I really like when you said that we could watch the whole season without the body swap chapter cause I actually skipped ep 8 by accident while watching toh for the first time and I just realized its existence 3 months ago, it felt weird to know I skipped a chapter but the story kept consistent lmao
@@HaydrogenBomb I watch the owl house on TH-cam since my mother refuses to pay a subscription for me to be able to watch it anywhere else and I couldn’t find the episode. I guess no one could be bothered to post the episode on TH-cam since I was able to find all the others.
@@HaydrogenBomb I don't know, I watched the whole season 1 on one day and I was going through the episodes kinda fast, so I guess I didn't click on chapter 8 thumbnail :p also, I thought that weird Luz/King fusion was just a weird fanart lmao
It actually put me off owl house when I was first watching it because I drop shows that are too episodic (I get bored, I've picked up and dropped amphibia twice because of that) and that episode pushed me that way when I first watched it. Though, when grom came out I picked it up again and did not regret.
I like that you pointed out the ages of viewers. I wanted to share that my 5 year old brother loves this show, my teenage self loves this show, and my 40 year old father loves this show. I don’t know how to explain any better how amazing this show is.
That makes me so happy knowing that such a wide range of people have love for the show! For someone young, it might be the wonder and exciting new world! For someone older it could be the idea of hope and beauty existing somewhere that should be miserable and cold. I really appreciate your comment and I am truly happy you and your family can enjoy it together, no matter your reason!
i recently convinced my 50 y/o parents to watch toh with me and they love it, my dad laughs at every. single. hooty joke. and my mum discusses the deeper themes and storyline with me :) honestly so fun seeing the range of ppl who can enjoy the show
@@Kasrium I think the range of (often but not always age-related) issues that characters go through helps a lot with this broad appeal. King feels like (maybe is?) the youngest character, and has a lot of childlike struggles involving being taken seriously but also still kinda wanting to be babied, and figuring out the basics of who and what he is. Luz, Amity, Willow, Gus, etc. have teen challenges like a navigating romance for the first time and figuring out a potential career path. And then we've got middle-aged characters like Eda, Raine, and Camila navigating things like second-chance romance and repressed-for-decades trauma while also trying to look after the kids/other people they care about. (And I suppose it definitely shows my age that THIS was what I was most excited to see! Because you so rarely see adult characters in a kids' show who are still growing - but growth never stops)
Yeah she is, on Disney channel at least. Star from Star vs the Forces of Evil was hinted to be bi but it was never confirmed. Plus I like to just forget star vs ever happened
The body swap episode was the first one I actually watched hsudbdj I fell in love with how silly and cute this show was that I immediately got hooked. If one of the "worst" episode of a series could do that, you know it's a good series
On the topic of “can’t body swap heal curses or let you live forever?” what about the person you swap your body with? Then they are stuck with the curse/your frail aging body. Relying on that is basically vampirism. Body swapping is probably frowned upon even for willing participants for that reason. Lilith reduced Eda’s curse by sharing it. Same amount of curse but split between two people. If you body-swap than you are saddling one person with the whole curse, which is super 👎
would you have the same issue if said other person was belos? convenient way to fix two problems at the same time >:) (then again who wants to live looking like Belos all the time. alternatively, shift him into a plant or something)
You can’t improve… everything was amazing. This was truly the best owl house vid I’ve ever sat through. The language was flawless and really made the audience understand what you were talking about. The visuals helped a lot and the little snips of memes you showed added to the fun (and helped keep people interested). Imo this vid is REALLY underrated and deserves to be up there with the analyses of verified accounts. Keep up the good work! I look forward to your next video.
Wow! Thank you so much for the high praise! These videos take really long hours to make and such kind comments like yours makes the experience more than worth it! I'm so glad you can enjoy them and the thought of making stuff that you all can connect and identify with makes me excited to continue to work on it even on days where I spend hours in Premiere! I hope you have a wonderful day and evening! Your kindness is certainly not overlooked
I agree, this show is definitely underrated compared to something like Gravity Falls (another fantastic show that absolutely gets way more recognition that this one does)! Now if only we could get that Disney Executive who cut season 3 short to watch this huh? 🤔
@@Kasrium It sure is underrated comparing to other Disney shows. Honetly i would LOVE The Owl House to took away the spotlight from Miraculous (Chaos, that show is just crazy, in a bad way... like if it had 2-3 seasons maybe it could be good but no.) :< Oh and that one executive should be punished by the universe itself. How could they do this??? Unbelievable! >:
Apart from Lumity, one of my favorite aspect of The Owl House, seeing Eda take on and embracing a motherly role for Luz, specially in the latest episode S2E17. Seeing her start breaking down once Luz left the room, all because she is worried and feels responsible for the position that Luz is in, in that things with Belos. Seeing Eda cry makes me want to cry.
*26:16* This kind of reminds me of that episode of Gravity Falls, where Dipper uses his dozen clones to set up that elaborate and ''perfect'' scenario for him to confess with Wendy, but ultimately, being genuine was the only way he could actually talk with Wendy properly. Both episodes are pretty similar, except one has a sad owl pipe tearing up the house he is literally attached to, and the other is about perfection-loving clones trying to kill their original self. Seriously though, That episode is Ingenious, and my personal favorite of Season one of Gravity Falls...
I dunno, in addition to backstory on Eda, I think it shows that King is a much bigger threat than he usually appears and the only thing truly holding him back is his tiny cute body. "oh. Oh you actually are a demon. You actually can effectively lead minions, even teenage losers, into causing mass destruction. You really might be a deposed demon king." There's a video called "Cripple your heroes" that talks about how effective a writing tool it is to give your hero some kind of major disadvantage to overcome, especially if it's the removal of something integral to their establish identity. This episode does the opposite. It gives the three a taste of being without that hindrance, and how they aren't ready for it. Liz's main disability in her quest is that she can't do magic, and she's tried to cheat her way to witchhood multiple times prior. So she's put in the body of the greatest witch on the boiling isles for a day. But without the necessary experience, she can't actually use it effectively. Eda wants freedom, and fights to keep it constantly, begrudgingly accepting any new social obligations or behavioral repercussions only when forced. King has no responsibilities, no past actions to haunt him, no owl beast, he has no job as his needs are catered to, and he can come and go as he pleases he just doesn't because his life is already as cushy as it could get. However pampered and finally free of metaphorical leashes, she finds herself in a physical one, and fully independent she has no one to rescue her. Some ties, it seems, are a good thing. And finally King, who despises how unimposing, impotent, and uncommanding he is, is given a form that can easily manipulate others into following him. However, while he manages to cause plenty chaos, his rulership is too unfocused and juvenile to actually achieve any amount of conquest, and he can't reign it in.
I 100% agree with this! While I do see the argument that the episode leans heavily into the "charm" aspect with its antics, I think it is simply untrue to say that it lacks any characterization. The whole point of any body swap story is characterization!! "Walking a mile in another's shoes" per say. And I think the episode does a good job of it. To bring up Lilith as well, I think the way she is treated lends beautifully to making her a sympathetic character later on in the show. Her failures are not from incompetence, but from having lines she won't cross, as well as having an immaturity that is a reflection of Eda's. She fails because she doesn't fit in the system either, and that makes her fit in much better with our lovable outcast main characters, including her friendship with Hooty, the biggest outcast of them all.
i think its also worth pointing out that the lessons that come as a result of the body swap don't actually directly affect the characters that learn them. and the result is not as straight forward as in other episodes. LUZ is the one who learns about the danger that eda faces when she goes into town, and the video claims that there is a failure here because EDA doesnt act on that lesson and stop selling her wares in public except.... why would she? she already knows the danger and has been doing it anyway because frankly she needs money and already knows how to keep a relatively low profile and avoid the guards while she works. LUZ is the one who stops trying to interfere with eda's work. EDA is the one who learns about the psychotic behavior that King has to deal with from people just treating him like a cute pet and the video expects King to change his behavior or face problems elated to this further down the line but why would he? hes been dealing with it his entire life and already knows what to do sure he enjoys being coddled but he asserts himself demanding that other people back off and certainly doesnt make a habit of just walking into cat cafe's like eda did while in his body. EDA is the one that needed to learn to respect king bit more and its not brought up in the video but KING learns his lesson about how difficult it can actually be for Luz to deal with other kids her age and he begins to respect her more as a result. i wont claim that it was the best episode of the season but if you think they didnt learn anything then you missed the point, this episode helps bring the characters together and teaches them to respect one another by allowing them to learn about each others problems
Oh cramity, Amity, did you forgot to mention what happened with the Owl beast in Eda's seven minutes? We may have somehow got to see "it's memories" or something to do with how it "became a curse?" Don't really know much, but from the next episode we see that the beast is cognitive and can speak with Eda now. Maybe that will lead to an episode where Eda gets more exposed to who or what the owl beast is. Who knows we may even be confronted by it's hunter later in the series?
I had actually cut a good chunk of the video talking about the Owl Beast and Eda's memories more in-depth since it wasn't strictly related to this video's topic and fit better for a direct analysis of Eda and/or the Owl Beast. I was worried about the video dragging or going off topic. That being said, I did save it for when I do an analysis of Eda for a separate video. I actually agree with you on that we'll be learning more about the Owl Beast and hopefully then I can talk about some of my thoughts on it then. Thank you so much watching until the end! I really appreciate it and thank you for your comment :)
Ok finally finished this, And then went to go subscribe... And realized JUST How underrated you are! Seriously, This is one of the best owl house videos I have ever seen! Based on what you talk about, the editing, (seriously that editing is really good!) The humor, And everything else you deserve so much more! Id love to see more videos from you in the future! I'm fully willing to watch 3 hours of you talking about owl house! TLDR: You are very under-rated! Your skills are amazing and I'm looking forward to seeing more from you in the future!
Oh my! Thank you so much for the high praise! I'm glad you'll be sticking around and I hope you enjoy the next video I have planned (it's currently in the editing process now so I hope it will come out within the next few days to week). Thank you for your kind words, and I thank you for encouraging me to keep moving forward
//spoilers// I might have come up with a reason for the body swap episode (wether it was intentional or not) it’s more likely then you might first think when it comes to a very popular fan theory where Belos made Hunter via grimwalker and is going to body swap into him when his curse eventually kills his decaying body, so a point that you made that would work against the show, being that if Eda swapped into a body without her curse it would negate most of her struggles, but it would work for the show being a villainous tool to help Belos but that’s just a theory A FILM THEO-
Ooooh that'd be dope! Honestly that'd be a great thing to revisit in the future if this does end up being the case. *Making note for future Danny to come back to this comment just in case!*
Do I think that will be the case... probably not.... Does the thought that it totally could keep me up at night.... Yeeeeaaaahhhh..... Seriously though I would laugh too! I'm totally fine if I'm wrong because it just improves one of the concerning aspects of the show haha :)
You are so underrated! Your humor, editing, explanation, and voice are all amazing. I can tell you worked hard on this and I can’t believe this was your first analysis video. The jokes that you said made me laugh out loud, how you edited this was so interesting, the way you explained the different characters was amazing, I hope you don’t find this weird but your voice is nice to listen to. And honestly you had me in the beginning of the video when you said “boy oh boy, do I love The Owl House” because honestly same lol. Keep up the great work!😊
Oh wow! Thank you so much! To be honest, I (like I assume most people) don't really like the sound of my voice, so you saying how nice it was to listen to was very touching. I am so glad you loved the jokes and editing and I'm hoping you stick around for my future videos as well. Have a great rest of your day or evening Molly! 😊
I barely leave comments on video-essays but this was so good. Also I love how you mentioned the 3 C's because this video had all of them. You should be proud you made this. Also, Oh, Cramity Amity.
Thank you so so much! I'm still trying to find my voice, but I'm so glad that you felt it had heart already! Have a beautiful rest of your day, and I hope you'll stick around for the other videos I have planned!
randomly stumbled across this video with scouring the endless reaches of TH-cam, and it was incredible. I honestly had forgotten about "Once upon a swap" and I'm not one to easily forget. Now I know why. You explained the transition between episodes beautifully. I hope to see more from you soon. This is your local shadow being signing off. Oh cramity, Amity!
I’ve been getting into workshopping my own possibly show, and while struggling with comparing my own work to that of the Owl House this popped into my feed. What an absolutely wonderful analysis of both the show itself and the writing within it! I feel like I’ve learned so much in just 30 short minutes.
Dude you're so underrated The whole analogy of this video was incredibly well made and it's criminally underrated. Kudos to you man. (Also I like how you made the 3 c's the bisexual colors for luz)
Oh thank you so much! I really appreciate your kindness! And I'm so glad that you caught that, I was hoping people would appreciate it. Have a great rest of your evening or day!
Wow, you perfectly expressed why the swap episode wasn't my cup of tea. Honestly, I didn't have the words for ot before, but you explained it perfectly! Beautiful video! You gained a subscriber!
In the spirit of Eda's words, "does it have to be?", I've noticed that the best shows are themselves not perfect and sometimes they just need one or two "meh" episodes to lead them to some amazing ones. Thank you for your videos I am enjoying them very much 😊
Oh cramity, Amity. I was genuinely surprised to hear that this was your first video essay. Your delivery was excellent, your argument was well crafted, and your editing worked beautifully to provide both charm and further illustrate your points. You avoided one of the common mistakes I have seen and made in essays (video or otherwise) by limiting yourself to the two episodes with the rare and brief dips into others for necessary context. Additionally, you utilized the video part of your video essay, something I’ve seen rarely done as I find most video essays to be just a narrated version of their written counterpart. I do understand most of this is likely do to with copyright claims or insufficient visuals, but that is a topic for a different discussion. As for future video essay suggestions, I can’t currently think of any relating to The Owl House (likely because of how fresh it is in my mind having watched it for the first time recently), but I would recommend looking into the manga and anime Beastars for inspiration since it is ripe for analysis if a bit more dark. I also recommend the BBC show Merlin since I think it’s a good show that I haven’t seen many people talking about. Best of luck and I’m looking forward to seeing more of your content
I wouldn't say "knocking on Hooty's door" follows three disconnected plots, when I saw it I read it more as we were following Hooty, and occasionally detouring to focus on the effects of his actions.
Oh cramity, Amity! That was acctualy one of the best TOH analysis videos I've seen so far. Use of scenes from the show to visualize your point, in-depth analysis, great jokes and gags, and everything polished to a gloss. How much time did you put in it? You even extensively timestamped it! Like wow. I want more.
oh my gosh, this was incredible! you’re so underrated, and the way you perfectly laid out the differences sprung from the similarities between these two episodes was incredible. you’re a fantastic analyst and i would KILL for an eda character analysis!! subscribed!
Aw thank you so so much!! I will be having that Eda video hopefully soon and I am so glad you like the style of analysis! Have a beautiful rest of your day Lucy!
This video was really an amazing essay! I loved hearing your thoughts about the episodes and I completely agree with everything you've said. I love how passionate you are about this show and how you analyze everything about it,it really shows how amazing it is! As someone who aspires to become a storyteller and comic artist i did not expect to gain such a beautiful lesson on the 3 C's that you mentioned,it really opened my mind on how my favorite episodes from almost every series I love follow that principle and it goes to show how great and true it is. Thank you! AND,oh cramity,Amity! >:]
this is so perfect omg i’m so interested in more videos like this, i love the owl house so much and i’m so glad that the wlw representation is there and in the new episodes i love the enby representation with Raine and how no one misgenders them, even the antagonists dont misgender them and as a fellow enby myself it’s so uplifting and just, this show is so amazing and adorable and it’s so similar to Gravity Falls in the way it’s become such a comfort show for me with the adorable plot and loveable characters
I'm so glad someone finally addressed the issues brought up with a body swap spell! That's been bugging me ever since I rewatched the series. But also the in depth analysis of both episodes (and also that bit of Covention) really helped me understand some of the intricacies of the writing. This is the kind of job I want to have, and thank you for helping me understand it
I think this is one of my favorite video essays on TOH ive seen so far, i dont even know how to explain, its just really well made and your points were just great! I just genuinely enjoyed watching this video a lot
I like the way that you edited this so even when we’re listening to you talk the visuals are still funny and interesting enough to keep us entertained even if we don’t really know what you’re talking about
Knock Knock as an episode is one of the greatest Emotional Rollercoaster you can endure in the span of a TV episode. (I started abbreviating the episode as an acronym but got 3 letters in and decided that was a bad idea.)
Oh cramity Amity! I don’t normally write comments, but I was so surprised and impressed to hear that this is your first video essay, as you did a very good job! Hope you’ll do more in the future
This has nothing to do with the message of the video, but I want to say I absolutely love how you overlay text on toh clips to make memes out of what you're saying. It really kept me engaged 😅
Oh cramity amity! Anyways, lovely video essay, I was fully engaged the whole time and honestly don’t have any constructive criticism haha. I think your ideas flowed well, you summarized the episodes precisely, you connected ideas and themes across episodes. “On a scale from 1-5, you scored…a TWELVE??” -Mabel. Hope to see more video essay from you in the future!
That was amazing! I didn't think this was your first video essay and you've delivered the message and content so precisely that I've been enlightened/inspired on how cool Owl House is from the perspective of non-watcher (too poor rip) vaguely knowing that it's full of fun and heartwarming moments. Thank you for sharing this with us and I hope you'll do more!
So underrated. Please continue with this. I thought you were one of the typical owl house episode analysis and critique guys. But you weren't. I was suprised. But you were even better than the others. PLS MAKE MORE UWUWU
omg I love this video and your analysis and comparison between these episodes! I hope you'll do more videos like this or more TOH related content there's barely any out there :')
Absolutely! Thank you so much for watching and your kindness! I actually just finished the script for my next Owl House video yesterday and am starting to record today! As for what it's about, let's just say... I don't cut corners... ;)
I would like this video 10 times if i could. One of the best video essays i ve ever seen and definetely the best one related to animations. Very easy to follow since you layed everything in order and everything you said was straight forward and accompanied by relevant visual elements. Have you thought about doing something similar by analizing philip's psychology/motives? Maybe after we get to see the day of unity play out bc that will definetely come with its own reality check for belos (collector's betrayal incoming)
This is the first video "I'm seeing from your channel. As an OH fan, I loved it. As a novice writer hoping to publish, I learned things that can help me. I will for sure look for other videos from you to enjoy. Hoping to see that Amity analysis if it's not out yet. You have done amazing work in just over 5 minutes past an OH episode run time. Consider writing yourself, if you aren't a writer already. I will be sharing this in the OH reddit and Discord. Thank you so, so much for this gift for the fans.
In the dubbed portuguese version once upon a swap didn't aired in order, so it was like, one of the last episodes i got to see in s1, nobody missed it, kinda felt like a bonus episode we got while waiting for the real next episode,
I'm so happy you found it too! I have two (three-ish?) Amity focused videos on different aspects of her character (one-ish coming next), and another on Eda in the pipeline. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I hope to see you in future comments sections of videos! :)
I think it is one of those episode that is part of the series but can be played at any time without having to follow the story. Such as "Avatar the Last Airbender", the episode where the two clans are stuck in a ravine and quarrel about something, do not remember, and Ang says that they were just a ball game in the end. So yes, they are boring for us who follow the show epidsode by epidsode, but it give the show a greater ability to be playd randomely.
Oh cramity, Amity. To me, there's nothing about this episode I'd change. Arguments are logical and delivered fluently, animations are WONDERFULL commentary to it and, thanks to you, I've noticed new aspects about this show to consider. Thanks for your work and have a great day.
100% agree, the body-swap was fun, but not needed. so unneeded I had to watch it three times to even remember enough of that episode's plot outside of "body-swap gone wrong."
ngl tbh i forgot entirely about once upon a swap, whilst i do like watching it (Mainly cuz i'm not very nit-picky lol, just so long it doesn't give me intense second-hand embarrassment), I do see your points and agree ngl; tbh i'd argue it was a filler episode lol but idk, great video though! Edit: ALSO I L O V E HOW YOU ADDED THE BI FLAG AT 6:04 , And also how you selected the season 1 credits (which show Luz) there- might have to subscribe to ya, buckaroo
Oh WOW this is one of those videos that pinpoints the genius in a piece of media and makes me appreciate it even more! Thank you for this. I can rest now thinking that my love for this show can be rationally explained and justified. (lmao I know that's kind of a problem I have with pieces if media I enjoy, sometimes I want to share it with someone but I can barely understand why I like it to begin with). But yea it's not that I didn't notice most of what you pointed on in the video but you made me reflect on it and it made me appreciate this show even more than I already did.
Wow... im shocked you dont have more subscribers, you are one of the better review/theory youtubers ive seen! Edit: plus you have a nicer voice than lots of other people(great inflection and emotion), and the editing style is really appealing! Edit 2: just finished the video soo "Oh Cramity, Amity"
Wow! That is such an amazing compliment to hear! Thank you so much!! I'll be honest when I say that I'm not the biggest fan of my voice so hearing that you liked it means a lot to me. I hope you stick around in the future and again I really appreciate your kind comment... real witch :)
The lols in Once Upon a Swap are still enjoyable though. The segment with Eda in King’s body was fun, and my sister & I always quote the line “I will avenge you, bow tie!”
Oh thank you so much for the praise! I am working dilligently and have some exciting stuff down then line! I hope to see you in future comment sections ;)
Bro. Bro. THIS IS SO GOOD? Not only is this an amazingly well thought out and comprehensible analysis, you put so much love into it. You aren't afraid to criticize the show or point out what could be better, but you put emphasis on what it excels at. I didn't even think of half the stuff you said, but listening to it al, it's definitely true. Do you watch Amphibia? I'd love to see analysis videos or theories from you
This is beautifully written and edited, my friend. And thank you for the subtitles! I especially enjoyed your systematic approach, pointing out similarities that wouldn't come to mind while first-watching, and yeah, I realized that one of the two episodes didn't even tried to stay in my brain, and you explained well the reason why. Oh, cramity, I'd like to hear your thoughts on Amity- not her specifically, any character, really. Clawthorne parents are coming to mind. Wish you the success you deserve!
I loved this video. It’s the perfect length for me (I love long videos), the jokes are not overdone and perfectly fit the mood, your points are coherent and make absolute sense. Subscribed and will be tuning in for more videos. Definitely will be watching this again
So glad to hear it! I was honestly worried the length would be a bit much but I'm glad that people did not feel that was the case. I'm so glad you subscribed and I love your username btw 😂
These two episodes remind me a lot of a couple episodes of Ducktales. The first of which being Day of the Only Child, which consists of three separate stories each following a single triplet. The episode structure is thematically relevant as it takes place on a day Huey, Dewey and Louie set aside to pretend to be only children, ultimately learning they're stronger together when all three plots come together at the end. That episode introduced both Doofus Drake and Dewey Dew Night to the show. What really elevates the episode is how past incarnations of Huey, Dewey and Louie were always treated like identical clones of each other, and how Day of the Only Child handles proving this isn't true by utilizing the boys' individual personalities while showing the value they add to each other's lives as brothers.
my dream is to one day make my own cartoon series, so thank you for making this video, the 3 c's helped me sooo much to understand some stuff. Also, oh cramity Amity
Oh I'm so glad to hear that!! That's actually really awesome what you said about your dream because I think if that's the case, my next video may resonate with you strongly as well. Should be out in a few days so I hope you'll be willing to stick around for it! Who am I kidding though, you're a real witch so I know of course you will! I'm happy to have helped you on your path to greatness
damn that was really good, especially for a first video essay! I'm impressed man! As someone who is also trying to write my own video essays, I think you did a great first job and be sure to keep it up in the future (if you want to that is lol)
I have to say, Once Upon a Swap was a disappointment. After I watched the season 2 finale, I rewatched the series and that episode was the only one I skipped. And what’s really bad is that the body swap trope is one of my favorites. So to see the episode end up so… meh, is just upsetting.
Your pride in this essay shows its no surprise due to the effort behind the product. Mid way I paused the video to check out the rest of your channel; I really look forward to more from you. Keep at it man
I would definitely love a deep dive on Eda - she's got so many layers and is such a fun, complex character who also is a fantastic piece of mental health representation. She struggles with her curse, while calling herself the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles. She avoids building deep relationships at first due to her trauma and struggles, but also absolutely thrives on love once she lets herself be open and vulnerable and even opens up about the curse - something she didn't choose, but she is also ashamed of nonetheless. Learning through the support she received to accept her curse as a part of herself is a powerful metaphor, and learning that her curse DOESN'T make her unlovable is incredibly valuable to people who also struggle with mental health and stigma resulting from that
I'm upset that Season 1 had so much filler while Season 2 hasn't to date. It makes me feel like the team was forced to cut it out due to the shortened Season 3. In other words, I feel like the only reason Hooty's Door has the same three-story format is to save time. That said, it uses it so well, as you described.
I agree, my only complaint about the Owl House this season is that it is a bit fast but like you said it is likely due to a constrained season 3. Overall I am glad they opted to do more than take some of these storylines and character development to the cutting room floor. Every episode so far is essential and that is a much better alternative :)
Iv watched the owl house SOO MANY TIMES…but I seriously can not remember this episode 😓! I think I just…took it out my memory all I remember is eda as king
Hands down one of the best owl House videos I’ve ever seen, I loved the way you snuck comedy into the more serious moments and you definitely kept me interested🙃
I couldn't even tell this was your first essay, it was so well done and easy to understand! The scattered memes throughout were glorious too ajdjajd ,,,,,we're gonna ignore that I'm six months late- aaand Oh Cramity Amity™
bro you had me crying by the end of this.... that might be just because of how cute amity and luz are together but the way you said it, just, *cheffs kiss*. i need more videos t+like this to exist. i dont care what else you post, because of this video you deserve all the subs. also the level of comparison you made is just breathtaking. i have no notes. it was funny, deep, and just the best video to exist, ever. thank you.
i love this video. knock knock knockin’ is my favorite episode of the show and i always love getting to fanboy over how damn good it is. you explain it so well, voicing my thoughts and bringing up points i hadn’t even considered. instant sub from me, keep up the amazing work. oh cramity, amity!
Can I just say that, in my opinion, just you saying that you appreciated us making it to the end and hoping we understood the video is just wholesome? "Oh Cramity Amity"
This is really underrated!, i love the way you got into the things you wanted to talk about and the importance you give to each one, even tho it was a 30 minutes video, it really catched me, it was entretaining with the "memes" yet so objective with every point, i hope you get into the youtube algorythm and get many more subscribers, cause you deserve them!
I absolutely loved this video! Great analysis! Jokes were on point and constant throughout the vid. I love your humour and reference! I can't wait to see you make more! Consider me subscribed, and I hope your channel explodes!
Great video! I never thought on conparing these two episodes. Although the only segment that I would nitpick is the comment that body swapping would solve problems like eda's curse or Luzes dream since it would impply letting potentionaly inocent characters trapped with their problems, being something a villain would do and considering Eda's ego and the fact that Luz planed to go back to earth none of them would change even if it was with a villain (aside from the morals)
OMG this channel is so underrated! This is some 1-million-subscriber level sh*t. U deserve better. The one thing I don't like in this vid is that at the start u mentioned The Owl House being a "plot driven narrative" and I disagree, whilst the plot is important, sure, I think The Owl House along with many other cartoons of it's style like Gravity Falls and Avatar, is definitely a character-driven story. The narrative focuses more on the characters and their ideas and emotions on things rather than how it progresses the plot. And Obviously all stories have to be somewhat of a mix of all of them (Character, Plot and Worldbuilding/Themes), and it does have more of a strung-together, story focus than say, Hilda, The main Thing drawing attention to the show and the reason many fans stick around is because of the characters more than the plot or worldbuilding. U even seem to prove this wrong later on as u talk about "The 3 C's" with 2 of them (characterization and charm) focusing more on character. But all that is obviously a tiny nitpick only about three words u said at the start of the video and this along with all your other vids deserver FAR more attention than they get. I hope for the best for your channel! :D
Hello! Thank you so much for your encouragement! I don't disagree with you as far as you feeling that the Owl House is primarily a character driven show. Honestly, it really is a toss up between it being focused on the characters and the plot advancing with every episode as it's primary focus. The only reason I choose to say that it is a primarily plot driven is because of the heavy emphasis on the importance behind the day of unity and Luz getting home with just about every episode of 2A thus far, with character development becoming a product of the plot advancing (Yesterday's Lie, Eda's Requiem) and vice versa on other episodes (Escaping Expulsion, Separate Tides). I think it's fair to argue either, but I don't think anyone would disagree that the show has definitely became one or the other in this second season (or hey, why not both?). Thank you so much for caring enough to critically think about what was said, I am not perfect so pointing out inconsistencies can help with my writing in the future! Have a beautiful day! 🙂
I'm really impressed that this is your first video essay! The visuals really stood out to me, having the clips from the show in sync with what you're saying and also fit the theme of what you're talking about seems like a really hard thing to do and it's an awesome detail.
hot. dang. you are underrated. This is a beautiful video-essay and I have had an obsession with TOH for so long and not known why, but now I have my reasoning when people look at me weirdly for wearing my Hexside uniform out in public. This is truly one of the best TOH analyzing videos I've ever seen, and as I've displayed before its SO good I barely have words. Thanks for blessing that 28 minutes of time
Us weirdos gotta stick together! Wear that Hexside pride with pride! I'm so glad you liked this video so much and stuck until the end of the video, thank you so much for your kind words!
The way you matched the video clips to what you were saying (in some cases even ventriloquizing the characters) was really enjoyable and must've taken a lot of time (or is simply a reward of having already hyperfixated on the show). Super fun video, this is truly the best fandom. Besides the body swapping posing a potential plot hole 🕳, (although i agree with some other comentors that the tactic may have been avoided purely because the main characters are ethical) the body swapping episode was also disturbing because of the demonic cat cafe... and the animal cruelty (demon cruelty?) taking place there.
This video was amazing! I immediately subscribed. And I love, when you showed the three C’s for the first time, they where on the bi flag. Clever thinking. Also, Amity, oh CRAMITY
I WAS EXPECTING A LIKE 10/20 K VIEWS UNDER THAT VIDEO AND IT;S ONLY 500???? WTF PEOPLE (if you don't understand what i'm saying, this video is so good and i don't understand why it doesn't have much attention)
Honestly, I would love that many views, but the likes and kind comments like this one are honestly where I measure the video's success. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to comment something so kind!
This video’s editing, analysis and script was so good and even though it’s pretty late in the season I would still love to see a amity analysis video from you or a luz one. I LOVED THIS VIDEO THOUGH!
Dude, this video is simply spectacular. Great work! Although personally (and feel free to disagree with me on this), I’ve always considered the worst episode of the series to be “The First Day”. The multitrack kids might be awesome, but the episode itself is an utter mess in so many ways, from the wonky pacing, to the whole forced misunderstanding cliche between Luz and multitrackers that didn’t need to be there at all, to Bump just being at his absolute worst, it’s just a terrible episode in my opinion. And even worse, unlike “Once Upon a Swap”, it’s unskippable due to being a very plot-relevant episode. Just...yeesh... Still, awesome job with this!
THIS VIDEO WAS AMAZING AND VERY UNDERRATED, I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THE POINTS MADE. also yesyesyesyesyes i would definitely watch a separate breakdown of eda and amity’s characters I think it’d be very interesting :o)
Thank you so much for very kind comment! I will be making those videos coming soon! I think I'll be taking a vote on what video people would like first in the next video, which should be coming out in the next few days! I hope you'll watch those videos too, and have a great rest of your day Hannah!
Wow. You just said clear why I didnt like Once upon a swap and why I loved Knock knock knocking on Hooty's door. Meanwhile I was just crying because Once upon a swap was very bad episode (in my opinion) on the owl house level. You argumented so well why I didnt like it. So I totally agree with you. Great job with that video🧡
LOVE THIS! I love listening to video essays and yours was GREAT! I would LOVE to hear you talk about owl house and lumity and characterization for hours! More! I don't mind the length! Thank you!!!
Of course, glad you can appreciate the analysis! Thank you so much for your comment and sticking with me until the end! I hope to see you in future comment sections :)
I think theres one more c that makes the owl house special and thats creativity every episode is wild and trys to do something new in the world (mostly) and i love how tightly compact the world is it makes it feel more real, every witch has to use a circle to use a spell titans blood is an incredibly rare recourse that is used sparingly but when used its for very big reveals.
I really like when you said that we could watch the whole season without the body swap chapter cause I actually skipped ep 8 by accident while watching toh for the first time and I just realized its existence 3 months ago, it felt weird to know I skipped a chapter but the story kept consistent lmao
Same lol 😂
That's funny 😁
How did you miss it?
I really appreciate your comment and I am truly happy you and your family can enjoy it together, no matter your reason!
i recently convinced my 50 y/o parents to watch toh with me and they love it, my dad laughs at every. single. hooty joke. and my mum discusses the deeper themes and storyline with me :) honestly so fun seeing the range of ppl who can enjoy the show
I love this show my mom loves this show, and my dad refuses to admit he likes this show. (He does like the show btw)
6:04 I think it’s a nice detail that you added the bi-flag colors as Luz is the first canonically confirmed bi main character. (I think.)
In Disney? Yeah I think you are right
I was looking for a comment mentioning this lol
Luz had a crush on the puppet man, and blushed in the library episode (with both the twins) and she has a gf. Which in definition, is bisexual.
yes she is
Yeah she is, on Disney channel at least.
It'd be like if I spent a bunch of money at a bar and left the tab on you.
Ok and?
would you have the same issue if said other person was belos? convenient way to fix two problems at the same time >:)
(then again who wants to live looking like Belos all the time. alternatively, shift him into a plant or something)
@@arcko71022 (not to forget he needs to constantly "feed" on palisman essence)
And Belos uses it to stay alive but he still has the curse thing
You can’t improve… everything was amazing. This was truly the best owl house vid I’ve ever sat through. The language was flawless and really made the audience understand what you were talking about. The visuals helped a lot and the little snips of memes you showed added to the fun (and helped keep people interested). Imo this vid is REALLY underrated and deserves to be up there with the analyses of verified accounts. Keep up the good work! I look forward to your next video.
I’m gonna put the link of this vid in my bio so hopefully it gets more views
That's wat I'm sayin
"I'll put away the fanboying for a bit" NOOO PLEASE DONT! Seeing people loving this show is such blesseing! 🥺🥺
@@orilenaitsukino Miraculous is hilarious because of how bad it is... it definitely doesn't deserve all the attention it gets.
@@Houtblokje Totally agree. 😭💜
Yeah, who doesn't love fan lying anyway?😀
You really might be a deposed demon king."
There's a video called "Cripple your heroes" that talks about how effective a writing tool it is to give your hero some kind of major disadvantage to overcome, especially if it's the removal of something integral to their establish identity.
EDA is the one that needed to learn to respect king bit more
and its not brought up in the video but KING learns his lesson about how difficult it can actually be for Luz to deal with other kids her age and he begins to respect her more as a result.
i wont claim that it was the best episode of the season but if you think they didnt learn anything then you missed the point, this episode helps bring the characters together and teaches them to respect one another by allowing them to learn about each others problems
@@shadowdemonzero I'll admit, I had completely written off the episode, but you've given me a new perspective on it.
@@Kasrium You're welcome.
Coming from the future, spot on with meeting the hunter in further episodes 🙃

I might have come up with a reason for the body swap episode (wether it was intentional or not)
it’s more likely then you might first think when it comes to a very popular fan theory where Belos made Hunter via grimwalker and is going to body swap into him when his curse eventually kills his decaying body,
so a point that you made that would work against the show, being that if Eda swapped into a body without her curse it would negate most of her struggles, but it would work for the show being a villainous tool to help Belos
but that’s just a theory A FILM THEO-
Ooooh that'd be dope! Honestly that'd be a great thing to revisit in the future if this does end up being the case. *Making note for future Danny to come back to this comment just in case!*
I thought abt the same thing bc I’ve heard that theory around. It could be cool and make a lot of sense for Belos
A FILM THEORY!
aah foreshadowing, my favorite film element :)
omg I loved the theory it's amazing I hope that explains in a future episode
I'm going to laugh if the body swap spell becomes relevant with Belos and Hunter.
That is so true
I barely leave comments on video-essays but this was so good. Also I love how you mentioned the 3 C's because this video had all of them. You should be proud you made this.

Dude you're so underrated
The whole analogy of this video was incredibly well made and it's criminally underrated. Kudos to you man.

Thank you for your videos I am enjoying them very much 😊
PLEASE DO MORE! This was so nice and calming to listen to and unbelievably informative/enjoyable!
Thank you so much for saying so! The next one is on the way, I hope you'll enjoy it just as much as this one (if not more)!
Love the video! But every time you pronounced continuity as "con-ti-nui-ty" instead of "con-ti-nU-i-ty" a part of my soul died.

Oh cramity amity! Anyways, lovely video essay, I was fully engaged the whole time and honestly don’t have any constructive criticism haha. In the dubbed portuguese version once upon a swap didn't aired in order, so it was like, one of the last episodes i got to see in s1, nobody missed it, kinda felt like a bonus episode we got while waiting for the real next episode,
I did not know that! Thank you chokko for hitting us with a fun fact! Further validity haha :)
0:03 The high-five matched up with gus highfiving luz
I’m so happy I found this video it’s so good! Also I would love to hear your amity and eda analysis!
I'm so happy you found it too! I have two (three-ish?) Amity focused videos on different aspects of her character (one-ish coming next), and another on Eda in the pipeline. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I hope to see you in future comments sections of videos! :)
@@Kasrium oh I’ll definitely be there 😁
I think it is one of those episode that is part of the series but can be played at any time without having to follow the story.
This video is so perfectly edited and commentated, keep up the good work! I can't wait to see what the future of your channel holds :)
I'd love to see analysis videos or theories from you
Please make every video that you said you would make I love your ideas and your personality
Aw, shucks! Thank you for watching!! I'm looking forward to making stuff in the future and I hope you love it just as much if not more!
What really elevates the episode is how past incarnations of Huey, Dewey and Louie were always treated like identical clones of each other, and how Day of the Only Child handles proving this isn't true by utilizing the boys' individual personalities while showing the value they add to each other's lives as brothers.
i am so happy i found this video.
subscribed!! ✅
i would love an eda &/or amity character analysis video
Wow, thank you so much for your encouragement!! Welcome to the Witch Appreciation Society and your fellow Witch-cidians? Witch-ies? WITCH-OLIOS!!
The continuity should probably be higher because King in Luz’s body is a reference to Titan Luz.
my dream is to one day make my own cartoon series, so thank you for making this video, the 3 c's helped me sooo much to understand some stuff.
Well you covered all but 1 detail when hooty ate the mail for kings dad
The bisexual graph>>>
Nice to see someone noticed ;)
@@Kasrium i’m so glad i wasn’t just looking too far into it and that it was intentional
damn that was really good, especially for a first video essay!
Keep at it man
oh cramity, amity! this is such an amazing analysis!
Hands down one of the best owl
House videos I’ve ever seen, I loved the way you snuck comedy into the more serious moments and you definitely kept me interested🙃
I couldn't even tell this was your first essay, it was so well done and easy to understand! The scattered memes throughout were glorious too ajdjajd
,,,,,we're gonna ignore that I'm six months late-
aaand Oh Cramity Amity™
"Oh cramity, Amity!"
The Video was great and i don't know what you can do better but i'm very bad at giving critic and thinks like this 😅.
Aw thank you anyway, your encouraging words are perfectly fine as well! Thank you for being a real witch!
bro you had me crying by the end of this.... that might be just because of how cute amity and luz are together but the way you said it, just, *cheffs kiss*. i need more videos t+like this to exist. i dont care what else you post, because of this video you deserve all the subs. also the level of comparison you made is just breathtaking. i have no notes. it was funny, deep, and just the best video to exist, ever. thank you.
i love this video. knock knock knockin’ is my favorite episode of the show and i always love getting to fanboy over how damn good it is. you explain it so well, voicing my thoughts and bringing up points i hadn’t even considered. instant sub from me, keep up the amazing work.
oh cramity, amity!
Oh cramity, Amity, this is a really good video!
Can I just say that, in my opinion, just you saying that you appreciated us making it to the end and hoping we understood the video is just wholesome?
"Oh Cramity Amity"
Thank you so much, I see you my real witches! Have a wonderful rest of your day and I love your username btw :)
Of course! And thank you :D
Amity, Oh Cramity
I'm blushing! Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement Skye! You truly are a real witch!
I find it beautiful how many owl house memes were put in this video
Oh Cramity Amity! This was an amazing video. I loved every second of it.
When I watched the first season, I missed this episode for some reason and didn't watch it. It changed nothing- 😂 😂
Haha, what a coincidence! Thank you for validating my thoughts. I thought I might've been crazy when I was writing that! 🤣
Same!
I am already in a massive denial hole that it isn’t over
OMG this channel is so underrated!
Also,
Amity, oh CRAMITY
Haha I'm so happy to hear that! Thank you for noticing and being a real witch. I hope you enjoy Saturday's video too!
Once upon a swap: You always act like you're better than me
Knock knock knocking on hootys door: I AM better than you
Haha, got Family Guy flashbacks from that one!
@@Kasrium thank you!! and I’ll be sure to watch those videos too!
Thank you!! Glad to hear my argument was clear and spoke to you! 😊
LOVE THIS!
I love listening to video essays and yours was GREAT! I would LOVE to hear you talk about owl house and lumity and characterization for hours! More! I don't mind the length!
Thank you!!!
Great, thanks for reminding me why i love this show!
Oh cramityamity
Of course, glad you can appreciate the analysis! Thank you so much for your comment and sticking with me until the end! I hope to see you in future comment sections :)
I think theres one more c that makes the owl house special and thats creativity every episode is wild and trys to do something new in the world (mostly) and i love how tightly compact the world is it makes it feel more real, every witch has to use a circle to use a spell titans blood is an incredibly rare recourse that is used sparingly but when used its for very big reveals.
PLEASE!…give us an Amity analysis lol 💜
How about two? (So far....) Coming soon! 😊
@@Kasrium Love it! And this video 😁
Thank you, you Otter... with a dark side... 😉
