I didn’t know and I’ve got lots. Plus loads of freckles. I’m quite speckled at this point 😆 50 now so not only am I spotted white brown and tan, my thin skin turns a speckled red like lil blood spots just under the skin if I scrape myself or scratch too hard. Aging isn’t for the faint of heart. Lol
Yes! I have a few on the back of my calves! I actually had one that was crusty and raised. I went into my dermatologist and he took a biopsy. It was fine. 👍🏼 Thanks for all your advice! It’s SO MUCH appreciated!
Did you have a lot of spots? How much but A? I’m so badly disfigured by these there are so many I’m scar to even do outside. I literally haven’t been in the sun in 20 years I move to Florida wear sunblock and I’m so badly spotted. So far too many for any of these treatments to work
I've got the white spots, although a bit larger than stated. I always thought they were from cat scratches. I live in the Hanes Sport Cool DRI long sleeve shirts from on line Walmart or Amazonian. I'm in NE Florida and I don't get too warm in them. As low as $9US. Otherwise, my arm applied sunscreen just gets on everything (if you use the correct amount). I treat my forearms like my face, sans tretinoin. I use Advanced Clinicals Retinol cream instead.
@@AllyKit First, I LOVE your name! I actually started it on Dr. Dray's recommendation. Back in March-ish 2021, she mentioned that she was going to try to be more consistent with it. Retinol listed as 10th ingredient, Economical, I use a tub every 2 months for $15US. I also layer on alternate Alpha 12%glycolic lotion with Gold Bond Diabetic Relief (has Urea), but AC every night. Definitely better, much softer.crepe not as evident. tiny bit "firmer". And I know it won't get any worse now that I'm taking better care. Good luck!
Thank goodness I came across this.I'm a light skinned African woman and I actually thought the white spots were as a result of not getting enough sunlight.I've also been thinking it's hereditary because my mum had them and my sister's too.Surprise surprise.I only apply sunscreen on my face and I have those white spots on parts of my body not the face...go figure.
I also thought mine were from not enough sun; although I grew up in the tropics I was always in pants, rarely wore shorts, and wore skirts and dresses in the office.
I notice these white spots on my legs and inner arms in my 60’s but I rarely were shorts anymore and don’t sun bath. As a black woman I thought it was due to loss of melanin from a lack of sun exposure in my later years.

self-tanner with SPF is what I use to diminish these white spots and even those teeny spider veins! Im not worried about being perfect, but I want to be healthy
Thanks, this was really helpful info. Wishing I had taken better care earlier on! Hey, I am missing seeing your mom and Ty-Bee. Hope we get to see them sometime soon!

Hi Uncle Charlie, You must have been pleased that after Dr Dray said that there wasn't much that one could do about these white spots... to then go on and list a whole lot of treatments and good habits that may help. 👱♀️❤
@@UncleCharlie111x2 I always call medical doctors "Doctor" out of tespect. I can't help it, even ones that I have known for a long time. The only exception is my brother, who I just call Steven. 👱♀️❤
Can sunscreen cause cancer? I mean, what is that doing to our skin cells? The product is so strong that it blocks a sunburn I think this needs to be spoken about
Dr. Dray, please react to youtuber Chloe Morello’s full face of SPF. Hehe just an idea since you’ve been reacting to videos to give insights to. I think this would be an interest to your audience of makeup wearers who struggle to reapply sunscreen. 💜
I have been prescribed Protopic for my granuloma annulare on my legs. I have white spots on my arms and so might start using it there. Thanks for the info! 👍🏼❤
Definitely developed a few of these in my late teens-early 20s. I started to get one on my face and that’s when I started really focusing on getting rid of them. I asked around and learned it was sun damage, basically avoided hardcore tanning after that and thankfully have gotten them to completely disappear🙌 I now wear sunscreen religiously😅
I had to go back and re-watch this. I realize I actually had that fungus on my back and used Nizoral, on my face I remember I used a ‘dark spot’ correcting cream but it was before I really knew anything about skincare so I can’t remember which one? I know I just went to Walmart and grabbed one, maybe the differin one? Truthfully I attribute part of it to youthful skin that regenerated pretty fast and I stopped baking in the sun, I live on the beach in NC so I had spent ALOT of my youth with no sunscreen since I’m Asian-American and don’t really burn. I want to say it took about a year of little to no sun exposure for them to really diminish, that was probably the biggest thing. When I first got them I tried to tan over them and quickly realized that that did not work and in fact made them worse😂
Unrelated, but Head & Shoulders removed Zinc Pyrithione from their shampoos and conditioners in EU, dont know if the same will/did happen in US. I wonder if there are other brands that incorporate ZPT for haircare.

Dr. Dray, I was told the name was Tinea Versa color. That's what they called it and had a sheet to give me on it. The treatment had to do with getting an Rx selenium shampoo. Which you applied for 20 minutes and then rinsed off. I think the percentage was 2%. What do you think?
I have Tinea versicolor, it's not the same thing. Tinea versicolor has to do with yeast in your body. The spots show up in groups, are usually larger and sometimes flake. What she is talking about is small spots on your skin that lose pigmentation. Oh and Tinea Versicolor usually shows up in areas not exposed, such as back and stomach.
My Tinea versa color must. E different cuz I have it on my arms and legs. But nice to know the difference. When dealing with white spots, I guess it's good to know as much as we can in order to possibly remedy it. But thanks for the facts.
@@carolzabel8234You can have it on any part of your body that is usually covered up. I have them on my thighs and other areas as well. They just usually show up on the stomach and back. My dad's side of the family all have it, I think it's genetic in my case. Also, my brother, dad and I all have different degrees of it. My brothers is barely there, mine is extreme. Dandruff shampoo is usually prescribed for it. Hope that helps. :)

Sun protective clothing is the way to go if work outside.
Consider a sweat band for your head to avoid The drip un your eyes. Also spray sunscreen for the body for reapplying. K Beauty has a Lot of compact sunscreens for The face to reapply to avoid The sticky feeling over the existing one in your face 😊

Thanks for this 👍🏻 Unfortunately I got sunburn as a child and had these at 30. But after years of covering my arms and using SPF my arms have lost the tan pigment and you can't see any spots. I'm proud of how my diligence to sun protection every day has given me back my beautiful completion 😊
Very encouraging! That’s great to hear, good job! I’m on that same mission. I don’t have a ton of sun damage (I’m 54 yo) but I’m still excited to see my “new” skin after a few more years of doing what Dr. Dray has taught me.
So is the trick , not to tan ??
Did they vanish with spf ??

Thanks so much for discussing this topic. I have IGH on my forearms and lower legs. When discussed my concerns w/my derm, she was very dismissive. So glad to know that the condition can be addressed. I've been looking at the bios of several docs in my area. Guess I'll be seeing a different derm!
Did u manage to do anything? My doc said just no sun never tan :((

I have been dealing with these on my arms for the last several years now, but they've started coming out on my forehead more recently. Nobody seems to be discussing them! Thanks for the info! All my spare $$ is going into topical vit A lol.
Lol
Do they itch like crazy too? Mine itch so badly sometimes I can't stand it !!!!!
Yes! I have a few on the back of my calves! I actually had one that was crusty and raised. I went into my dermatologist and he took a biopsy. It was fine. 👍🏼 Thanks for all your advice! It’s SO MUCH appreciated!
Can i see your sunspot
I started taking vitamin A and mine are going away!
Vit A name ?
Vitamin A name please
whats the name?!?
Did you have a lot of spots? How much but A? I’m so badly disfigured by these there are so many I’m scar to even do outside. I literally haven’t been in the sun in 20 years I move to Florida wear sunblock and I’m so badly spotted. So far too many for any of these treatments to work
Hi
Please let me know how you were taking the vitamin D supplements?
I've got the white spots, although a bit larger than stated. I always thought they were from cat scratches. I live in the Hanes Sport Cool DRI long sleeve shirts from on line Walmart or Amazonian. I'm in NE Florida and I don't get too warm in them. As low as $9US. Otherwise, my arm applied sunscreen just gets on everything (if you use the correct amount). I treat my forearms like my face, sans tretinoin. I use Advanced Clinicals Retinol cream instead.
I have that cream but haven’t started it yet. Does it work?
@@AllyKit First, I LOVE your name! I actually started it on Dr. Dray's recommendation. Back in March-ish 2021, she mentioned that she was going to try to be more consistent with it. Retinol listed as 10th ingredient, Economical, I use a tub every 2 months for $15US. I also layer on alternate Alpha 12%glycolic lotion with Gold Bond Diabetic Relief (has Urea), but AC every night. Definitely better, much softer.crepe not as evident. tiny bit "firmer". And I know it won't get any worse now that I'm taking better care. Good luck!

Very interesting topic, Dr. Dray! My parents both have these and I've always wondered what they are.

I am 59, I have these all over my arms and lower legs, I avoid the sun now.
My Dermatologist prescribed me Protopic! I have Seborrheic Dermatitis and I was having itchy scaly bumps. Protopic did help!
No good protopic
Thank goodness I came across this.I'm a light skinned African woman and I actually thought the white spots were as a result of not getting enough sunlight.I've also been thinking it's hereditary because my mum had them and my sister's too.Surprise surprise.I only apply sunscreen on my face and I have those white spots on parts of my body not the face...go figure.
I also thought mine were from not enough sun; although I grew up in the tropics I was always in pants, rarely wore shorts, and wore skirts and dresses in the office.
I sooo hate them 😒
I notice these white spots on my legs and inner arms in my 60’s but I rarely were shorts anymore and don’t sun bath. As a black woman I thought it was due to loss of melanin from a lack of sun exposure in my later years.

Dr. Dray, please react to youtuber Chloe Morello’s full face of SPF. Hehe just an idea since you’ve been reacting to videos to give insights to. I think this would be an interest to your audience of makeup wearers who struggle to reapply sunscreen. 💜

Please please tell me what u did to get rid of them 🙏🙏🙏🙏
What did you do?😃
@@blackbird6491 I'm desperate to know
I had to go back and re-watch this.
@@setsukoswain1623 the fungus is different though to the smooth flat white sun damaged ones .. did u have both?

Unrelated, but Head & Shoulders removed Zinc Pyrithione from their shampoos and conditioners in EU, dont know if the same will/did happen in US.

Hi Dr. Dray. Thanks for the informational videos as always..♥️
My golfing husband has these all over his arms and legs. He is very fair.
