Looking for my books on Amazon? Here they are!
High 5 Habit: amzn.to/3fMvfPQ
The 5 Second Rule: amzn.to/3372Rl9
My mom had a book filled with Christmas stories from her childhood. One of the stories was called the Penny Walk. It was about 2 girls that went on a walk and at every intersection they would flip a coin to tell them what direction they would go. Heads-right; Tails-left. The girls had a fabulous adventure. I did this once with my kids when they were little. No reason I couldn’t do this as an adult!
Oh, haha! I'd get SO lost!

It’s a fantastic story.
Sometimes, although I’d like to adventure, I don’t know how or don’t have enough braveness.
But coin can help me.
🎉
Great idea 😂
I have been feeling very down lately and extremely bored so this hit the nail on the head!! It’s super important to see new sites
Good for you!!!!! ❤
Listened to this as I drive to try new yoga experience…trapeze yoga. Fun and look forward to practicing something new. A month ago joined two running groups and one is a trail running group. New things means new people and more support and opportunities for fun. So glad I have recognized how wonderful it is to be open. So confidence boosting. Mel has been a huge part of me discovering this. This video is right to the point of what I am doing. ❤
This is a great idea. I definitely need a list because I’m always saying “I should do that” but when it comes time to do something, I can’t come up with anything that I want to do. Thanks Mel!
OMG EVERYTIME I COME TO TH-cam! POOF! its something I need!!!!! Every one of your videos! love you!
In the beginning of this video, I thought it was going to be about saving money, to go to different places around the world, to make life more exciting. Never gave it much thought, to step out side of your back door and just see things in anew light. My husband and I have a beautiful back yard. I have never really sat down and looked at nature closely! And it’s free!! I’m going to start making list of things to do and go see! Thank you!🥰
Nothing like waking up to a new video from my favorite superstar! These videos are so educational and informative and are just what I need to keep me going through all the tough times. Thank you, Mel!💙
Thank You so much for what you do!! You walk with me early every morning
I related to every word of this. I have lived in the same town for 34 years and I am in such a rut! Mel is right, there are things I have never done, places I have driven right past. Thank you for inspiring me to get out of my rut!
The timing couldn’t have been more needed. Became an empty nester yesterday and feeling so paralyzed! Heeding this advice starting today!
Empty nesting was so much harder than I thought it would be! Five years later and I am still trying to navigate my new life.
It’s especially hard when you’re alone. The house is waaaay too quiet!
1. Go to a new store
2. Go down a street you've never been down before
3. Go to a public place like a museum, gallery, or library you've never been to
4. Try a new type of food or cook something new
5. Join a sports league or volunteer
When you've finished exploring your town, start over and explore the surrounding towns. Have fun!
Thank you!!
I’m doing this starting today!!!! Thanks Mel!!
Practice what you preach. I was obsessed with going to Europe and never made it!
Love this guidance. On a previous episode, you spoke of finding the right coffee shop for yourself in your area. I'd been down on my town, Schenectady, lately, thinking about moving. I took your advice and went to Arthur's Market in the historic district, and wow, felt like I'd stepped into Greenwich Village. From there I explored more. Took in a show that was passing through one night, and we were amazed to see th restaurants hopping and all the buzz around Proctor's Theater, downtown was pulsating. Yeah, before I condemn this place, I need to get out more. I'm always rewarded by adventures.
That sounds like fun!
Loved this episode. Being in Oz, and loving to travel each year to northern Australia, this year I couldn’t go. It’s a cold winter and kinda challenging to get motivated. I realised after hearing this just how many places in my own backyard I’ve dismissed as boring. Today I’m heading out, first to tourist info, then taking myself somewhere. With the camera with an unjudgemental curiosity. And going there on every road I’ve rarely driven to get there. Thanks Mel.
Great ideas and perfect for me right now!
I really needed this today. Thank you so much for all you do Mel! 🥰😘
Loved this and you and waiting on the edge of my seat for the next
This is awesome!! I finally visited a store from my screenshots and discovered its in the middle of so many new places i cant wait to go back!!
I went to an intro to paddle boarding class offered by the city last weekend. It was so amazing & fun!! I signed up to go again next Sat. Thanks Mel ❤
I really appreciate this session it was wonderful I really appreciate your work keep going ❤🎉
Mel thank u for the inspiration. I'm going to share these ideas and you of course in my wisdom Wednesday group! Love ya!!!
I started teaching myself songs in Spanish in order to learn this new language. Then I started showing up for Spanish karaoke and it was one of the most fun things I've ever done in my life.
Love this!!!❤
I also loves this game. Fun venturing out
I love this! This was me in my teens.I went every where and explored on my own. But after being married 32 years with three grandkids and two adult sons. My routine is so stagnant lol. Thank you for the reminder and the inspiration❤
I used to do that in college, i LOVE stationary and art supplies so i would research every art supply store near and far, small or big, and make time in my schedule for it, even when i had to commute in public on my way home i would drop by the near stores. And now that i have money and my own car 😂 i find joy in exploring bakeries and cafe shop all by myself ❤❤ i seriously need to go back to this habit especially with all the pressure from work and masters studies.
Love this episode, Mel. It is just about the small things for joy and happiness. So true! Thank you!
Yes, I can relate to what you saying
I do house sitting as a side hustle and love exploring new neighbourhoods. Cafes, markets, parkland, exercise classes are always on my to-do list.
Love from Australia. 🇦🇺
Wow love this so much! Thanks for this, will definitely do it ❤
It's so true that you don't have to be rich to shake things up a little, to experience the world in another perspective. You don't need to necessarily go to fancy Seychelles and Maldives vacation in order to gain more exciting adventures. In the city/town where you live or in the surrounding area, you can expose yourself for new things. You just have to get out of your house and putting yourself out there to new places, new situations. Really, let's ditch the online shopping what we get used to when the pandemia started in 2020. Let's go to the new shops which just opened newly in our town, who knows, maybe we bump into somebody with whom we will gonna make lasting friendship. There are so many opportunities forward us, maybe we are just not aware of them. Great podcast, worth thinking about the "never been there and the never done that before".
This is exactly how I came up with my 50x50 bucket list! Things I haven’t seen or done. Some local, some a distance.
Now I felt why most of us are so bored personalities cause of no any idea things to do just same daily routine. I also felt that so I started to do new things, new experiences, new adventures ❤😍💯.
I usually planned to go somewhere which I wanted to go in my mind when I needed to go somewhere for the job.
I love this episode
Yes ma'am I do go out to beach some times and go to market or church on Sunday morning
Some of the ideas are really great. However repetition is not a failure. ask the waves, ask the leaves and ask the wind. Being grateful for the small things is crucial especially when dealing with anxiety. Always looking for something and thinking life is not as good makes you miss small things passing us by as well. A bit of both I think Just a thought
Thank you Mel for bringing up this topic. It seems it was meant for me to hear. Every day it's the same thing, this advice is very helpful 🥰
This is good time. I have a quiet couple of months coming up over the summer. Which is an opportunity to do a lot of things I have been meaning to do for a long time i.e. sort my garden out, paint the bathroom. I was making my list of tasks when I thought perhaps I should do some fun things as well. Almost as the thought left my mind this video popped up. I have 11 things on the 'Fun List' already and am going to add to it. Wishing everyone a good fun summer.
We are playing the alphabet game. The rule is to go to a place to eat or have a drink that starts with that letter. We have tried several new places so far. Some are worth going back to. So much fun.
Here in Dallas, there is a historic Swiss Ave home tour on Mothers Day weekend. I finally went and it is amazing to have the chance to tour these historic mansions! Each year its a different list of homes.
I love this, I started looking into my town and finding places I never knew existed 3 years ago and it has been amazing. I haven't had time to venture out lately but listening to this video makes me want to put things on the calendar and go exploring again. Thank you for the reminder.
I love this! This is accessible to everyone and a topic that I’ve never seen approached. Thank you for doing this show!
Love this Mel! I moved to a new city in December. I made it my goal to do something new every day even if it's just trying a new coffee or going to a new park. I keep a list in the back of my planner and everyday I write the new thing I did that day. 6 months in and it's turning out to be one of the best years of my life! I've met a lot of new peope who have lived here for years and haven't explored this much yet! Highly recommend trying this to anyone stuck in the boredom rut.
Great advice, and I am going to follow it!
Mel, i would like to see you do a very important video to new parents ask them to to learn CPR and Heamlick Manover in case of emergency situation chocking hazard. A crisis can happen to anyone, and ask them to re-educate themselves accordingly y to the child's age as it grows as this changes and is age appropriate. Watch the professionals on you tube to do this and send them a link to watch on your vlog. This is to important to ignore this is a matter between life and death. Also ask parents when they are home to take their baby up and down the stairs using a harness this is a health and safety matter.Esculators are hazards and a harness will protect you and your baby if you cant use a lift. Also it will help carry your baby around instead of preventing hip pain which is common in new mother carrying baby around your hips all the time. Help spread awareness of this issue at then end of this video ask youtubers to spread awareness of this issue and ask them to do the same if they see your video. Lets make this issue a universal understanding.
This made me think of this..I went to a big pool party and people of all ages were in the pool and I was floating on my back and kids said "How did you do that?" and I started showing them then EVERYBODY was trying and NOBODY could do it and I was shocked because I thought this was a simple skill everyone knew how to do! Then I gave a big lecture on how important it is to learn how to do it because if you're ever stuck in water for hours or days, you can't swim the whole time and there's no side to hold onto. We had a tornado scare a few weks ago and my mind went blank. I couldn't remember what I was supposed to do. It's nice to be updated on safety stuff.
The sourdough bread story = GREAT memories with your son, he will be telling that hilarious fail story MUCH longer than had it been a "success" ❤❤
Can’t travel but can watch awesome travel logs😅😅😅❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
So timely i was just telling someone how i was busy bored. I have lots of things that need to be done and i am just bored with them
Just listened to the podcast and I was blown away. I was blown away because changing things up seems so simple.
But Lord help me to change it up because I can get stuck in a rut bad. But there are some good ideas presented. Thank you much for sharing this.
People that are bored are boring.😂
Damn. Mel is standing on BUSINESS with this thumbnail😂
Mel you're a genious - this idea is so simple but so exciting at the same time! I'll do that 100%!
Lithuania🇱🇹 Panevėžys town (rather small, but industrial, so I thought there's nothing fun here)
The greatest ideas are the simplest! Thank you , Mel, for remembering that ❤ when I was a schoolgirl we were looking for adventures with my sister… and yes we have a lot to remember and laugh about)
This video was really necessary for me ❤

Travel is exhausting that’s why travel is called Travail…
This reality hit home with me when I sold my home I lived in for 39 ys in California with my mate of 56 years who passed away in Cali in 22 to travel by car to Florida to re locate. Hubs and I were native Californians it was not hard to leave because of all the crap going on in our home State. I Not taking into account the grief of his loss or the failed Spinal Surgery syndrome in my lumbar and other illnesses, minimizing the trip not even taking into consideration what the trip would do to me …Of course I’d played the Superwoman role all my life. It took 12 days and nights to complete the Exodus. I was in and out of bed for three months at my daughters where I bought a Villa across from her in the Villages. Been dealing with lots of allegries, Asthma and long COVID which I had twice first time in April of 22 which left damage in my lungs and other bodily systems. Been down physically more than up since I arrived. But the greatest gift since here is the precious sweet peace and quite as well as the Verdant beauty everywhere. Fl. Has places that remind me of Pre historic geographical areas with industrial size plant life ,He leads me beside the still waters, he re stores my soul, mind, emotions, will… we have huge ponds and bodies of water and tree’s everywhere of every kind 42 sq miles of beauty. In my reality as a Military brat I’d have to say I wouldn’t take nothing for my journey now…this move has created space for me to grow listening to many of your programs that of Dr. Jacob Peterson taking copious notes from your programs as well as yours, applying the wisdom you both share. Thanks Mel for being here for all of us! thanks for letting me share…La Rue from Fl.
Are you 50 years old
I can't believe it - Mell Robins❤
About new restaurants, sometimes you are afraid of spending good money on something that's not good!! What is familiar and you know that you like it, is more attractive than the unknown!
MEL I would love for you to do a retreat/cruise! ;))))) You are THE ONLY person I would spend 5k 10k and when I get rich 20k to see ;)))) (sorry Tony Robbins! lol) MEL ROBBINS! rules!

Wait are Mel's dogs named Yolo & Homie? Love it 😆
Thank you so much for this. I don't know how to have fun.
I'm sometimes still surprised that you think the average American has the resources to take their whole family to any of the places you mentioned. Most of the people I know are thrilled to go to a beach town that's not too far away. And it sounds like from the comments that exploring locally is news to a lot of your viewers, but the people I know discovered this during the pandemic, it's really how we got through it and we're still hiking at many of those trails. Looking at places you can fit volunteering in to your busy life is also a great thing to do.
Have you taken Oakley to a cooking/ baking class at king Arthur? We loved it!
Mel your advice is so spot on. Moved to a new town recently and every day is a new adventure. Use google map to find the necessities but once there start to explore the neighboring stores or streets. Moved to an over 50 community and have to make an effort to put myself out there, past my comfort zone. Am finding new adventures and new friends. Keep up the great advice.❤
I’m the type of person who loves to experience life but I have to work two jobs and it sucks the life out of me !
You should come in Greece Mel,it is a very beautiful place for holidays, you gonna love it!!😍
Good share. Thanks.
Thank you so many ppl should enjoy the areas they are in more.
Ok❣️
I love Vermont. Go every year. Live in N J. Been to Southern VT many times. Yes there's lots to do just gotta look for it. Will be back in October.

Wonderful and life changing ❤
Or you don't need to wait for a date that works for everyone and just go if you have the money and time yourself
I’m so f$&k’n fed up with life, everything is so dark, I have no interest in anything
Hang in there because things can change in an instant. There are low times in life but they eventually go away. Something good will happen in your life.
So do I , but maybe this is depression and we are mistaken
@@NikkiGregory thank you for your kind words.
❤
Great episode! Loved it and got some ideas on a list now to shake things up 🥰🥰🥰
Great ideas and great video!
Love you Mel ❤ Thank you
Mel Robins❤
I soooo wish you were my neighbor, do I have some ADD stories for you : )
Thank you my friend 🤜🤛💞🌹🙏
Thank you Mel! I needed this! ❤
Most fantastic video ever 👏
Great ideas! Thanks!
Being broke is part of the reason 💀
Guess what! I used to think that too! but when I started aimlessly driving around and finding new places, I have discovered so many places that save me a TON of money! I found a grocery store where I can get $150 worth of groceries for like $60-80. I haven't been able to fill my cart since the 80's! I had gone in a Walgreens and never knew about their orange tag sales. My husband and i mapped out a route of like 11 Walgreens stores and the orange tag sales were different in each one. We have gotten big bottles of expensive vitamins for like 40 cents. We found Haagen Daas ice cream for $1, We found slippers on clearance for like $3 each and they were originally $20 so we got a pair for each family member and stashed them away for Christmas. My pricey makeup is 50% off. We totally stock up on hygiene products so we have toothpastes, shower gels, you name it all stocked up. We just go in and ONLY look at the orange tags and then on to the next Walgreens. Some are better than others but my point is, I avoided exploring because "I was broke" but exploring has ended up saving so much money because of all the great new places and sales tactics I've discovered.
@@laurieclarkson9180I agree with what you said. There are free places to check out like nature centers and trails to walk at a metro park. How about a bike ride then an ice cream. Thrift stores to look for cheap treasures. Volunteer at a shelter.
There are things that are cheap or free. Don’t let low funds stop you. I don’t have money 💰 but I have no joy in my life, no purpose or direction. ❤. I walked a trail yesterday after not exercising for 2 years. I actually cried. Today is day 2 of changing my life!!!
Thanks Mel!!! ❤. What a beautiful podcast! Much love and respect!!!
Love yah Mel! Appreciate your content!
😃
I love this ❤idea so much
Gosh this speaks to me.
I have to think of places, however, I am pretty inquisitive so usually exploring everything. Looking at things, listening to all sounds. Taking the history and nature in. Hmmm. There still must be something to discover.
I am so bored with my own face LOL.. But guess I will stick with it.. Def need something new..
I've re-read parts of my daily journals for the past four years lately. It's almost as if I am living the same year over and over. You have helped me realize that I want desperately to change it up! Thanks, Mel.
The timing on this was absolutely perfect! I actually made my list about a month ago. Now it's time to start checking things off that list😂
Motivation
We live in the middle of the SoCal desert! Still, there must be things we haven’t experienced 😎
