Your clips are a breath of fresh air. It’s fascinating to hear the thoughts of ordinary young Russians. In the west we are no longer getting ANY reports of what the Russian population is thinking. The media has largely abandoned reporting from Russia in fear of taking a wrong step and ending up in jail for 15 years. We are only exposed to what your government and Russian TV are saying… which is terrifying. Seeing your videos, the world is not quite as upside down is it might appear. We really are all the same. Also, I used to spend a lot of time on Reddit. It always seemed like a good digital platform where no one cares about your nationality, race, gender, etc. I gave up on Reddit when I saw many posts like “good Russian - dead Russian” and others similar. I was so shocked and confused. And the most painful thing was that many commentators agreed with this and even joked about it. Sadly Sasaskia there are many people in the world that judge individuals by their nationality only, as if the ordinary people have control over the actions of their government. I have worked in Russia, a friend of mine has a Russian wife, and I can honestly say I have always found Russian people to be friendly and mostly sharing the same human values as we have in the west. The big difference is the control your government has over the population, being more rigid and more punitive than most western countries, such that people are deterred from opposing them even when they disagree with their actions. Do not worry about the people who have blocked you or the anti Russian comments, they are just people who have not yet understood that you as an individual have no influence over your president. I find it amazing that the human race has not yet discovered we are all citizens of the one planet and we should all be working together as one species rather than seeking conflict with one another.

I know it's fashionable now to say that Russia is a fascist state, we are nazis and racists, but ordinary Russian people hate nazism and racism. And it doesn't matter where: Moscow, St. Petersburg or the province. That is why some people in Russia approve of the "special operation" - they believe that if it is a fight against the nazis, then it is good. So the government just takes advantage of their hatred of the nazis. They also hate russian nazis, so absotutely no nazism and racism, it is a BIG NONO. Of course, in any country there are weirdos, but I've never met them in my life. You definitely wont have any problems because of your appearance, because we constantly see people with such appearance around, Russia is a very multinational country, and Russians are not only white slavs, we're a very mixed people(for example, I'm slav-adyghe). I'm sure, no one will even understand that you are not local until you speak up.
If you have a problem, people around you will be happy to help a foreigner. The guy above correctly said that we really love guests.
But I really wouldn't recommend you make your trip right now. The situation is too tense, people are also tense. They will not treat you badly, but many feel tense because they think that the sanctions are a manifestation of aggression from Europe. Well, the Americans did not receive any sanctions for many invasions from their side, why then did they impose sanctions on ordinary russian people
? The sanctions are really aimed at ordinary people, I just don't want to lengthen an already long message(a ban on the supply of medical equipment, the exclusion of our doctors from the community of oncologists, the refusal to treat russian children and many more. Even I lost my only source of income when ALL sites I worked with banned me because I am a russian fine artist). Ah, and we're expesting to hear from foreigners that we are guilty for not overthrowing Putin or something like this, we're SO, EXTREMLY tired of this. Again, I didn't notice the americans overthrew their government, but nobody blames them(we don't blame them too) because everyone understands that as a normal people americans just don't want to have anything with politics, they just want to eat well, work, take care of the family, BBQ on weekends.
So I don't recommend you to travel right now, everyone expects to hear blaming from foreigners, blaming our coutry(we love our country very much).
If there is some problem with the cameras, then you just won't get a visa, but I think it's unlikely. In addition, I do not recommend you to go to the demonstration here. Not because there is no freedom of speech here(although you may also have problems, as unauthorized actions often end up in the police), but because we REALLY don't like demonstrations (they often organize pogroms), it makes us very nervous. Protests do not work here (well, I'm not sure if they really work in the rest of the world either), so citizens are simply annoyed by this senseless activity and tension, the possibility of pogroms.
Also now there are problems with payment in Russia, your Visa/Mastercard wont work here, so the only way out is to take cash.

The Russian government expresses the political apathy of the Russian people. If a people are apathetic towards politics, then they are giving permission to their government to do whatever it wants.

Просто не хочется жить после этих комментов, сколько ненависти в людях, которую они готовы вылить просто, чтобы им самим жилось легче.. Буллинг, это то, с чем я сталкивалась в школе, это ужасно

Russophobia exists, especially in Europe. I'm already silent about Internet and online games. All Russians know playing with Poles, for example, is a fckn hell. They will ruin your game and constantly insult you. But even in real life Europeans hate Russians.
I was in Czech Republic twice and it seems Czechs don't want Russian tourists. When you speak Russian with your friend on the tram, other passengers look at you with hostility. Czech waiters appear unfriendly when serving Russians. I was advised not to eat in restaurants because Czech waiters can spit on beer or food if the guest is Russian. I read reviews on TripAdvisor and many Russians say it's better not to go eastern European countries. At the reception you may have problems, nobody will rent you a room if you are Russian. Waiters are rude, you will be poorly served with low quality food. Random people can insult you, everywhere you will catch sidelong glances and get a dismissive attitude.

I'd assume people in central Europe might don't like Russians for various reasons but it seems exagerated as fck. Especially the part about language. Do u understand that we have milions of Ukrainians here (many came after 2014) and in Poland at least some portion of Belarusians, and most of people cant even differentiate these languages? Also many Ukrainians that came are russian-speaking so it's even harder to know. And about spitting (XD) how do ppl even know it?
