  • I totally randomly met the interesting owner of a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, Frank. He has so many cool stories of the way the car scene used to be. Additionally, he is the original owner of this car and bought it just down the street from the video location in 1970! Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, he is selling it. I wish I had the cash for it. These are becoming harder and harder to find! Check out how all this unfolded because you just can't make this stuff up! Enjoy! Have a great day!

    If the old guy put as much effort into restoring it as he does talking crap, it would have been restored years ago... it will NEVER get restored.

    Cool car but a whole lot of work and expense there to restore it. Who knows what parts he has and if you could find them. Those trucks are pretty rough too. Just subbed to your channel.

    My dad bought his first car in the 1980s, and it was a 1969 Camaro (real) z/28, in Cortez silver, with black stripes, sadly the original owners blew up the engine in a drag race, and put another engine in, anyways, that car is long gone now, just thought I would share the story!

    Helloooooo!!!!!! Anybody that knows anything about racecars KNOWS that the term " FUNNY CAR" came from altering the wheel base by moving the differential ahead thus transferring the weight more over the rear wheels giving the car more traction.
    No offence to old Frank , I m sure he ment well

    • @kickit59
      @kickit59 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In today's market it's probably worth the 10K but like you say 7 or 8 would probably buy it! I have owned 1 67 RS Camaro & 7 69 Camaros during my life. I would buy one & improve it a bit & when another one came along that I liked better I would buy that one & sell the old one. Back in 1998 I bought a really clean Green 69 with auto & console for 6 grand. It was a really clean driver quality car that you could get into & go anywhere you wanted to go! One of the cooler ones was a Black 69 with 350, auto with mint original interior, 17 year old black paint that was still extremely nice with front & rear spoiler & rallye wheels for 17.5K in 2005. I sold it to buy a Lemans Blue 69 RS/Z28 a few years later. My last 69 Camaro was a RS/SS Green convertible with manual trans that was extremely nice. Anyhow I am car crazy over 69 Camaros!

    The reason the prices of these cars are so high is the Japanese and Chinese came over to America in the early 90s and bought tons of these classic and they are sitting in huge warehouse in there country. Sad. But that is what it is.

    • @chieftp

      Japanese and Chinese people came over here and bought tons of 20 year old Camaros? uh, no.

    • @jasonwise6099
      @jasonwise6099 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chieftp I've seen the warehouses full of them. Yes !!!! I've been at the auctions watching them pay crazy money. They didn't buy them all bro but they bought tons of them and created an artificial market that drove the prices up. You think Americans are the only ones that like Camaro and muscle cars ??

    • @chieftp
      @chieftp 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      so, why would someone from another country come here and buy 20 year old cars and stick them in a warehouse? what did that accomplish? also, what is an "artificial market?" most of these cars ended up wrecked or sitting in some trailer trash's front yard rotting. that's why there aren't many left in nice condition. this video is a good example.

    • @jasonwise6099
      @jasonwise6099 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hopefully he does build it. I agree. As far as to many stock ones? I don't know them rears of cars are getting hard to find. Stock is worth more if it's a ss or a rs/ss. That was my only reason for saying it. Yea you can tub it and do what you want but how much are you gonna hurt the value of a restored mint car? If it's a rot box Yea make it race car. If it's solid keep it stock.. Coman sense . Peace!

      Show him $6500 cash. 10k too steep. 10-15k won't make that a gem unless it's all in house. 5k+ in body wheels & paint alone...interior, suspension sheesh the list continues to give that car the treatment it deserves. I've seen 69's more complete online for less than 10k this week.

    • @squidusn71
      @squidusn71 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Trevor Gamble it really depends on the condition, options, and what is left of the original drive train. I bought a 69 roller that needs body work. I'll be damn if I want to put back the original 6 banger, auto tranny, and open diff in it let alone try and find it. It will be boring to drive. So why waste time and energy to find those parts when I can put an LS3 crate, tko600, a Moser 12 bolt rear, mini tub, and ridetech suspension in it?

    • @jankydriveway4694
      @jankydriveway4694  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ray Garduque good point. I didn’t get a chance to see the condition of the original 350/400. If they were “rebuilt” that might make the price worth it. How much did you get your ‘69 for.

    First off tub it? (Cringe) But what in the blue blazing hell!!!
    He wants to lengthing it??? Someone needs to make a program that people can build their project on a computer and actually see what their (nightmare) project would turn out like. But not their build but compare it to building it each vehicle back to original, street car,resto mod etc. And show them what each build when finished what it would be worth. How much to build each. Etc.
    Then most of these people could see what a mistake they are making.
    Just my thoughts.
    P.s. i understand everyone has their own vision of their dream car. But yikes

      Both of you guys are wet behind the ears. For $10k if it is a solid body car, it is a good deal. Especially if he has the original motor/trans/rear. It sounds like it is an original SS? If it is and just needs assembly, not bad. Try looking for a running 69 camaro in the same condition as this car. At the cheapest for a solid body plain jane 69 running car, your looking at , at least 15k. So, can this car be assembled and driven for 5k? I would say "yes". You have to be able to recognize a diamond in the rough. (10k is way to much if this car has any rust, or major mods)

    • @jankydriveway4694
      @jankydriveway4694  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      bullitt65 He did say he has the engine and trans in his garage. I never did see it tho. Who knows. It would need all the little stuff like glass, interior, tires and all the rubber hoses/lines. To the right person that may be a deal. To me (as you can see from my project vehicle) it’s a little out of my price range. And that’s an understatement.
