Camera guy doing a great job. A lot of handheld video looks like the camera is suspended by a bungee cord. The camera is swinging side to side. Or they’re jerking the zoom all the time.

Just an FYI - mopars run the starter on the driver's side due to the offset of the engine to the passenger side - engineers believed there was more room on the driver's side because of this - also remember you're working on a column shift manual car which was actually relatively uncommon - most column manual cars were slant 6 engines with WAY more room. Glad to see the old gal light off - glad you explained that timing trick for some of the viewers - -
Look before trying to revive a muscle car. Make a check list of things you need and go buy them. Replace the items that should be replaced. Drain the old oil and take the valve covers off. Reset valves. Pour oil over them. Change oil filter. Fill oil with the right grade and weight. Drain anti freeze replace thermostat. Plugs, Plug wires, pump out old gas, replace with fresh gas, replace fuel filter. Check trans fluid and put the right fluid in it to the right level. Buy new battery to have the power to start the engine. When your ready to try. Rebuild carb. Because these old carb's are full of crap. The gaskets and floats are shot. New cap and rotor and points or file the old ones. Check the rearend fluid and change with right rear gear oil. Last if the engine is good and running then check and replace brake pads rotor and drums. Don't take the chance that a master cylinder is bad and trash a good old muscle car because your cheap or lazy. If this car is a good candidate to be brought back to life. Check it over before even trying to revive or it's worth the time or money. If you can't afford to bring it back to life. Sell it to someone who can. Sooner or later these relics will run out. We should try and save a car era that means so much to the Baby Boomers. Shawn

Something worth remembering too is that an old or worn starter will pull the battery voltage down low enough so that the ballast resistor which normally drops 13.8 to 8 ish volts with good current to 10 or less volts to nothing when cranking hence No Spark. I ALWAYS hotwire both the ignition and start to the battery when im playing with unknown quantity cars or you just end up chasing ghosts. Love your work Fellas

Love watching this video. Had a 1970 Belvidere back in the day. Could always buy cheap parts at junkyards and get it up and running. That 318 was bulletproof and light. Up north, the rust ate these unibody cars up fast. When working on the brakes, we jacked the front up then had to wait an hour before the doors lined up to close em, lol. Loved that car and got many offers for it even in rough condition.
you guys are very entertaining and super-intelligent about internal combustion engines. Those engineering degrees were not a waste of time. My son completed his electrical eng. literally this week and he's saved me & some of my buddies during our projects many times.

Single ballast mopars don't power the coil while cranking. Put a jumper relay on the starter relay to provide power to the ballast resistor when the starter relay is energized. It makes them start a lot faster. Also, the distributor is keyed, not geared, so you can pull it out to set the points. It will eiher be right, or 180 off when you put it back. Cheers!
My fathers first car was a 70 satelite and was the car I was brought home from the hospital in. My earliest memories involved that car. Unfortunately I believe his car was sold several times and ended up in the crusher. Great videos guys save these pieces of history before they are lost forever
Man...that's an oldschool Chrysler starter for sure. Loving the grinding marbles as it winds down after the bendix drive disengages. As kid we used to pick out and guess the car just by the sound of the starter. Chrysler products were unique to say the least.

Always drop the oil. Water settles to the bottom, won't necessarily show on the dipstick. On startup water goes to the bearings and people say "aww man, I guess it was parked because of a rod knock." Oil is what? $12
Fun watch as always! Need to start using Shell Rotella T4 or regular Rotella 10w30 or 15w40. Need that Zinc and ZDDP for these old motors! Keep up the great content! 💜🤘

You'd love the brake bleeders on my 74 GMC Sierra. Fronts are 3/8ths, back brake bleeders are 10mm... So at least I know the rear brakes have been serviced at some point.
On the timing, I use a test light hooked to points . Set timing mark to 12 degrees btdc. Turn dizzy, when the light goes off I know that's when to try to start engine. Works every time.

First thing I check when maybe bring an old sitter back to life is pressure testing the cooling system to listen for bubbles, hisses and of course any squirting. Then is carb totaly gummed and then some oil in the jugs.

@Junkyard Digs - Tip for finding #1 cylinder, when looking at the offset of the heads the cylinder protruding forward the most is always #1
