  • Thanks for watching plinkers!
    I know I said I'm sorry (sorry, Canadian habit) multiple times for the duration but, tbh, if you do not have 1 hour to dedicate to being guided through this process I promise you will probably spend 1 hour extra taking this all apart and risk losing or damaging parts.
    Upper receiver and handguard breakdown : • Crosman DPMS / R1 / MP...
    Assembly preparations : • Crosman DPMS, MPW, R1,...
    Full assembly : • Crosman DPMS, MPW, R1,...

    I took mine apart to see if I could swap out the stock (found out the hard way that I couldn't), and this video came in for the save and helped me figure out how to reattach my upper reciever to my lower reciever. It turns out I had the metal piece in the charging trigger backwards and it wouldn't let me pull the charging handle back. Anyway thanks for the help 💯

      Hehe, it happens to the best of us xD
      Just curious (maybe I can help)... what model do you have? And by swapping out the stock I'm assuming you mean the buffer tube/lower extension? The actual stock is milspec on all the models but the dpms and is replaceable

    Very nice videos…most new shooters of these rifles have no idea how many parts are in them.

      Thanks xD I am always amazed how well crosman did making all the replica functions and making it work with a hammer/striker fire hybrid system.

    I just ordered a black R1. I was under the impression that they all are pretty accurate as far as BB guns are concerned. Now I'm concerned that my R1's POI will be 7 inches off like yours was.

      Out of my 5 ARs and 1 AK1 it was the only one. I wouldn't be too worried, a good field strip and cleaning should get it running fine. I still need to make a follow up video to show you guys but this one is plinking great now, the only thing I could find was the excess plastic from the molding seams. Maybe it was causing unnecessary stress on the barrel.. maybe it was bad assembly from the factory.
      Edit: and btw, if it's acting weird start with a regular field strip, no need to completely disassemble like I did here.

      @RWMAirgunsmithing that would be great if you could make a video on how you go about getting your Crosmans to shoot true if they come out of the box missing the mark. I'd really appreciate it, and I'm sure many others would as well. I'm a collector/plinker of CO2 replica airguns, but until recently, I've strictly stuck to pistols. I have a lot of them. Cleaning and maintaining them is a breeze. A few months ago, I picked up the Springfield Armory M1 carbine with wood stock, and it's soooo awesome! Then I got the Umarex cowboy rifle that actually ejects shells when cocked. Again, soooo awesome! Now I got the R1 otw. I bought a few basic accessories for it, including a detachable carry handle for it. I actually asked you in another video about yours and where you got it because I'm not sure if I got a good one. Anyway, yeah I'm really trying to get a grip on how to maintain these rifles. I know I can mostly transfer what I do on my pistols to my rifles, but there're differences and small learning curves to tackle. Like you, I like to make sure I know what I'm doing thoroughly before I do it. 👍

    • @RWMAirgunsmithing
      @RWMAirgunsmithing  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@Modrost7274 hmm do you mean the fire control group assembly inserted into the lower receiver or the shiny cylindrical part Crosman calls the "hammer" that is in the bolt carrier?
      The hammer that is in the BCG should just fall out, if it doesn't slide out by gravity there might be something causing it to be wedged inside the bolt carrier. There is no mechanical connection for that part.
      The fire control group is all one assembly (contrary to a real one), the fire selector switch and the magazine catch/release mechanism must be completely removed for the fcg to slide out.

    Hey have you broken into your trigger assembly box yet? After idk how many thousands of rounds I finally had a small piece of metal break off in my trigger box and now my trigger doesn’t work. Haven’t heard back yet from Crosman but all I need is a tiny part called N5 I think.

    • @RWMAirgunsmithing
      @RWMAirgunsmithing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry I've been slacking, I'll bump this to the top of the list though, it would pretty much finish off the crosman series. Stay tuned!
      As for the part that broke, I think maybe you would have a better chance bringing the broken pieces to a metal shop and see how much they would charge to make one. I'll try and dive into the breakdown ASAP.

    What do you think of replacing the upper and the lower receiver with metal receiver? Could it be possible? The airsoft receiver parts arent that expensive just makes me wonder. I love the DPMS but at sometimes the plastic makes me feel uncomfortable

    • @RWMAirgunsmithing
      @RWMAirgunsmithing  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ya it is possible, the upper and lower are 100% mechanical so if the parts fit the airgun will run.
      Most mods will only do the handrail though, swapping the upper and lower would require fitting and tinkering the BCG and FCG into the new receivers as these parts are custom Crosman and are not milspec. If I had access to a full metal shop I would definitely attempt it xD.
      The only performance issue I have encountered with the polymer they use is the fact the handrail kinda curves upward towards the barrel end, making zeroing lasers very difficult. I still use my Crosman from 2018 and the only part that broke on me so far is the bolt catch (which is made of metal 😂😂).

    So what should I do if my buffer spring gets stuck in the but stock area?

    • @RWMAirgunsmithing
      @RWMAirgunsmithing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you can't twist/jiggle/tap them out (without damaging it xD) then I would punch out the rear pin on the buffer tube, remove the entire guide rod and springs and untangle them from there and hope nothing is mangled.

    Any chance to replace upper and lower receiver and the RIS handguard with aluminium ASG parts? Thank you for the video!

    • @RWMAirgunsmithing
      @RWMAirgunsmithing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The handguard can definitely be swapped, not sure what brand fits the best, it is usually done with an airsoft rail. I wont say changing the upper and lower is impossible but for sure you will probably have to make the internals fit, it would be one impressive project.

    • @Marcin79W
      @Marcin79W ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RWMAirgunsmithing Thank you for getting back! I appreciate it!
      I'll try with the handguard for sure. I'm not sure if I want to go for upper and lower, I did it ages ago with a Tippmann paintball marker, I cut off everything I could and fit the paintball marker inside the ASG body. It looked amazing, but was working only on semi, I was getting it jammed when I tried full auto (paintballs were feed with spring and I'm not sure what was wrong there, spring should be fast enough).
      Since then I'm cautious with reworking anything with internals.
      Keep doing videos, very helpful! Thank you.

    • @RWMAirgunsmithing
      @RWMAirgunsmithing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Marcin79W yeah, it might not always seem like it but the tolerances on airguns and firearms are pretty tight when it comes to proper function.
      A little too much pressure (or not enough) on a part or just a hairs difference in sizes between 2 parts can affect performance.

    Hey I'm looking to replace my bolt catch (it snapped in half). Is it available as a single part or do I need to purchase the entire trigger assembly? Do you know where I could source that?

    • @RWMAirgunsmithing
      @RWMAirgunsmithing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have tried ordering the parts from crosman but some are out of stock and the pieces to the bolt catch all come separated. I only received 1 part of the assembly and it wasn't the one I needed:/
      I have seen comments in forums of plinkers who jerryrig their broken ones. If the paddle and the swivel part are not broken, it is possible to 'make' the inside parts work depending on where it broke.

      @@user-nj8yh2ye2l hmm so the actual lever/catch is not broken and you still have the swivel part?

    • @RWMAirgunsmithing
      @RWMAirgunsmithing  ปีที่แล้ว

      All real AR mil spec pistol grips will have that "gap". The problem is not the grips but the fact that the crosmans are only 99% milspec.
      I have not tried every single brand but so far it seems like the crosman grip and lower receiver are only 99% milspec and not completely 100% compatible.

    • @RWMAirgunsmithing
      @RWMAirgunsmithing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would require opening the fcg and replacing/remachining the disconnector and possibly other parts. Very expert level and tool heavy mod.

    • @ShaunShearman
      @ShaunShearman ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to replace the stock (non-FA) disconnector with a FA version and a small coil spring (which keeps the part out of play until you select FA in the fire selector switch), you can make the part yourself with some trial and error testing. For a rough idea of the shape download the Crosman DPMS schematic direct from Crosman.
