The fact that she thought everyone would blame her for abortion being made legal, when she was a literal child, shows just how messed up this world has become.
Well it must have been her parents, bc if you listen, even the people most strongly against a mother's right to kill her own child in her womb, would never blame an innocent child for it, that is exactly the opposite of their cause.
I CAN'T BELIEVE reporters jumped her walking down the street and heartlessly broke the news that she was not only adopted, but that she is the Roe baby. How disgusting. I'm glad she grew up in a loving, supportive family; its hard to imagine how much worse things could've been for her.
I think that was the part that tipped the scales for me. Provided that everything said in this interview is the truth, I no longer defend NC as a pro life advocate and that’s a shame to me cuz we did need her but we needed an honest advocate not a pawn in someone’s power game or a con artist vying for attention and money. One of the 10 commandments is Thou shalt not bear false witness. That’s what happened here and there’s no telling what the ramifications will be down the road.
Well, she could have ended up in pieces in a dish as abortion nurses attempt to put back her cut up body so as to ensure that no pieces of her own body would still be in her mother's body. I think that would have been worse.
OK, as a Christian, I can tell you: God would NEVER tell ANYONE to bomb a clinic, no matter what treatment or surgery they are performing. We value LIFE above all things, and that goes for EVERYONE! How dare they do such hate crimes saying "God told them to". That's blasphemy and shameful!!!! This is a touchy subject, but as the Bible says, "let's REASON together."
Isaiah 1:18, where the prophet says to Judah, “'Come now, and let us reason together,' says the Lord, 'Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. '”
I agree but the Christian faith emphasises faith and Abraham is praised for his willingness to sacrifice his son although he was stopped in the nick of time. The Old Testament is filled with examples of God telling people to kill people for one thing or another including committing genocide. I agree people should question any voice in their head that says its God. People think God has guided them to this or that or spoken to them. It's wrong but it's what a lot of people believe. The bombing of abortion clinics is something almost no one of any religion would ever do but unfortunately when a religion teaches that God speaks to people and has as much bloodshed as The Old Testament contains it is going to sadly result in some awful stuff. Plus I suppose the notion of the sacrificing people for the greater good eg lots of innocent people are killed in wars does send a message that the ends justify the means. It's appalling killing abortion doctors but in their minds it's justified and they are protecting the innocent from killers. I agree it's horrible and can't be allowed to happen though. I guess it's like stopping terrorists. If someone thinks doing the wrong thing is in fact the right thing change their minds is hard.
@@jamesrobertson432 those “Christians” are not christians. “If a man says he loves me, but hates his brother he is a liar and is not of me” What do you mean by genocide? @@bigred4379 True.... In the fact that it had taken the supreme court 50 years to undo their mistake. Notice you said "law was passed." And that's what they did despite them not being a law making body. Sure, they have an effect on laws via interpretation but this was creating a law with the weakest constitutional support they could find, which does not stand up to the weakest scrutiny" for something the constitution does not discuss. And it had taken 50 years for the court to grow a spine and consider reversing the deadlock they created on the people and the representatives to make their own laws. The fact that this is still just as contentious shows how significantly the 1973 court erred and made itself a political body. It's also pretty interesting that despite the hundreds of petitions to the supreme Court to consider limiting or overruling Roe, the many times Democrats had full control over government they never took the time to codify roe into actual law instead of just a court precedent that acted like one.
I think that kind of signals lasting damage. Resentment is not healing. It's a good thing she has her biological sister to connect with and garner an understanding of her mother. We need abortion protection to come back so the idiocy of people like the judge in Ohio who denied a 10 year old incestual rape victim the right to have a potentially lifesaving medical procedure done can be prevented.
I remember how my mother wanted to abort me when she was pregnant with me. I don’t talk to her, she raised me and my childhood was living hell. So much hell I left the country and had my daughter here. Those two women were given a chance in life growing up with two beautiful families. I used to run away from home. Not all families are family. The mother didn’t do well in life, but at least she did good knowing that she wasn’t good enough for them to raise them, that she was a dark person. Not all mothers can raise a child, not all parents can be nurturing parents.
Like she said, she had absolutely nothing to do with this. I'm glad she and her half sister found each other and have a loving bond. That right there is priceless. It's also great that she was fortunate enough to be adopted into a loving, safe and healthy functioning family.
Yep, like her mentally unstable mother who helped legalize abortion. When I'm talking to strict anti-abortion people, I like to remind them that a lot of these women aren't women who should even have babies. They're going to traumatize the babies with their liberal human-hating "I should do anything I want without repercussion" ideology. And we don't want more of these kind walking around.
The interviewer was biased and hurt her own message. There are key details to all of this left out meant to paint a very specific picture. As all media is wont to do.
The interviewer kept trying to make "Baby Roe" a victim-hood saint. "Baby Roe" gave a stellar performance & by giving this interview, made herself the "victim." She never spoke to her birth mother, which is her right, & then she refused to forgive that same mother, also her right under "free agency." As I see it, she turns out to be the victim she claimed not to be. I see a book deal in the making, which again is "Baby Roe's" right to do; however, two wrongs don't make a right.
friendly reminder: not all kids that go into the foster care system go into loving homes. most get put into the care of abusive parents. the foster care system is absolutely insane and there are still thousands of children in the system that will most likely be in there until they’re “old enough to take care of themselves”. it’s these rare cases that makes me have hope for the future of this country, but i believe abortion 100% should stay legal because of all of the mental and physical health aspects of it.
You realize that kids will go into adoption agencies and not foster care systems? Literally like 95% of kids who go into the foster care system are from pre-existing households they were born into. So, now you just made an argument for killing kids in foster care, not killing unborn humans. Congrats on supporting genocide!
@anonymous so what's moving in a pregnant woman's stomach? Is she controlling it herself? No it's a baby and it's alive so of course we just kill the ones in the womb when we try to solve out the kids that do suffer even though everybody's going to suffer because that's life
Thank you! In most situations where abortion is desired is where the living situations are going to be bad for a child regardless. Sentencing both a child and mother to a hard life is not fair to either of them. I would’ve been fine being aborted if my birth would’ve cause issues like that
Yeah except let’s remember that shitty parents will keep having children who end up in the system. Abortion does not stop children from ending up in foster care.
I agree with her daughters that their mom was kind of crazy as she moved from pro-choice to pro-life depending on which group would pay her more money of give her publicity. Thankfully her daughters were adopted to loving families because their natural mom never seemed in the right state of mind to raise any of them......Even right until the end their natural mother didn't seem to completely sane.

This is something I would normally never share on social media but due to the current situation. I feel it's necessary to get a point across. I was raped as a 17 year old and became pregnant. Everyone around me pushed for having an abortion. I decided to keep the baby and from something that was the most traumatic experience I my life. Came something that's been the most beautiful and loved thing in my life. I don't look at my son and remember the trauma. It's actually been an extremely healing experience. I cried with joy after I first laid eyes on him. Now everyone regrets pushing for abortion. My parents went white in the face after I mention what could of happened to my son. I never mentioned it again. Why should my son have paid the price for something he no control over? It wasn't his fault and now he's an A student and incredibly gifted athlete

I was adopted and feel like my biological parents made their decision by giving me up as a baby. Now that I am an adult that decision is mine, I have no regrets, for never reaching out to meet them. My adopted parents were my parents they are the ones who raised me and gave me my values. These other people just gave me the opportunity to live which might have turned out differently if abortion was legal when I was born.
For lots of BM it’s a big sacrifice to give up their baby for adoption. I believe that most would want to keep their baby and raise it but they simply have. Other choice
You have no idea what kind of challenges your birth mother was facing. It's possible she was very young, and not supported by her family. She may have been shamed for getting pregnant. She may have been raped. It is not an easy decision to give up a child. She may also have been pressured in to giving you up.
You're lucky. My bio mom got custody of me (she was white my dad is black) and my life was a nightmare bound to her. I finally got away and my dad got custody when I was 14. If abortion is not legalized and unwilling women are forced to endure the pregnancy, programs should be placed to help women recuperate and aid them raise the children they didn't want. And in the first place, many don't want kids because they lack the resources that are affordable and accessible. If not, what's the point of being pro life if we stop taking care of the mother and child after birth?
Well we have like almost the most help to low income people in the world. Public housing, WIC, food stamps, medical assistance, child care assistance, grants to go to college, non profits out there to help low income people. I know people on those programs who honestly live better than a ton of people. Like what more do you need?
The fact that they were both adopted is somewhat ironic (even though they were adopted years before the 1973 ruling). The nurture they experienced from each of their adopted families was absolutely amazing. I admire the courage they displayed in sharing their stories.

I'm in awe of this woman and how she has handled how people have tried to exploit her.
I’ll be out on the open. I am not pro-choice except under extenuating circumstances where there’s an incompatibility with life for either mother and child. But where I differ with you and conservatives completely is that (minimally) pro-life people are not for the child’s right to life at all. Right to life doesn’t stop at birth, it begins. And that means providing care and economic support for them and the parent. And conservatives want to turkey stuff their gullets about protecting the baby’s rights to life while denying them healthcare and access to food and affordable shelter. I’m pro-life, but the buck doesn’t stop there. Most women seeking abortions are economically disadvantaged. That means, if you’re going to force a birth, that means you must be pro right to life, pro healthcare, pro housing, food and education. Conservatives are a bunch of hypocrites!
@@sadepennbrook I’m shocked people like you are out there and it gives me some hope. If I’m not willing to *personally* take responsibility for them, then accept the fact that it’s her body and her decision. I really don’t think the U.S will have a good support system for mothers and kids any time soon, so the best alternative becomes safe, free and easy contraceptives/education and access to abortions if it has to come down to that. There are people in the comments here stating things to the effect of “I was almost aborted, I’m so glad I wasn’t, I love life and I love being alive”. That sentiment isn’t bad, but it only tells people one type of story and one string of emotions. I like being alive, not all the time, but I’m not suicidal by any means. I don’t wish for death. I don’t regret being alive. I love music and flowers and poetry and powerlifting, I care for my family greatly, I try to cherish everything in life I can, I look to the future and I don’t see a blackening tunnel. My mother, however, didn’t like being alive and she didn’t like me being alive either. I was raised in a household where I wasn’t wanted, if I chose to be anything but a figurative doll to dress up and play with, I was treated as if I were less important than everything and everyone else around me. This carried on until I ran away and I haven’t looked back since. I’m in a much better place now albeit, but I still wish my mother had the option to abort me, and I wish everyone in the place of possibly being a mother had that option as well. I could’ve gone to a loving home, I could’ve been given up into the arms of people who wouldn’t have treated me in a damaging way. I could’ve lived a life far from the one I did. I didn’t though, and I will never get my pained childhood, nor the years I spent after patching up what shouldn’t have been broken in the first place, back. It’s good I’m here now, but no one should be forced to have a child they don’t want, no child should be brought into a home that doesn’t want them from before their first breaths. Some might go into good homes, and that’s wonderful, but others won’t. That’s inevitable, yes, but it should be avoided as much as possible. I’m one of the lucky ones, I chose to keep going, I chose to fix what my mother and the people around her broke. Not everyone chooses that route, not everyone comes out with scars; some come out of it with an ashy headstone.
I'm sorry you had those experiences. That's so wonderful that you recognized the things that were wrong in your childhood and put a stop to it. Fortunately, it sounds you have learned from the past and don't repeat the errors of generations' past for your family.
I’m so sorry for what happened to you. I was a case where I should’ve been aborted (not only was I an affair child, I was quite literally killing my mom), but wasn’t. My mom survived and I was a “miracle child”. I didn’t grow up with the same abuse as you, but I lived with my dad for the most part and for a good majority of my life and I wished I was aborted. My dad blamed me for all of his short-comings and was verbally abusive. I never felt wanted and was kept distant from my entire family. I need to talk to professionals, I still haven’t gotten to that point where I’ve gotten help yet, but everyone around me seems to think that I have some form of PTSD from what happened to me as a kid. I straight up cannot interact with children because it reminds me of my past and I get hostile. I refuse to have kids until I get mental help. I’m too afraid that I’ll end up treating a child like how my dad treated me and continue that wretched cycle of abuse. If I were to get pregnant (which I likely wouldn’t considering I practice abstinence), I couldn’t bring myself to put a child up for adoption. It’s too much of a gamble. I would choose abortion if I had to. You put it best: you were lucky, but a lot of us aren’t. Many unwanted children throw in the towel too early and give up on existing, and that’s a choice no one should have to make for themselves. I fear that would become a more frequent issue than it already is if mothers aren’t allowed to make the choice that’s right for them. I hope that maybe one day I might feel healthy enough to start a family, give a child the good life I wish I had when I was their age. But until then, I have a strict “no having kids” policy lol Congrats on breaking the cycle, I hope to be as strong as you one day.
@@simply_a_human Seek life-giving help. You are worth it and did not deserve the bad way you were treated as a child. My mom told me she was going to get one. I was her 3 rd pregnancy, and my older sister was 3 months old. They heard 2 hearts, so she kept me. I’m not a twin, and there was only one baby 😂 we laughed about how I got lucky!! It never made me feel upset or angry. She just seemed more human to me.
I was a surprise baby. My mom would have probably had an abortion with me if I was caught in the first tri, but she only found out 4 months in. I don't blame her, times were rough and we were poor. Only thing of pride I've ever created is my own kid because he's so cool. Other than that though, don't think I'd be too mad about not existing.
She has turned into a wonderful strong women. Her parents raised her right & I agree she is not in the wrong refusing to meet her mother. Her mom was so toxic. I agree that women should have choice & I also don’t blame her one bit for refusing to disclose her own opinions on the subject matter. I’m so happy she and her sister found each other that is a huge blessing!
mistie, good points. i am glad that you said....'you agree that women should have a choice' but not every child or adoptive parents get this kind of attention. in fact, she could have easily gone to an orphanage or foster care. how were these people able to adopt this child in the middle of all the controversy? why did her new parents not tell her the truth? so many questions. i hope she means that she is okay...
One choice we never discuss is the choice to be responsible with that body we yell so loudly about retaining the power over. There would be few abortions needed if women truly had an interest in controlling their bodies.
Thank you for being brave enough to share your story. I didn’t know that you survived. I’m so grateful that you did and that you have a wonderful family and sister.
Very brave! If I remember correctly she (Roe) never actually had an abortion, the lawyers pushed for the whole thing. I heard it a long while ago so don't quote me..
She didn’t survive anything . Her mother fought for a woman’s right to choose the landmark case took a long time to be adjudicated That wasn’t the point. And the fact that her mother had a messy life had everything to do w why she didn’t want a relationship w her . It had nothing to do with the case people. Omg.
Thank you for offering this interview, Shelley. I hope you're doing well during this time. You've made your feelings and thoughts very clear for history, and there was no expectation, no necessity for you to. Again, thank you.
I too was an unwanted pregnancy but in 1970. And I too was placed up for adoption. She is right. It is not about the baby; it is about choice and circumstances and women protecting the family they may already be raising. Do we have a plan for what we are going to do with all of these unwanted babies?
First off, that's why condoms, the pill, the shot, etc/ad nauseam are available. Second, call some adoption agencies and find out how long their wait list is for infants. Some people wait YEARS hoping for a baby. Third, it IS about the baby. Why does their life not matter? Because they are tiny and innocent and growing? Because they need mama to survive? You support murdering an innocent fully developed child based on convenience or the mother not wanting it, and that is utterly abhorrent.
@@kleinemaus6094 1st) Most effective contraceptives are not readily available or affordable for most Americans. To expect them to refrain from sex entirely is at best naive and more than likely not going to happen. Also a woman can get pregnant twice in one year and give birth once. Men on average have between 1-3 virile ejaculations which means they could (although it would awfully difficult 🤔) have upwards over 365 children a year. Why is this always made to be solely the woman's responsibility? 2) Yes, there is a massive wait list for Adoption but the foster care state systems who actually have the children are underfunded, understaffed and often massively failing these children. The Adoption wait list is mostly due to outdated screening procedures and overt costs that dissuade potential adoptive parents. Reform & amendments have been brought up countless times but squashed by the same representatives who are "pro-life". 3rd) You are asking us to put the potential of life over one that's already here. What is the plan for the life you care about after they're born? Are you just as outraged that these precious babies aren't being fed and often have no stable home? @@petresingh4543 yes 🙌🏻👏🏻 You are right ! Everyone condemning a woman who knows she’s not fit to be a mother should at least adopt 2 children as a reward for all those moms who knew they wouldn’t take care of them but decided to give birth. The children should also belong to a minority group because we all know how fast blonde babies find a house - let’s face reality. I don’t understand why people get pissed off at something the woman has stated herself - I won’t be able to take care of this child! We all expect them to go to adoption - genius solution! Cells. It doesn’t not have consciousness. We can’t be bringing babies and make them suffer afterwards. We are talking about basic human needs here - unwanted babies won’t have love and affection from their own moms. Not all adoption stories end up well. The argument that some women/ couples want I child but can’t conceive yet some women are having abortions is bad, is not valid ! If before anything happens and those people can reach to the woman thinking about abortion then great! But what if they give up? What if the woman miraculously gets pregnant... We can’t be living our lives thinking someone out there is going to take care of our mess.
My mother was 15 when she got pregnant with me. Abortion was illegal at the time and my father took advantage of her at a young age. She would have probably gotten an abortion. Family members that were catholic nurses ect said they could take her and let her have me and put me for adoption. My mother didnt want to give me up for adoption. She wanted to keep me if she was to carry me and give birth. It was a very difficult birth and she was hated in by medical staff ect. Shame was brought on the family ect because she was so young. My father and mother did marry. She is a very loving mother and I wouldn't trade her for the world. But, I know that she has a right to her choice. I completely agree with a woman having her right to choose. Im pro choice and pro life. The children that are alive today that have no one and who are abused and neglected are what I really worry about. Men need to be looked at in this too. Some may need to be jailed and some need to be castrated. No one spoke about the things that went on in families for a very very long time, but, when it did come out they always blamed the woman.
@@levidoss15 yes I can if you understand what I'm saying. So, if you have children, take care of them. But, if you are a guy, then dont say anything. Either you get it or you dont. It's my choice!
I was gonna say what Levi said tbh. Although I would add that "pro choice" does not equate to "pro abortion". Wanting abortion to be safe, rare, and legal is pro choice, not pro life. "Pro Life" is largely against letting women have that option (except in extreme circumstances, if you're lucky). There are loads of people out there who are solidly pro choice but would never think of having an abortion themselves. Loads of pro choice people who love kids and have several of their own. Loads of pro choice people who've never had an abortion. Loads of pro choice people who have had an abortion for a very wide variety of reasons. You really can't be both pro life and pro choice. Sad that the term Pro Choice has been so effectively demonized by the far right that people are afraid to even associate with it. It's a great tactic when trying to suppress the opposing side on an issue like this. If the Pro Life crowd can't get you to join them, they'd much rather you sit out on the sidelines. Otherwise you might go over and help those evil Pro Choice baby killers. We need comprehensive sex ed in all public schools. No more of this abstinence only BS. No more of this misinformation and conveniently leaving out certain pieces of info. We need easier access to pregnancy prevention. We need access to safe, legal abortions and the decision should only be between a woman and her doctor. You are absolutely right about how we need to start holding men accountable. It takes two to create that pregnancy. 100% of pregnancies are caused by the male orgasm. A woman just got sent to prison in Oklahoma for doing drugs while pregnant. Ok. Now where's the dude who knocked her up? Sounds like he was also acting irresponsibly. He played an equal part in making that happen. Maybe he should have thought twice before having unprotected sex with someone who's addicted to drugs.

@@freedomishavingachoice3020 my husband works 50 hours a week. We live on a budget. Not privilege, just a lot of hard work, living within our family budget and prayer.
What needs to change as well is a woman’s right for sterilization. It took 12 pregnancies: 2 live births, 2 abortions for medical necessity, 1 abortion for rape, 6 first trimester losses and one stillbirth as well as two years of seeing 10 doctors to even get approved to get my tubes removed. I had my surgery 1 month before turning 30 with my last miscarriage taking place in May of 2020. Give us rights to our own bodies, let PP hand out free or low cost contraception and education and let women have the right to be sterilized in addition to having programs in place for mothers and families without so much red tape and we will see reduced abortion rates.
As a staunch pro-lifer, that’s fair. You have clearly gone through a lot, even though it makes me sick how many abortions you have had. Choice to sterilize yourself is much more acceptable than actively producing human life and then terminating it over and over.
If there’s a will, there’s a way. Even though abortion is now illegal in certain states, people will do it. It’s beyond ridiculous that we even have to debate it. If you don’t like it, don’t do it yourself. I would rather have safe access than women risking themselves.
So we can then legalize murder under the philosophy of don’t like it, don’t do it. Murder is illegal because it deprives the victim the right to life. Abortion does the same thing.
I respect her for staying out of it. I myself am pro choice. My view is that it should be every woman's right to choose whether or not to have an abortion and it should be up until the fetus is considered viable (meaning it has reached a stage of development where it is capable of living, under normal conditions, outside the uterus). With laws like the one in texas (with the heartbeat act also known as the six week abortion ban) it could potentially make it really tough for women in Texas who have things like PCOS (and thus have irregular cycles and wouldn't be aware if they missed a period, aka one of the earliest signs of pregnancy) to have access to abortion because they might find out they're pregnant after it's too late for them to get an abortion. Basically banning or placing extremely restrictive time limits on abortion really fucks over many women.
@@zetavalentine 100% disagree, I feel like most of what you said is extremely misleading. I completely respect your position though, as long as you don't try to push it on someone else.
@@zetavalentine Well, first of all, you said "a woman should only get an abortion when she physically can't handle carrying a baby, including rape cases". That is simply not true. Most women could theoretically still carry to term, the fact that she was raped doesn't represent a threat to her health. Sure, she would be shocked and horrified, but from a medical perspective she could still give birth. Therefore, I'm not sure why you're justifying abortions when the woman is raped. I feel like it's because you think it wasn't her fault, therefore it's her choice whether she wants to carry to term. That means you have some old-fashioned view of sex, and believe women should not engage in casual sex. That is fine, I don't have any issue with that, but you can't justify some abortions and say others are wrong. The reason people fight to keep abortion legal is because it is a human right, it's their body that is keeping the fetus live. Now, I personally don't believe in objective morality. I don't think there is always a right and wrong, and practicality is always preferable to morality (this one is always subjective). I'm ok with people disliking abortions, no matter the reason, but I do have a problem when you try to make what you think is "wrong" illegal for everyone else. I'm an atheist and anti-christian activist, but I never even thought about getting rid of religious freedom, or burning all churches.
@@zetavalentine Hmm well, those cases tend to be extremely singular so it's hard to talk about all of them at once. The ones you mentioned (where both the mother and the baby might die) are uncommon, so I assume you're talking about ectopic pregnancies. But more often than not, only the mother's health is compromised, meaning she'll probably survive but with serious medical conditions. Even then, you technically couldn't justify an abortion, cause both the mother and the baby will survive. What I'm trying to say is that abortion bans are completely impractical, and the countries where abortion is banned often have more dangerous abortions (and overall) than those where it's legal. It may be weird to hear but abortions actually decrease in countries where it's legal.
@@zetavalentine By anti-christianity I mean opposition to Christianity and its practices in general, such as school prayers, anti-abortion movements, anti-gay marriage and such. All we do is try to make sure Christianity and all religions in general don't interfere with anyone's life, cause most of the social issues I mentioned can be traced back to religion. I personally oppose any religions, but Christianity is the main one in my country hence the name.

It's absolutely horrible that so many babies result from rape. I have to believe that a handful (not more though) of women would be more open to keeping even babies resulting from rape, if the rest of our society made it more realistic to be able to do so.
I’m glad Shelley is here and that she’s living the best life she can. Her parents did an awesome job and it makes me sad that she couldn’t have a good relationship with Norma. I could also understand her position regardless of whether she’s pro-life or pro-choice.
My son is well aware of the ignorance of men that go around spreading their seed without concern and is choosing to have a vasectomy until he is ready to have children. He is willing to deal with the potentials of that decision when the time comes. Until men share this responsibility , nothing will change.
That is a whole lotta nonsense when he could just throw on a condom. But hey lets be super dramatic and ridiculous. Its the 2020s and we dont do anything sensible we have to make everything a huge deal.
It’s not okay to abort a child, at least in certain states and in most circumstances. Just like it’s not okay to kill someone in most states in most circumstances. Things are illegal for a good reason and it’s often because those things are not conductive for a functioning and civil society.
As a man I am neither for or against abortions. My only wish is that all those that are Pro Life would adopt at least 1 child in foster care. Our foster care system is over run with kids needing homes and it always odd to me we have millions of Pro Life advocates who don’t adopt.
@@Shelby-oo7uz Thank you. I can accept that, but I’m just curious why so many pro life don’t. I don’t see any of the conservative judges, Ted Cruz, Majorie Taylor Greene, Trump, the Governors of Texas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Graham, McConnell, Matt Gatez, and the millions of American citizens who are pro life etc. I appreciate those you mention, but there are millions of pro lifers and yet we still have a foster care system overrun with needy children. Just odd to me. If we are going to tell a woman she MUST have this child then they should be lined up to adopt the child. Everyone wins. The mother doesn’t abort, the baby gets to live life, and the Pro Lifer cements their belief. Otherwise this sounds like welfare (which most conservatives are against). You make the woman have the child and you make the rest of us (with our tax dollars) raise/pay for the child.
Know that even as a man you can choose to be for or against abortion, don’t let feminists bully you. You have a say in young women and men getting killed, as a man, you should be standing up and fighting for what’s right. Fighting for defenseless sons and daughters. There are literally lines of people waiting to adopt Babies. But I agree, more people (pro life or not) should foster and adopt older children! My sister is about to start the adoption process and after my divorce is final I’ll be hopefully fostering and/or adopting. Just trying to figure out how to afford it with CA housing costs but those with extra rooms in their homes should be taking these children in 💜
I am adopted, with a pro-life stance, coming from a pro-choice family (most of them). In my opinion there are a lot of factors to take into account. For example, here in Spain where I live, foster families cannot adopt the foster children. Some people cannot even think about returning the kids to their families after raising them. Also, in other cases, adoption centers have made it more about the income than about the emotional stability of the adoptant (is that a word?). If I want to adopt in my motherland, I have to move there for about 4 years when I already have a life here. And in Spain the waiting list is about 8 years. Some people have the endurance, some do not. Governments should also spend money helping families in every sense as to avoid having so many children without their biological families. I do not know any of the people that you mentionned, and I don't know why they do not adopt or foster, but know that a lot of pro-life do want to help and sometimes that help can come in other ways than just adopting.

With birth control, no one should be aborting! Today, birth control is so accessible! I am never one one side entirely. There is so much gray in every situation but I experienced my best friend having 3 abortions in high school, and it solidified my stance. Pro life for life! I am also against trump and what he did with the children at the border and I most definitely marched for BLM when the peaceful protests took place last year. Life is life. And a mother’s life is not more important than a fetus’s life. Never. If anything, the fetus is the vulnerable and needing of protection! So don’t assume anything about me. This is not even half of what I stand for. What I think is ridiculous is people protesting for BLM or for equality and then getting abortion or being pro choice. How does that make sense?
@@sweetest-of-memes the Bible also says to speak up against evil and advocate for the destitute and needy. Any kind of destitute and need. Like I said nothing is black and white, and I do believe in certain circumstances abortion is needed. But just for selfishness, nope. Never. I’m not interested in changing people’s minds about this. But I’m going to continue to contribute to what is right. If only people knew how many women suffer in having abortions. Maybe not all but many do, unnecessarily! Also a pro tip, don’t tell a Christian how to be a Christian. If you only know that the Bible talks about compassion, then you don’t have the whole story. It also talks about advocacy and so many more things. Again, my interest is not in the woman wanting to kill a vulnerable life, but my compassion goes out to that fetus, that baby that has its own rights too!
All this proves is that ppl that are not ready to have kids should not have them. So preventative education is important (I'm not talking about extreme cases). How dare they do such hate crimes saying "God told them to". That's blasphemy and shameful!!!! This is a touchy subject, but as the Bible says, "let's REASON together."
Thank you for saying this. I think it's important to know what true Christians are and not just people who blame their bad actions on God.

Exactly.
Well said
For lots of BM it’s a big sacrifice to give up their baby for adoption.
Personal responsibility. Try it sometime.
Nope, they will never go for that. Too many people value power over actually supporting happy healthy human lives. It’s very sad.

I can understand why people want to hear her perspective, but she is amazing for taking the stance that her position is too personal to discuss.
I always hear pro-life people stop dead before they talk or even consider the life of a child after they were born, and had to be someone’s responsibility. It’s always “well, she should’ve kept her legs closed” when time comes to feed, clothe and nurture- but there’s no money or no love, even. I don’t like abortions nor the idea of them, but I’d never have so little compassion to force a woman, against her will, to give birth and then abandon her and her child to their own devices. In the end it comes down to facts and statistics: who/what has helped women and children more? Not conservatives, and not pro-life policies, that’s for sure.
@@sadepennbrook There's some false premises and data there. Right wing affiliate groups are more likely to adopt and more likely to donate to crisis centers (which you can find through Live Action). Better maternity leave? Support foster care and adoption programs? THIS IS PRO-LIFE! Supporting the lives already here for better quality of life! *If a woman wants an abortion bad enough, SHE WILL DO IT, DAMN THE CONSEQUENCES.*
Then where would the rich get their cannon fodder for their wars, prisons and 💩-wage jobs?
There's different types of sex education, like "abstinence plus" sex education. There's plenty of pro-life couples who adopt and do foster care. There's lots of pro-life organizations that help mothers, like Let Them Live. And abstinence and self control are always free, and contraceptives are already available.
@@karaokeandrandomclips Two scientific review papers find abstinence-only-until-marriage programs and policies in the United States are ineffective because they do not delay sexual initiation or reduce sexual risk behaviors. Both papers are published online in the Journal of Adolescent Health.
@@persephonestardust2498 I said "Abstinence plus", not "Abstinence only". @@mrsTraveller64 I didn't say that the other person doesn't feel the unforgiveness at all. I said it's a weight that's "mainly" carried by the person harboring unforgiveness. Unforgiveness is a weight on the person who does it, both from the perspective of carrying it but ALSO from the perspective of the hypocrisy of wanting and needing others forgiveness and grace because no one is perfect. A person who does wrong, but forgives and remains unforgiven by someone who does wrong and doesn't forgive will have less weight than the person who both doesn't forgive but still desires forgiveness from others when they fall short.

I can remember when top journalist Tim Russert dropped dead of a heart attack. For years I'd watched his hard-hitting, take-no-prisoners interviews on Meet the Press. It was only when he died that I learned he was a lifelong Democrat. Watching him work, I'd had no clue. He asked the questions the public wanted to know, & when the subjects were lying or evading, he nailed them every time, didn't matter whether Dem or Repub. We need more like that.

The mother surely had access to contraception but didn't use it. Shelley is not the one to blame.
Her parents, Roe was only the genitor. Parents are those who love you.

But until then, I have a strict “no having kids” policy lol
Congrats on breaking the cycle, I hope to be as strong as you one day.

You are right !
I am grateful she came forward. I don't think most people even know she was born. I think that people just stop at the verdict.

@@colecole3352 if men weren't on a large scale horrible fathers and partners in general, I feel the need for abortion would be a lot lower.

That is a whole lotta nonsense when he could just throw on a condom. But hey lets be super dramatic and ridiculous. Its the 2020s and we dont do anything sensible we have to make everything a huge deal.
it's ok to abort a child, it's okay to give a child up for adoption, and it's also totally ok to not want to meet your biological parent.
Well said, thank you for this information.
Most people that adopt or foster are pro life. Statistically white Christian’s adopt or foster the most out of any other demographics.
She was kind of terrible, but she also knew she wasn't fit to be a mother.
So why did she keep getting pregnant??
@@sweetest-of-memes we have control over our bodies , no? Oh wait, only when it’s convenient to you all pro baby murders.
If it’s not rape, she can totally take precautions to not get pregnant. Her body her choice right? Isn’t it ironic!

@@sweetest-of-memes you don’t know me. I happen to be a non feminist, pro life democrat that has fostered many children, children with extremely sad stories and rough beginnings but thanks to God they become resilient thanks to responsible adults by their side. I absolutely encourage birth control 💯 because there are stupid people out there who are not ready to have children and play with the idea of abortion or actually go through with it, which is appalling!!!!
I will advocate for the morally correct thing always but also the humane thing too.
I will call it out and I have no interest in being compassionate to women who kill their babies. I just don’t.
Norma gave up 2 kids and used the 3rd as a pawn when it suited her. None of this has to do with Shelley but who knows what Norma actually had to deal with in her time.

The legal finding on Roe v. Wade was not about anything but the question of who has a right to decide to have an abortion. The US Supreme Court found that only the woman involved has the right to decide. It isn't about whether abortion is right or wrong, it's about who has the right to decide.
Sad you have to even explain something so basic.
All just laws determine the difference between right and wrong. No law is neutral.

This woman is incredible. I love how she’s grounded and emotionally intelligent about the whole situation.
Been reading many of these comments and even posted my own a day or so ago. I have to say to all of us, including me, that our words of wisdom and our heartfelt opinions just don't count that much. What matters is getting involved in somehow doing some actual good for someone, or more than one person, who lives on this earth with us. Sometimes someone we meet in a store or somewhere else just really, really needs a kind smile that day. Haven't we all been there?
I’m glad she didn’t give her perspective/opinion on the matter because she obviously has alot of rage left over from her mom being a narcissistic
I have an adopted son and he never wanted to see his parents after they gave him and his siblings away. No tears at their deaths. He has forgiven them but that does not mean he is forced to like them. This lady is right, do not yourself be used. Your parents did a great job raising you. ❤️🙏🇨🇦
All the adopted kids I've known wanted a sense of peace regarding their birth parents, but they know their adoptive parents feel rejected by their interest in blood relatives. I feel sorry for the ones whose adoptive parents treat it like a victory over the biological parents if the adult child never finds bonds with any kin, many of whom had no say in not being part of the child's lives from cousins on.
