I always hear the same talking point at the Women's March: "I don't want old white men telling me what to do with my body" - but "old white men" are the reason why abortion is legal, and you don't hear them complaining about that?

They also werent complaining when hundreds of thousands of white men went to die for them to establish their freedoms. Or when old white men founded hospitals and created medicines. Or when old white men invented birth control and tampons. Or when old white men put clean water in every home in America and invented ways to reduce home stresses on women, essentially liberating them.

@ariel7059 thats honestly a good philosophical point. But the whole issue has been a sidestep from the beginning because the body in question isn't the woman's body it is the body of the innocent child she helped create. If I stab someone to death and you say, "hey you can't do that" it would make no sense for me to say "don't tell me what to do with my arms."
But nonetheless women are hugely split on abortion so just having a woman wouldn't help your cause. I would elect the Lila Rose to represent me before I would ever elect Joe Biden. And I look 1000 times more like Biden.

I just finished a US Government class with Indiana University. It was beat into our heads over and over again that if Roe v. Wade were overturned, Americans would lose all rights to privacy. I know that's a scare tactic, but is this legally true? Is there non-abortion related privacy legislation that would survive without Roe? Any time I asked about it in class I was shot down and told that abortion is morally right and there is no reason to want to separate privacy from abortion. I learned a lot of great things in that class, but the amount of pro-choice mental gymnastics was wild. I remember I wrote an essay about abortion and the Hyde Amendment and when I got my paper back the instructor had marked it up with tons of sarcastic comments next to my arguments for life. :(

I very much doubt that anyone will lose any privacy over the repeal of Roe vs Wade.
For one, there was no huge "privacy crisis" prior to Roe vs Wade, nor was privacy magically expanded after Roe vs Wade.
I think they simply shoehorned abortion into the privacy space where it never belonged. Which also supports the fact that privacy was the same before and after Roe vs Wade.
The Left is characterized by a deep paranoia & catastrophizing mindset, and that's likely why you heard so much hyperbole.

    • @frandsenphilip1
      @frandsenphilip1 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

No, it's not legally true that Roe v. Wade being overturned (which is was) we'd lose all rights to privacy. The Bill of Rights sets forth a list of inalienable rights, and it's generally been legally decided that some right to privacy is guaranteed. Example, a company cannot put cameras in their bathrooms because it's assumed that when you are using a bathroom you want to be able to know you are not being watched. There are probably a bunch of other examples. You can tell your classmates they might want to learn some basics about law, one being that there is legislative law, executive law, and case law. Furthermore, they might want to actually read the Declaration of Independence.

The main argument for abortion is: It's the “Woman's Body” and her right to choose. Let that same woman go to her local courthouse, while court is in session, go before the Judge and start cutting her arm with a knife and see how long it takes before she is placed into protective custody. The “Woman’s Body” doctrine is a fallacy and has never been a good argument for anyone with half a brain cell, who is not profiting in some ways from abortions, and has a smidgen of honesty.
If a pregnant woman, who wants to give birth to her off-spring, is attacked and the off-spring is murdered and the woman survives the attack, the perpetrator is charged with murder of the off-spring. Under these circumstances society regards this murder of the off-spring the most egregious crime. But let the perpetrators form a business with a large following where they provide a living income for many, including the scum bag attorneys and judges and they develop political influence, then they are legally permitted to commit this same murder on a massive scale. For financial and political profit and for the convenience of a woman who does not want to give birth, a portion of our society has lost it’s sense of morality and has simply changed the verbage from “murder” to “abortion” and made an otherwise egregious murder into a legally rendered service.
Our most precious resource is our off-spring. While it is still in the womb, it is the most innocent of the innocent, it is completely vulnerable and is in greatest need of our protection. The US Supreme Court in passing Roe V. Wade and we as a society for allowing that to happen, have failed it as a species. And for what?? The financial and political profit of a few and the convenience of it’s host.

Lila Rose, Thank you so much for taking the time and resources to make this video. Back in 1989, I learned about Norma McCorvey's story through a Focus on the Family magazine so I wrote an editorial which was published in the newspaper in Lynchburg, VA. Based on these facts, the pro life movement needs to appeal to the Supreme Court to overturn this decision. 1.) Norma and her attorneys committed perjury, so it should constitute a mistrial. 2.) Modern scientific technology, such as 4-D ultrasounds prove that there is a completely formed baby, unlike the lies that are told to clients that it us "just a blob of tissue or a clump of cells. " 3.) Post Abortive Syndrome is very real and many women and men suffer from guilt and depression following their abortions which they regret. 4.) The Constitution clearly states that "All men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with the RIGHT TO LIFE, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." "All men" equals women, children, and babies, both born and preborn.

In the event that the pregnancy has to end because of a medical emergency which poses a mortal threat on the mother’s life, there is ALWAYS the option to delivery the baby either by c-section or induction and make every effort to save BOTH the mother and baby. Sometimes that means that the baby does not survive but that doesn’t mean we don’t try.

@@1mforrestSo you think that the foetus should get more rights than everyone else, and pregnant women and girls should get fewer rights?
No other category of person has the right to live in or off the body of another without that other person's consent, but you think the foetus should get that right?
And everyone else gets to refuse to let another person use their body for survival, but pregnant women and girls should not?
Could you really have forced your mother through pregnancy against her will? I know I couldn't.
You've completely ignored cases where the pregnancy threatens the woman's life. No parent is forced to give their life for their child after they're born, so no pregnant woman or girl should have that duty either.
In countries where abortion is illegal, doctors tend to put the foetus first, and this is totally unjust and unethical. Ireland was like this, until abortion was legalised a few years ago.
And you've also ignored cases of fatal foetal abnormalities. I know a woman who carried 2 babies to term, knowing they wouldn't survive, because abortion was her country. That was decades ago, and she's still traumatised by the hell of such pregnancies.

The thing that sucks about this whole thing is that Roe v. Wade (Norma refers to it as the "law that bears [her] name" in the quote at the end) is literally not a law and it's complete legal fiction. The Supreme Court CANNOT CREATE LAWS. So this "law" is illegal just on that basis alone (let alone the fact that it legalizes murder based on arbitrary factors.)
So, perhaps we ought to focus on creating state laws that completely illegalize abortion rather than voting for presidential candidates that we HOPE will place conservative justices on the court just so we can keep hoping that they'll one day, eventually, juuuust maybe overturn a "law" that's illegal in the first place.
It's never going to happen. And even if it does, abortion will still be legal in many states anyway. So that's not a feasible or sensible goal here, at all.
If we want to stop abortion we need to create state laws that stop it and then defend those laws in court when they're challenged. That's our only hope in stopping this.

One of the serious issues regarding Roe vs. Wade was that one of the key Justices, Left-Wing Harry Blackmun, had a serious conflict of interest.
The man had a daughter who had gotten pregnant while in Law School, and she would have to end/postpone her Law education degree to have the child, unless she could legally get an abortion. She chose to marry the father and have the kid rather than get an illegal abortion, and Blackmun relied on her opinion to form his, which was used as the reasoning for the case.

6:24 - Why didn't she include the legal definition of penumbra? I am pro-life, but it's fishy she only used scientific definitions for the word.
    From the Wex Legal Dictionary:
    penumbra
In a legal context, penumbra refers to the implied rights derived from the explicitly stated guarantees in the U.S. Constitution. The term was first used by Oliver Wendell Holmes. In his 1873 law review article “The Theory of Torts,” Holmes argued that new law should grow “in the penumbra between darkness and light, than to remain in uncertainty.”
For example, the First Amendment implies freedom of association. The Fourth Amendment implies protection against invasion of privacy. Because of Griswold, the concept of penumbras has been most associated with the right to privacy. Besides contraception, the right to privacy was extended to abortion in Roe v. Wade (1973). However, it was later modified in Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992) before it was finally overturned in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (2022). The right to privacy also legalized interracial marriage in cases like Loving v. Virginia (1967) and same-sex marriage in Obergefell v. Hodges (2015).

Very sobering and saddening that so many women are being manipulated and they don't even realize it. In fact, they welcome it. Our society as a whole is becoming so toxic despite people striving to cut toxicity out of their lives. People are becoming the very toxic people that they do desperately want nothing to do with. I pray every day for our country to turn around and brighten up with joy, positivity, and most importantly, life once again. 🙏🏻

Absolutely phenomenal work. In less than 10 minutes you have laid bare the facts. How could anyone with a brain and a soul possibly continue to chant "Roe v Wade" at the slightest suggestion of the unborn baby's right to life? This simply must stop. 60 million lives is an unimaginable evil. The problem is that there's no personal accountability - someone else is always to blame and someone else has just the fix for a price. And then Roe & Doe spent the rest of their lives fighting to end abortion - first time ever heard that!

I am currently engaged in a debate regarding the personhood of unborn human beings. I thought the latest bad argument for abortion is that an unborn baby lacks cognition therefore it is not a person. Until watching this I was unaware that this was actually the self proclaimed issue from the beginning that would collapse abortion laws in favor of unborn humans, and I see why this is something that is so vehemently defended on the pro abortion side. If “personhood” can be established then the entire house of cards falls and unborn humans are then entitled to 14th amendment rights and equal protection under the law. To say cognition makes you a person is ridiculous as you could come up with any number of real life scenarios where a person lacks cognition yet is still a person. It also seems to me that the language complicates the issue as trying to establish what “personhood” actually is is subject to all sorts of subjective often arbitrary opinions which can be swayed by politics and emotion. This is why the clearest and most objective way to determine personhood would be to equate personhood with being a living human being, in doing so we can all appeal to scientific facts which cannot belie the issue. Facts are facts . In short life begins at conception not at cognition.

Very disappointed in the biased way these facts were presented. Abortion being marked as "killing a baby" is such a dangerous and heartbreaking sentiment. Abortion is NOT an easy decision for any woman who falls pregnant but a decision that she feels is right for HER SITUATION. Going through with a full-term pregnancy is not an easy decision to make, and should not be treated as much since not every woman may be ready to do so at that point in her life. Branding abortion as "killing a baby" to make a woman feel guilty of taking away a supposed life is not the way to approach these difficult decisions or even to reduce the amount of abortions that are had. SEX EDUCATION AND THE PROLIFERATION OF ACCESSIBILITY TO CONTRACEPTION need to be addressed more in these conversations instead of guilt.
Also, the mere birth of a child is not the end of saving a life. Providing and caring for that child also comes with it, and nobody who is not in a woman's situation should be making the decision for her to raise a child. Adoption is an option, correct? Then why do we have such a broken system in America? We need to start caring for the lives of children who are ALIVE and being abused in the foster care system instead of caring so much about the decisions that women are making for their situation in the case that they fall pregnant.

    • @DanR411
      @DanR411 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

"Abortion being marked as 'killing a baby' is such a dangerous and heartbreaking sentiment." Science is very clear that at the moment of conception there exists a new, unique HUMAN LIFE, with its own DNA.
What do you think actually happens during an abortion? Please give us all a step-by-step description of what exactly goes on at your neighborhood abortion provider when "taking away a supposed life."
Let's dispense with the vague words and deal with reality. Start with a second trimester dilation and evacuation abortion, aka D&E, and explain what actually goes on.

@@fakiu4554 Wrong. Every human is a person.
      As Josh Craddock put it:
"From the earliest precedents in English common law, abortion was treated as the wrongful killing of a human being, and was prohibited as soon as life in the womb could be detected. In those days, life was detected at 'quickening,' and this proved a useful evidentiary tool for determining whether the crime of abortion had occurred. These common law principles, developed by legal giants such as Lord Coke and Blackstone, were inherited by the American colonies and passed into our state common law systems at the Founding. By the 1830s, medical science had discovered that life begins at fertilization. This allowed the states to discard the obsolete quickening standard in favor of the new, medically accurate fertilization standard.
"By the time the Fourteenth Amendment was adopted, the states widely recognized unborn children as persons. Twenty-three states and six territories referred to the fetus as a 'child' in their anti-abortion statutes. Twenty-eight labeled abortion as an '[offense] against the person' or a functionally equivalent classification. In Ohio, the very same legislature that ratified the Fourteenth Amendment explicitly recognized abortion 'at any stage of existence' as 'child-murder.'
"Given that historical context, it’s clear that the public meaning of the term 'person' in 1868 included prenatal life."
