@@drewapicture9892 I'm kind of mixed. Because while I like the 2011 anime I do feel like the light colors are too bright. And in some cases the 1999 anime does better with it's mixtures of colors and line art. In regards to Hisoka getting aroused I'm a bit in the middle too. The voice acting for 2011 is better. But there's this cool visual where Gon punches Hisoka in the 1999 version and the actual sweat droplets are sent into the air. So both scenes have pretty cool visual moments. I just wish there was a way to combine them both to get the best of both worlds.

the coloring is very immature style. the 99 version coloring makes it look serious, the hyper saturation of color in 2011 makes it look like the amazing world of gumball.
The contrast making it so that our only focus is on Gon and Hisoka is perfect in the 2011 version. It's about them. It's their fight. Plus the action and pacing is a lot better and doesn't feel stretched out, which helps convey the 'show don't tell' formula. The 99 version tries to do the same, but I don't think it works due to the more consistent tone of darkness that they were going for. That small flashback to when Hisoka punched Gon was a bit unnecessary since that event was fairly recent. don't get me wrong though the 99 version is fine overall
Realmente la versión del 99 está SUPER bien animada para su época, se ve mejor que muchos animes actuales, además que iba a saliendo junto al manga y eso suele producir que baje la calidad de animación pero en este caso no pasó. Para que las cosas salgan bien hay que exigir a todos nos exigen en nuestros trabajos, la versión de HXH posee una de las mejores animaciones de las historias Gracias al excelente trabajo de ellos, que supieron estar a la altura de las exigencias. Y eso hay que agradecer
i seem to be leaning more for the 99 version. it has a more darker tone than the 2011 ver and those camera angles during the fight scene are on point. also, as someone who has been watching anime since the late 80's i like the drab colors. of course the newer is more vibrant and certainly looks better animation wise, but seeing the 99 version takes me back to my days as a child watching g-force (gatchaman), voltron, speed racer and saturday night anime movies on the sci-fi channel lol. it's amazing how anime has been around for so long here in the west, so it's kinda funny seeing how it really has popped off into such a phenomenon.
Too much side character talking and interrupting the flow in the 1999 one. I like that the 2011 one is more subtle in terms of dialog (well, except for the orgasm lmao). Also love the music much more and ESPECIALLY the sound effects.
that's what I used to remember, but actually it doesn't. It manages to keep a good rythm, and the slow parts are more grouped together, leaving then for more explosive sequences. Could say 2011 is faster, but 99 works imho. As a whole series, it's surely slower, but I think it does slow in a smart way, without actually ever being boring. Altough I appreciate the idea of madhouse of resurrecting the good old narrator gimmick. About the sound effects, yep, they are weird in 99, and it's strange, back in the days there were anime with great sound design too... Meh, that happened. About the music, no sorry, that fanfare in the number plate scene wins :P
Wow....the fights are fine for both. I like the direction the 1999 version took, like the part with the sweat was pretty cool. I know some may feel the flow was broken by having the flashback (which was used because of the gap between eps...maybe about 20 or so eps prior) and the cutting away to the other characters viewing the match, but this will always be an issue with these types of situations. Anyway, I'm giving this to the 1999 version...only because the 2011 version outcreeped the 1999 version with turned on Hisoka. I liked the subtly with it in 1999, 2011 was just a bit *too* on the nose with his arousal. >

Dayum the old animation was so good. Wish the new version was closer to it but Hisoka's orgasmic moments and the new fresh full of color style make up for it.
1999 version was better for sure but that orgasmic scene is character assassination. 1999 version gives a depth to the true character of Hisoka that what he seeks most is finding people talented enough that could give him a challenge in a fight and get the ultimate joy of winning over them. While the 2011 version just describes him as a sick perverted pedo.
soufiane yassir I don’t agree, I think 2011 Hisoka is portrayed better and almost more interesting, the way he has sexual pleasure by fighting strong opponents is shown very well, and people understand that he’s not a pedo if they really understand the situation. He is really unique, dramatic, flashy, wants attention, eccentric, charismatic and that is portrayed very well in his voice, character design and theme.
I love both!!!! I don't get the argument of people which one is better. 1999 was animated really good for its time. The fight scene is excellent and actually has fluid sequence, considering the manual animation during that time. 2011 is really good and enhance the experience for us viewers and I love the bright color palette!! ☺️

I think I’ll always like the old style. It’s more grounded in reality and in the new one colors are overly saturated. It looks unrealistic like the lighting is making no difference. But I’m watching the 99 version until it runs out in around episode 60 ish something then I’ll pick up where the 2011 one picks off. I’m sure I’ll appreciate the style change.

Estoy de acuerdo, es lo que menos me gustó de esa versión. Aún asi ambas versiones tienen sus cosas buenas , la del 99 intenta resaltar más la tensión de la batalla , mientras que la del 2011 ser más dinámica y frenética
cómo que no lo resalta? si hasta la batalla se detiene completamente, cambia el soundtrack y se hace una panorámica importantísima, además de que en el golpe el fondo deja de existir y se vuelve blanco. No hay nada que no me quede de la versión del 99 pre-greed island.
1999 version was mature with it's dark colors and soundtracks. Voice acting choice was better too. In comparison, 2011 with its flashy colors and banal soundtracks is nothing but a graphic cheap imitation void from any impact. The only redeeming thing about 2011 version is the chimera ant arc.

The only thing they nailed is the Chimera ant Arc, the soundtracks used and how they toned down the unnecessary flashy colors went a long way into nailing that arc. When I rewatch HxH I always do the 1999 version up to the chimera arc without hesitation. The soundtracks used in 1999 puts it light-years away from the 2011 version.

Yo creo que la del 99 esta mucho mejor, se que la del 2011 tiene colores y más bonitos mejor "animación" (la pongo entre comillas por que la del 99 tiene buenísima animación también) y mejor sonido. Pero la del 99 la veo más serio con la música y la ambientación y también por los diseños de personajes, en la del 2011 se ven muy caricaturescos, mientras que en la del 99 se ven más reales y más serios digamosle. Eso si el golpe de gon estuvo mucho mejor en la del 2011, pero por lo demás me quedo con la del 99
Un poco tarde pero completamente de acuerdo. La calidad de esta pelea (y todo el arco de la torre y el de Yorkshin tbh) en la del 99 es ridículamente superior al 98% de las series que se estrenan hoy en día y no le envidia nada a la del 2011. Y todos se quedan con la escena del golpe, pero para mí la de la devolución de la tarjeta es ampliamente más épica y memorable en la del 99.

Honestamente, la versión de 2011 es impecable, banda sonora, animación, incluso para esta pelea hay una ambientación que es única para el episodio, se siente la tensión y la ansiedad, la versión del 99 tiene sus pros, pero luego de 12 años la tecnología y la técnica para animar hicieron que el remake sea mucho mejor, sin mencionar que tiene el arco de las hormigas quimera.
Not to disrespect the artist and all.the talented people who worked onnthe 99 sequencer but i feel that 2011's versión Is the creme de la creme when It comes to hand to hand combats, the pacing Is fantastic, the inversions aré creative the Energy is unbelievable and the action never over started it's welcome, not toention that the had the advantange of restrospective and to see what could be improved from the original. it's a fucking masterpiece.

The sound design for 1999 really dates it. Also the character design tweaks make the 2011 one better. The only thing the 99 one did better was Gon flipping the tile.

I gotta say their is something more real and believable about keeping things tame. The 2011 version starts off being so flashy and bombastic it's like a crazy graphics test. Then you look at the 99 version and something about it feels real despite not being as flashy and trying to visually spaz you out all the time. The 2011 version isnt bad but I would say the older version is better in terms of selling you on the believability of the world and the story that's set inside of it. It isnt trying to impress you with the graphics but rather set the tone and the stage for these characters to Duke it out and it convey how pivotal this encounter is to the narrative. It's really that simple to get people invested in a story, no thousands of dollars of special effects needed. Not that having good visuals is bad but I'm saying it's not exactly necessary.

Los 80's y 90's fueron la bonanza de la animación japonesa y eso se ve reflejado en el presupuesto que dedicaban a sus producciones. No estoy diciendo que una sea mejor que la otra, solo que el año no tiene nada que en este caso.
there are a lot of things that i didn't like from Madhouse's version. i really disliked the color, for me it's too bright. the animation tho is very good. and for some reason i prefer the 1999 designs.
破壊神剃刀 Having watch all episodes of both versions, 2011 is easily a trash compared to the level of greatness that 1999 delivered, the camera angles, the added elements for suspense, the way things are unfolded without the use of unnecessary narrator, the perfect colors for each scenes, even their skin tone was altered depending on whether its night or day, the reflections on their sweat, the reflections of moonlight in their blades(kurapika and leorio vs hisoka) the way sunset sunlight is reflected off the glasses of leorio, the way they perfectly fit the audio suited for each scene, the way they artistically presented nen and nen colors on contrary with 2011 smokey steam coming off as nen, not to mention the nen sound in 1999, the way 1999 maintained background images during fights unlike in 2011 they just speedblur the background(example is zoldycks vs kuroro) I could keep the list going, but 2011 is an eyesore, it even hurts my ear when the narrator speaks as if we do not understand what were watching, lousy 2011

Wow....the fights are fine for both. I like the direction the 1999 version took, like the part with the sweat was pretty cool. I know some may feel the flow was broken by having the flashback (which was used because of the gap between eps...maybe about 20 or so eps prior) and the cutting away to the other characters viewing the match, but this will always be an issue with these types of situations. Anyway, I'm giving this to the 1999 version...only because the 2011 version outcreeped the 1999 version with turned on Hisoka. I liked the subtly with it in 1999, 2011 was just a bit *too* on the nose with his arousal. >

Dayum the old animation was so good. Wish the new version was closer to it but Hisoka's orgasmic moments and the new fresh full of color style make up for it.
1999 version was better for sure but that orgasmic scene is character assassination. 1999 version gives a depth to the true character of Hisoka that what he seeks most is finding people talented enough that could give him a challenge in a fight and get the ultimate joy of winning over them. While the 2011 version just describes him as a sick perverted pedo.
soufiane yassir I don’t agree, I think 2011 Hisoka is portrayed better and almost more interesting, the way he has sexual pleasure by fighting strong opponents is shown very well, and people understand that he’s not a pedo if they really understand the situation. He is really unique, dramatic, flashy, wants attention, eccentric, charismatic and that is portrayed very well in his voice, character design and theme.

I think I’ll always like the old style. It’s more grounded in reality and in the new one colors are overly saturated. It looks unrealistic like the lighting is making no difference. But I’m watching the 99 version until it runs out in around episode 60 ish something then I’ll pick up where the 2011 one picks off. I’m sure I’ll appreciate the style change.

1999 version was mature with it's dark colors and soundtracks. Voice acting choice was better too. In comparison, 2011 with its flashy colors and banal soundtracks is nothing but a graphic cheap imitation void from any impact. The only redeeming thing about 2011 version is the chimera ant arc.

The only thing they nailed is the Chimera ant Arc, the soundtracks used and how they toned down the unnecessary flashy colors went a long way into nailing that arc. When I rewatch HxH I always do the 1999 version up to the chimera arc without hesitation. The soundtracks used in 1999 puts it light-years away from the 2011 version.

Yo creo que la del 99 esta mucho mejor, se que la del 2011 tiene colores y más bonitos mejor "animación" (la pongo entre comillas por que la del 99 tiene buenísima animación también) y mejor sonido. Pero la del 99 la veo más serio con la música y la ambientación y también por los diseños de personajes, en la del 2011 se ven muy caricaturescos, mientras que en la del 99 se ven más reales y más serios digamosle.
Eso si el golpe de gon estuvo mucho mejor en la del 2011, pero por lo demás me quedo con la del 99
Un poco tarde pero completamente de acuerdo. La calidad de esta pelea (y todo el arco de la torre y el de Yorkshin tbh) en la del 99 es ridículamente superior al 98% de las series que se estrenan hoy en día y no le envidia nada a la del 2011.
Y todos se quedan con la escena del golpe, pero para mí la de la devolución de la tarjeta es ampliamente más épica y memorable en la del 99.

Honestamente, la versión de 2011 es impecable, banda sonora, animación, incluso para esta pelea hay una ambientación que es única para el episodio, se siente la tensión y la ansiedad, la versión del 99 tiene sus pros, pero luego de 12 años la tecnología y la técnica para animar hicieron que el remake sea mucho mejor, sin mencionar que tiene el arco de las hormigas quimera.

la versión del 99 es más sutil, cosa que le puede jugar puntos a favor, ya que se ve más estratégico, pero también en contra tomando en cuenta a los personajes, la personalidad de hisoka en la versión del 2011 se siente más real, dado que es precavido pero brutal y gon es un salvaje, está versión no muestra bien eso, en lo personal la personalidad de hisoka en la versión sion del 99 me parece mucho más caricaturesca

The sound design for 1999 really dates it. Also the character design tweaks make the 2011 one better. The only thing the 99 one did better was Gon flipping the tile.

And yes, I've seen some of the 99 version. Although I didn't finish it because of the pathetic voice acting and (As I said earlier) the sound design. Also (again, stated earlier) the I like the way the characters look in the 2011 version much more.
I gotta say their is something more real and believable about keeping things tame. The 2011 version starts off being so flashy and bombastic it's like a crazy graphics test. Then you look at the 99 version and something about it feels real despite not being as flashy and trying to visually spaz you out all the time. The 2011 version isnt bad but I would say the older version is better in terms of selling you on the believability of the world and the story that's set inside of it. It isnt trying to impress you with the graphics but rather set the tone and the stage for these characters to Duke it out and it convey how pivotal this encounter is to the narrative.
It's really that simple to get people invested in a story, no thousands of dollars of special effects needed. Not that having good visuals is bad but I'm saying it's not exactly necessary.

The 99 one got dubbed into only a few languages, so it‘s pretty rare to find. For my country, it‘s on no legal streaming service.

Sin embargo, en el 99 ya existían técnicas de animación muy avanzadas y grandes artistas que hoy en día ya están retirados. No porque sea del 99 quiere decir que va a tener una animación inferior. Los 80's y 90's fueron la bonanza de la animación japonesa y eso se ve reflejado en el presupuesto que dedicaban a sus producciones. No estoy diciendo que una sea mejor que la otra, solo que el año no tiene nada que en este caso.

Having watch all episodes of both versions, 2011 is easily a trash compared to the level of greatness that 1999 delivered, the camera angles, the added elements for suspense, the way things are unfolded without the use of unnecessary narrator, the perfect colors for each scenes, even their skin tone was altered depending on whether its night or day, the reflections on their sweat, the reflections of moonlight in their blades(kurapika and leorio vs hisoka) the way sunset sunlight is reflected off the glasses of leorio, the way they perfectly fit the audio suited for each scene, the way they artistically presented nen and nen colors on contrary with 2011 smokey steam coming off as nen, not to mention the nen sound in 1999, the way 1999 maintained background images during fights unlike in 2011 they just speedblur the background(example is zoldycks vs kuroro)
I could keep the list going, but 2011 is an eyesore, it even hurts my ear when the narrator speaks as if we do not understand what were watching, lousy 2011
