    Hi, I've been trying this Anapanasati method from a week but I can't seem to let go and relax into it. What am I doing wrong?

    • @canyouzen
      @canyouzen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Hi there, you're probably not doing anything wrong, you may just have quite a bit of built up tension which may take some time to evaporate on its own. There are some things you can do to help with the process though.
      When you find it hard to relax the main reason is usually expectation - you're expecting something to happen rather than accepting the present moment exactly as it is. See if you can drop all expectations about what you think meditation should 'feel' like and just observe your present self exactly as you are. Fully accept yourself in this moment - say 'yes' to whatever your experience is right now. Be ok with it. Sometimes the mind finds it hard to let go of life's responsibilities - put yourself in the position of being no one and nothing, with not a care in the world - your only task right now is to be in this moment. This takes practices - you will get better over time as you discover more about how you tick 🙂 good luck in your journey 🙏

    • @canyouzen
      @canyouzen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are welcome Ma'am ☺️ you might be trying a little too hard, just relax and try to enjoy the process (smile!). Easier said than done, of course! It’s a matter of string not too tight, not too loose - listen to the 30 minute anapana for this. Observe these sensations in your face passively, and accept them fully. You will find that in time, they melt away. Relax and enjoy ☺️🙏🏼

    For how many days I should be doing be doing anapana meditation until the time I get to full body scan ?

    • @canyouzen
      @canyouzen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends more on how you are feeling in that moment rather than any predefined time. If you are feeling calm and focussed, use the body scan. If you are experiencing a storm, use anapana to anchor yourself to the present moment. Hope this helps 🙏

    There are many types of people who are curious about anapana-sati and have questions which i can help to answer because i am cruelly-utterly-brutally honest with words(including vulgar-words because i don't have a reputation to protect).

    • @engchoontan8483
      @engchoontan8483 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honesty is required (as the Buddha mentioned and recorded in the Dhamma)
      = without honesty, people waste time by thinking about feelings and answers and targets and what should it be like instead of actually doing the observations of the breadth (audiophiles can be delusional until hearing music instruments that are not present and criticise sound unfairly and ...)
      Control of the monkey-mind by
      = relaxing(body, mind)
      = gently bring attention(mindfulness) to breadth
      = gently keep the mind on the breadth (without manipulation)
      = when focus is lost, know it, gently bring focus-attention-mindfulness back to the breadth
      Targets
      = Length-duration of success at keeping the mind gently focused on the breadth, without thinking of other things (distracted, lost focus)
      = Speed at which the meditator know he is distracted
      = speed at which the meditator can bring the mind's attention back to the breadth
      = speed at which he can relax
      = speed at which he can go from not-relaxed to being mindful of the breadth

    • @engchoontan8483
      @engchoontan8483 ปีที่แล้ว

      People who are spiritually-destroyed(destroyed in the Dhamma), should-not continue to practice anything-spiritual because their baseline is locked to bad-evil(destroyed Dhamma-Niyama). Whatever powers they attain thereafter, will only lead to quicker and heavier accumulation of bad-Kamma. Extra power without control(morality of Dhamma-Niyama) for the conceited-and-ignorant(baseline for human-defilement, patticasamupadda) is a very bad thing.
      Many from indian-religions want to be right about their different-religions. If you are right, you will have whatever you aimed for (within those religions). If you are wrong, you need to acknowledge there is a problem and you need answers to it. Otherwise, you block yourself from right-neutral-wrong answers.
      Some say, the vagina and penis is the power. You have power already and can go away elsewhere. Control of mind is power. Control of steering-wheel is power. Control of money is power. Control of motors are powers. Remote-control of computer-games is power. Power over whatever you can control. If you can control your limbs like shaolin martial-artists, you have power over those limbs. If you have no control over your own mind, you emd up with obsessive-compulsive-disorders, bipolar-disorders, bad-habits, addictions, bad-personality, bad-attitudes, ... mental-disorders are no-control over self(mind). When have control, you have options like do i want to be good or bad, honest or dishonest, relaxed or stressed, focused or unfocus, ... options are available to those with control. Exercising options is power.

    • @engchoontan8483
      @engchoontan8483 ปีที่แล้ว

      How can something so simple have such powerful effect.?
      = because you cannot do
      = Control your-own mind
      = to be aware of its capabilities
      = to direct its capabilites
      = similar to control - air, direct air, redirect air, use air, release air
      == how can air be important.?
      == when you know about cyclone, pneumatic tools, a380 aircraft wings, turbofan engines, reheat of after-burning turbojet engines, big bomb exothermic, big bomb thermobaric, ... when you become aware of simple things like air, become knowledgeable about air... simple things to you...

    • @engchoontan8483
      @engchoontan8483 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because i can do
      Because i have spiritual abilities
      Because i know you want spiritual abilities
      Because Buddha-Dhamma-Sangha, triple-gems, Theravada (there are some who pollute the Dhamma by teaching the wrong things - don't have, have-nots, bullshitters)

    • @engchoontan8483
      @engchoontan8483 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steps for newbies
      = sit on chair (relax, still self, breathe and detect breadth, easy on body)
      = sit on floor with cushion, cross legged (stretch is yoga, ache is body, observe breadth while aching)
      = anapana (focus on breadth)
      = anapana-sati (mindfully focus on breadth)
      = sati-pathana vipassana (mindfullness practice have many "posture" - sitting, walking, lay down, daily life routines, ...)
      = sati-pathana vipassana anapana-sati (review basics and fundamentals)
