    This meditation was kinda “awakening” for me.
    It made me realize that I am constantly at war with myself..
    A push and pull between relaxing state and an overthinking..
    A rollercoaster of emotions

    Thank you so much for these guided sits. You do a fantastic job of refreshing the purpose of each sit which is helpful especially because lessons from the course fade away with time. Also, thank you for the shorter 10,15,30,45 min sits. Sometimes, that's all the time one can spare and they really come through. Recommendation: please consider videos with no guidance during the sit i.e guide & give instruction at the beginning then observe silence till the end. This allows for deeper self reflection e.g when I'm not being equanimous during the sit, I find myself investigating why and pushing myself to be equanimous. An outside reminder on the same makes it a more mechanical process than reflective. The guidance, though useful, does not give me the opportunity to take full control of my mind which may be hard but is necessary. Also, while in deep concentration, the voice can snap one out of the meditative focus. Just something to consider. Otherwise, thank you for taking your time to create these truly impactful videos. May all beings be happy!

    When focusing on the breath and switching your attention to the rest of the body, do you stop focusing on the breath to pay attention to sensations in the body or is it a combination of focusing on the breath while you allow the brain to give attention to the sensations in the body? Thanks!

    • @canyouzen
      @canyouzen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      This is a really great question! The bulk of the technique involves focusing solely on sensations, but sometimes we are lacking sufficient concentration to do this. This is where we can use the breath to help us maintain awareness by scanning through at the pace of our breath, maintaining of soft awareness on both. We should generally aim to be as flexible as possible in our practice - don’t fret over what you think is right or wrong. The most important thing is that you’re aware and balanced. Trust your experience 🙂🙏🏼

    Can one focus on dominant sensations in the body to investigate the sensations after maybe 1 round of scanning to observe impermanence . Usually there are strong sensations in particular areas of the body.

    • @canyouzen
      @canyouzen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Rohan - you can always be flexible in your practice and adjust your awareness depending on how strong your concentration is. Dominant sensations are usually only focussed on when concentration is weak as they are easier to stay on - so the answer is, it depends on your changing mind state. Your goal though, should be to notice subtler and subtler sensations, to realise subtler and subtler truths.

    Lately when I meditate I get a strong tingling sensation in my chest. Sometimes they’re really intense. Other times less so. It’s like anxieties. Or dropping from a roller coaster. In general I’m not an anxious person. Im having trouble sitting and breathing through. How do I work with this?

    • @canyouzen
      @canyouzen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is actually quite common and happened to a quite a few of my close friends in their first 10-day courses. You are just becoming aware of some anxieties that were always within you, just stuck at a deeper level. Let it release and try and observe objectively. I know it can be difficult but the goal is to keep trying. Breathe with it, accept it, smile at it. Keep working and eventually over time, it will get weaker and weaker (sometimes you may feel that it gets stronger, but the generally long-term trajectory will be down!). Hope this helps 🙂 Wishing you well 🙏

    If emotions come up, should I vipassanilize them? Or ignore and go back body sensation?
    The emotion come up usually when I notice i was lost in thought (guilt or soemthing lol) or when I reach a relaxation level and my mind gets scared lol

    • @canyouzen
      @canyouzen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Every emotion you feel has a physical bodily component too. Whatever predominant sensation you observe when you are experiencing a strong emotion, will be linked to that emotion. So explore it, and ask yourself, what does this emotion really feel like in the body?
      These emotions that you're describing are very very common for everyone - don't get frustrated when your mind wanders, just accept, and keep trying =) you are building your skill of patience and diligence. Also keep trying to smile at that scared feeling, get comfortable with it...it is normal to be scared when confronted with reality. You will succeed =)
