    Nice old tractor, good job buddy and yes I like them

      Thanks 👍. I love these old heavy-built garden tractors. Not only does it remind me of my youth, but they're just so fun to drive, and amazingly built.

    I just finished restoring a 1974 model 149 that was my dads. I have rear wheel weights, snow thrower and blade for it. Will still last longer than the tractors built today. Nice tractor, it will last you a lifetime if you take care of it

    Looks like its in excellent shape, i bet even being 40 years old it will still last you longer and work harder than if you bought a rider from a box store! Hydro lift i dont think is a common option on garden tractor class.

    Wow, that's in great shape, those K321 's are hard to kill.

      It's in really good shape! I look forward to using it - though now I think maybe it should just be used for parades. :)

    I love my 169!.. it's a stout build. My only complaints 1) engine is hard mounted to frame 2) wheel base should be 2 inches longer, 3) should have had a pedal to control hydrostatic drive rather than that funky handle

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      The 169 is becoming more and more rare! Congrats on owning one. A hydrostatic pedal would be nice - there are some people who have fabricated one. While the engine being mounted to the frame isn't the best for long-term repair- it might be preferred by some to the mounts used in the later quiet-line series. Thanks for watching!

    Like the views on your cub I’m rebuilding a 1950 cub with a lot of what your cadet has mine won’t look as nice as yours it needs to go back to doing what these old corn binders were built for 😂😂

    What size deck is that, i just bougt a 71 149 hydrostatic ans it has a 50c deck on it but i don't think it's orginal to the mower

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That deck was a small one. I think it was a 32 or 36 inch. But I have owned Cub Cadet 149 tractors with the 48 inch deck. I think that was pretty common. And I have used the 50-inch deck on a 149. I don't know if that was originally available with the 149, but I've seen that combo.

    • @bradleydunford725
      @bradleydunford725 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @PurpleCollarLife oh ok, yeah from my research online they came with 38" 44" and 50" decks, this is my first 149. I've had a 129 and 862 cub cadet

    What’s the pto lever used for?

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      It engages the PTO clutch on the engine. The PTO can be used for the mid mount mower, the rear rototiller, or the front snow blower.

    Looks great.
    My Pap had one just about like that. I don't think his had headlights and was a manual shift. I was running a late '80s Cub Cadet 1210 Hydro full-time mowing up until about 10 years ago. Rock solid tractor. Does the battery on yours have a hold-down? And, maybe put a rubber boot over the positive terminal. Wouldn't want that to bounce into that metal panel above the battery.

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi @Patrick Wags - These old Cub Cadets made by International Harvester are amazing machines. The one we have does have a battery hold down. But there is no boot over the positive terminal - that's a great idea. Thanks for watching!

    Haven't seen an original IH Cub Cadet in a while! I had a chance to buy one a few years ago, but it was in much worse shape (very rusty) They just don't make mowers like that anymore. Wow! You scored big!👍 Those look like the original Firestone turf tires on the front. Congrats on your new acquisition!

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, no. I have a tractor problem and I like shopping, finding, and fixing them. But I can't keep them all. This was one that I was glad to find and get running good, and then make some profit on during the resale.
