  • In this video, we replace the Kohler K321 carburetor on the Cub Cadet 149 and troubleshoot running issues. It would only run with the choke on. #Howto #purplecollarlife #outdoorgans #cubcadet #InternationalHarvester #IHCubcadet #cubcadet149

    Carburators are always tricky to work on and tune, I've found out. Glad you were able to get yours fixed. 👍 Keep up the good work, Chad!

    That lawn tractor is awesome brother. There's definitely something about using older lawn equipment.

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You got that right! It takes me back to my first days mowing as a child. And even though it's not a "tractor" like the 8N, it has that tractor feel instead of lawn mower feel like the newer mowing machines.

      @@williamjohnson9727 I haven't. That's a great idea! I don't know much about it - I'll have to use TH-cam to research. Have you ever tried it?

    Is that mower your 2nd mower in case you’re not using the zero turn?

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Sam - Yes, I bought it thinking it would be a backup mower just in case the zero turn is at one location, and I need this one at another property.

    I've got a 149, and a 1650. My great grandpa was the 2nd owner of the 149. He parked it almost 30 years ago, I dug it out of the barn in March and got it running, there is something I want to do with my cubs that I'd recommend for you to do also. I am going to find a brinly sleeve hitch for the back of the tractors. Then I'll look for a brinly plow and go to plow day(s). I've seen plenty people do it but I've never been, I think that would be something fun for you to do with your 149.

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both great machines! I do have the hydraulic sleeve already on the back, and the bottom mount for a system like you have seen. But I don’t have the arms that lift (or the plow). Those plow days always do look fun. Thank you for watching and commenting!

    Ive had pretty good luck with the amazon carburetors, mostly for honda replacements, maybe its harder to get a match due to age. That cub is in very nice shape, definitly a good find!

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! The Amazon carb worked good in the push mower. But this one just wasn't the right choke setup for this old Cub and the K321 Kohler engine.

    So is there a proper carb out there that works and how much?

    • @PurpleCollarLife
      @PurpleCollarLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      We used the carb that was made for the Kohler in the Cub Cadet 149. We found a rebuilt one off another old machine.

      I did watch him disassemble it- and then he put it into an ultrasonic cleaner. It looks like something I could attempt now that I've seen someone else doing it.
