Nice review. The VRSC is a great "city bike" and while some folks below think it "ugly", the cult bros love the styling. Also, one of the most reliable bikes ever sold by HD. Porsche made the engine bulletproof.
@@manatuhou1165 Idk man I found an 08 vrod nightrod for 4250 USD 3 hours away, I just got home like 20 minutes ago and my tailbone is KILLIN me lol, my legs and back feel great though, I think another softer seat would make the bike perfect, one thing I don't like is redline below 10k rpms, imo it needs to rev a bit higher (I'm coming from 600 and 1000CC sportbikes that rev all the way up to 17k+rpm so I might be a bit biased, when I test drove it I was hitting that red line so quick I bounced off it a couple times thinkin I had more and I kept on shifting after the 5th gear because I'm used to having a 6th. I guess it'll take some getting used to...but I fell in love on that 3 hour ride back home and all the harley guys I passed actually waved at me which made me feel good lol.
I don't agree with you, this is not a good city bike, not easy to handle. Good for an open road. Its understandable why is hated by the HD community, its not a true Harley. Its 90% a german engine, but good engine tough. Honestly I rather have a Yamaha vmax. Really reliable, better handling, more power
I walked into Harley trying to decide between a Road King and a Vrod, and I rolled out with a 2013 Night Rod. The muscle bike look is what I've been wanting since I laid eyes on a bike and no other bike pulls it off the way Harley did. Love this thing
i thought the foot pegs needed to be place back a bit but after riding it, they are in perfect position and very comfortable. i have no complaint about mine...fun, incredible bike
That was actually a great assessment. I just bought a 2013 V Rod muscle. Oh I always really liked Harleys sound and look, but the performance from my CBR 1000 just had me. I did always like the V Rod since it came out. I was very excited to finally buy one. LOL and all the other Harley owners in my family was happy about it!
The only and one Harley-Davidson i would ever buy, if I could afford a Harley. I dont care what you think about, this HD design and power masterpiece is the one. In silver, by the way.
Own a 2003 V-Rod two-tone 100th Anniversary - best Harley ever. Modified in "Night-Rod" design with 280 Metzeler wide tire conversion. Don´t like the new "Sportster". Best wishes from Germany
My son bought a 2008 VRod Night Rod Special with only 3 ,000 miles on it. I have always wanted one. That is the only reason you buy them because they are fun. A lot of HD bikes are sitting in garages because old guys don't ride as much as they thought they would.
I had a 2013 heritage soft tail classic and traded it in last year on my now current 2009 Vrod nightrod special and I absolutely love it. Only thing that I miss about my heritage are the saddle bags lol
You didn't even scratch the surface of this bike. I've had plenty of Harley guys say it's power is "OK". You need to hold the throttle wide open past 6,000 7,000 8,000 RPM. It feels unnatural for a "Harley guy" to not shift the bike. Try it and hold on. Yes - it's not a sport bike Yes- it's a muscle bike. However, I'm very comfortable riding a few hundred miles a day on it.
I bought a 2003/100 anniversary and now has 70,000 miles on it I never had a problem except for the rear tire I burned off a couple of rear tires but As For reliability it is rocksolid very dependable regular oil changes in 2000 miles yeah I know 2000 miles for me I don’t play that 7000 mile oil thing, good synthetic oil dump that shit while it’s still good
Never owned one, ridden one, nor likely ever will, but I think the V Rod is a fabulous bike. I also like the 500/750 street bikes. I was glad to see Harley make them all and sorry to see they have been discontinued. I have an 86 Sportster (first year of the Evo Sportster) and a 96 Evo Soft tail custom. The 86 Sportster (started as an 883 punched out to 1200 with S&S kit) has served me well all these years. I drag raced it through the late 80's and all through the 90's. It has been to Yosemite, Bonneville, and many other places. I am sorry to see the Sportster discontinued too but I understand.
I rode a Street 750 & loved it, almost bought it but was in rough cond. that bike was fast & handled well. I also rode a few V Rods & they were awesome too, so much torque. I had a 95 1200 Sportster, best bike I ever had, now on an 05 Superglide, love the comfort & power
i still remember the first time i saw a V-Rod. just strait curb drool, but out of my reach....it was different at the time; but enough Willy G. love got put into it, that i don't know how anyone could have "hated" it..
@@BruceLee-xn3nn From what I've gathered, yes. They don't like this bike because of Porsche's involvement with the engine. From what I've observed, most Harley riders are big, heavy bois that wouldn't be comfortable with the seating position this bike requires.
Thanks for reviewing this amazing bike 👍 I have a 13 muscle and it has been extremely reliable and powerful plus it’s much more comfortable than both my Former bikes a Ducati848 EVO & Monster .
A great bike that had a motor designed for crossing continents fast and in comfort but styled to run out of fuel before it got to the end of the street and hurt your hips sometime before you got even that far.
It's too high-tech for the average Harley owner that is still marveling at the twin cam pushrod engine. They lack the smarts to work on 4 valve, OHC liquid cooling.
Great video !! I JUST bought a Night Rod Special !! You are correct too... it's my very first bike so it did indeed bring me to the Harley brand and I'm already thinking of getting a FatBoy or a Breakout for my next bike !! Great content !! Well delivered !! Keep it up Brother !! Ride on and ride safe !! 💪😎👌
First I painfully watched your whole video And do not do a review of a bike that you have only ridding a hand full of miles I bought a 2012 X 10 year anniversary and there is a group of us with VRods that go on all day rides and have no problem Plus all vrods built starting in 2006 have the same peg position and I am 5.8 and reach the pegs perfect. We also have friends on sport bikes that have a hard time keeping up with us in the corners That 240 back tire makes turns and cornering so much better
Do your homework before making statements you have no clue of Porsche had very little to do with the V Rod all they did was help Harley make the engine for street use
I think that rather large oil cooler he was talking about was the radiator. If this is his assumption, he is arguably wrong. Great display of that bike.
I actually like this bike a lot , with the exception of the ugly, but necessary radiator, and the really stupidly placed exhaust pipes. Guess it's alright if you like burning the hair off of your legs, going deft and breathing in lots of fumes while sitting at a light or in traffic...not to mention the heat coming up in your face. Very poor design there!
Hello, I am Sandra, the manufacturer of LED lights , and like your video on TH-cam. Would you be willing to test them? We will send you a new set if you are interested.
I have the 2012 denim black muscle. I tell you the real reason the so called wank wank purists hate the Vrod is the mere fact that it outperforms their bikes on every level. When you see the video of the Muscle literally sprinting away from the 114 Milwaukee Breakout and stomps a 110 low rider s after a head start, says it all, just can't handle it 😂😂😂
You're a "bagger" kind of guy. I would expect that from you. To me baggers are old man bikes and very unappealing in every way. My 2016 NRS steals the show everywhere it goes, including the baggers
Nice review. The VRSC is a great "city bike" and while some folks below think it "ugly", the cult bros love the styling. Also, one of the most reliable bikes ever sold by HD. Porsche made the engine bulletproof.
The bike is beautiful.
I see PLENTY of traditional HD on the road but only seen a vrod twice on the road since they came out in early 2000s.
Bikes are good in town and for long rides and they go alright I like them just not keen on owning one rather the Softail look

The new sportster stinks, looks bad and sounds like a twin. Vrods are dam awesome and my favs are the early years like yours 👌
Funny how it's also by far the best motorcycle Harley ever made

Watched the review and realized you were in my old stomping grounds! Born and raised on Johns Island... love the review man!
If you get a chance to ride a Night Rod with mid controls do it.
Yeah I got a 06 night rod and love the mid controls. Can stand up on long trips and feels more relaxed to ride.
Forwards are nice if you‘re tall

Those who hate on this bike probably have larger bellies than the fake fuel tank.
FACT!
Dink Dews: their bellies stick out more than their dinky dew😂
But they're the ones buy traditional expensive Harley's and carrying their wife plus baggage.

How tall does a person have to be to not have to lean too far forward or have your back get sore?
A great bike that had a motor designed for crossing continents fast and in comfort but styled to run out of fuel before it got to the end of the street and hurt your hips sometime before you got even that far.
that engine sounds great runs damn fine from what I can here
My 2004 was excruciating for both rider and passenger until I got a Sundowner seat. Whole new bike!
Dude, i thought your vrod doing just fine. Love the sounds the look, 2 seaters is the best
What’s the name of that exhaust on that Vrod? ❤❤❤
Where can I buy that exhaust?
Why kind of fairing/windshield is that? I really want cafe fairing
Not for me..
.the V-Rod is my most loved....what a wonderful machine !
V Rod is the only HD i have ever wanted to own...
Is it bad I have a 2020 LRS and want to ride it in cause a dealership near me finally has a v rod?
You mentioned rocker boxes but this engine is the double overhead cam with out rockers so wouldn't you call them cam boxes?
what year is that bike ??
I thought you said you were going to open it up?
Sounds good with those pipes. Like the looks bit I'm riding an ultra
You used my clutch like that you'd never be on my bike again
Has about the same power as my 890R, with my bike weighing in right under 400lbs.

Never got in the powerband of the engine, such a shame
That pipe looks dangerous. I don’t think I would get on that without chaps.
Harley Davidson V-Rod is very exciting!!
You can't shift it like the hundred-year-old Harleys wind it up
I always loved the V Rod

Change the exhaust, and the shift pos, bring the bars up and back a little, then it would be ok.
The best thing harley ever created by far, with the help of Porsche !

I’m sorry did he say oil cooler?
He's partially correct. About 2/3 of the front fairing is a radiator, and the bottom 1/3 is a rather large oil cooler.
I think that rather large oil cooler he was talking about was the radiator. If this is his assumption, he is arguably wrong. Great display of that bike.
Most hated.....until the XG750
You shift that V-Rod like a little girl
the best... i love my myscle
not bad.
