I was one of those guys in my late thirties that said baggers were old man bikes. And I stuck by that opinion right up until I road my friends 1996 Ultra and after just 5 minutes of riding it I knew that I was going to buy one ASAP. A month later I bought a 2003 Anniversary Ultra. That was around 2007, 100,000 miles later I am still riding that bike and never felt the need to look for another bike. A few years later the Streetglide came out and the masses finally figured it out. Baggers rock. And you would be amazed at how much you can pack into that luggage system.
I flew from Australia in 2018 with two mates and did Sturgis and everything else on the Ultra’s courtesy of Eaglerider in LA. Sad to give it back at the end of an epic trip in your great country! Cheers.

Common issue with Harley is a lag in utilizing new tech on their bikes. The Milwaukee 8 is a perfect example. Other companies like Honda were going 4valve and water cooling on 2 cylinders (CX500), in the late 70's, proving the design is worthwhile. When did Harley go 4v? Waaaay later. Don't get me wrong, Harley's are great bikes, but imagine how good they could have been if they had adopted full-water-cooling, Fuel injection, computer control, and 4v back in the 80's? They likely would have destroyed to competition. Btw, LOVE that Full Dresser. Best Harley ever.

I've ridden the Ultra Classic and owned a Road Glide and in a cross wind, the frame mounted fairing works better than the handlebar mounted fairing. I bought a 82 Goldwing in 85 and it had a frame mounted fairing, the new Ultra's are nice, they are just too heavy for some one 74.

6 gallon fuel tank. It's an electra glide, they just call them ultra classic (air/oil cooled) and ultra limited which has twin cooling (radiators in lowers for the heads). I have a 2017 vivd black ultra classic. The windshield vent reduces buffeting when open. If you close it, you will get more buffeting as the air rolls over the windshield. That's the primary purpose of the vent - not for cooling. I also wear a full-face helmet. The lowers have vents, but the fairing also has adjustable "wings", for lack of a better term, to direct air onto your torso. Love it - great bike. That red is my favorite color combo, but a new black one with an upgraded infotainment system was available for a killer deal, so that's what I bought. I use my cruise control a lot and it works great. The EITMS is the engine idle temperature management system. When you are idling and the temperature hits a certain value, it will shut down the rear cylinder to help reduce heat. You can turn that feature off by rolling the throttle forward and holding it there a couple of seconds. I leave mine on - it turns the rear cylinder back on as soon as you twist the throttle. If all the Harley hater "experts", or anyone for that matter, would ride one of the Milwaukee 8 touring bikes, I think they would be really impressed with them.
EITMS = engine idle temp management system - basically shuts off the rear cylinder to keep the bike from cooking the rider at a stop. Makes the bike idle rough but it does work.
90,000 on my O5 ultra classic. never gave 500 or 700 mile days a thought except for how big my smile was.😀. two up with my wife, she got a saddlebag, I got one shared the trunk and a tie down bag on top. had a big bore kit installed right after I bought it. with true duel rhineharts and ported heads. Now it's getting bored and stroked S&S geared 510's,S&S balanced flywheel. bigger valve springs. then another 90,000 or more.
I have a 2017 uktra limited that i bought back in April. I almost already put two thousand miles on it. I had a wide glide before. When that one got wrecked. I told myself. The next bike is going to be an ultra classic. Well, i waited a ten years. Then, i got myself a ultra limited. Planning on my first major road to Ohio in about a month. I can't wait.
If could afford to, and if it were possible during the covid age, I would fly from my home in western australia to Pennsylvania and buy that bike, thats how well you sold it! 😂 best wishes mate!
I'm leaving my M8 stock. Harleys are heirloom bikes because they last a long time. Yeah, they're expensive, but the highest mileage bikes on Ebay are Harleys. 100k mile Harleys aren't rare. I believe Sean has one.
@@MyDyerMaker Get over yourself. Your post hurt nobody's feelings, it simply didn't make sense. Kawasaki Concours 1000s out there with over 200k of trouble free riding with the engines never being opened up. It's all on C.O.G. 100k just broken in. No Harley is even close in reliability.
I love the Milwaukee 8. I had the 107 on my 2017 Road King. I traded up to the Limited with the 114 in 2019 on my way home from Daytona Bike Week after test riding one at the track. In the 2 years I had my Road King, I averaged about 12K miles per year. In the 1 1/2 years since owning my Limited, I’ve averaged 20K miles per year. I just passed 31K last week (18 months). I can’t get enough. Before the Road King, I had a Heritage and probably averaged about 8-10K per year (2007-2017).
My brother-in-law bought one of those, brand new, a couple years ago. Custom white paint job with very cool pinstriping. He decided to change out the tail pipes and drill out the catalytic converters, by himself. He wanted that old school roar. Unfortunately, once the catalytic converters was removed, he was never able to tune it properly. They are definitely complex machines. Eventually he bought a new set of the original pipes and put them on it.
Bruh, here in my country (Indonesia) Iron 883 starts from 27,500 usd. On the road price will be around 32,400 usd. My country has the worst taxes ever 😅
The vent isn't really "supposed to" anything. It reduces buffeting, sometimes at higher speeds, sometimes it doesn't. What I'm saying is, the vent isn't mandatory at highway speeds. I will say it does work as advertised when it is needed. Had my Ultra Classic for a tad over two years and this is why I've found with the vent. If you change your windshield that changes things. Just have to play around with it.
My wife said I needed saddlebags I said really ! Let's go for a ride got down the rode a bit and pulled over . I took my helmet off due to it was a warm day I asked her to hold my helmet then blast down the rode a bit more then pulled over to put my helmet back on . Thinking out loud like I usally do I said Im straight not having bags since I have a ole lady.....
I have a 2019 Street Glide Special ... and I leave that fairing vent open all the time! I get way too much buffeting with the vent closed. I added a Memphis Shades 6.5" curved screen to it, it's perfect for me (5'8" tall).
I have a 2019 and it spoiled me rotten. I took the windshield off and the slipons. The bike now sounds great and keeps the wind in my face. Smooth ride. I'd recommend this bike to everyone. It is heavy but I'm 5'7 120 lbs. N I handle it just fine.
So for $20K (Almost half the price) i have 140 HP, 300 lb lighter, power windshield, heated grips and seat, electronic suspension, Traction control, removable luggage, stereo and bluetooth streaming, Satellite radio and i run rings round these chrome couches!!!!
Those bikes are beautiful. I'm going to buy a used one next spring. There are a lot of them on the market with low miles because people ran out and bought them during the sons of anarchy days. rode them a for a little while on the weekends and then lost interest, wife says sell it, because they didn't grow up around motorcycles and bikers. In other words they weren't real bikers. Nothing wrong with getting into new ventures but since every one went out and bought them now the market is flooded with used ones. In the 70's and 80's you had to order a Harley and wait for up to 6 months for one. You could get close to new price from well take care of used one if you were lucky enough to find one for sale. I'm speaking the electra glide of course. the ultra's came later. Same bike though as far as riding goes.
Bought a 2017 Ultra Classic in late May of 2018 from the showroom floor. 25K, a road trip from Nor-Cal to Central Illinois, not a hitch. The best bike I've ever owned and I have zero intentions of ever trading it off. I'll be like Willy the Wimp, the bike and I can go into the great blue yonder together
I love you channel specially bikes and beards ! Like the word of wisdom. I'm kinda a PUNK but I believe. Keep it up and thanks brother. I ride a 2018 iron I love it but I except what it is . Some day ILL get a bike like this but ILL keep my iron. God bless brother.
I have a 2018 TriGlide Ultra which is the 3-wheeled version of this bike, even including the two-tone red paint scheme. Everything he says is true. I ride down to 35 degrees with only normal gear (lined jacket, chaps, warm gloves). Even in the rain, not much of it gets onto me due to the fairings. Really unexcelled comfort, lots of power. The "old man bike" is not entirely untrue, I suppose -- we've done the tough-guy thing and have nothing to prove anymore. I don't apologize for liking my creature comforts. :-)
I have two CVOs. One is a 2016 breakout and the other is a 2018 street glide. The only problem I’ve ever had with the CVO Breakout is it kills my back. After about two hours, I can’t wait to get off of it. But the bike is fast and loud and I love it. The street glide has a lot of upsides on the breakout like fairings and bags blah blah blah. But the nav sometimes has no idea where I am and will show me in the middle of a lake somewhere, the speakers in the bags sound like they’re blown, I’ve had them replaced twice, and they still buzz like hell with bass, and the Milwaukee 8 HATES to run cold. The twin cam 110 on my breakout can just fire up and go, but even in the heat of summer the 114 M8 needs to warm up for a good 5-10 minutes or it chokes on itself and stutters bad when you crank on the throttle.
That vent isn’t actually made to give you more air through the vent, but to reduce the buffeting by throwing the air up and essentially creating an invisible windshield. I have it with a short klockwerks windshield on my street glide and can feel a big difference when that vent is open.
Wow. You have me thinking. Used to be a purist but then again there's something to be said for treating yourself and enjoying the ride. For getting the deluxe treatment.
I’ve been considering the new FLHT because I like that it’s stripped down to basics, but a used one of these could be the better choice. My fiancée would love the comfort, especially with heated seats.
I own a 2019 Ultra Limited with the 114 cu engine.I ride just about everyday, and with trips put on 15,000- 18,000 miles per year. It’s a great bike. But it doesn’t have most “ergonomic “ seating position, especially for rides over 2 hrs. , that award goes to the K1600 bikes
Adding the triple tree wind deflector to this bike makes it even more awesome! Freedom Shields will sell you any height windshield you want and they are thicker than stock!
Ive been riding for 15 years. Im still waiting for the time to come when cruise control is awesome. I think I just live in a shitty state though. Maybe when I retire I can move and enjoy some cruise control. Till then, throttle and brake lights.
Hey Shawn, I am looking to purchase a 2002 Harley softail , with 22,000 miles on it. It has Vance and hines FULL exhaust system, Real nice aftermarket spoke wheels. With bigger spokes , aftermarket bars, custom front fender, and LOTS of chrome additions to it. IS 10,900 a decent deal for this Bike? I mean its smokin CLEAN. IT was a fire fighter edition, its all black now. But I just wanted to ask your opinion.. and What I should look for before purchasing.

They aren't quite there yet! Where's the perma clutch? Automatic valve adjustment? Center stand? Reverse? On the go air ride adjustment? All features that my 96 Goldwing has......
Great content. That's a great looking bike with fit and finish second to none but I love being able to push the button on my Victory and lower or raise the windshield as needed. And factory standard equipment heated his/her seat and heated grips and electric cruise control is really nice especially when you ride all seasons. Shame that stuff is optional on a $30,000. motorcycle. Ride safe! 🇺🇸👌
Yea but Harley will fix your bike as a priority if you are on a road thrip and a dealership is always close by. I had a victory for 8 years and loved it too until my drive belt broke in Asheville NC and i had to rent a U haul and tow it 100 miles to the nearest dealer and that was when they where still in business. With Victory out of business now you are screwed if the bike breaks down. Also Victory has basically no resale value for this reason.
Hey Sean, you ever ride a early 80s Yamaha Maxim XJ1100? You should find one and do a test and compare to a modern equivalent. Keep up the good work dudes.
My first harley 1982 FLH for my 22nd birthday, still own it. Had nothing but a full dressed harley since. I knew back in the day I was gonna go harley. Rode friends sporty and low ride, then one of my older brother's buddy let me take his "80 Electra glide for a ride. That sealed the deal right there.
this bike has ALMOST everything you need............. stage 1 that bike with a highflow air and slip on exhaust, then tune it. you will thank me later when you are on a bike, you know you are on a motorycle.... when you are on a harley you KNOW you are on a harley. with the nearly infinate amount of parts, and upgrades, there is ZERO reason that you cant keep these bikes until your great grandkids are ready to inherit it. (watch million dollar bogan and watch him DELIBERATELY ABUSE his harley and it still runs like a swiss watch lol)
deplorably yours I dunno, lots of Harley riders look at a Yamaha Raider and say “what Harley is that?” All the Victory baggers have just as good looks as a Hardley-Ableson with way better reliability.
vic vapor nah I’ll ride with anyone, I’ll just wait at the next corner for the Harley to catch up. You Harley guys should actually want us metric guys to ride with you, that way you’ve got someone to bring you home when the Harley breaks down!!!
It will break down in a way I cannot repair at the side of the road and I will have to walk home. Yeah that would be a good and valid excuse not to ride it!
This is what you get if you get a car designer to design a motorcycle. Let's put everything on it to try and make it into a car. The funniest thing ever a vent to let air through the device designed to prevent air hitting you. Priceless.

EITMS = engine idle temp management system - basically shuts off the rear cylinder to keep the bike from cooking the rider at a stop. Makes the bike idle rough but it does work.
just something else to go wrong
You can turn it off if you want to.
Wife: chattering non-stop
Me thinking: I want more peace and quiet. Proceeds to unplug coms

@vic vapor Where? In the middle of the Pacific ocean? That would be hilarious to do a point of sale in the middle of the largest ocean.
I'm leaving my M8 stock. Harleys are heirloom bikes because they last a long time. Yeah, they're expensive, but the highest mileage bikes on Ebay are Harleys. 100k mile Harleys aren't rare. I believe Sean has one.
I guess you never seen high mileage bmw’s. Keep drinking the orange cool aid. Used harleys are cheap and plentiful
The next owner will thank you.
@@frankbutaric3565 BMWs don't appeal to me. Sorry that my post hurt your feelings.
*slaps trunk* "You can fit SO many bananas in this bad boy!"
Heated grips and seats are standard on a Roadmaster. 😎
I wish our country (India) didn't impose heavy taxes on harley davidson bikes😖. Even Iron 883 ex-showroom starts at USD 12,500
Bruh, here in my country (Indonesia) Iron 883 starts from 27,500 usd. On the road price will be around 32,400 usd. My country has the worst taxes ever 😅

The vent is suppose to be open on the highway to reduce buffeting
No way I love Jimmy Buffet!!
Stepped on a pop top
@@jimmypopp2695 lol
@@daddski1 Had to do it...LMFAO
The vent isn't really "supposed to" anything. It reduces buffeting, sometimes at higher speeds, sometimes it doesn't. What I'm saying is, the vent isn't mandatory at highway speeds. I will say it does work as advertised when it is needed. Had my Ultra Classic for a tad over two years and this is why I've found with the vent. If you change your windshield that changes things. Just have to play around with it.

Thought he meant for her butt ...
Watched your entire series on Amazon Prime and had come drop a sub. Keep it up my man.
Have the 2014 version of this and we love it.
Whether you accept it or not Harley Davidson is King
King of what?
So for $20K (Almost half the price) i have 140 HP, 300 lb lighter, power windshield, heated grips and seat, electronic suspension, Traction control, removable luggage, stereo and bluetooth streaming, Satellite radio and i run rings round these chrome couches!!!!
What you ride?
I ride a mt10 but that Harley still has a purpose.

Big Papa you have a 2006 concours. You definitely don’t have an h2 lol
Eitms is rear cylinder shutoff. When on, it will turn the rear cylinder into an air pump (no fuel) when the engine gets hot
yep....at idle
As always, great review Sean. A very nice bike. I have a voyager and love it. A very similar bike.
I am 30 years old and own a 18 ultra limited. It does anything you want. Best part, it holds two full face helmets in the rear trunk
I have a 2018 looks identical to that and I always ride it as much as I can I love my ultra...plus I'm 30 and it's beyond my favorite bike
That vent isn’t actually made to give you more air through the vent, but to reduce the buffeting by throwing the air up and essentially creating an invisible windshield. I have it with a short klockwerks windshield on my street glide and can feel a big difference when that vent is open.
I wonder if that motor still burns right inner legs like the twin cam did in slow traffic in warm days? Thanks
12.15 2 lights on!!! What are they? TPSM- tire pressure monitor system.
Wow. You have me thinking. Used to be a purist but then again there's something to be said for treating yourself and enjoying the ride. For getting the deluxe treatment.
No! My husband goes on the back.
I’m 32 and own a UC 103. I love it. The ride is amazing, and 100% different than my evo fat boy lol.
I have year 2017 FLHTK Electra Glide Ultra Limited and same color. Best bike I've ever own!!
Great video, keep up the good work.
Adding the triple tree wind deflector to this bike makes it even more awesome! Freedom Shields will sell you any height windshield you want and they are thicker than stock!
Love my Electra glide ultra classic!!
What is the flashing green light on the cluster?
Bought a 2014 Triglide, pretty much an Ultra Classic on three wheels. It is hands down the most comfortable motorcycle iv'e ever owned.
First bike I ever rode. Think I was 14? Yeah, I was on the back but still. I've been hooked ever since
The dash instrument's font reminds me of a GM dash from the 00s. Anyone else?
What the crap was that flashing green light all about?
Its still called the ultra classic....cant just be an ultra because they still run the ultra limited....great stuff man....rubber down
Just buy an Indian Challenger. It has more HP, all the shit and it's half the price.
Ive been riding for 15 years. Im still waiting for the time to come when cruise control is awesome. I think I just live in a shitty state though. Maybe when I retire I can move and enjoy some cruise control. Till then, throttle and brake lights.
"You could fit so many bananas in here" should become the new standard for judging tour pak sizes.

I have the 2014 version of that bike same color absolutely love it
i got a 94 with evo and i love it starts right up every time goes anywhere and everywhere i can ride all day on it and love it i put apehangers on mine took off the touring stuff when i got mine i got it off the guy who got it brand new two owners me and him it was fully stock
Congrats to HD for finally arriving in the 21st century
@john harris you mean HD buyers want old technology, failing and leaking motors, overpriced motorcycles, parts and merch and some serious dad energy
They aren't quite there yet! Where's the perma clutch? Automatic valve adjustment? Center stand? Reverse? On the go air ride adjustment? All features that my 96 Goldwing has......
@@keithchrysler3732 the Goldwing has always been ahead of the curb only real competition to it are the BMW but even then
Great content. That's a great looking bike with fit and finish second to none but I love being able to push the button on my Victory and lower or raise the windshield as needed. And factory standard equipment heated his/her seat and heated grips and electric cruise control is really nice especially when you ride all seasons. Shame that stuff is optional on a $30,000. motorcycle. Ride safe! 🇺🇸👌
wait till little up and down motor turns into a toaster
Yea but Harley will fix your bike as a priority if you are on a road thrip and a dealership is always close by. I had a victory for 8 years and loved it too until my drive belt broke in Asheville NC and i had to rent a U haul and tow it 100 miles to the nearest dealer and that was when they where still in business. With Victory out of business now you are screwed if the bike breaks down. Also Victory has basically no resale value for this reason.
Love cruise control didn't know I needed it until my 2017 Street Glide
My 96 Goldwing has that and much more! Harley is still in the dark ages.
That is cute since Harley was putting cruise control on bikes since 1989
True... The only thing missing is a 1/4 mile time
Hey Sean, you ever ride a early 80s Yamaha Maxim XJ1100? You should find one and do a test and compare to a modern equivalent. Keep up the good work dudes.
I'm old enough to need one but in denial enough to prefer my Dyna .
Maybe when I hit 65 in half a decade I'll get the comfortable option
get a roadking built before 2016
My first harley 1982 FLH for my 22nd birthday, still own it. Had nothing but a full dressed harley since. I knew back in the day I was gonna go harley. Rode friends sporty and low ride, then one of my older brother's buddy let me take his "80 Electra glide for a ride. That sealed the deal right there.
this bike has ALMOST everything you need............. stage 1 that bike with a highflow air and slip on exhaust, then tune it. you will thank me later
when you are on a bike, you know you are on a motorycle.... when you are on a harley you KNOW you are on a harley.
with the nearly infinate amount of parts, and upgrades, there is ZERO reason that you cant keep these bikes until your great grandkids are ready to inherit it. (watch million dollar bogan and watch him DELIBERATELY ABUSE his harley and it still runs like a swiss watch lol)
You know you're on a Harley, cause all you see is tail lights of metrics leaving you behind lol.
Add all those parts so it runs better or you can just buy a Gold Wing.
deplorably yours I dunno, lots of Harley riders look at a Yamaha Raider and say “what Harley is that?” All the Victory baggers have just as good looks as a Hardley-Ableson with way better reliability.
vic vapor nah I’ll ride with anyone, I’ll just wait at the next corner for the Harley to catch up. You Harley guys should actually want us metric guys to ride with you, that way you’ve got someone to bring you home when the Harley breaks down!!!
@vic vapor haha not quite, just willing to help a fellow biker out. Gather you wouldn't. Which is fine, since metrics are actually reliable.
Hi Sean great channel great 🇦🇺 great motorcycle owned one before they're good bike🖐😭
It will break down in a way I cannot repair at the side of the road and I will have to walk home.
Yeah that would be a good and valid excuse not to ride it!

Pushrods. So last century. Can you say Indian Challenger?
This is what you get if you get a car designer to design a motorcycle. Let's put everything on it to try and make it into a car.
The funniest thing ever a vent to let air through the device designed to prevent air hitting you. Priceless.
Green light is blinking on speedo, what is it? Engine light?
cruise control light
Definitely a beautiful bike!!! Now to find away to put 2 big dogs on the bike for a road trip......
My 06 was like this. Been around now for a while
Being a poor man from KY what would be the best motorcycle for me to buy as a year round ride.
Victory cross country. 47 gallons of storage. More horsepower more torque. Better suspension and handling. All and cheaper.
yeah...and truly Fugly too...
What about when it’s too hot? It was 119 in Phoenix yesterday. No way in hell im riding in an oven. Addressed everything except for when it’s sickening hot out.
