    Dropping the exhaust is the proper way to take the transmission fluid pan off, but that is an awfully lot of work for what should be an entry level DYS project. And most people do not have a lift handy further aiding the burden...
    -GMC: Yukon, Yukon XL, Sierra
    -Chevy: Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, Silverado, Avalanche
    -Cadillac: Escalade
    This covers the 2007-2014 GMT900 Platform with a 6L80E / 6L90E, though other transmission optioned models are similar.

    I have a lift, and a transmission jack, but this video helped a bunch. Little sketchy prying that hard, but I got it enough to slip the pan out and back in
