6L80E demonstrated but process is universal for almost any transmission. This is useful when either an aftermarket pain with a drain does not exist or all existing pan options are outrageously expensive. Avoids a $350 aftermarket pan or using a bolt on style which WILL leave like a sieve and keep you from passing state vehicle emissions.
Example used is a 2013 GMC Yukon Xl, but the concept is the same for all vehicles. Just make sure the plug bolt's protrusion does not interfere with the filter position.

Usually I like a copper washer because it can be torqued down. I worry the rubber washer will soften and the bolt will get lose.
