Very detailed oriented. I have to do this today. I need to make sure I get the right radiator for my truck, 2011 avalanche 5.3 with trans and oil cooler. I was wondering if I had to replace the oil cooler as well but thanks to your video, i now know the answer.
Thank you for giving me the confidence to do this job myself.
You're very welcome. You will knock it out the park.
Thank you for posting. You did a great job with the camera showing each part of the job.

Thanks for showing the process with the transmission lines I was thinking I would have to rent a tool to remove it 😂
No problem. Thank you for watching.
most welcome!@@TerenceDIY
Extremely helpful! Thanks big

He sure did remove a good amount of crap out of his way. I just did mine--1st timer---.... I didn't completly remove any parts besides hoses/lines attached to my radiator on my 05 gmc sierra 1500 2wd. Once all hoses were detached.. I lossened the 4 top bolts (radiator fan & radiator bolts) pushed the fan back, (that way I won't have to disconnect the radiator fan circuits underneath))).. & I was able to carefully pull the radiator out & then very carefully drop my new radiator in.. Maybe... I had more space to work with than this guy on the video.. For my truck I sure as heck didn't buy the radiator before starting the job... God almighty... With or without oil cooler? With or w/o Transmission Cooler? Larger width or smaller width... I wasn't in the mood to solve more puzzles... There was too many radiators to choose from Guaranteed to fit my vehicle that are obviously different according to the parts store website.. But I did have a ride to the parts store bagged with a 45 gallon contractor bag once the old radiator was out to contain any small portion of remaining fluid in the old radiator.. I picked the right part, made sure it was a direct match with the old in compared to the new... & didn't leave my local parts store with the wrong part.. I hope my radiator isn't Chinese made... (Carquest from advance auto parts) I hate the Chinese Communist Party with a BURNING passion... Don't you dare miss the pick & hook tool & channel lock groove joint pliers... I prefer to keep the non screw on clamps for hoses if possible... due to lower risk of corrosion & over or under tightening. & Look at those hoses shortly after running hot as long as it's safe... If you see swelling... Time to replace if you choose to re-use them radiator hoses instead of replacing by default.. Mainly those fat B-i hoses linked to your radiator.. I could have had to dupe out between $700-1,200 of money I didn't have on my radiator replacement... instead of doing replacemnet myself..also didn't have time to wait on the only mechanic I trust...I only duped under $400 by doing it myself if I return the hose assortment clamp set & non used antifreeze of Concentrate instead of pre-mixed.. Mix your own antifreeze-Yourelf & get way more money per gallon... Way more money per gallon of expensive antifrreze/engine coolant...I did a full radiator flush myself 3 months ago, so I didn't give a crap about any reused portion of old engine coolant still in the system. Removing & putting in those snap rings the man in the video showed was torment to me twice... but the work is complete .. As a 1st timer with this... I would recommend picking them snap rings out of the new radiator & re-insert several times with a good pick & hook tool this man had already in his tool box.. I lost 1 twice but I still had my old 1's... Don't go with his Guy's radiator either... Those snap rings were way different in my point of view... Those have to be taken out of the new radiator to secure those lines before you re-attach those lines with the snap rings... I only knew that because my radiator was without engine oil cooler & with transmission fluid cooler... & I needed the larger width not the smaller width of radiator... The auto parts store website may say Guaranteed to fit your vehicle but there my be specs You have to know.. Old radiator with me.. Compare the new with the old... = No rolling out of the parts store with the wrong radiator. . I also didn't come back home with my new Radiator w/o 6 gallons of DISTILLED WATER.. would rather have too much than not enough @ $1 & change at Walmart to mix 50/50 with my concentrate antifreeze & have a liquid measuring tool.. I used 6 20oz bottles of empty water bottles.. You get more $$$ per gallon on engine coolant by mixing yourself... Water used for your engine CANNOT contain minerals or Sediments..
That was a good well informative video! Thank you
You're very welcome Kevin. Thank you VERY much for watching my content.
Got my replacement radiator today, 2008 Tahoe LTZ 4x4 w/rear ac. Mine only has the 2 transmission lines that connect to the radiator and not the Oil cooler lines. Thanks for the vid.
You're very welcome. Thank YOU for watching.
Do you mind sharing the part number to your radiator. The one I got has the one with the oil cooler and mine only has the transmission lines
Thanks for the video, and God bless you!
Thank you very much and thanks for watching.
Great Job my brother excellent video.
Thanks Ricky and thank you for watching.
Just did mine last week with the water pump not that bad if a job and I wanted to ask you the e brake dust boot I cannot find one to replace it but my parking is working fine I’m sure it’s been that way since the last owner but I cannot find a replacement
Thank you for a good video
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching.
Great vid
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Good video!! Just did mines on my 07 I noticed the small locking clips does not have to be removed just pop the lines back in it will lock in it self you will hear that click noise
On the new radiator
You are correct. I have done it that way many times. I should have shown that as well. Thanks for watching.
You save me jajaja thanks amazing video
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching.
Great video !!! Appreciate it. Question: How much coolant did you use ? Thank you
You're very welcome. I beleive I used two gallons. Thanks for watching.
@@TerenceDIY awesome!! Thank you
Need a video on the vapor canister and purge valve and vapor canister vent valve this issues is a pain in the ass for ppl who experience this for the first time and wondering why the gas handle keeps clicking off every gallon like they have a full tank
My friend Tahoe is having this issue. I told him I will fix it as soon as I clear up so I will film the process. Thanks for watching.
@@TerenceDIY thank you brother
You're very welcome.
Question for ya are you supposed to put more trans fluid back if so where would it be located
If you did lose enough fluid whereas you think you should add some more, you can check the dipstick level ONLY when the vehicle is running and if it is low, then use a small funnel and add it there. That's where you add trans fluid. The dipstick is located on the passenger side at the rear.
Can I use this radiator on a police Tahoe? I’m trying to order it but I don’t know if the police package makes a difference.
If anything, the police package would come with this exact setup.
My car was equipped with oil cooler lines but my mechanic said it was best to remove it with time he said they get clogged up
I know these vehicles very well and I have worked on MANY. I have never seen the oil cooler lines get clogged. Thanks for watching.
what u think since they been removed now@@TerenceDIY
I am not sure but I wouldn't have NEVER removed them.
Change temp sensor and temp gauge still moves a little when heat is on but when heat is off it stays at 210 I’m really lost if you can help me out I really appreciate it brother
Did you ever connect a code scanner to see if the temperature read matches the gauge? That's very important. I will await your reply.
@@TerenceDIY my code scanner just got here will do that and let you know what it reads
Great! Let me know.
What are the two holes on the driver side of the radiator beneath the upper hose valve
Are you talking about the oil cooler line holes?
@@TerenceDIY nope, two hole screw look things on the driver side
I have 3 lines on the passenger side I know 2 are the trans cooler lines but don’t know what the 3rd line is but I know for a fact I don’t have oil cooler lines . Any idea what the 3rd line is?
What year is your is your truck? Tahoe or a Suburban? Is there anything going to that 3rd line?
@@TerenceDIY 08 Yukon it looks like it’s goin into the condenser
Hey quick question Terence how did the radiator hold up??
Great! Like factory. Thanks for watching!
Do you think prestone coolant is ok to use?
Absolutely. Thanks,
Just curios...I know it took extra time because of filming, but how many hours did this job take to complete?
About two hours and thirty minutes. You are correct, lots of time filming and dealing with camera angles. I could knock this out in about a little over an hour. Thank you very much for watching.
bro this just happened to mine, im doing this on the spot or ill be stuck on the jobsite😭
Aww man! I hate to hear that. I hope you get it fixed.
Hey man, I’m having a problem with my cracked radiator, my question was is the site in the description legit? I’d love it to be true everyone else is charging 200+ for one at the moment. If you can get back at me I’d appreciate it
That's eBay. Argubaly the biggest retail site in the world. If you look at items sold for that radiator, it's in the thousands. I buy 95 percent of my parts from there. Thanks for watching.
@@TerenceDIY Sounds good boss, appreciate it
What size is that intake hose is it 1/4 inner diameter
Which hose in particular?
@@TerenceDIY it’s the small hose in between the two transmission cooler lines and connect to engine block right underneath the throttle it’s the small hose that’s connected together with the top radiator hose in the retainer clip that hooks into the air intake
Here are some dimensions for the hose I'm pretty sure you are talking about that's in the Haynes manual...
End 1 Inside Diameter: 1/4 in
End 1 Outside Diameter: 17/32 in
End 2 Inside Diameter: 9/32 in
End 2 Outside Diameter: 17/32 in
@@TerenceDIY yes sir as I figured thank you so much brother
You're very welcome.
