You should always have both apps on your phone to compare prices every time if you really want to pay cheaper
Apple used to show it built into maps but Lyft pulled out.
Both are the same. both under pay their employees
Employees are paid highly well at both companies. A data scientist with a Ph.D. at Uber makes several million dollars a year. Are you referring to drivers? Because they aren't employees at all. They are contractors. They can quit anytime they like and work whenever they want.

It's pointless to compare prices while they're having a price war. Lyft being the underdog obviously will undercut more than Uber. If Uber was the underdog then they'd be cheaper. The bigger problem is that the two companies form a duopolgy. Once they go IPO in 2019 at which point they will have to prove profitability, there's a good chance that they will form a cartel and start fixing on prices instead of undercutting each other. This is good in that they will compete in other factors such as timeliness, consistency, safety, etc. This may even be good for drivers. But almost certainly this will be bad for riders.
Both apps tell you prices before you confirm, so just check both.
I do appreciate both apps for riding to get somewhere when I can't drive
Currently here in Detroit Michigan Uber is almost 2 1/2 times the price of a lift to go to the same destination furthermore the trip under normal circumstances cost anywhere from $10-$15 this morning Uber wants $44 lyft 15

Uber keeps dropping rates. It's likely already cheaper than Lyft unless Lyft's doing the same.
Lyft by far the better way go don't know about tipping I tip with CASH better for the Driver and I don't use Uber at all I use to to more expensive.
Lyft is cheaper mostly $4 to $5 cheaper and that's with Uber one included

Yeah lyft tip more. Lyft is better moneywise but Uber is more popular.
Genius marketing by lyft and uber.....just like the vending machine comparison......you will never see a coke machine by itself...its always a coke machine and pepsi together.....it becomes of a question of "Coke or Pepsi?" instead of....."Coke or no soda"

We rideshare drivers are only making 75 cents per mile before taxes and expenses.
75 cent per mile and then 25 cent per min for me, and thats fine. Throw in a nice x2 surge and Ill gladly wait in traffic with some one for 50 cent per min.

Not here in Philadelphia at least. Its 25 cents as of today here but I know diffrent location have different rates
Yes, Lyft is usually a bit cheaper :) both are great companies!
And Uber take higher commissions to drivers than Lyft
And...
But be careful when using Lyft I had a bad experience where the driver should have picked me up in front of McDonalds and instead parked across a huge Blvd with gated barriers andf instead of turning around he left and i was charged a $6 cancellation fee. With Lyft it is too easy for them to get away with fees unlike Uber.. Every problem I had with Uber (which were few) like overcharging, was corrected. In the Uber app you can easily find a way to make a complaint and they investigate and tell you right away of a refund, Lyft is harder plus when I initally made a complaint it would say you cant be refunded for a cancellation. So use Lyft sparingly and under certain specific conditions otherwise use Uber.

I needed to pick up my husbands car from his job and I took a Lyft for the first time and I greeted the driver and he was mute 🤐. So I’m disappointed ☹️. Hopefully I’ll never have to take one again .
