Do not attempt to plant an umbrella with top an bottom together, as he just did in the Today Show video. Proper technique: with two hands spike just the bottom half of the umbrella into the sand. Apply pressure downward while moving it back and forth in short increments to get it deep and secure, leaning just slightly toward the wind. Second step, open the umbrella, the top half, into the wind and attach to the bottom half already in the sand.
Very important: close the umbrella when it gets too windy.

Dig a large deep hole with your hands, put umbrella in..fill with sand and use water bucket to compact it..becomes like cement 👍 quick and easy.

they should make them so that the material rips off at a high wind force and it doesn't pull the spike out of the ground. They can keep the material attached solidly to one point of the umbrella body so that you don't have to run after it, but can just reattach it.

This is a very important video. I never knew how dangerous that spears could be.
Going to the beach next week. This could save someone from a major injury.

IDK why people are still using umbrellas that don't have screw bottoms. The best ones come in 2 parts. The bottom part screws deep into the sand, then you lock the top part into the bottom. You can even buy the screw anchor seperately for less than $20.

Another good way to anchor your umbrella down, would be sand or water weights. Since you are on the beach, you will find a lot of sand and water around! We do sell these weights.

My umbrella has the big cork screw at the bottom, i dig a hole about foot an half, barry it pack it down an pot a mountain of sand around it cause it's so big. I fold it down when I'm not around it. If it's windy out keep your eyes open an be safe y'all!

Just don't use an umbrella. If you want to stay out of the sun then stay inside.

You're missing the point. We use the beach umbrella so we can enjoy a day at the beach - you relax in the continual wind of fresh, natural air without the sun burning your skin down _(and with the refreshing sight of the sea and the sound of the waves)._ I don't see how staying indoors can provide the same experience.
