The short answer is: NO. Nothing Uber / Lyft does nowadays is worth it. Do it only if you absolutely have no other options.
UBER rarely gets me a ride to my reservation. So I waste 40 minutes with no pay. After factoring in my down time and the fact I WONT get a trip out of the airport it makes very little financial cents/sense. This new trip bundle they are throwing out now is a way for them to hit both pax with a reservation fee and only have to give 25% of that 2 the driver.

One thing I hate is people who except reservation request and cancel. They will send that trip through UberX to someone like me for example and pay me the regular rate instead of the rate offered for the request. Also, if you except one of these requests after the other Uber driver cancels it and you arrive after the pick up time the customer is angry with you because they think your the one who signed up to pick them up. This is absolutely wrong on Uber's end. I explain to the passenger how it works so they understand and calm down. They should pay the Uber driver the same rate as the request offers because the passenger still pays the same rate for the requested trip.
I've noticed that too! That's really hateful of Uber and I no longer take a reservation if I didn't reserve it!
Uber doesn't care much about the driver sometimes the waiting time can be more than 30min. As if that is not enough, in the majority of cases the driver is far away from the pickup location when he is asked to start driving towards the pickup location. The worst is when the driver has to wait 30min at night in a strange street
I don't do reservations during major events. Being Stuck in Traffic taking someone to F1 here in Austin. Took over two hours in traffic and I lost money. I don't like them

There used to be reservations in my area, and they were pretty good. But now, no reservations ever show up, but Uber will sometimes directly send me that I didn't choose (don't know if someone didn't show up) but those are usually crap rides that are far and don't pay anything. I don't know what's up with that, but I no longer accept them. I did once and got burned. I didn't notice the fare, just that it was a reservation, which were previously great. Although I hadn't scheduled it, I though it would be good. Turned out to be crap, driving 17 miles to the pickup location, then another 20 miles to the destination for a lousy $17. Never again!!

That makes sense, but even with a 75% AR, (and 1% cancelation) I'm still not seeing them anymore. Maybe it's just my area.

Please show your viewers how you average $40/hr full time in today's market.
If you are unable to do so, let's say over a 12 wk. sample size, averaging >$2K/wk.
Then remove your $100K video
Drivers average $17-$22/hr, full time, before expenses in today' market
If you're unable to show a minimum of $40/hr, full time, then you've lost credibility
Uber will put you in trouble sending more requests while you are on the way to pick up your Rider. If you do not accept any of those requests the app will automatically log you off and you will lose your Rider with the reservation. So this is not that good as you're thinking.
I wish you people either learn math or be truthful about how much you actually earn. Your $60 an hour can’t be farther from the truth, Let’s do the math, you have to be ready 40mins prior and let’s say that this particular ride was on the 20% that your message didn’t work for. Then add the 5 minutes that Uber allow the passenger to get in your car (in some cases they come out close to the 5 min and it take them a few minutes to be all set but we are not counting that) and finally the 29 minutes for the ride. The total for that is 74 minutes and you just got paid $29 not $60, so please do the math right and be realistic about it.
With that said, I take reservation rides all the time, sometimes even for 40 minutes later and that usually happens when the driver that had that ride was not online and they passed the ride to me. Another benefit with reservations is that if the passenger doesn’t shows you get pretty much the full pay for the ride, sometimes the ride is $25 and I get $22 vs if it was a ride that wasn’t a reservation I would get like a $4 cancellation fee. With comfort rides, you don’t have to wait the 8 minutes that Uber are giving to the passengers before you cancel, for reservations is 5 minutes for all 3 levels.
The only times I won’t do reservations is if I know there’s good trips happening because Uber will prevent you to get other rides in order for you to be available for your reservation. Last point is that there’s a good amount of these trips that the pick up point is really far away so after you get the trip make sure you do the math to make sure is something that you want to do and you’re not hating it after the fact.

Yeah Jay, the reservation is cool up until Uber starts jiving you with it ,you get a list of reservations you try to pick the ones you want, you pick one and then you go back to the list and half of the list is gone, and it's like they're setting you up to take the ones that they want you to take, next thing is a lot of times you don't get the rides going in the direction of the reservation it happened to me about a week ago I gotta ride going cross town and by the time I dropped off to get back to the reservation it's in the middle of traffic and I can't get there and they're blaming me because I couldn't pick up the rider,it's kind of screwed up, but that's the kind of crap they're doing, I started out liking doing the reservations but now I am not too sure anymore!!!!
It's really funny how Uber and Lyft like to tell us that its a reservation ride with nothing special in rates. I was always like "why is this necessary to know?" lol
During the time you reserve, they are supposed to give you rides close to the destination, but they don't, or they usually don't give you no rides until the reservation, so I don't do them
Sorry Bro but in my market Uber and Lyfts destination filter seems to try to send me in the opposite direction just before the reservation.

Reservations were great a year ago in my market, now they don't have the extra cash, they pay less than normal trips and you still have to jump thru the hoops... I mean like 5 bucks for 20 minutes, 8 miles of driving... Broken in my market
Does Lyft still do a switcheroo if you reserve a reservation ride by sending you other trip request that if you accept them you lose the high paying reservation you waited for
Wow, I didn't know about it, so I looked at it, it said opportunities are coming soon. I haven't driven Uber in a couple years, l resigned from my bus driving job last week and between jobs at the moment. Uber fills that gap. Thanks Joe

Brilliant early notice. Gental pressure 😊. Iused to accept. Seemed like a good gig. However, this EV is a learning curve. The rides too were non existing just hanging for 40 min, then send me to wait up to half hour early. I let em know I've arrived, but they'll take it to just under the cancel time😂. Our airport is a ways out on the Prarie and traffic has become unbearable. Can't just gas up...gotta pursue electrons half the day.

Both of my last reservation rides canceled when I was on my way. I have not figured out how to message the rider or for that matter half the time I am lost trying to call them when I am having a problem with the pickup location. Is there a good tutorial available?

Used to be…not anymore. They cut the rates so low that arranging your morning around them is a waste. The only ones worth while is why you happen upon one while already driving that is close to your current location.
Forgot to mention: I think you're correct on reservations - They are a good deal for the driver and provide much needed higher margin revenue.
What about scheduled ride they send you directly. They jip harder than regular rides
I don’t mind getting to the reservation a little early. It gives me a chance to tidy the car and maybe snack on something.
All my reservations are rides other drivers didnt fulfill. They pay more and by the time i get them its only maybe a 15min wait and its to the airport.
The short reservations are great on Uber but Mostly Useless on Lyft in my market. Lyfts reservations have no Financial Minimum. Ubers Res starts at about $40 for short rides. Forget Long Reservations.
So i have accepted a reservation but it doesnt give me the exact address or just shows me a map that you cant click on, like on 4min20secs thats all i see
Honest I haven’t received a “reservation ride” request since 06/10/23. I called Uber and they said, “wow, that’s strange you should be receiving reservations requests.” I live to an airport and to two cruise terminals. So the demand for reservations rides are there. Uber is back to playing games again! 🤬
Depending on your acceptance and cancelation rates is a huge factor now. Especially if you ever canceled a reservation, they'll throw you at the bottom.
I need to know why people is not tipping is it Uber and Lyft are telling them not to do so or what is going on cause usually they were tipping the drivers.

I disagree about destination mode for my rides in Las Vegas.
Most often I’m given rides AWAY from my reservation, then I Uber pulls it and I lose it!
I take’em, but I have to go to the area of the ride myself.
I have told Uber Support about this, but nothings changed except I don’t get offered as many as I used to.
Uber used to pay the driver 100% of the reservation fee if the passenger was a 'no show'. Now, they take a large chunk of fee away from the driver for 'no shows'.

We never get reservation rides here. in fact they don't even allowed passengers to schedule rides here anymore. But they used to.
Have to disagree about the AI getting you rides toward your pick up.i have received on demand trips that took me in the opposite direction causing to miss the scheduled ride. Was told by Uber that I was the only car in the area. Usually I have to use my lowest used ride preference to make sure I don't get any requests within the 40 minutes we need to be online.
Uber is not paying drivers premium price, uber charges customers premium charge but drivers only get regular fare and waste of 1hr ... NEVER DO RESERVATIONS RESERVATIONS
Ive had some really good reservation rides. My best one came with a destination filter set for home. The pick up was less than a mile away from home. The fare was $25.00 AND he tipped me $10 for less than 10 minutes of driving., it was a 1/2 mile trip and put me right at my front door.
Your discount ride is subsidized be ripping off the driver.
If you cancel after the 5 minutes after pickup time you will get $15 cancelation minus service fee
DONT NOT ACCEPT RESERVATIONS * i noticed you stop getting request 2 hours before pick up time. I tried to sogn off and sign on still nothing. So i canceled my reservation . As soon as i canceled my reservations i started getting requests i mean 5 requests at same time. I been doing that for past 1 week i dont want to wait 2 hrs before reservation and make no money. I cancel trip everyday once i cancel reservation trip .i start receiving reequest .
While I'm writing this I have a reservation at 5 am. I stop getting any ride request starting 3am. I was getting request before 3am. Now I have to wait 2 hrs to make money unless I cancel this reservation..
Uber is extremely very very crafty in regards to reservation trips, in Dallas especially instead of giving you trips towards the reservation, 80% of the time Uber gives trips hours away from the reservation pick up location, so they can take it from you and reassign it to another driver at regular fare

Uber pays less than base fare on long fares that are reservations. Did one yesterday 89 miles $6 tolls xl for $78 thankfully they tipped $10. X fares are generally base rate or sometimes $1 per mile. If to the airport they always tip for xl in my black lincoln navigator. Your not factoring the 40 minutes no fares no magic. ive accepted reservations at 130 am Saturday during bar closing and received zero trips as soon as I cancel the trips rolled in one after another. Awesome? Not in my market. Double ur dreaming alot of money misinformation in my market!!
I've done a few morning reservations when I know I'm going to be out driving the rest of the morning.
Can we just do reservation rides? I would like to do this part time, and this seems like something I would prefer to do instead of the normal rides.

I do a bunch of uber reservation rides paying $35-$60 and they only go less than 10 miles; sometimes even 3 miles. I also don't bother the passenger to leave early. I use the 40 minutes to do 1 or 2 luft rides instead.
A 20 minutes reservation ride usually pays $35 on uber-x. 20 plus 40 minutes is 1 hour. I used the 40 minutes to earn $10-$20 with lyft with rides on the way to the uber reservation pick-up area. I usually average $50-$60 with this method. The reservation passengers usually tip over $10+. Some times I even get up to $75 per hour (online time). I'm in the San Francisco market.
Early in the morning, before traffic rush can be convenient.
$30 for 30mins is horrible, it should be $40 to take the person to the airport for $2 per mile

That is not Premium Price Nooo way! If you Grab and leave it even 40 minutes before or 5 hours, that affects your account under the table. Tips are not yours! After accepting reservations, depending on your market, you will not get a single request, Maybe 1 hour, maybe 5 hours! He was talking about Destination filter technology, which is BS! I can't believe if you do 29K rides and then you are talking about reservations like that, lol.

Drivers gotta realize ur in the power position without you there's nothing but a self sufficient app no humans involved all automated just don't accept rides and they'll see they gotta pay up but if y'all keep accepting crap rides it'll never get fixed

It depends on what platform you are driving, if you're driving uber, I would only do it for airport trips, if you were driving lyft, I can't believe I'm saying this and giving it away, it's the only way to drive lyft, I don't do open dispatch for Lyft they're too f-ing greazy...
Only do open dispatch when I see a trip that makes sense, Lyft will have you driving from Anaheim to downtown LA for $20 bucks to you, that's a big fat hell-no!
Whereas, it's sort of the flip on uber, their open dispatch rides are slightly more tolerable, and I only see this with you with a pinch of salt during this season where they get to get away with setting the prices for the rides in the first place, which we all know they shouldn't be, as it stands, for the two publicly traded rideshare entities, Ubers open dispatch pays a little bit more, but I would not include as a part of actualizing my drive plan goals, drive Ubers reservation rides exclusively.
So, there you have it... this all from the perspective of a driver with almost 5 years tenure and over 11,000 rides between the two platforms.
Not only do they pay great… these passengers almost always tip …and tip well ! 😁

First all... reservations rides now are mostly medical. Also, the only ones WORTH it are the long rides or airport rides. Which...!!! At any time Uber takes it away to give it to another driver.
Did you people NOT read the article where Lyft and Uber both stated they will be moving into rate hopping?
Basically they ping other drivers with lower $$$$ acceptance for the ride. If they take it you lose the ride with no cancelation fee. Thats right!! You could drive to a pickup of $40 and puff gone!

Exactly! He's boasting that $30 for 30mins is worth it, B.S. - - that should be $40 for 20mi at $2 per mile. Our reservations are still over $20 for short rides, but most drivers don't do them until the surge hits. I had a $74 reservation with a $17 surge, it was well worth it then.

Reservations are not new I have been doing them for a long time over a year!!! 21.00 dolllars an hour on average!!! Where are you working at? I make way more than that in Tampa/orlando!!! This video is pointless!!!
Let me give you all a tip forget all that other crap that Uber offers just do ride share and your hourly will average 40 to 50 an hour if your follow the trends in your area of operation!!!

I’ve been following Jay for at least 6 years. I always found his videos very informative.
He is a guy with over 20,000 rides sharing his experience with us, bunch of idiots whom only know how to complain and bit** about our own lives.
In 4yrs doing gig work. 8200 DoorDash. 7,150 Uber. 4,300 Lyft. Over 20K and raising 2 teenagers by myself. I take advantage of any and every opportunity. I’ve made great money on those reservations. They usually tip great. I’m a great driver helps.
WTF planet are you doing Uber on???....Reservation rides DONT pay more than a non reservation ride going to same destination! In my town reservation ride to airport is same price as it is when its not a reservation. Reservation rides only worth taking if they are set for the time you plan to start driving near your starting point.
I’m sorry but if your not in a BUSY market THEN u really wont experience what he is talking abt because 99 percent of my reservations are always double. Sometimes it’s quick reservations like going around the corner and it’s still double or even triple just to go 3 miles for like $39 or more. So, I agree with him, I love doing reservations especially when they back to back working from 4am to abt 9am with a hefty amount already earned. So u must not be in the right area. The reservations I get are also Comfort/Electric + Business and or VIP. My non-reversions are good too but the reservations are great!
