I recommend coloring the beacons to match the resouce it's marking during set up. In this case, white for power, purple for radon, yellow for uranium, and grey for silver.
Got nearly 1 day playtime in the game, this was a daunting thing for me to try and get into. This was literally the best video to help me understand. Thank you!
@@videoharry_ I didn't end up starting the project to be fair! If I recall I needed some upgrades before I could mine millions of ferrite dust with my ship and I've stopped playing since 😂
I tend to use more bases and jump between them with base teleporters (much better travel times). I also include outdoor gardens of planet compatible plants in nice tight rows. I will definitely start with flooring this time around.
Nice job on the video! This is good information for firsttime miners with easy to understand logic. If you'll permit me, I would like to add that if someone wanted to create a farm with the highest yield, they should set the first extractor directly on top of the highest percentage, then each additional extractor on top of the first. This is because a deposit is shaped like a cylinder with the highest efficiency at the center and rising up to 300u above. This means that the 63% at the center is 63% at 300u above that center. If you place the extractor's around the center point, these will have less efficient extraction rates.
I'll do the exact same thing next time I go in the game. Thank you ! This is exactly what I needed to understand. I'm 2 weeks in the game, 100+ hours in my save, and I was looking for things to do.
Great setup, combined that centre approach with a portal and it'll take just the loading time to stock up your entire storage whenever need be. I haven't set down for base building, not sure I even will at some point as I'm still looking for other things to discover but great introduction with lots of useful information (extension to building limits and power line).
You mentioned not wanting to check on the farm frequently. So if you go with the 1280 per hour production on the Radon, for example, and only want to check the farm once per day - or every other day - just add more supply depots to hold whatever will be produced between visits, and then sell off the multiple stacks of resources whenever you check on the farm. Let's say I'm lazy and will only check in every other day. That will be about 61,440 Radon per visit. That means you need a LOT of supply depots, but we don't care about it being pretty so just stack them up...
I usually have de main Depot cluster around the extractor (which is usually far away) and then I wire a single one inside my base, this way I'm extra lazy and I get all the ore/gas from home
I've been put off on the mining subsection of base building since haven't been able to connect the extractors/resource silos to a medium/large refinery.
The "phantom connection" of your storage to the network is because the end of a wire, or a supply pipe has a raius of connection, i cant recall if its 3m or 5, its about the size of a storage module extractor thingy This is why Glitch building mining is so nice, just 1 or 2 items neatly stacked (but maybe 20 stacked oover the top of one another) plus you only need 1 wire, 1 pipe to connect them, because yes EACH wire and pipe counts towards your build limit, which means a build like this uses twice as many of your count than you think I actually came to watch this because i thought you were building something that "looked" like a cool mining outpost, and wondered if it would be functional too Kept watching to see if i learned anything :)
Wait a minute. If I'm understanding this correctly I do not have to connect each individual to the pipeline? I'm gonna have to go and try this out. Thank you!
I did something similar with my resource bases, with putting the silos within reach when I arrive, but instead of a landing pad they're just outside the door to of a large prefab which houses a teleporter in it. I also put the chemical abv. of each mineral found at the base in the base name.
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to make it. I would love a video explaining diminishing returns and giving the most efficient set ups available. 💪🏻👌🏻

It definitely not clear but the best way to build minig is actually vertically, same with magnetic electricity. You see, hotspots are actually vertical columns, yield will fall the farther you go horizontally, but will stay the same if you go vertically.
Great video! I'm still a tiny bit confused as to how to expand the base i think but there's plenty of great videos out there on that, so no big deal. Thanks for the ideas!!👍
Is there any way to predict what elements a mineral base setup and gas base setup will produce? Is it 100% random or based upon which elements are listed in planet scans? What are the most profitable minerals and gases to mine in NMS?
The elements are easy enough, you can see them when you scan a planet, but they are not limited to those. Activated Indium is the most valuable. Gases aren't great so don't look to make a fortune off those. Oxygen is the best one to get, but because its value is in how useful it is.
I was going to use that wiring trick to set up a local teleporter on the planet surface up to a skybase, but sadly, the teleport cables can't be chained the same way.
Overall a decent guide. A couple things are a little off, but nothing crucial. I recommend using metal floors. They make a nice grid to place your machines.

I don't think I've got the coords for this one, this is an Exotic Ship. They can appear almost anywhere, but you'll have the best shot of coming across one in a 3 star system with low conflict. Check the space station and then check out a large trading post on the planet's surface. It can take seconds for one to show up or it can take a long time (I've waited for upwards to an hour at times). Once you see an Exotic you'll know what shows up in that system. It won't change. Good luck hunting, it's time consuming but rewarding!

Sometimes the simplest answers are easily overlooked. Good point, a terminal won't tank the local economy, will it? Can't remember.
