Hey Shane! Happy 2024!! I appreciate your videos! Keep them coming! I bought myself a 2005 tdv6 HSE with 200k on the clock. Made all preventive maintenance using your videos as a guide! 40k+ on the road and the Disco still feels like new 🏋🏻🏋🏻🏋🏻 Thx! 🙏🏻
Mines cracked too. 🤦🏻 i am thinking of trying to remove the drivers side engine mount and crossmember to lower the transmission and tilt the engine too. Apparently this is a way of getting it out with out body off. Failing that I will be forced to remove the transmission which I have never done before. Allthough I did replace the engine body on so I know how painful it is removing all the bell housing bolts and then getting it back on again. I will be keen to see what you do next.
@@Shanes_Shed I feel you mate. They are a pain in the butt. Then you hit a purple patch and nothing goes wrong for 30,000kms and you think. How good is it. 😂
We’ve just had this happen in our discovery 4. Noticed a whooshing sound on acceleration and lots of soot down the side of the turbo (155k miles) Garage says it’s a body off job. I’m selling to someone who has time / access to a lift or looking for a replacement engine. When my three young children are grown up, when I can pay for a cleaner to clean my house and a gardener to manage the lawn, hedges and trees, and chop wood etc, when I’ve painted and decorated the house to my wife’s satisfaction,, I may well have the time and money to play with Land Rovers again, but at the moment I just haven’t got the time, or the tools to fix, or pay my local guy to fix (his wife has several horses which I’m sure we’ve been subsidising 😂). Great cars, bloody complicated engines and body off limit the DIYer in what he can do. I reckon we’ve foregone some good family holidays forking out repairs on the Disco. Probably not a good use of money but when you’re wafting down the road you do feel like a king! Where to go from here? Suggestions welcome. Did you bother fixing yours or throw in the towel?
Attempted to fix mine body on, but rounded the bit on the easiest to access bolt so decided it wasn’t worth pursuing any further - I was planning on selling it after the fix anyway so the cost of paying someone to do a body off repair just wasn’t economical viable. I don’t have a lift and just don’t have the spare time to do it somewhere else. Awesome vehicles when they are running. I brought an older GQ patrol but considering a 150 prado as a replacement
I think we were in the exactl same space. If I had a two post lift and no children / was retired then I’d relish this kind of tinkering, but right at the moment it’s too much! Best of luck with the Toyota!
@@Himoutdoors I need a whole new shed for a hoist as the current one has no roof clearance, plus the concrete slab won’t be up for it. I suspect a Toyota won’t be a good idea for content creation🤔
@@Shanes_Shed I’m not sure what Toyota channels are about….food….cleaning products…. Certainly not about engineering 😂 best of luck mate. You’ll find something you can get your teeth into!
id like to tear it all down and build something bigger. I had to rewatch the video so see what you where refering to and i think i spotted it. its actually a poly sheet with a tiny clear spot where the sun is shining through. What i actually need to do is clear the roof of leaf litter!

Your welcome, but the Disco videos will slow down shortly…

I’m not looking forward to it, likely to be my last video on the disco

Yeah the constant issues are starting to get to me

@@Shanes_Shed build a new shed and fit a two post lift, I have a big shed, 12x7x3 but cant justify the lift.
@@PeterOZ61 would love to but not going to happen for a while yet
