Well said. GAP has always offered the ultimate solution but they only focus on JLR products. Other tools are more for the the DIYer and then the top costing for the bigger workshops. I sometimes get the impression that people think the diagnostic tool will repair the car but that’s way far from reality. They just guide you in a certain direction and you need to fault find yourself. I watch South Main Auto and this also guides and gives you an understanding of diagnostics. Juan South Africa Johannesburg.

A scan tool is an essential tool for any modern vehicle, without it you just shooting in the dark for some faults. I few years ago I was working in a job assessing live haul truck faults - engines where all Cummins and they had awesome manuals with each fault code having a minimum 1 page guide on what causes the fault code and fault finding testing to be done. It would have really made the job easier for the techs fixing stuff in the field

The GAP is only VIN locked when it comes to making changes. You can scan for codes and clear them on any covered LR model.

Practically what I said in the video

Audio was not that clear, and I skipped through some of the videos, so I missed that.

Awesome comparison, I never knew they could test interior lights etc, learn something new! Yeah I did have a fox one somewhere also like the other guys, not sure what happened to it (loaned it but never came back) but rarely would it work on various vehicles!

Interior lights was probably not the best choice of words, more accurate description would have been dash lights. You can send a signal to turn on what ever dash light you like so its good for fault finding faulty circuits or bulbs etc...

@Shanes_Shed that's pretty awesome never knew that was possible 👌

I got a not so cheap kinchrome one as well which is kinda useless

Ive got a foxwell nt510 but pretty sure it doesn't control much and won't reset service interval or battery.

Is it able to access all the modules?

@Shanes_Shed just not sure. It's pretty clunky to use and takes me a few minutes to stumble across stuff. I get live values and i think 2 charts. Handy to see the temp and pressure of the compressor and if the valves are being asked to open. Can't do things like activate a fan or interior lights. Can't adjust the idle speed. No trim values of the injectors.
I did manage a deflation of the suspension though and it will (i think) put it into tight tolerances mode (still not sure what that is).
There is a brake bleed function but haven't tried it to see if it works.

Brake bleed function is fairly useless unless changing out the ABS module. When I first got my GAP unit I hoped you could just activate it and it would pump brake fluid through but it didnt do that at all. Tight tolerance mode just takes the standard suspension tolerance of +/-20mm to +/-3mm. Good for alignments if the shop knows how to do it right

Do you know if the launch can disable the EGR system if you want to delete it ?

No it can’t as that would require a patch to be flashed to the ECU. Gap tool for that task I’m afraid
