- This took way too long. Anyway, Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is finally out and so is my review! announced in a Nintendo Direct back in September. Return to Dreamland deluxe closes off the 30th anniversary of Kirby by returning to one of his best games. With new modes like Merry Magoland and Magolor's Epilogue and new abilities like Mecha and Sand Kirby. Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is looking to be a wonderful time. But how does it fair with its controversial outlines and full price tag?

I personally find the outlines to be charming. It reminds me of that cancelled prototype of Return to Dreamland where it looked like a pop-up book.
i love the new outlines tbh. gives it a great style and makes every detail stand out more so I can pay more attention and find kirby when I loose him occasionaly lol.

3:20 Hal actually talked about this on their blog and they mentioned that one of their biggest regrets in Kirby Star Allies was making the character models blend into the background. Some people couldn't tell where they were going sometimes.
So in the end, not only was it a stylish choice, but it helps players with depth perception figure out where Kirby is.

@@Chinarider1972 Cause Hal themselves even confirmed that it's a direct reference to it ?? Even if the game was incomplete it was still special to them cause without those concepts, we would never have return to dreamland as a game. Ever.

1:45 Do note that the whole "betrayal" thing only happened twice - Marx and Magolor. If Kirby wasn't willing to lend a hand to strangers, Ribbon would never have been brought back home, Ripple Star would still be infested with Dark Matter, and Kirby would have been unable to beat Zero due to not having collected the Love-Love Stick.
3:50 I personally dislike that mod, as it makes the models look too... soft? They blend _too much_ with the background in my opinion.
10:34 The enemy layout in EX Mode is actually changed in Deluxe! This is notable because it didn't happen in the original.
The outlines were actually added for your exact reason against the mod, the devs at HAL added the outlines to make the characters pop out more, and personally I like it too, it gives the game a bit of an aesthetic personality
One of the reasons why I think Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe is it gives Magolor more to do in the story. There’s a mode called “helper Magolor” where if you have that on, Magolor will help you. He’ll give Kirby a copy ability to help him in the Boss fights, he’ll save Kirby from falling to his death, he’ll give Kirby food in the goal game, and at the beginning of the game, he’ll give Kirby a double healthbar. A problem I had with the original game is that it didn’t really give Magolor anything to do. He’s supposed to be a twist villain and the main antagonist of this game, and yet he doesn’t really do anything until the end. However, the remake gives him a bigger role to play and it helps him have an impact on the story.

He also joins in on the festival dance with 3 different things he can do before the end, play a tambourine, play a trumpet, or throw confetti

Also, if you turn on HM (helper Magolor) while inside the Lor where he is, he won't be in front of the keyboard while the animation plays and there'll be a teleport icon when it puts him back. He also won't be there during the festival dance and will spawn back when the dance is over. I dont think I explained it that well, so if this is confusing, go to the Lor where Magolor is and turn HM on, then use festival dance where he is while HM is one and you'll see.

@@HonchoV1 If you didn't knew before, Kirby has a brother/sister who's the second player and it's name is Keeby. Originally from Kirby's Dream Course. How it appeared on the title screen?
@@ViorbyX In RTDL Deluxe, Kirby can start appearing as the player 2-4 colors I believe after you get certain amounts of completion.
You need to beat extra mode and Magolor epilogue to get the true arena
Oh, didn't know that beating the epilogue was also a requirement.
The true arena gets even crazier if you do it after the Magolor Epilogue.

In all seriousness, I was GREATLY satisfied with RtDLDX, easily the series’ best remake. I love thick black outlines in my animation (it’s why I think AoT’s early seasons look more distinct and better than later ones), and the game looks even more gorgeous than before to me (although the mod ALSO looks really good). It’s got a TON of content as a package and the new abilities, challenge stages, and game modes were a blast the whole way through, ESPECIALLY the upgrade and combo systems in M.E. (and I’ve sunk way too much time into Merry Magoland, even after I did all 120 Missions). And the new music tracks are absolute bangers as always!
Also, the reason they brought back Festival is because of the 30th anniversary-the ability was created tor Star Allies to celebrate the 25th anniversary, so I have a feeling we’ll be seeing it in more anniversary related projects.

I just don't understand why Star allies and Forgotten land is running at 30 on gameplay?(Except the main menu (Star Allies) and level selection (Forgotten land))
Star Allies has trouble running at 60 because of how much stuff is sometimes thrown onto the screen.(The Three Magesisters-fight in update 3 even causes problems on 30)
No idea about Forgotten Land tho, or Super Kirby Clash for that matter. They just seem to be on 30 for the lolz.

I.....think that this is an amazing remake, really I do, its a remake of one of my all time favorite video games, but there's one INCY BITTSY thing that I hate..........
THE FUCKING SAMURIA KIRBY 100 ONLINE CHALLANGE! Like uuuuuuggggghhhhhhhh the number of times that I second place way too fucking much is just ridicules, and the fact just today that its a ONCE PURE day thing makes this all the more frustrating and just.... ARRRGH FUCK THIS MINI GAME!!!!!!!!
I am so sorry about that outburst, I do LOVE this game, but for someone who wants to 100% this masterpiece, this minigame is an utter nightmare, so please, PLEASE tell me if there's a way to make it so that you DON'T have to wait every 24 hours just to play this Online, PLEASE because this minigame is driving me crazy!
