last week I played at a local electronic music night and one of the other musicians had one of these, I was geeking out because I'd never seen one IRL before, and the guy who went on before me had a really cool Eurorack set up (again I'd also never seen one of those IRL) was trying so hard not to be a total dork about it!

Great update! 👍 A auto volume normalisation for all samples/ banks would be nice. I often have different volumes in my samples..maybe that is possible.

Pre-ordered mine back in November, still no word on when it’s gonna come. That’s alright because I’d rather wait for the updates, plus I got other new gear to get familiar with, like the JD-08 & JX-08. Was planning to use them both with the MKII. Glad to see they have an update already to make the workflow better. I’m gonna be using the SP404 for non conventional style music. Meaning not the genre most folks use it for. Not that I won’t craft Lo Fi downtempo trip hop style grooves, but I got some ideas to push this thing to unknown territories. Can’t wait. Thanks for the info!

Just picked up a Keystep Pro to be the center price of my home studio so I guess it’s good to wait anyways. Is it every thing you wanted it to be? Like are you getting familiar and inspired? I never owned an SP before so it will be very new to me.
Shit! I had no idea you can preview the samples on SD card when you wanna import. This changes so much!

Yea tbh its too late to reasonably back-order now, i bought it exactly 4 months ago and at that point it had been like 6 mo ths since i started making beats but my ableton trial ran out 3 weeks ago so now im kinda just sitting here
Andertons said it might arrive for me this month next month or the month after tho so i pray its before school breaks off

Where do we send feature requests for Roland to consider for updates by the way? I’d like to see them integrating an end point for loop in start/end that is independent from the sample end point.
Hey @spvidz, do you know what the "PTN change mode" means? Can be set to "mk2" or "sx". What is the difference?
Yo man. In MK2 mode sample playback will stop when a pattern changes. In SX mode they will continue to play

Is there a shift function or something that would allow me to raise and lower volumes of a pad in a live setting without having to choose the pad and causing it to retrigger?
Not that I'm aware of no. Not without having the pad selected first
@@spvidz would you happen to have a link for compatible controllers? I think incorporating a volume knob for individual pads would be awesome.
Hold Enter (press encoder) + pad to select it without triggering it. Unfortunately, the SP can’t be controlled with an external controller, since it doesn’t respond to CC values

They need the Keyboard mode or Multisample to be part of the sequencer.
My usb c works with my desk top and lap top macs for audio input but my I phone 12 it doesn’t seem to work for me any clue or idea I try trouble shooting with no luck yet.

nice vid, I just updated mine and there appears to be a bug... The fixed velocity "shift + pad 1" doesn't appear to work anymore :(
I've just tried and I'm not having that issue - Its working fine for me. Maybe try updating again?

I hope the next update we can customize the default screen. The big bpm isn't necessary.

It's not an SP if it doesn't have a huge inaccurate BPM on the screen
Besides the effects what's so special about this thing
Aside from FX mainly portability imo. You can take this thing anywhere in your bag with your phone and have a full beat making work station.
It's a pallet. You sample colors onto the pads and paint
I'm just curious I haven't seen one person make one trap beat with this thing.
you can make any type of beat based music on this, its just a sampler and sequencer. Trap could be done easily as can house, jungle, hip-hop...the list is endless!
It’s a much-loved series of machines for boom-bap fans. But you can make trap on anything. The “roll” button is right there. Lol
