  • In this video I walk you through in import area of the SP404 MKII and explain how to export your beats once you have finished making them.
    I've had a lot of questions in the comment areas about this recently so hopefully it makes things a bit more understandable!

    @SPVIDS i have a very particular question: I have samples on project 9 and project 10, and these samples have really fine tuned start/end points and loop markers that I need to preserve - is there any way to move samples and keep their time/pitch/loop settings when moving them? when i export i only get the raw wav and i need the sample as it plays in the current project, not just the raw audio i started with
    Hope you can help! thanks for your contributions

      I don't believe you can do that unless you resample them before exporting. You might want to check the app though that might be able to do it. I don't really use the app so not sure myself!

    Just got my SP-403 Mk2 and I’m super excited to learn. The problem I’m having right now is when I put sample packs on my SD card It’s not showing up on my SP when I put it the device , even after the card has been formatted. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a certain way you have to set it up the SD card for the SP to read it?

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s odd. You definitely putting them in the right folder? You shouldn’t have to do anything accept format the card and then dump them in the ‘Import’ folder

  • @alanpfeiffer26
    @alanpfeiffer26 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What would be an aproach to have cards with differents projects? In the sx i have cards for beatmaking, others for live sets, but on the mkii i havent figure it out, as the projects are in the internal memory and there are only 16. I t will be nice to have a video about project management on the mkii.

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its a good point - this set-up isn't as good for multiple card workflows. The SD card is now more of just an 'external hard-drive' for importing/exporting. Basically for different set-ups you are going to have to do a lot of exporting/importing to get things set up!

    • @alanpfeiffer26
      @alanpfeiffer26 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spvidz and is there a way to do a full backup load for all the projects on the 16 pads? So if i am in a live set situation could just add the card and load everything instead of project by projects that is so time consuming. It have been so dificult to stay organized in the mkii for me, as i used to just change cards with tags. Now i have to test project by project to remember what i was working on each pad.

    I noticed that when you export a project, there is a "PTRN' folder with .BIN files of your patterns, and a "SMPL" folder with .SMP files of your samples. .SMP is a Reason NN19 Sampler Patch file. I happen to own Reason 12, so I open it in Reason and alls I get is "bad patch or corrupt" message. I'm thinking it's not actually meant to be opened in Reason's sampler. Too bad, that would have been a real boon for 404 owners who use Reason at least. All 5 of us. 😅 Weird.

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yes but that sounds like adding extra steps to me. Wouldn't it be better to just resample your pattern chain to a pad and then grab the wav off your SD card, or if you are a resampler, resample your full beat down to one pad and export that wav to the SD? Its all personal preference obviously but you don't particularly need another device to have a finished recording

    Hi man! I have some questions 'bout sp404(mk1) and mpc's.
    What's the difference in sound between those 2 types of samplers?
    I have sp404a, and thinking about buying some mpc, but mpc 2000xl is too pricy for me, so I'm thinking 'bout buying the mpc 1000. And if there is a big difference, then which is the best budget mpc (not talking about new ones, like mpc one, live II and X)? And is there any difference in sound between mpc 1000 and 2000xl? Thank you so much!

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've not owned a 1000 so hard to say but with older MPCs it is a completely different workflow. You work on a pattern pretty much permanently and there are a whole bunch of limitations, pros and cons that would take me too long to write. I would recommend just browsing youtube and forums and seeing what you can find out because there is a lot to know about mpcs compared to the SPs they are much different devices.

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on how you make your beats but for example, if you build sequences and then 'chain' them in the order you want, you can now 'resample' that down to one pad so you would have your full track as one wav file. Thats the quickest and easiest way to get a full beat made with sequences off the device other than directly recording it into your DAW I guess
