I just subscribed. I bought a 2024 last February. It was built 12/23. SR5 TRD Offroad. I'm about your age. We grew up with 150 hp Berlinetta Camaros and 225 hp Trans Ams. These high torque and high horsepower Gen3 Tundras would have gotten us into so much trouble back in the day.
One of my closest friends, his 2024 with only a couple thousand miles is sitting st the dealer with a spun bearing. It's been almost a month and they still aren't sure what they're going to do. He says the window also makes wind noise on the freeway and the console has a rattle. He wants a new truck, he thinks his is a bad one. I don't know what to tell him so I just listen. Maybe he should get a lawyer or maybe that's an over reaction. I don't know. I'm watching these videos to see what others think.
…..and 2024 as well. 22,23 and 24’s with forever loose their value. Heard recently many dealers are not accepting new Tundras as a trade in. What a mess.
Toyota is likely currently analyzing their parts availability and the cost of the repair. While the cheap parts route may be to replace the short block, the time it might take a dealer to do the work and pay them may be more expensive then just swapping the entire engine as that would be quicker...either way the trucks value is trashed sadly. People on a lease are safe. Those who bought will have to eat that cost. I think long term though just likely anything people will forget about this and move on and the trucks value will stabilize but will take many years.
Dealers don’t want them in trade..bottom end under engineered…review between ford 2.7 bottom end vs Tundra..Toyota not stout In the girdle holding the bearing and crank
That old Toyota truck reliability is GONE! this issue is not restricted to the 22-23 models, we are seeing reports of the same issues in 24s. Another issue is they have to pull the cab OFF to replace the engine, I would not even consider buying a truck that the dealer has completely disassembled to replace the engine, I don't trust dealers to change the oil, just imagine what they can screw up when removing and replacing the truck cab, so much for Toyota!
They won't put in the 5.7 because they are no longer in production and parts suppliers are not either. Toyota will just rely on hopes and prayers that in time everybody's warranty runs out.
Just replace the whole engine it’s cheaper also do you really think when they rebuild all the bolts are going back the answer is no its going to be very scary
This is the make it or break the Toyota co no one will buy Toyota’s no more make the right decisions Toyota we feel like we we’re taking advantage of spent. I spent 82,000 on a Toyota tundra platinum with the extended warranty thank God I got the extended warranty for 10 years for 100,000 miles but Toyota you need to make this right right now everybody that trucks are broken or they lostconfidence in their trucks you need to make this right because nobody will buy your truck s 👮🏾👮🏼♀️🧑✈️🇺🇸👮🏼♂️no more if you don’t
There looking for a way to fix the engine the cheapest and best way. Most likely if there's no damage replace bearings and crank. If the engine has damage a short block. I am a master Toyota tech but left Toyota for a year now
🤣I bought my first and last Toyota truck brand new in '88, biggest piece of crap I ever owned. I sold it with 6,000 miles after it literally fell apart on the freeway, twice! First the driveline fell off, then the rear axle broke then the rear end blew up and rear brakes disassembled themselves and my right rear wheel broke off, this was at 600 miles with nothing in the bed, no load, first brand new truck I ever bought, I put a camper shell on it and it would barely do 55 on flat ground into the wind.🤣 I actually thought about buying the new tacoma, not after this,
Oh really....leased a 2018 Tacoma crew cab with the V-6. The engine would mis-fire from the time drove it off the lot. Transmission would shudder on downshifts to the point it felt like the brake rotors were warped. The only thing my Toyota service advisor cared about was getting the POS back to me as quickly as possible.

If the Design Is BAD They Cant Replace The engine ! PERIOD ! Company Has Made Horrible Decisions As of Late !

They did not recall the 24s , cuz that means a stop sale on the new ones will destroy them

Hot mess

I've heard about this, maybe I should have stuck with a SUV lol.

Yeah if thats fix.......Thats a rap. They might as well stop the sale of them and take a break for a year to get this worked out.
If, you have a turbo in your engine it will break down.
I hope it last for 5 years lol.

Turbo breakdown has been known since 1980s
I would hope the turbos longevity would improve from what they were in the 80's

What up, Unc! At least it's Toyota. You can feel confident they'll get it straight. 👍
PS, when are you going to do a video on the Raptor? 👀
haha soon
Now is the time to buy a new tundra. Buy in the dip. These trucks are gonna be rare af.
Regardless Toyota will take care of the issue!
