I appreciate the nitty gritty discussion of the buildmaking struggle! It does make me feel better when I lose incessantly with unfamiliar setups. Idk why but I find it takes me a long time to adjust to new things in ER! For what it’s worth I think you ended up with a really fun build 😁
Also the “may god help us” at the very end made me actually laugh out loud, 10/10 captured the feeling perfectly!! For now I’m excited for the madness of the DLC - may chaos take the world etc etc - but it will truly be a wonder if the game gets reigned in after Pandora’s Box is opened on 6/21 😂
@@Felicificitywe are in for a wild ride with the dlc that’s for sure 😅 can’t say I’m not a little nervous to see how busted some things will be but also excited
Worst thing about guard counters is that they're preceded by the loudest *DANGER INCOMING* buzzer of all time. The speed is in a good place now but they're still useless because nobody with a functioning brain will ever fall for it.
I’ll never understand why guard counters are so damn loud, but someone can moonveil me in the back or use the stupid gransax spear weapon art and I barely hear it 😂
I KNOW. Its conditioning to dodge which I kind of understand from a PVE perspective, but PvP has proven that Guard Counters are not a problem to deal with, so just take away the stupid ding or at least make it more faint.
I go through this struggle every time I make a build. It takes multiple revisions to every build I make to iron out the kinks. Usually that involves me kidding myself that my survivability is adequate at 26% negations is fine at meta then finding out it isn't, or thinking I can get away without crimson bubble tear this time and use a shrouding tear... I also used to put complicated, build specific weapon layouts that I never learned before making a new build. Now I have the same weapon layout with the same sorts of weapons in the same places that I use on every build so adjusting is easier. I use basically the same tali layout for everything too. It helps.
It's a process. It's always a process. It will eventually work though, even if you lean on some tried and true things you can still wrap a new idea around that.
For me, I feel like as I’ve invaded more the best thing that’s happened is I don’t feel just anxious and down right jittery. As if it’s something that really really matters. So it takes less mental energy to invade now
Thank you for reminding me of those stupid twin UGS from the Ringed City, I don't think I ever learned how to deal with those swords Also look I know this is a guardcounter build but the absolute gall to guardcounter a greathammer with the hand axe is absurd, that shouldn't work but that's such an insane flex that it worked
It's cause the hit box on that UGS weapon art was 10 feet wide! (felt like) Getting that GC to work on the handaxe was the whole original idea behind the "uncanny woodsman" and it's hilariously fun to do. No one expects the guard counter to a big bonk from a tiny weapon
Awesome video! I love the build tinkering. It's like model building, you tinker around with it until it's exactly how you want it, and then you put it up on the shelf and don't touch it again. What a great way to make sure none of the builds get stale. Great explanation on the thought process behind each of the aspects of it as well. I'm very excited to see what you get up to with them and how ridiculous dealing with those perfume bottles is going to be
It's cool cause the builds are always fresh, but I think I want to push myself in the future to play some of them more often. I spend a lot of time on these, and it would be nice to enjoy them again if I can force myself to do it lol. When the build videos start flowing from all the creators doing invasions in the DLC it's going to be heaven 😱
@@RENDAN_iel Hell yeah, I've been doing some lvl 40 invasions leading up to the DLC for a different character. And now I'm interested to see if the landscape for low level invasions is going to change much. Are people going to try to be in the land of shadows and invadeable at lvl 40-64? Or am I just going to be seeing a bunch of twinked out characters with dlc equipment out in Stormveil - Caria manor and such?
@@RENDAN_iel haha yeah probably. I got my 4th talisman slot and I just beat Redahn with my lvl 40. I'm trying to see how far through the game I can get with a lvl 40 with +5/+2 weapons to keep that incredible 36-64 up to +8 standard weapon invasion range
Yeah I’ll make a build that kills and the I get quickly bored and make another, but when it doesn’t measure up to what I had previously I’m frustrated. It’s really fun making new builds but they often lose my interest. Having several builds at varying levels has helped me keep a few stable builds while I tweak others.
The different levels are also nice because they give you an out if you are just NOT HAVING FUN at a particular range. Can always come back to it later.
I like what you said about not getting discouraged when your build doesn't work out at first. That's how I felt about the cleanrot knight build I made but I didn't give it up and eventually made a whole cosplay video for it 😂
Cleanrot knight is actually really fun, and both the spear and the scythe are a little niche but can be good. It's hard to land the ash of war on the cleanrot spear but if you do it can true combo into incantations like Wrath of Gold (which is awesome).
Great video 🎉Sticking to a build until making it is the goal! My rings build have been in limbo and rearrangements for ever haha, it only worked out in 1.10
Also the Perfume weapons COULD be parryable with the use of Storm Wall. I highly doubt they’d be so gracious as to actually give that Weapon Art of use, but it seems feasible to implement.
Alot of it is aggressivity, that and mixing it up with the two handed/one handed move set. That one handed running R2 really opens the playstyle up more than you think.
I forgot to link it. I wanted something haunting and fantasyish, and this was what I thought of lol. th-cam.com/video/UkmxaDQCvhI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2EXMMYhVvH44E-aY
I want to gaurd counters but certain patches ruined it for me. Like the shield nerf patch and just the fucking sound queue added in after beta to main game
I have no idea I just know that great axes have amazing heavy attacks. The follow up heavy attack if you fully charge it can poise through so many attacks
And I also figured out that regular heavy attacks and running heavy attacks with great axes can poise through the start up of stormcaller and the thunderstorm axe, you can safely do a heavy attack and dodge out, you’ll take some damage. But it’s an amazing counter for stormcaller
Neither is this one, and I really did lose for several days before I got it right. Honestly though, may be worth focusing on other invasion ranges. I rarely play Meta and find mid-level and low-level invasions much more manageable (and fun).
@@RENDAN_iel actually I went back to optimize my build + sort my inventory and got way better results. Still lost a lot but a lot of them were relatively avoidable on my part.

@@Felicificity Honestly, 100% I'm terrified and excited at the same time lol.
Having a build that just works always makes me forget what the other side feels like. I think ER has made me create a zen mantra for build making lol.

It's always going to take some mental energy but to have fun you need to disassociate from losses. Ironically, if you do, you'll win more lol.

I'm actually going to try that!
Also thank you for this easy to miss invasion advice
BIG AXE is a criminally underrated build.
It’s an underrated choice with some strengths. Main one being the satisfaction you get from guard counter KO’s with it lol.
That you are hitting any player with a great axe is kind of surprising. Axes and hammers are generally too slow.

1000+ hours in and I've been calling it the LongSHAFT Axe this entire time 😅
Hahaha I kinda like that better 😆

Thank you
Ledo's Greathammer was fun but definitely not one of those broken weapons, should've put Frayed Blade there instead haha
It's different for everyone lol. I am ashamed to admit how many times I got hit by the Ledo's wake up 😅
based AXE chads... I do hope our time is soon!
It may be. There was footage from the demo gameplay that gives me hope ; )
