GREAT KATANA IS ALMOST PERFECT BUT IT HAS ONE MAJOR FLAW | Elden Ring PvP

- Great Katana is in my opinion the best weapon from Elden Ring DLC but it's also bugged which holds it back from being absolute top tier.

The item description for the “oceans of blood” katana mentions that it gets hyperarmour at the cost of receiving extra damage when hit. So I don’t think they’re bugged
That weapon is amazing. It also has a different moveset from the others. It's reversed
The reason that one has hyper armor is in the weapon description. It gets more poise but in trade you have less defenses when trading with people
Still worth, I didn't see any damage increase just by holding it
Might be wrong though
@@victorhugo-rf7pythe debuff applies when you swing the weapon. If you attack and quickly check your stats, you can see your negation drop for a few moments.
@@victorhugo-rf7py You take more counter damage basically. Don't trade with a thrusting attack when using this weapon lol
@@victorhugo-rf7py It lowers your defenses when you swing
The most surprising part is great katanas are more balanced than regular katanas.
I'd argue they're about the same, maybe even a bit better in my opinion. they have a higher skill curve in pvp over something like the nagakiba but have arguably better performance and I love them
There is only one flaw with it, there's only 3 of them
Facts. Favorite new weapon class. Need more
The days of knowing builds by armor are done, the time of solitude meta begins
So we're basically back to Lapp
I would prefer it doesnt have hyper armor, hyper armor resetting poise counting is really obnoxious for small weapons, so im not complaining that gkat actually requires good fundamentals
Bro the abbreviation for the setups is gonna get so retarded and funny lmao
Can you explain?
@@victorhugo-rf7pyif you take enough poise damage but do not poise break and use ash with ha it gives you all your poise back when normally upu'd have to wait for a little bit for it to regen
You still take more Damage with Rakshasa
So it's fine
i think that the weapon type being flawed but still strong is a good thing. every weapon type should be strong but flawed in a way.
There are two talismans I NEED YOU to get and use
LACERATING CROSSED-TREE - Effect
Enhances dash attacks (running attacks. More damage and I think ( I can be wrong about the last part) more range
RETALIATORY CROSSED-TREE - Effect
Enhances attacks executed after rolling or backstepping ( it also activates when crouch attacking every time. This is a 7% or 13% increase )
PSGS talisman? real?
Steel, the two-handed talisman is only for physical damage?
15:11 "ahh yeah bro I really need some gravel stones can you drop?"
Lol. It was me.
It's to have all the things at 999. For the crafting.
FYI GK has less recovery in the offhand, allowing L1s to true combo into a bunch of fast weapons. Its nice for mix ups
And they just patched the thristing sword left hand "bug".
Great game designers lol.
I love how the GK is nod to the Monster Hunter Longsword. 😃
Realy? At least now i know wy the Faint felt so familiar to me: it's the Dodge Strike from MH LS
the last clip is a cinematic masterpiece lmaoo
Yh I was disappointed with overhead stance too. I love the love itself it's so fast, but the fact it doesn't poise break people just trade into it. Kinda weird to be honest because I think that move was used as a stance break in samurai combat I could be wrong tho.
Yeah, that overhead strike is in Sekiro as a high poise move.
@@hunterlg13 right
Something i notice in the "human dragon" boss fight (where you get one of the great katanas) is that if you fight a light weapon and if you trade with the great katana, you can get a true combo into an R1, but that's only if you poise gets broken and if you smash out of hits stun.
I know this because i fought him with shamshir and when we traded the mf did that to me and trust me, it really hurts.
The great katana has no hyperarmor or in general there’s no more hyperarmor? Do other slow weapon types have hyperarmor?
great katanas don't have, except for one where it is stated in description why it has
With GK you have only your innate hyperarmor and it does not get reset by your swings. Other "great" weapons when 2 handed have additional hyperarmor during their swings, and it also refreshes part of your baseline poise on each swing. Its actually quite a big drawback for "heavy" weapon as GK.
The only flaw I care about is the obnoxious sheaths clipping into the ground for 2 of the 3.
Bro it's fucking killing me. My new favorite weapon and it still has the washing pole problem. It doesn't even need a sheathe, there is no "unsheathe" ash of war on it.
At least shift the sheathe up the character's back a little so it doesn't go past their feet. I can't believe no one at From looked at that and thought "Oh, that looks like shit. Let's move it."
Are great katanas parryable?
Honestly this “flaw” makes it perfect in my book. Sure it’s not as strong as it could be, but if it had HA and tier 3 hitstun it could start to feel a bit braindead. In its current state there’s nothing about it that makes me feel bad about using it and that’s why i love it so much. Going to enjoy it while it lasts
plus great katana mirrors feel incredible thanks to no HA
You should use the one the R2 theyre great roll catches
I was under the impression the great katanas are more comparable to great swords. The lack of poise makes more sense that way. I wish they made colossal katanas as well tho.
12:48 not the actual thrust of sword of that kill him but rather the stomp that does the final blow on him (steel fall onto his head)
My broke ass can't afford elden ring dlc rn. But i hope everyone is having fun!
Personally I am! Pretty bummed out that people are having problems with the game being too hard.
@@caliberkat casuals am i right))
Remember that you can give yourself DLC weapons with Cheat Engine even if you don't own it!
@Saloman4ik yeah people complaining forget that Dark Souls 3 exists
@@caliberkatI spent 2.5 hours on Rellana last night, and I fucking loved every minute of that experience learning to parry and shield her at the correct moments, man was it a fuckin rush! I live for this shit!
I’m really enjoying the great katana on strength tbh.
5:06 Goonveil the sequel
Have you tried fire knights ugs , it has a true combo and is so broken
YES DUDE I FUCKING FOUGHT THAT ONE LMAOOO I KEPT GETTING TRUE COMBOD I NEED THAT UGS lmaooo
My only gripe was this dlc nerfed invaders by about 10 to 20 percent and buffed gankers and and added no new pvp functions to the dlc
How did it nerf invaders?
05:00 bro watching a song of ice and fire
The last one is so good. lol
I knew something was wrong when invading i was so confused. I was assuming the weapon had to have hyper armor since its a great weapon.
It doesnt need it
@@abrahamrangel2326 eh I'm on the fence. R1s are too slow but the cr1 and rr1 def don't need hyper armor. I was using the Rakshasas katana and it's clearly the best one due to hyper armor.
It doesnt have it its not a bug the other one explains in the item description why it has hyper armor you take more damage if you get hit during it
Just wait till people start getting the swift slash aow for backhand blades. Its sooo dumb
What that aow? I never heard that in dlc🤔
@user-gt4np5xi5j I won't spoil it but suffice to say it's gonna be a huge problem
It's indeed retarded.
Got spammed to death by it in arena. So much damage, and insanely fast. And covers way to much ground.
hey steel hru
opinion on power stancing these?
I tried it and works fine but a bit sluggish
@@alihorda thanks!
Great Katana 2H deserves to have spEffectId 6360, ignore damagelevel 1 & 8 hitstun, same as Reapers.
I love this weapon it's a stun machine for bosses
it has literally same histun and stagger as greatswords and curved greatswords Oo
Steelovsky can you please make a video on the greatsword of radahn (lord)? The AoW seems way too op and very difficult to dodge.
dang, at 12:48 you literally killed that dude by jumping on him from the platform -- he was at like 1 HP from the two dash/crouch pokes, and you finished him off with the mario bounce.
Should i level above lvl 150 if i want to pvp?
I think level will matter more after the DLC has been out for a while, right now level determines what kind of people you fight. Closer to meta level will get you more competent and varied pvp. Farther out will get you more magic and L2 spam, whereas lower level will probably not have as many DLC areas to invade
Are there any straight swords in the dlc?
A few. very few.
yes and they are all kinda "meh"
Sword of light, probably the best since the ash buffs your holy damage
At least when 1 handed the r1 and running R1 have an r2 roll catch
read your item descriptions
Fun fact: the r1s are just the standard attacks for the Longsword in Monster Hunter
Nah, the longsword hits the ground twice (overhead slashes), then thrusts, then upward slashes.
@@hunterlg13 Rise moveset is *exactly* the same. I have 600 hours in the game, you can look up the comparison yourself if you wanna check.
as bro said, katana's are basically dex collosals. where is the hyper armor on the other two? they need hyper armor. full stop.
80 Arcane and 45 dex, Occult scaling has 742 AR
10:16 that was anime as fuck haha
Powerstance in general was a mistake, and paired weapons should be the norm
How is that working out with BHB?
So what is the major flaw??
no hyperarmor
only one can be infused with arcane 😢😢😢
The 2nd R1 is kinda meh
I prefer to use dex because I am a filthy PVEer
41 likes in 26 minutes steel fell off
First?
Third
Correct
DLC worse than patch 1.09
Nah
8:50 the left and the right brain cell of pvers, both are L2
No weapon is flawed it is the person who wields it except if you make the thing with garbage materials and poor craftsmanship then it's flawed.
