But will that system support a 125 watt GPU? You never know what these proprietary systems have in terms of PCI-e slot power allowance, and you would probably need an adapter to get a gpu molex power plug with the stock psu. I'm not familiar with Acer hands on, so I don't know if they really limit their mobos/bios for upgrades. I would suggest a more powerful but not power hungry graphics card. Maybe an HD 5670? (near 9800 GT performance for half the watts) But that depends on what's available there dirt cheap. Even a GT 220 would be a big upgrade. How much ram can the PC handle? 4 sticks of 1Gb each?
This is basically the same hardware I started PC gaming on. I remember it used to struggle to run even basic games like Counter Strike, Minecraft, Terraria and WoW at 900p. Even more interesting is what you can do with these PCs nowadays in terms of upgrading and expansions. My old setup was from the same era; it served me for more than 10 years until I finally decided it was time to move on. A good old Gigabyte P35DS3R, oc'ed Q6600 and eight gigabytes of RAM paired with at least 750ti or latest 1550ti will easily run any modern game in 1080p, maxed out with totally playable framerates. Not only that, but both streaming and high quality recording will be totally possible (especially if you're going to use nvidia encoders to do all the dirty work). Add a decent SSD and you can really breathe life to those old workstations. This is really possible under a tight budget, especially if you're going to hunt for used components.
You should start using Rainbow Six: Siege as a bench marking tool, it's getting more and more popular and it does have a built-in bench marking tool available.

Not bad, I like these older PCs, they're still semi-usable even to this day. If you want a PC for older games, or just general basic tasks, then these are fine, especially with an SSD and at least 4GB (preferably 8GB) of DDR2. And yes, I remember both the AMD version and this one - and yes, the old £2 PC became the £7 Hazard PC with two PSU's in tandem!

I just noticed 'in the reassembly part of the video - you got a hybrid PC! The window in which hybrid PCs were available was pretty small, I think it was a 2 year period from 2005-2007? By hybrid I mean the HDD had a SATA connector but everything else used PATA connectors, despite clearly having additional SATA ports available on the motherboard.
Back in the day i played Crysis 1 with one of these. I played throw the game several times i remember i was too young to notice any lag ;) Thanks for bringing back memories!
MY good old Core2 Quad (i9300) is running great as a secondary PC with a GTX 550ti 1gb). I use on the side for instant messaging, light gaming, and mostly TH-cam and to watch streams on. I took it apart the other day and cleaned up all the dust inside and now it runs like a champ.
Good video. Please add games that systems could play and are more time specific to era of the comuter & it's parts, like DOOM 3 or F.E.A.R,etc ( I realize the 7500 LE card is a hurtin' video card.)
We know it can handle games like that so I prefer to test some newer benchmarks that other channels might now have. But I may add some more older titles to my testing.
For really low gaming framerates, try correspondence chess. It's a turn based multiplayer strategy game, and each turn is done by sending a physical letter to the other team via snail mail. So at best 1 frame per day!
A year ago it still was my desktop pc... But i had a C2D 6750 and HD4850. Here in mu country (Perú) many people still have these configurations because the're still enough for office and web browsing. Nice vídeo bro, i enjoy your videos 😀
My current computer (because I don't have a lot of money to keep buying new systems) is an HP 2.4Ghz Core-2-Duo with a GT430 graphics card. For what it's worth, I installed a copy of Crysis a couple years ago and while I don't remember what resolution I used, I seem to recall that it ran fine. I didn't measure the FPS, but I didn't notice any choppiness. I only played a little as I had no idea what I was doing with all the different suit modes and always intended to come back to it at a later time, although so far I haven't. I haven't played any recent games, mostly as everything today seems to require online activation, which I find morally objectionable. Emulation-wise, I've been able to run some PS2 games at playable speeds. The two Godzilla games run fine, both God of War games seem perfectly playable, both Katamari games run good and all the Burnout games are playable, although they do run somewhat slower than they should and there's an occasional slowdown. All the PSP games I've tried have run great (assuming they work in the emulator), with only a few games needing slight tweaks to get full speed. Dreamcast emulation also seems to work well, although not every game works in NullDC. I didn't have much luck with Dolphin though. I had to disable the sound to get Gamecube games to play at a decent speed. Finally, I find it kind of sad that you label 1280x800 as low resolution. People used to play DOS games in 640x480 and before that, other systems had even lower resolutions. Gamers today are spoiled. A decade from now you'll see people complaining that a game is crap because it ONLY runs in 4K and not 10K and that it has an unacceptably low framerate of only 90 FPS.
I still use that exact case in a build at my Grandmas, it was the family PC from about 10-12 years ago and I've just upgraded the parts over the years.
It's amazing how far we've come in terms of old hardware being usable. Nowadays, a 10 year old pc such as an optiplex, precision, or hp z series could still be used for medium duty gaming with their i7s and xeons!
Wow I had this exact computer at University. Nuts. Years later, I worked out that the on-board ATI GPU was miles better than the nvidia one in the PCI slot! Why did they even ship with it?
this video helped me as i got a old Compaq pc in a charity shop it said it was empty i looked inside it was all there but thick dust in the cpu fan and on the mother board i done what you done with aftershave to clean the mother bored it worked i got a brush and spun it around in the fan that made all the dust come out it took 30 mins to clean it but after finally paid off i put the pc back together and turned the pc on it had a issue the hard-drive was not connected as the leads were dodge i got my frenid round he repair it and we restarted the pc it cam up with system error cant load system its because of windows 7 has broken on it and lukly my other frenid said they get me a windows 7 for the computer hopefully i can get it to work not bad for £10 this video really helped as that pc was my first second hand pc i got this video is brilliant as you made it sound easy to do it thnkyou for making the video
This is really neat. I once went to a recycling center and got a q6600 with 8800gt, 2 gb ram but not hard disk for free. Guess they had no idea what treasure they had
I’m really curious as to what you do with the PCs when you’re done with them. It would be really cool if you sold them on for 50 quid or so. I would definitely buy one. Or maybe people could send you their old PCs and pay you to fix them up for them and you could still post the video of it. Just an idea, probably wishful thinking.
Haha everything is fun in the vid, the SimCity music, the water on the case and drying is in the back yard. Fun fact: the Acer T180 was my first computer and I still have the case laying around. Keep up the good vids and I will keep you supported on Patreon in the meantime
I once had a Acer computer with a Geforce 7500LE *(I think)*, the framerate problems can be traced back to this gpu. it is absolutely horrible for just about everything I threw at it *(although i had a terrible celeron at the time)*. This GPU somehow managed to have less power than the intergrated GMA950 that came with it. believe me, I played Need for Speed: Underground 2 at a groundbreaking 22 FPS through the whole game at a 640x480. And just a tiny tiny bit of higher settings caused it to plunge the framerate to single digit levels. Absolutely fantastic. 11/10 (great video btw)
I don’t know why but I always love these pc or laptops from that time. old and slow. Mainly just the looks and the os, especially vista for some reason.
Just an FYI, i had an 8800 GTS that ran very well, then after about 3 years, started acting like your 7500LE, i found that there was significant dust build up under the heatsink next to the ram, i'm not sure that this was the issue, but after i cleaned it up it was back to the races, i had a similar issue with a GTX 460, and GTX660TI, all of them were greatly improved with a cleaning, either an overheating of something other than the a sensor-ed part, or a partial short from dust or those solder fingers that grow from solder as it gets old
The framerate in Skyrim was so bad that even the frames from the "fps" are missing!

OK the third time watching this LOL, well never mind it'll still be as good as the last time.
12:04 I like this part with the snow ❄️🙂❄️
SimCity 2000 music!
Not bad, I like these older PCs, they're still semi-usable even to this day. If you want a PC for older games, or just general basic tasks, then these are fine, especially with an SSD and at least 4GB (preferably 8GB) of DDR2.
And yes, I remember both the AMD version and this one - and yes, the old £2 PC became the £7 Hazard PC with two PSU's in tandem!
does that DVD drive still work after you put water over it?😂😂 BTW, great video! love your channel!!!
Tobias van der Voorden: Yes
Budget-Builds Official okay, nice😀
Tobias van der Voorden
You love steam, on trash systems, hahahaha, how do you pay steam, mum does that? Pirate bay Titles?
Come to Amsterdam, even old i5 systems on the streets, trash systems everywhere, nobody needs them, for Free!
I pick them for parts only, restoring ONLY the old systems that need restring, trash = trash!
DVD? why did old people, and still use that, USB was already there, still needing disks hahaha. Old people needed some proof, a disk, a box!
You need to find better channels, how to restore PC that are worth restoring, read more, stop watching promoted items here.
What?
there was this guy that was just randomly hating in a lot of the comments
I just noticed 'in the reassembly part of the video - you got a hybrid PC! The window in which hybrid PCs were available was pretty small, I think it was a 2 year period from 2005-2007? By hybrid I mean the HDD had a SATA connector but everything else used PATA connectors, despite clearly having additional SATA ports available on the motherboard.
I have one from 2004 that has a single PCI-E slot and one sata connector for the HDDA while the floppy, CD drive, and everything else uses PCI or IDE
Fkn sick vid
Back in the day i played Crysis 1 with one of these. I played throw the game several times i remember i was too young to notice any lag ;) Thanks for bringing back memories!
If it has a OEM NVidia card inside, why does it have a ATI sticker on the case?
It uses an ATI Chipset meaning it has an ATI Radeon X200 integrated onto the motherboard.
Budget-Builds Official Would that be better than the Nvidia? :-)
@@johnfrancisdoe1563 yes it is
MY good old Core2 Quad (i9300) is running great as a secondary PC with a GTX 550ti 1gb). I use on the side for instant messaging, light gaming, and mostly TH-cam and to watch streams on. I took it apart the other day and cleaned up all the dust inside and now it runs like a champ.
I'm guessing the graphics card is the main problem here? Cos your 2.4GHz Pentium 4 & Radeon X800 Pro combo could actually run Crysis unlike this
Most likely
@@BudgetBuildsOfficial u got me into pc building :D
I had that exact pc when I was younger, I am on the biggest nostalgia trip rn
Maybe even stuff like Warcraft 3
For really low gaming framerates, try correspondence chess. It's a turn based multiplayer strategy game, and each turn is done by sending a physical letter to the other team via snail mail. So at best 1 frame per day!
for me minecraft wont even run on 640x480 :(
Gintare Kuku
Look up "optifine." I think it'll work 👍
with it about 3 fps and standing still 20 fps
Gintare Kuku What pc do you have? Cuz it must be old
Lil Rose just got a new pc (pubg low 720p 30-60 fps)
"New"
I too like to clean my motherboard with aftershave, and the ladies love it. I use old spice.
You sound like the tts/text to speech voice a bit
Gabe Macphee Lol he does a bit
Yah lol
Love your channel its nice to see what you can game on on a budget because not everyone can afford a 500 to 1000 dollar graphics card, PC etc..
Noice it can play half life 2 that means it's good
Roboguy52 it's a 13 year old game though
Half Life 2 actually came out before this PC was made
RWL2012 but it still looks sexyyyyyyy
A year ago it still was my desktop pc... But i had a C2D 6750 and HD4850. Here in mu country (Perú) many people still have these configurations because the're still enough for office and web browsing. Nice vídeo bro, i enjoy your videos 😀
MY PC CAN’T PLAY MINECRAFT WITH EVERY SETTING SET TO LOW AND AT 480p!!!!!
A decade from now you'll see people complaining that a game is crap because it ONLY runs in 4K and not 10K and that it has an unacceptably low framerate of only 90 FPS.
nooo you watered the DVD drive !
It still works.
Budget-Builds Official omg
Budget-Builds Official say whaat ?
Budget-Builds Official Until it just suddendly stops
It's a good thing they're worthless.
I still use that exact case in a build at my Grandmas, it was the family PC from about 10-12 years ago and I've just upgraded the parts over the years.
Probably plays fortnight 1fpd (frames per decade)
NaN FPS actually.
Because it'll probably be an imaginary number.
CatSay Interesting...
Upgrade the RAM and give it a GT 1030, and BSEL mod the Core 2 Duo and you may be able to hit 30 FPS in Fortnite with this PC.
NJ Sullyalex MAY BE
FreePenguin5000 but price to peformance is unbeatable!
How in the heck weren't notifications enabled for me? O_o
I'm not sure i'd consider Minecraft at 900p and 30fps "playable" lol
How is 30 fps not playable? Its not as good as 60, but you can certainly "play" a game at it.
@@Adventurer32 at 900p? Who is going to subject themselves to that in 2018?
Chidren with really inexpensive PCs? I myself had a really bad PC up until a couple of months ago.
@@braed6202 dude 900p is better than the 768p resolution I play most games at on my i5 dual core and igpu
It's amazing how far we've come in terms of old hardware being usable. Nowadays, a 10 year old pc such as an optiplex, precision, or hp z series could still be used for medium duty gaming with their i7s and xeons!
#notificationsquad like for the note squad
I had the same PC. Bought it from Amsterdam. And now back in Bulgaria I still have it as a sleeper (kinda) with that case, an i3 and a 750ti.
First
yup
Nobody gives a sh*t.
Not really I've seen it twice before it was posted.
It actually has a decent power supply in it those FSP PSU units are pretty damn good honestly
I was jamming out to the Sim City 3000 music!
Wow I had this exact computer at University. Nuts. Years later, I worked out that the on-board ATI GPU was miles better than the nvidia one in the PCI slot! Why did they even ship with it?
This system reminds me of my dad's older PC from 2007,an Acer Aspire micro ATX tower, featuring Windows Vista too, memories...
Check out to see if a 771 to 775 mod will work on this chipset. Decent quad core + GPU upgrade might make this a decent machine.
this video helped me as i got a old Compaq pc in a charity shop it said it was empty i looked inside it was all there but thick dust in the cpu fan and on the mother board i done what you done with aftershave to clean the mother bored it worked i got a brush and spun it around in the fan that made all the dust come out it took 30 mins to clean it but after finally paid off i put the pc back together and turned the pc on it had a issue the hard-drive was not connected as the leads were dodge i got my frenid round he repair it and we restarted the pc it cam up with system error cant load system its because of windows 7 has broken on it and lukly my other frenid said they get me a windows 7 for the computer hopefully i can get it to work not bad for £10 this video really helped as that pc was my first second hand pc i got this video is brilliant as you made it sound easy to do it thnkyou for making the video
Not seen this one for a while. Only tech channel where I watch the videos more than once.
that sick simcity music during the build!
Love it in all your videos its sunny in England, however, weather hasn't been too bad this week. Anyways, great video man!
Cheers man, the weather has been alright.
Haha everything is fun in the vid, the SimCity music, the water on the case and drying is in the back yard. Fun fact: the Acer T180 was my first computer and I still have the case laying around. Keep up the good vids and I will keep you supported on Patreon in the meantime
Cheers man, much appreciated.
who agrees that this channel is the better, more budget obeying, version of Linux Tech Tips
Diggin' the Sim City music :) The nostalgia feel is real.
Wow that SimCity 2K music brings back memories.
Nice touch with the SimCity 2000 music.
I love the simcity 2000 music in the background :D
I still have one of these.
Mine's a relatively high end gamer from the era.
E8400, nV 9600GT, 4GB RAM (was 8 but a stick failed).
Kudos for Sim City backing track...
Cleaning fixed the motherboard! Brilliant!
I don’t know why but I always love these pc or laptops from that time. old and slow. Mainly just the looks and the os, especially vista for some reason.
Sim city 2000 musiccc ❤
Just an FYI, i had an 8800 GTS that ran very well, then after about 3 years, started acting like your 7500LE, i found that there was significant dust build up under the heatsink next to the ram, i'm not sure that this was the issue, but after i cleaned it up it was back to the races, i had a similar issue with a GTX 460, and GTX660TI, all of them were greatly improved with a cleaning, either an overheating of something other than the a sensor-ed part, or a partial short from dust or those solder fingers that grow from solder as it gets old
I came for the budget PC content, I stayed for the Sim City 2000 music. Have a like.
I have no idea what you are talking about but your still entertaining me
The Delboy of PC repairs, love it!
simcity 2000 music ooooooooooh memories!! :D amazing video by the way ;)
Wow the Sim City 2000 soundtrack....talking about unexpected background music.
