+Mental Carnage Unfortunately there is still only one save, but you can expliot Steam Family Sharing and just create new Steam accounts for every new game. It's annoying, but should work.
I finished the game around level 50, so I think that leveling up a class you don't want to play with just to be better at the end is just like working your ass off in a Chinese factory, and save money for later so you can enjoy your life when you're 90 years old. I always get to gran soren as soon as I can, which means around level 10, change my class to whatever I wanna play and stick to it. Remember, there's also new game plus where you can start the game from the level you finished before, so you retain all your stats.
This is so funny to me because, even though all your advice is completely legit and definitely makes the best characters... I literally had no problems at all when I didn't optimize my character. After killing the main dragon and the game shifting, the enemies were much more difficult but I still never died. It was just a shocking level spike. I wasn't prepared. But once I ground it out and leveled up some more, I didn't even notice it anymore. Until Dark Arisen. Again, that was an insane level spike. Your builds, to me, are meant mostly for the DLC. The main game won't give people problems, but the DLC either requires a very high level or a well built character. I went with a high level and eventually I didn't notice the difficult. I went with the magic archer... Something about catching myself on fire, slashing an enemy's throat while I spammed stamina items, and finishing them off with a spin slash ground pound fire pillar (yeah... The names of the moves have been lost to time...) was just too irresistible. And extremely effective... I took down anything solo without any problems. I just had a mage with the weapon buff that would aid me most against my target and that was that... My strength and magic were so high my damage output was amazing. Also, the bow has some great moves. They felt extremely situational, but those situations arose often enough. The staff I never even touched. There was hardly ever a reason to, especially when my pawn was a Sorcerer. Absolutely loved this game. Dragon's Dogma for Xbox One and Dragon's Dogma 2 please! Also, note to other developers. Get on DD's level of large enemy fights. Grabbing onto an enemy, climbing up them, and slashing their eye and having them swat you off... The fights are just so intense and so rewarding. Especially when a dragon starts flying and trying to shake you off. Please follow suit!
Quick tip for all the Mystic Knights, the defense stat is Meaningless when you are sitting behind two great cannons. Who needs protection when the enemy dies almost instantly?
???? The best way to level a Mystic Knight...is to level up as a Mystic Knight. The stat gains you get are maximized for the skills the Mystic Knight has. For instance, Magic Cannon has a 40/60 split where 40% of base strength is dealt and 60% of base magic is dealt. Magic is more important, but strength shouldn't be ignored either. Magic is important for Abyssal Anguish. So having 2 strength per level makes a lot of sense from a skill setup standpoint because 3 magic per level helps the Abyssal Anguish more. In fact, as long as enchanted weapons are used, leveling up as a Mystic Knight is the best for any class from a versatility standpoint as long as you don't mind carrying around a bunch of different elemental weapons to exploit weaknesses.
veteran0121 Ehhhhhhhhh maybe. In my case, I leveled up 5 levels as fighter (for strength), then 5 levels as Mage (for Magick). After reaching level 10, I went 10-50 as Assassin (for strength and stamina) and then 50-100 as Sorcerer (for Magick). Then I went from 100-160 still as Sorcerer and then 160-200 as Assassin. After all that bullshit, I finally switched to Mystic Knight, and I was dealing some God-like damage since my Strength and Magick damage stats were so damn high. The catch is that your health will be at nearly the lowest it could get, but since it’s MK that’s easily fixed with some decent armor. So, it really isn’t that big of a deal. Remember, I was creating a MK build that was made purely for damage. I didn’t take anything else into account, so you might hate this build.
Acuity, Attunement, Clout, Vehemence and articulacy are pretty much the five best augments for a MK. You couple Articulacy with Wyrmking's ring, your spells are 30% faster. Acuity and Attunement is a 30% boost to Magic. And Clout and Vehemence is 30% plus to strength.
I wonder, did you know weapon buff skills affects great cannon's elemental damage? I use fire weapon or holy weapon as most things are weak to those elements, that I find. Fire weapon plus great cannon is great for dealing with flying enemies like harpies, griffons, and cockatrices. I think weapon buffs affect ruinous sigil to, hmm, yeah they do
i went fighter 1-10. assassin 10-40 and 40-100 sorc and mystic knight from there worked out pretty good got great magic and good attack. useing magic sword going pretty good. useing both magic and normal attack skills was one the best builds iv worked with so far
I think I'm being a dumb ass. I'm grinding levels as a sorcerer for those 5 magic points, (fearing not having enough stats at the end of the game) and having no fun with the game. Because Sorcerer is boring af
In every description you should add what type of armor, weapon, stats, and etc you're wearing/using in every video. This will be really helpful and will eliminate any further annoying questions.
For the perfect mystic knight go: mage 1-10; then assassin 10-100; and here it is your choice if you want more magic damage go sorcerer 100-200 that will leave you with about 618 str and 596 magic but with only 3588 Hp. For dragons dogma that is pretty much epic, you will be a god in gransys, but if you play dragons dogma:dark arisen and plan to go to Bitterblack Island 3588hp is not enough. What i did was 1-10 mage, assassin 10-100 and from 100-200 mystic knight. This way i would still win str because sorcerer gives 0 str per level after 100, and mystic knight gives 1, win some magic(1 per level) and win more hp and def than sorcerer, altough it is up to you. And he has more str than most of us because he is playing dragons dogma without the Dark Arisen expansion, meaning that the assassins augments give 70% more str,magic and whatever it gives than us that play Dragons Dogma:Dark Arisen , because in dark arisen instead of giving 70% more, it only gives 20%. Hope i helped, and sorry for any english mistake.

Ugh, I went Fighter, then to Mystic knight with no knowledge of this. Then back to fighter to get the Dogma sword, then back to Mystic Knight. Im at 43 now, and i didn't know all of this.
Those fighter levels will give you some attack and mystic knight will help you with magic defense so it's not all bad. Myself I went fighter first 10 then Warrior. I was playing as Mystic knight when I learned about the stat gains. Might go Assassin for a bit to balance it out.
Nice video. I'm a beginning Dragon's Dogma player and after having rushed through the story and getting to level 30 on a fighter I wanted to play something different. The Mystic Knight caught my eye, but I was really wondering on how to build up my character. This has helped a lot - though I think I'll go Strider to 10, and just go with Mystic Knight from that point on to get a really balanced character in terms of stats. Subscribed, by the way!
I swear by: 1-10 : Fighter (better health than other basics) 11-30 : Ranger (highest stamina gain) 31-100 : variable levels of Warrior and Sorcerer, depending on how you want your phys / magic balance. I do advise getting both Sorcerer and Warrior vocations maxed out though, since they have some of the best Augments... 101-200 : Start Sorcerer, switch over to MK once Magic is sufficiently pumped. I like high magic. Personally I'm not into the old classic plan of starting Strider and then pratting around with a full mesh of Hybrid classes. Plus I prefer to switch to MK rather late since its stat-gains are all defensive, and it is easier to compensate for low defensive stats with gear than low offensive stats.
Ian Hurt "this" as in what I said or what others said? Strider isn't ever "bad". It is very much a jack-of-all-trades as far as stat boosts go. And for levels 1-10, if I remember rightly, the actual number of points distributed between the stats is about even across the basic classes. I just tend to go fighter because they start off with more health at level 1... which gives them a slight point advantage over the other two classes... and their attribute gains are physical (even if my characters become spellcasters later on, being able to survive physical attacks is more important in the early game). As for Assassin... a lot of people like Assassin's stat gains because it focuses heavily on Strength and gives a lot of Stamina besides. I tend to go Ranger where most would go Assassin because it gives even more stamina, and because the offensive stat boosts are more balanced (it gives a bit more magic and a bit less strength). Keep in mind, it is pretty difficult to screw up this game completely. Once you reach level 200, most things will fall like flies if you used even a half-sensible build and have some good pawns with you. I'm supposing people only fret over getting builds "just right" because they're perfectionists and want to max out their damage output against the Online Ur-Dragon or something. In any case, I recommend trying to max out all the vocations on one character, mostly for the Augment skills. Warriors get the best physical augments, Sorcerers the best magick augments. Most other vocations get one or two useful ones.
This is kinda late (sorry), but do you still have an idea what you played first between lv 31-100? I am following your guide. Just don't know if I pick warrior first or sorcerer and how many levels each. The only difference I would make is pick mystic knight around lvl 100. Just to be able to play what I really want 😅

This is an amazing guide. I'm gonna be replaying Dragon's Dogma, finished the main story once, as Mystic Knight (Not optimized), but didn't complete all the post game content. Gonna be doing that now, and needed all the help I could get in terms of optimization of vocations. Good shit, friend.
For physical yes, not for balanced or mage focused. Throw in 40 levels as Sorcerer if you want balanced. 1-10, 11-50, 51-90, 91-200 somewhat similar to this.
I know its been a year since this video, but did you ever learn of the Turret combo? Ruinious Sigil plus a couple of Great Cannons = every enemy that runs into the Sigil sets off the Cannon, and several cannons can hit each other increasing the damage output exponentially!

Meanwhile I started a new character and made some research and my idea is Lvl 1-10 - Strider, Lvl 10-55 - Ranger, Lvl 55-100 - Mystic Knight, Lvl 100-150 - Mystic Knight and Lvl 150-200 Strider to end up with Hp 3520, Stam 3475, atk 397, def 352, M.atk 397, M. def 343. The idea for my Pawn would be Lvl 1-10 - Strider, Lvl 10-55 - Strider, Lvl 55-100 - Strider, Lvl 100-150 - Ranger and Lvl 150-200 - Mage to end up with Hp 3225, Stam 3725, atk 397, def 347, M.atk 397, M.def 348. Fighter 1-12, warrior 12-35, ranger 35-95, sorcerer 95-190, 190-200 mystic knight. W/ sorcerer you can level really fast through offline Ur-Dragon. Just use silverwheat and holy enchantment and focus bolt (holding square skill) kills Ur-Dragon super fast. Since great cannon is magick based it's good to raise your magick stat through sorcerer.
DUDE! After watching this I built my Mystic Knight up to level 9 to get Abyssal Anguish, then went straight to the Ur-Dragon. I beat him in like 5-6 minutes!

i started as a strider and sinds level 15 i've been all over in terms of vocation, i'm level 43 currently and i've never been killed in combat, i can insta kill many many monsters and i can shrug of arrows like thier spoons, of course what whould you expect with Erza Scarlet as a companion...

Wesley Richardson Hard to tell without looking at your Arisen's base stats. the MK's growth pattern emphasizes HP and defenses, and has mediocre stat gains in stamina, magick and strength. The MA has terrible stat growth in everything except magick defense. However, there are 200 levels of growth possible in this game, so if you're still under level 50, you have a long way to go before a point of no return. And that said, with Dark Arisen's weapons and armor, it is next to impossible to screw up an Arisen or pawn's build... not that there ever was to begin with. My main GT has an Arisen with STR 374, MAG 580 and Stamina of 3004; I leveled 1/4 Sorcerer and 3/4 MK, hardly a great build plan. Yet I have almost 220 online Ur kills and can kill anything I want, with ease. I really wouldn't worry.

How you deal with Maneater as a MK?? I'm planning using summoning orb, or healing potion... I don't want to waste a augment Edit: I just see Frigor will do the trick, I already had a staff with me anyway, so why not ^^
It's really unimportant though. Just go for a balanced character by playing some magic classes and some phys ones or hybrids all the way - you'll be like 200 strength/magick behind super-minmaxed builds at max level, which is pathetic considering your weapons will give you around 2000.
Dude I was really annoyed because I put strider lvl 10 then went to assassin but wanted to play a mystic knight but then I heard you say you done it and I was so happy.
This helps a lot considering most people ok wiki or on any website stating they've played MK only really go into post dragon goals such as having great cannon and ruinous sigil but nothing into starting vocation or skills, or even gear.

There are two main factors I can think of, Level and vocation. Your vocation affects the amount of the stat gained per level up. i.e. fighter which is a defensive vocation gains more than a strider would which focuses on stamina. The level of your character can also change the amount. When you start of from level 1 to 10 you gain a very high amount of each stat but as you get higher level, the stat gain is reduced a few points.
normally the online version runs away before you kill it. If you're asking if you need to fight the online version - just switch to offline in your game options.
I believe it's physical. The description of the Great Cannon on the wiki said that the greater the damage your strike on the magic ball, the greater the damage of the spells that are sent out. The element on your weapon also affects the element of the spells so it might be that the enemy is resisting the element on your weapon. Hope this helped
So I've been thinking of using MK myself after going sorcerer from 11-50 and I'm thinking of using maces instead of staffs. What class would I need to go I order to get my attack and stamina the highest? Also are maces better for the MK or would it be better to just use a sword?
Sorcer has slow attacks, unless you're using Ingle or Levin, and although they are slow, by now you know that they pack quite a punch. Going to Warrior right now for a few levels would help you greatly because Sorcerers I believe have the lowest def. A good idea is to go from Mage -> Sorcerer -> Mystic Archer/Knight.
Two things for people to keep in mind. A) Great Cannon doesn't gain damage from base Stength, only base Magic attack, Weapon Strength and Weapon Magic stats. B) the Perma-Enchanted weapons don't gain any damage from base Magic attack stats.
Spirit Warden why is it so difficult to get a straight answer; MK/MA Pure Mana or Split Mana/strength... Your comment really helps with establishing the answer for myself, the only issue is mana not buffing perma enchanted weapons? Is this 100% fact?
What I did was start with Strider to vocation 10 and get EVERY skill to 10. Then I simply did every vocation (including my pawn) until they peak their vocation. Then I can use any augment skill. This is key for me and my pawn
Hopefully someone can answer this... Coming into this game very late but keen to turn my L34 Warrior into a Mystic Knight however I'm wondering if it's too late as I've only used Fighter & Warrior vocations. Should I switch to Strider now or is the stat gain pretty much lost for that class? Should I just switch to Sorcerer instead or really, should I just start a brand new character? I'm confused?
Depends what you want in the end game. Levelling as a mage or Sorcerer will boost your magic gains, but at the expense of health and stamina gains (which you can balance out by Levelling as a warrior or ranger). That's all up to level 100. After that it gets difficult as the stat gain is minimal. After level 100, Sorcerer gives you the best magic attack gains per level, mage and magic archer give the best magic defence gains, fighter gives the best physical defence gains, and Assassin gives the best physical attack gains. But the game is generous with stat gains based on gear, especially with the Bitterblack level 3 armours. So at level 200, with a few pieces of top tier gear, you'll be OP anyway.
I just started a Ranger but didnt know about the lvling system so i basically played hot potato with my vocations for the first 20 lvls. than in i switched to just ranger till lvl 35 is my build fucked? I really dont want to start over i was 11-12 when dragons dogma came out and i played a ranger the whole game. and BBi was impossible for me do you think i just wasn't really good or my build was fucked. i was like lvl 80 at least when i went to BBi and i did offline the UR dragons so i know i wasn't completely trash.
i started this game in 2016 on pc, then took a VERY long break and just finished it in 2022. i completed the game being a mystic knight from lvl 0-48, i think that wasnt a good idea..

Hmm which is better, Mystic Knight or Magick Archer? I started off with mage lv1-20 and Sorcerer lv20-45 btw. I'm trying to get the highest magic stat possible before I switched to either one. Also I'll be using magic enhance weapons because of my high magic stat.

I was ranger 4'majority of my 1st playthrough but I have maxed all vocations excluding the fighter and warrior. Im only level 81 my base stats are an even 347 should I keep levling as ranger or go mk 4 the rest.

No you don't need to start over unless you feel like doing it all over again. That's actually a smart thing to do regardless if you missed the Everfall Items but, that's beside the point. Your character is essentially a Glass Magic Cannon I recently discovered that Mystic Knight is MUCH more powerful with high Magic stats. Your Sigil and Magic Cannon should be godly strong That being said you character is fine Having a glass cannon While your HP is lower you will kill faster, good balance.
Back in the day i used to buff my weapon with Holy Weapon then make 3 holy magic canons at the same time and then hit them with antler toss. It was so broken i cried...especially when you have assassin augments.

(I'm slightly late to the party)TL:DRIt's actually far more efficient to have high magick than strength, but it would be very reasonable to just level up as a mystic knight to have a good mix of them both, as well as the innate tankiness of the class. Your video was good and you spoke well, I just think you went wrong in the information a bit. Mystic knight's abilities scale slightly more from magick than strength, so in terms of abilities it would actually be better to level up as a sorcerer or, *gasp* a mystic knight. Also, there actually isn't much reason to have strength. Enchanted swords (mystic knight's bread and butter) deal your strength as physical damage and your magick as magickal damage. Therefore, you would actually be a far more efficient character scaling wise, if you were able to be 100% magickal, though the issue there would be you lacking physical damage.
i got the Autonomy Augment and it says for me, "Grants you additional Strength and Defence when you venture forth Alone. yours has 2 daggers crossed or 2 swords. mines a cracked skull.

Just bought Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen for the PS4 and I can't stop playing. Mystic Knight vocation is legit.

This game is infinitely playable. You must have missed something in the story, as it's a never ending cycle

You can cast three or four great cannons on top of two ruinous sigil. Will 100% reck everything.
yeah but even if you don't have a cannon or sigil you can use the ripostes so still stats don't mean anything

After reaching level 10, I went 10-50 as Assassin (for strength and stamina) and then 50-100 as Sorcerer (for Magick). Then I went from 100-160 still as Sorcerer and then 160-200 as Assassin.
After all that bullshit, I finally switched to Mystic Knight, and I was dealing some God-like damage since my Strength and Magick damage stats were so damn high.
The catch is that your health will be at nearly the lowest it could get, but since it’s MK that’s easily fixed with some decent armor. So, it really isn’t that big of a deal.
Remember, I was creating a MK build that was made purely for damage. I didn’t take anything else into account, so you might hate this build.
Best build stat wise involves 1-10 mage, 10-100 assassin, 100-200 sorcerer. This info is for purely for those wanting Max dmg.
Acuity, Attunement, Clout, Vehemence and articulacy are pretty much the five best augments for a MK. You couple Articulacy with Wyrmking's ring, your spells are 30% faster. Acuity and Attunement is a 30% boost to Magic. And Clout and Vehemence is 30% plus to strength.
I've never played Dragon's Dogma but man this looks awesome. I've always loved battlemage builds.

I wonder, did you know weapon buff skills affects great cannon's elemental damage? I use fire weapon or holy weapon as most things are weak to those elements, that I find. Fire weapon plus great cannon is great for dealing with flying enemies like harpies, griffons, and cockatrices. I think weapon buffs affect ruinous sigil to, hmm, yeah they do

i went fighter 1-10. assassin 10-40 and 40-100 sorc and mystic knight from there worked out pretty good got great magic and good attack. useing magic sword going pretty good. useing both magic and normal attack skills was one the best builds iv worked with so far
I think I'm being a dumb ass. I'm grinding levels as a sorcerer for those 5 magic points, (fearing not having enough stats at the end of the game) and having no fun with the game. Because Sorcerer is boring af
In every description you should add what type of armor, weapon, stats, and etc you're wearing/using in every video. This will be really helpful and will eliminate any further annoying questions.
For the perfect mystic knight go: mage 1-10; then assassin 10-100; and here it is your choice if you want more magic damage go sorcerer 100-200 that will leave you with about 618 str and 596 magic but with only 3588 Hp. For dragons dogma that is pretty much epic, you will be a god in gransys, but if you play dragons dogma:dark arisen and plan to go to Bitterblack Island 3588hp is not enough. What i did was 1-10 mage, assassin 10-100 and from 100-200 mystic knight. This way i would still win str because sorcerer gives 0 str per level after 100, and mystic knight gives 1, win some magic(1 per level) and win more hp and def than sorcerer, altough it is up to you. And he has more str than most of us because he is playing dragons dogma without the Dark Arisen expansion, meaning that the assassins augments give 70% more str,magic and whatever it gives than us that play Dragons Dogma:Dark Arisen , because in dark arisen instead of giving 70% more, it only gives 20%. Hope i helped, and sorry for any english mistake.
All mystic knights attacks are based off of 60/40 magic/strength. You'll most likely want a bit higher magic than strength.

Ugh, I went Fighter, then to Mystic knight with no knowledge of this. Then back to fighter to get the Dogma sword, then back to Mystic Knight. Im at 43 now, and i didn't know all of this.
Those fighter levels will give you some attack and mystic knight will help you with magic defense so it's not all bad. Myself I went fighter first 10 then Warrior. I was playing as Mystic knight when I learned about the stat gains. Might go Assassin for a bit to balance it out.

Nice video. I'm a beginning Dragon's Dogma player and after having rushed through the story and getting to level 30 on a fighter I wanted to play something different. The Mystic Knight caught my eye, but I was really wondering on how to build up my character. This has helped a lot - though I think I'll go Strider to 10, and just go with Mystic Knight from that point on to get a really balanced character in terms of stats. Subscribed, by the way!

I swear by:
1-10 : Fighter (better health than other basics)
11-30 : Ranger (highest stamina gain)
31-100 : variable levels of Warrior and Sorcerer, depending on how you want your phys / magic balance. I do advise getting both Sorcerer and Warrior vocations maxed out though, since they have some of the best Augments...
101-200 : Start Sorcerer, switch over to MK once Magic is sufficiently pumped. I like high magic.
Personally I'm not into the old classic plan of starting Strider and then pratting around with a full mesh of Hybrid classes. Plus I prefer to switch to MK rather late since its stat-gains are all defensive, and it is easier to compensate for low defensive stats with gear than low offensive stats.

Strider isn't ever "bad". It is very much a jack-of-all-trades as far as stat boosts go.
And for levels 1-10, if I remember rightly, the actual number of points distributed between the stats is about even across the basic classes. I just tend to go fighter because they start off with more health at level 1... which gives them a slight point advantage over the other two classes... and their attribute gains are physical (even if my characters become spellcasters later on, being able to survive physical attacks is more important in the early game).
As for Assassin... a lot of people like Assassin's stat gains because it focuses heavily on Strength and gives a lot of Stamina besides.
I tend to go Ranger where most would go Assassin because it gives even more stamina, and because the offensive stat boosts are more balanced (it gives a bit more magic and a bit less strength).
Keep in mind, it is pretty difficult to screw up this game completely. Once you reach level 200, most things will fall like flies if you used even a half-sensible build and have some good pawns with you.
I'm supposing people only fret over getting builds "just right" because they're perfectionists and want to max out their damage output against the Online Ur-Dragon or something.
In any case, I recommend trying to max out all the vocations on one character, mostly for the Augment skills. Warriors get the best physical augments, Sorcerers the best magick augments. Most other vocations get one or two useful ones.

I know its been a year since this video, but did you ever learn of the Turret combo? Ruinious Sigil plus a couple of Great Cannons = every enemy that runs into the Sigil sets off the Cannon, and several cannons can hit each other increasing the damage output exponentially!

The idea for my Pawn would be Lvl 1-10 - Strider, Lvl 10-55 - Strider, Lvl 55-100 - Strider, Lvl 100-150 - Ranger and Lvl 150-200 - Mage to end up with Hp 3225, Stam 3725, atk 397, def 347, M.atk 397, M.def 348.

Fighter 1-12, warrior 12-35, ranger 35-95, sorcerer 95-190, 190-200 mystic knight. W/ sorcerer you can level really fast through offline Ur-Dragon. Just use silverwheat and holy enchantment and focus bolt (holding square skill) kills Ur-Dragon super fast. Since great cannon is magick based it's good to raise your magick stat through sorcerer.

DUDE! After watching this I built my Mystic Knight up to level 9 to get Abyssal Anguish, then went straight to the Ur-Dragon. I beat him in like 5-6 minutes!

i started as a strider and sinds level 15 i've been all over in terms of vocation, i'm level 43 currently and i've never been killed in combat, i can insta kill many many monsters and i can shrug of arrows like thier spoons, of course what whould you expect with Erza Scarlet as a companion...

You should switch your Burst Strike to Full Moon Slash. If you Full Moon Slash your Great Cannon it releases more orbs.

Wesley Richardson Hard to tell without looking at your Arisen's base stats. the MK's growth pattern emphasizes HP and defenses, and has mediocre stat gains in stamina, magick and strength. The MA has terrible stat growth in everything except magick defense. However, there are 200 levels of growth possible in this game, so if you're still under level 50, you have a long way to go before a point of no return. And that said, with Dark Arisen's weapons and armor, it is next to impossible to screw up an Arisen or pawn's build... not that there ever was to begin with.
My main GT has an Arisen with STR 374, MAG 580 and Stamina of 3004; I leveled 1/4 Sorcerer and 3/4 MK, hardly a great build plan. Yet I have almost 220 online Ur kills and can kill anything I want, with ease. I really wouldn't worry.

Stat Growth in Dragon's Dogma is the biggest turn off imo.
It's really unimportant though. Just go for a balanced character by playing some magic classes and some phys ones or hybrids all the way - you'll be like 200 strength/magick behind super-minmaxed builds at max level, which is pathetic considering your weapons will give you around 2000.

This helps a lot considering most people ok wiki or on any website stating they've played MK only really go into post dragon goals such as having great cannon and ruinous sigil but nothing into starting vocation or skills, or even gear.

Go to bitter black, get the ring of perseverance, hard mode, repeat, back to normal, boom, 100% more discipline
There are two main factors I can think of, Level and vocation. Your vocation affects the amount of the stat gained per level up. i.e. fighter which is a defensive vocation gains more than a strider would which focuses on stamina. The level of your character can also change the amount. When you start of from level 1 to 10 you gain a very high amount of each stat but as you get higher level, the stat gain is reduced a few points.
normally the online version runs away before you kill it. If you're asking if you need to fight the online version - just switch to offline in your game options.
I believe it's physical. The description of the Great Cannon on the wiki said that the greater the damage your strike on the magic ball, the greater the damage of the spells that are sent out. The element on your weapon also affects the element of the spells so it might be that the enemy is resisting the element on your weapon. Hope this helped
So I've been thinking of using MK myself after going sorcerer from 11-50 and I'm thinking of using maces instead of staffs. What class would I need to go I order to get my attack and stamina the highest? Also are maces better for the MK or would it be better to just use a sword?

magick is factored into the magick cannon attack which is one of the MKs best attacks - so having some magick is worthwhile.
Sorcer has slow attacks, unless you're using Ingle or Levin, and although they are slow, by now you know that they pack quite a punch. Going to Warrior right now for a few levels would help you greatly because Sorcerers I believe have the lowest def.
A good idea is to go from Mage -> Sorcerer -> Mystic Archer/Knight.

Two things for people to keep in mind. A) Great Cannon doesn't gain damage from base Stength, only base Magic attack, Weapon Strength and Weapon Magic stats.
B) the Perma-Enchanted weapons don't gain any damage from base Magic attack stats.

What I did was start with Strider to vocation 10 and get EVERY skill to 10. Then I simply did every vocation (including my pawn) until they peak their vocation. Then I can use any augment skill. This is key for me and my pawn

Hopefully someone can answer this... Coming into this game very late but keen to turn my L34 Warrior into a Mystic Knight however I'm wondering if it's too late as I've only used Fighter & Warrior vocations.
Should I switch to Strider now or is the stat gain pretty much lost for that class? Should I just switch to Sorcerer instead or really, should I just start a brand new character? I'm confused?
Depends what you want in the end game. Levelling as a mage or Sorcerer will boost your magic gains, but at the expense of health and stamina gains (which you can balance out by Levelling as a warrior or ranger). That's all up to level 100. After that it gets difficult as the stat gain is minimal. After level 100, Sorcerer gives you the best magic attack gains per level, mage and magic archer give the best magic defence gains, fighter gives the best physical defence gains, and Assassin gives the best physical attack gains.
But the game is generous with stat gains based on gear, especially with the Bitterblack level 3 armours. So at level 200, with a few pieces of top tier gear, you'll be OP anyway.
I just started a Ranger but didnt know about the lvling system so i basically played hot potato with my vocations for the first 20 lvls. than in i switched to just ranger till lvl 35 is my build fucked? I really dont want to start over i was 11-12 when dragons dogma came out and i played a ranger the whole game. and BBi was impossible for me do you think i just wasn't really good or my build was fucked. i was like lvl 80 at least when i went to BBi and i did offline the UR dragons so i know i wasn't completely trash.
i started this game in 2016 on pc, then took a VERY long break and just finished it in 2022. i completed the game being a mystic knight from lvl 0-48, i think that wasnt a good idea..

I was ranger 4'majority of my 1st playthrough but I have maxed all vocations excluding the fighter and warrior. Im only level 81 my base stats are an even 347 should I keep levling as ranger or go mk 4 the rest.

No you don't need to start over unless you feel like doing it all over again. That's actually a smart thing to do regardless if you missed the Everfall Items but, that's beside the point.
Your character is essentially a Glass Magic Cannon I recently discovered that Mystic Knight is MUCH more powerful with high Magic stats. Your Sigil and Magic Cannon should be godly strong That being said you character is fine Having a glass cannon While your HP is lower you will kill faster, good balance.
Back in the day i used to buff my weapon with Holy Weapon then make 3 holy magic canons at the same time and then hit them with antler toss. It was so broken i cried...especially when you have assassin augments.

I like using the mystic night as both supportive and offensive, they can enchant everyone and hit hard with maces and magic being thrown in
(I'm slightly late to the party)TL:DRIt's actually far more efficient to have high magick than strength, but it would be very reasonable to just level up as a mystic knight to have a good mix of them both, as well as the innate tankiness of the class. Your video was good and you spoke well, I just think you went wrong in the information a bit. Mystic knight's abilities scale slightly more from magick than strength, so in terms of abilities it would actually be better to level up as a sorcerer or, *gasp* a mystic knight. Also, there actually isn't much reason to have strength. Enchanted swords (mystic knight's bread and butter) deal your strength as physical damage and your magick as magickal damage. Therefore, you would actually be a far more efficient character scaling wise, if you were able to be 100% magickal, though the issue there would be you lacking physical damage.
i got the Autonomy Augment and it says for me, "Grants you additional Strength and Defence when you venture forth Alone. yours has 2 daggers crossed or 2 swords. mines a cracked skull.
