- Judas Priest performing at Live Aid in front of 100,000 people in the John F. Kennedy Stadium, Philadelphia USA on the 13th July, 1985. The event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.

I very recently finished reading Rob’s autobiography. He wrote that Priest were at the very height of their popularity at this time, yet it was the lowest point in his personal life.
He has remained sober since ‘86.
...and the crowd cheered when Rob personally executed the sound technician right after this song
Haha 😂
lol
Fuckin ridiculous man! They need to get someone who had sound chops for such a nice event.
stop lol your killing it!!
ABC network built the stage and provided the satellite feed. All bands had 10 mins to get ready backstage on a rotating dial. The PA and all heavy equipment was shared. Most bands also shared the drum kit, not sure what Dave Holland was using.
This was the largest simulcast ever at the time.
Okay who is with me on the conscious that this band needs an honorary Grammy award as well as induction into the rock and roll hall of fame the justifiably deserve it
Hall of Fame is a joke. Aren't they allowing rap acts now?
I couldn’t agree more bro....PRIEST PRIEST PRIEST !
Way Overdue!
@@gbaker9295 doesn’t take away from the fact that there are still many great rock bands & artists in it.
They're not in the Hall? Holy shit!
That voice just fucking slaughters!
The best metal singer ever as far as I'm concerned.
Judas Priest are awesome.
Hell yeah
I LOVE Judast
Jesus the feed back off those speakers 😬😬😬😬
Lemmy...
Rapid fire is my favorite by then
One of the best singers of all time!
YOU GOT IT!
Good rasp to Rob's voice, yet he still hits crazy high notes;& gets the crowd singing, too .
darts and booze baby
I always love it when the camera guy is on the wrong guitar player during the solo. :p
Jeff Smith I hate it :P
I hate it
Cos they couldn't really give a shit and not into music, it must be.
Every time...
Epic fail there that and the fucking sound man can manage the mic feedback just shameful
I want the 70s and 80s back😭😭😭
FUCK YEAH YOUR POINT!
Good thing we have Spotify to listen to this song and thousands of others literally whenever we want
Same here
The world now sucks ass😅😅😅
I just wanna 70's and 80s metal back
90 degrees out and the Priest in their usual leather !
Glenn Tipton sweaty in black leather is worth it. YUM!
Of course... metal gods till the end.
They probably changed into shorts and t-shirts afterwards.
Yeah but you gotta admit Rob Halford truly turned a few heads in the leather pants. Guys and gals alike
It was 102 that day, I was there. It was 90 at 10:00am.
You had one job sound tech... One job...
He was at a JP concert in the 80s. He was stoned!!!
Cracking up!
That was brutal to set though.
@@The_Real_Indiana_Joe well it was hard because they had to change bands every 15 minutes
I know, WTF !
Killer bad azz voice , Sir Rob Halford ! God I miss the 80’s !
From the raw power of Black Sabbath's black tar to Judas Priest's refined jet fuel vibe, metal's awesome power flies in the skies roaring in all its forms. Don't let the spirit die, keep soaring!
Both of course from Birmingham!!! 🤘
Metal took a shit and gave up it's magic when it decided to copy the Bad Brains, (you can thank Metallica ect for that) -Tried to be cool-. Can't go back.
The most powerful voice in Rock, Metal, well music period. . .
Robert Plant. Ian Gillan. Ronnie James Dio. Halford sings like an angry docker.
@@heraldeventsandfilms5970 but like Dio, Halford has a natural 5 octave range.
@@heraldeventsandfilms5970 bruce Dickinson
@@brucedickinson12 Well yes and many more, right up until the present day. I think though, that heavy rock has the likes of Plant, Gillan and Dio in the top league and Halford and Dicksinson were always in the second division.
@@jeffersowilson7936 For Real? He is good for what he does but his range is not quite there. Just my opinion. I love the way they did Whiskey in a Jar I tried to get them to use my video idea but they said it would cost too much money to produce and film. Pirate ships and peg legs and such.
80s metal still undefeated... Legends....
*cough* 70s Metal *cough*
I was there in that crowd....great performance....great memories.
2 years later........yes I see you
Learning new respect for that drummer... Hell yeah!
Halfords voice can carry a stadium then and now
Ronnie James dio and hearing aid were the leaders of the pack
@@davidthomson7391 man, if only dio and ozzy could collaborate....
Love that, at the crack of dawn, 90,000 people are singing “LOADED!” Many were!!👍👍
Such a nice performance, the singer’s voice is so lively
Rob Halford
I know
A testament to any band is when they can play this good live!! Judas the best of the best👌🎶🎧
I don't usually like live music but he's such a vocal talent I'll make an exception with this band. Most bands can't pull it off but most don't have a one in a billion talent
Halford in his prime.
Yes in range you are correct But his voice more seasoned but man he had a pair of lungs. During whisky women
@hawabonga zothew respectfully disagree. Around 83-85, halford was taking serious drugs. Once he became clean in 86, he voice was amazing. In the live 88 shows (where priest was performing songs in the ram it down album) that was def his true peak
Those "Come on"s... Great
He looks completely different
1991 was really good too.
It always struck me how halford was more macho and tougher looking than literally any of the glam metal bands of that same time period, who all basically looked like my sister. He was and is a total badass
The peak year for Judas Priest.
What a lineup this band had in 1985 !! Outstanding !!
Glenn & kk..the worlds greatest guitarists! Miss the 80's so much. Was 20 years old 85 and everything was good..
Nothing says Judas Priest like Rob Halford in leather!
Judas priest - legends 🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼🔥
Robs voice is still as good as 35 years ago🙏
I wish I existed during this era
They were the first band I saw on stage when I walked into RFK Stadium at 10:30 am on that July day. It was surreal
Judas Priest needs their own movie like the Queen
well Rob wrote his biography this last few months inspired in BoRhap movie, I'd like a Halford movie, but I'm ok with a book - he also recorded the audio book.
The film 'Rock Star' is loosely based on Priest, even down to a singing photocopier salesman replacing the gay vocalist.
If they ever do, Matthew Rhys would be my choice to play him
Me to, great!!
Nice choice!
@@LucasVigor
All the Madonna fans must have been freaking out when Judas Priest came on stage.
Nah, they knew Priest more than Madonna. Priest was H U G E at the time.
Madonna was pretty unknown those days.
Them were on Saturday & this here Sunday
@@PinkFloydBootlegs idk man madonna already had a number one single
Madonna was huge in 85
Young and healthy we all miss that don't we😮💪??!?!!
Wow, wish I was there, must have been an awesome experience, people appear to be respectful and well behaved, couldn't put on a concert like that today.😞
Mega geile band höre sie heute noch
What entertainer!!! Best metal frontman ever!!!
For some reason I'm most impressed with Dave Holland's timekeeping here. No matter how many wrenching mic feedback squeaks there are, he keeps tappin' as if he doesn't hear them. PS. poor choice in sound manager lol.
This wasn’t the kind if gig for audio perfection. The Wembley gig sounded much better.
Got to see them live last night omg Rob Halford omg I got to see a living legend. That’s still shocking to me. It was amazing. Was singing this song on my way home
Judas made heavy metal mainstream .Great live band tooo 🤘🤘🤘🤘
What a handsome man.
I remember driving my motorbike with a Group of friends to bike rallies here around Ireland & when we would arrive we used just drink beer and have a good time listening to this band mostly as I kept requesting them to be played from the DJ 🤣 good times and the good old days with no worries. Long live Metal🔥
Long live metal!
Philadelphia crowd loved some Priest.
Great video with powerful music. The band looks awesome in their heyday.
Thanks to Queen's Performance at Wembley, not only do we forget that Live aid was international, But that Judas Priest, the metal god's, themselves were involved. That's no surprise tho. It's fucking Queen 🤘
well, Queen did stole the show with their performance, which i guess we can agree was the best performance ever recorded!
Halford the metal god vs Freddie the rock god
@@ezequiels.1028 U2 doing Bad wasnt too shabby
What in the world is your comment about? What are you trying to say except that Queen is a good band?
well we also forgot Phil Collins was at both shows in London and Philly on the same flipping day
Sound guy: “Sound check? I don’t need to do no stinkin’ sound check!”
I enjoy the others comments especially someone who commented that they want the 70s and 80s back me too bro but thanks to all who liked my comment just have to double check my spelling one more thing heavy metal rules and rock and roll will never die can I get an amen as well as hell yeah
To be fair, the singer is strolling around every corner of the stage, with a wireless mic. Not the best conditions to avoid feedback.
@@backslash68 Is not a Rob Halford mic feedback, they forgot some open mic on the stage.
Love Priest❤
Great times best concerts, hell we're old and still here 💪2024!!
Long live metal, Judas Priest, my favorite band
What a time to be alive. Wish I could've been part of it!.
Best show of the Live Aid.
@@TheMusicHeals.kjhjhhg fuck queen , we like metal
The mighty Priest kicking ass, taking names and Rob roaming like...a...BOSS!
best band ever
The second song every young guitarist learns right after Smoke pn the Water...
"Living After Midnight"
Living after midnight, rockin' to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone
I took the city 'bout one A.M, loaded, loaded
I'm all geared up to score again, loaded, loaded
I come alive in the neon light
That's when I make my moves right
Living after midnight, rockin' to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone
Got gleaming chrome, reflecting steel, loaded, loaded
Ready to take on every deal, loaded, loaded
My pulse is racing, I'm hot to take
This motor's revved up, fit to break
Living after midnight, rockin' to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone
I'm aiming for ya
I'm gonna floor ya
My body's coming
All night long
The air's electric, sparkin' power, loaded, loaded
I'm getting hotter by the hour, loaded, loaded
I set my sights and then home in
The joint starts flying when I begin
Living after midnight, rockin' to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone
[repeat and fade]
"I got to Philly about 1 A.M.....loaded"
Judas Priest 🤘💪👊🤘🤘🤘 um sonzaso heavy metal rock 🎸🎸🎤🎶💞👊⭐🤘👍👏🇧🇷
THE SOUND TECHNICIAN GOT FIRE AFTER THAT SHOW!!!
J.P. welcome forever in Argentina!!!
I wish they would include more videos of the official video footage of the other bands that played at Live Aid. A good video of Loudness would be greatly appreciated by a lot of people.
You mean the Japanese band Loudness ?
@@__-cx6jq No he means the Puerto 🇵🇷 Rican band Louedness. 😂😂😂
Rob Halford is simply incredible
Rob Halford is a real rock star here :) !
I remember this day, we had party and lissen from tv, damn i miss my 80s..

The coolest looking Rob Halford I know!!!
Amazing Voice!!!!!!!!!!!
Halford, Coverdale and Gillan, british rock/metal monsters.
Words to live by......great song
Mr.Dave Holland THE BEST drums Judas Priest, ONLY 1,PERFECT, FANTASTIC, MAGNIFIC, R.I.P LOVE YOU FOREVER ❤️
They’re giving that sound system one hell of a workout
We used to cover this song in one of the bands I was in. one of the best drum parts I ever played.
Judas Priest beste Heavy Metal Band aller Zeiten👍👍👍👍👍. Unerreichbar👍👍👍👍👍

Even a not feeling good Halford still kicks ass !!! 🤘
Judas priest new they were good..lots of swag👈
He had that David Lee Roth squeal going great at that stage. What a show, can;t take your eyes off them.
FEEEEEDBAAAAAACCCCCKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!
The Metal God. Sporting a hanky, code for HEAVY S&M. Love it.
Legends of metal!!!!!!
Legendary band near the top of their form. Shame the sound guy couldn't manage to eliminate mic feedback and the camera guy couldn't tell that Glenn is soloing and not KK. How does that even happen!? Probably cuz he'd never filmed an actual musician before. Saw Priest a few years back just before covid and Rob STILL has the pipes! Just an amazing performer... and yet more people know who Drake is for some reason. Sad.
Never knew what that scarf that Rob had meant until I read his book!!! Priest was a highpoint of the show. Metal God indeed!! Showed them how it was done.
Brilliant. The feed back sort of makes it proper heavy metal! And so what about their sexuality! A great iconic heavy metal band.
only Rob is gay, the rest are straight
@@smokesletsgo2374 Only Rob is straight. The rest are gay.
Rock solid
They had a lot of problems with feedback on the sound system
Maybe that would explain the annoying squeaky sound I heard toward the end of the video.
Festivals featuring multiple bands usually come with this type of problem.
Hail to the legend!! \m/
Waren dass noch geile Zeiten!Judas Prist ♥️🎸😝
Sad
No more bands like this
Damnnnnn
Damn I am so freaking old...I remember this. I wasn't there, but I watched it. I look at Rob today and say "SH!T he got old"...then I said "Wait...he's not that much older than me!". Sh~t I'm freaking old. :(
Everyone always talks about QUEEN at Live Aid. No one talks about Judas Priest at Live Aid or the short lived Black Sabbath reunion at Live Aid.
We used to play this song in my old rock band sinister 😎🎸🎶🌎🥁🙂❤
Therelife is therelife still rock
Best of the 80s
Fire the sound man.
Rocking till the dawn, lovin till the morning , then I'm gone !!!!!!!!!
I remember watching this live after a mad days drinking at the 12th parade
Watching this while reading Rob's autobiography. It puts the performance in perspective, for sure.
wassup was he fucked up
Yes it sure does.
The Best performance in Live Aid,
Heavy metal Forever Classic Memories of Judas priest.
Not all of them were gay...not that there is anything wrong with that, which is why we still love these guys....and it never mattered these guys were pure animal magnetism.
Rob looks really cool here.
A real rock star :) !
