@@DrRussPhd Hell not even a few years, literally the day after New Years' in 1973 he tried to perform with a flu after having to walk to the concert in the rain after the band's car broke down, and the strain irrepairably damaged the top end of his voice. To top it all off he got throat surgery the same year to get rid of some vocal nodules (nodules he got from singing over 70 concerts in 3 back to back tours in just the first half of the year with barely any breaks) but instead of recuperating after the surgery, he and the band decided to record Physical Graffiti straight afterwards. It's insane how someone could permanently and drastically alter their voice for the worse in just two years, he might as well have just drank bleach and his throat would be in better condition than what he put it through

When the audience numbers in the tens of thousands...stuff happens. At this point, it could well be someone died and the kids found this going through Dads old pictures & movies.
A number of observations: 16mm was generally used for TV and documentaries. For field work 35mm was to big, to heavy, to costly. Consumers could shoot 16mm but overwhelmingly went with 8mm. Given it's 16mm, the variety of shots, long zooms, the interviews, the good audio, etc. I think the most likely explanation is: 1. This was shot by a local TV station or national network. 2. The footage languished in storage for years. 3. There was a reduction in redundant facilities with a lot of material getting cleared out and someone took this home. 4. At last someone is going through the material in an old basement or estate. For its age the film is very clean. I have seen a variety of 35mm slides & 8mm movies from my family dating as far back as the 1930's and this looks so much better. No fungus, no cracks. I am going to opine the film has been kept in a climate controlled low humidity environment. What I find interesting is shooting black & white rather than color - in 1972 color movie film was most certainly available. But if it is being shot for television - a little research shows color tv broadcast didn't start in Australia until March 1975, three years after this event.

The greatest band that ever lived... Led Zeppelin !!! The 4 of them were such phenomenal musicians, with such a strong foundation of chemistry. Plus they were unbelievably innovative and creative. Zeppelins improvs were extraordinary. They could play anything they wanted and make it sound incredible !! Led Zeppelin was and still is Legendary !! It’s so weird to hear John Bonham’s voice there’s so little audio of him talking over the years. I saw the band in 71,72,73, and final time 3/5/1975 and I couldn’t believe how much the band had matured and just totally sounded so polished and refined in between 73 and my last show in Dallas in 75.

What a band! Those were the days. I loved going to see them. I am soooooo glad to be a flower child , growing up in the 60s and learning about the world in the 70s. Thank you rock and roll.
In the Hammer of the Gods book, it's mentioned that Bonzo was a real family man. He never wanted to tour the world and was quite content playing London and area venues in his band before LZ. Plant and Page convinced him to join Zep. Apparently he missed home and his family very much on the road and drank frequently to the point where he became belligerent and would prank everyone and pick fights. A few people close to the band were quoted saying he was the nicest guy in the world when sober.
It was my very 1st concert all other bands I've seen like the stones Floyd and many others can't hold a thing on ZEP they were truly the best I've ever seen
there was the 30s big band era , and the 70s hard rock era . and nothing else has ever got close to creating such powerful music . zepplin were the kings of the 70s . and nobody got close to bonham level !
Undoubtedly at their peak here. Anybody who thinks they ever again approached the musicianship during their shows from this period are kidding themselves. Just superb rock n roll.
Even when Robert changed his style, he still sounded amazing. He could still hit those high notes when he wanted to. He changed with the era. I love his singing in The Song Remains The Same movie. I like him about the same as I do here.

No stomp boxes, direct to amps, no floor monitors, tight performances. This is the benchmark. I learnt to use my ears because these legends taught me to use them properly when making live music.
I had the privilege of seeing Page and Plant in '97 at Madison Square Garden and two years later Jimmy Page with the Black Crows at the Garden State Arts Center where they did all Zeppelin songs and just a couple of their own. Both shows were Amazing! Best Crowd too! Super pumped. They will tour again. Page wants to. I bet they'll do it again. At least One last tour. 🙏🏼
This band when they were young, hungry, half healthy. Just astonishing. Before they were road warriors and driven by a label , so much talent and raw energy. Plants voice at that time, it would have been a real blessing to hear them then.

Yeah alright, they had a ball. They were very young at the time. Yeah, they were a bunch of young British lads, who in the matter of months moved from being just a band playing 20 seats, to a situation where they were considered gods, and were suddenly playing 50.000 seats in the States. And that in the era of free sex and drugs. But they were, and still are, very dedicated musicians. It was all about the music for them. Highly intelligent and incredibly skilled. Page and Jones had been working for years in the recording industry and were considered among the best in the biz long before Zeppelin. And Zeppelin produced some pretty damn fantastic music. It amazes me that all people comment on are the bullshit. Makes you wonder if they even have listened to their records?

Plant is really on form for this show, pushing out Rock n Roll at correct pitch rather than going for an octave lower as he sometimes did (hard song to sing though!). This sure is gold footage, wasn't even born yet!
He was only this good in the very late sixties very early seventies.He was the best then but lost his golden voice by the mid seventies.It was all over by then.

Tim Rubin Halcomb it was a bit of both in 73. Plant did have to undergo surgery on his chords due to nodules, and that completely changed his voice. He was never 100% again after that.

their first album came out when I was in mid twenties. We would smoke a few jays and listen to several records. I remember hearing them for first time. Just knew the singer and guitar player were very different and very special. Enjoyed their music ever since.

Mr Plant well packaged as usual. My God he was gorgeous 😍. Still is.
No stomp boxes, direct to amps, no floor monitors, tight performances. This is the benchmark. I learnt to use my ears because these legends taught me to use them properly when making live music.

I had the privilege of seeing Page and Plant in '97 at Madison Square Garden and two years later Jimmy Page with the Black Crows at the Garden State Arts Center where they did all Zeppelin songs and just a couple of their own. Both shows were Amazing! Best Crowd too! Super pumped. They will tour again. Page wants to. I bet they'll do it again. At least One last tour. 🙏🏼

This band when they were young, hungry, half healthy. Just astonishing. Before they were road warriors and driven by a label , so much talent and raw energy. Plants voice at that time, it would have been a real blessing to hear them then.

Yeah alright, they had a ball. They were very young at the time. But honestly, don't you find it pretty backwards of all the commenting dudes to always, and only, comment about sex, drugs, hair and other shallow attributes??? Yeah, they were a bunch of young British lads, who in the matter of months moved from being just a band playing 20 seats, to a situation where they were considered gods, and were suddenly playing 50.000 seats in the States. And that in the era of free sex and drugs. But they were, and still are, very dedicated musicians. It was all about the music for them. Highly intelligent and incredibly skilled. Page and Jones had been working for years in the recording industry and were considered among the best in the biz long before Zeppelin. And Zeppelin produced some pretty damn fantastic music. It amazes me that all people comment on are the bullshit. Makes you wonder if they even have listened to their records?
Were you at Randwick or were you busy pontificating elsewhere? It was a massive global counterculture the like that has never been seen since! It even changed the government in Oz within a year. But it was very much an orgy of hedonistic drugs, sex and rock and roll. I screwed, tripped, smoked planted cannabis seeds in Glebe police station flowerbed, rocked, rolled, marched against the Vietnam war and was beaten up by US security guards. I WAS THERE FFS! :) :) :)

Plant is really on form for this show, pushing out Rock n Roll at correct pitch rather than going for an octave lower as he sometimes did (hard song to sing though!). This sure is gold footage, wasn't even born yet!
He was only this good in the very late sixties very early seventies.He was the best then but lost his golden voice by the mid seventies.It was all over by then.

I saw the same tour. I agree 100% .. Plant saved the show in Detroit, June 6 at Cobo, while poor Jimmy was struggling mightily..

He purposely changed his style, and it was still rocking too.
Tim Rubin Halcomb it was a bit of both in 73. Plant did have to undergo surgery on his chords due to nodules, and that completely changed his voice. He was never 100% again after that.

their first album came out when I was in mid twenties. We would smoke a few jays and listen to several records. I remember hearing them for first time. Just knew the singer and guitar player were very different and very special. Enjoyed their music ever since.
No wonder Jimmy Page said when he heard Plant sing he thought he must have had a personality problem because he couldn't believe he wasn't already a star.

Justin I Was There too at the Perth Subiaco Concert 16 of February 1972 on the day of my birthday so cool actually had a little tiny very tiny dot for the first time too wow what a concert sitting in the stands facing out into the oval standard but yeah I was there and it made me get excited every time I even think of it
