My only gripe with A+P take is the "why isn't Bezos being pressed/punished?" Is Jeff Bezos an employee of the nba? Does he have an endorsement deal with addidas? Kyrie has every right to watch that shitty movie (im happy A+P didn't promote that false movie) just like Bezos has the right have that movie on his platform.
The difference is Kyrie is an EMPLOYEE, he has a boss and has to follow certain rules just like any random joe at a normal job. Bezos on the other hand owns his company, he has no boss and his free to do almost anything he wants. This entire situation is just shitty, it shows who really cares about social issues and forms of racism or who is just a hypocrite and just cherry picks when they want to be outraged. (If this was someone promoting an anti black video we'd be having an entire different convo)
That isn't the point. That documentary has been hosted by amazon, the media said little to nothing before or after Kyrie posted about the doc. The fact that the media has put little to no pressure on amazon to stop hosting what they consider to be completely anti-Semitic content is weird.
Amazon's U.S. seller policies ban "items that Amazon deems offensive," which include products "that promote or glorify hatred, violence, racial, sexual or religious intolerance or promote organizations with such views."
So.... why isn't amazon doing anything?

I can try to demystify a few things:
The media: Jews banned from high-brow art at the time and gravitated towards what were considered the lower forms of art such as , vaudeville theatre, movies, and music were they were allowed and had a chance, so they essentially were the people originally involved with most of these industries when they were considered bad to work in or extremely low brow, when these forms of art took over jews had essentially created or pioneered most of them, leading to overrepresentation.
Law: In America in the past law in the courts was considered extremely low work like scummy, nothing important was settled in the courtroom, jews were banned from the "higher" forms of law, but eventually taking cases to court took over as the dominant form of law, as jews were the only people who practised this form of law at this point, they had a huge leg up in dealing with cases in the court room, and a massive head start, the best law firms became the jewish ones.
Banking: this is old shit, in the middle ages christians were banned from charging interest to other christians excluding them from banking entirely, loans were needed so jews were given the option to essentially be incredibly poor or bankers, often not really choice, after a few hundred years this leads to jews having lots of experience, and connections to the banking world, along with several established banks. Of course if your only career path is banking and your dad was banker you will also be a banker. This continues even to today.
Politics: Im not as well versed in this, but there are a few explanations, the jewish religion is about questioning the laws of the torah so this logic naturally extends to state laws and politics in general, Another explanation is that jews have been persecuted throughout history and naturally have a vested interest in fixing society, however they go about it, jews are not monolith ex: rothbard founder of the anarch-capitalist movement and karl marx are both jewish.

My stance has been that it's not about people actually being anti-Semitic, but more so about those people being so untouchable that you can't even voice a potential truth about them. I’m Jewish, I was raised Jewish, and this video was really valuable to me because the way I was raised never included any of the nuance to what made people think things like this.
And I watched this, and I feel like I might actually understand.
You’re right that we’re often a white passing or invisible group. You’re right about the historical oppression of black artists by Jewish execs, I mean I really get it.
And I wish the jews who talked the loudest about this could represent us all more positively by demonstrating some goddamn empathy.
I loved Jon Stewart’s piece on The Tonight Show, which had a very similar message to this, and I hope that someone finally does the work to bridge the gap in this conversation, with history, explanation, and understanding. Because it’s not like my school explained to me why there were so many jews in Hollywood, you know?
I was uncomfortable with what Kanye said and what Kyrie posted because I’ve been raised under the illusion that that’s how conspiracy theories spread, and that’s how hate begins, but now I’m honestly grateful they did it, because I’ve only just realized that all they did was say it outright. They brought tensions that we’ve been blind to for decades to the surface, finally.
I didn’t know that black audiences were so accustomed to stories about jews being exploitative, and even though I had nothing to do with it, all I want to do is somehow prove that that is not how my culture raised us to be.

I think the problem is also that since since jewish people pass, it’s hard to see regular everyday examples so when they’re overrepresented in certain fields that’s all you associate them with and then they seem more powerful than they are. For example, I’ve never met a Jewish person, and so my impressions get dominated by media portrayals.
I think Jewish people could show more empathy, but as black people we could show more empathy too. I just think this whole thing is sad bc black people and Jewish people are arguably the two racial groups that have had the toughest time historically, so we could be United but instead we’re divided bc of lack of understanding of each other…

You can read about the actual history. The very short version is that vaudeville was considered a lowbrow form of art so while others didn’t bother with it, there were jewish immigrants who gravitated towards it as performers, theater operators, etc. When the film business started, it was a natural progression for them. Once again early movies were considered a lowbrow form of art that others avoided, but Jewish immigrants with vaudeville backgrounds were early pioneers. Eventually they gravitated from New York to Hollywood where there was cheap property and they could build their own American identity. Pretty much all the major film studios were founded by Jewish people, and though they eventually sold those studios to larger corporations, Los Angeles remains as one of the two largest Jewish populations in the United States along with New York. It’s fair to say that American Jews built Hollywood. Naturally, generations of people have been born there who gravitate to the film industry in various roles. It’s not some evil grand conspiracy. It’s fair to also say that there is a generational transfer of wealth. Not everyone has the luxury of pursuing film school, but if you already have a well-off family, live in the area where the film industry dominates, and have schools with a focus on film, you are gonna be far more likely to get into the film industry than someone who grows up in a poor family in middle American. It’s a cycle that only exists because some broke ass family of Jewish people decided to chase the American dream in LA
But when the same industry has been run by the same small minority for 100 years, one has to at least admit there's probably some in-group preference/nepotism going on to keep it that way.

You guys are right, let's demystify. The reason there are so many Jewish people in entertainment and finance is based in systemic oppression. Due to anti-Semitism, Jewish people have historically been refused apprenticeships in many professions and were often banned from certain jobs and owing land by law. This left many Jewish people with fewer options to earn a living, but two of the most attainable careers to them were in entertainment which was more accessible, and also finance because the Catholic church taught that money lending was a sin and that tax collecting was shameful. This meant that in many religious cultures only non-Christians were permitted to do this financial work. So essentially, Christian societies incentivized Jewish people into choosing these professions and are now mad at them for it.
But it’s easier to ignore all that and say they got where they are by stealing from others and pretending they were never oppressed at all in the first place or some shit

Adidas lost half their earnings, not from any fallout of what Kanye, but from all the lost sales and costs from ending the business relationship. Same thing for JP Morgan. There was nothing for the shareholders in ending their business relationship with a billionaire and his businesses. Kanye has over $200 million in liquid cash, and they still closed his account and told him to go bank elsewhere.
This was not economic decisions. These were retaliatory measures because of what Kanye said.

To approach this from a different angle l, I’m from the UK and a few years back, a politician was running for PM called Jeremy Corbyn (similar to Bernie Sanders in your country) who was blackballed in the media for allegedly being an antisemite, and this charge is largely what derailed his aspirations. The reality however was that he dared speak up for Palestinians and against the Israeli state’s abuses of said Palestinians. It was a clear cut example of how accusations of antisemitism can be weaponised and called upon to assassinate someone’s character and completely destroy their reputation when needed.
And yet, nobody dares question why this is allowed to happen.
Corbyn's actions went far beyond "speaking up for Palestinians". He laid wreathes for terrorists, called Hamas and Hezbollah his friends, made a number of racist comments about British Jews, and fostered a hostile climate for Jews within Labour. And that's without getting into the whole debate on whether anti-Zionism is antisemitism (personally speaking, if someone told me that my people had no right to get their land back and had to remain exiled and powerless forever, especially after something like the Holocaust, I would most likely call them racists, yes).
If the majority of British Jews are telling you that your politics and behavior are antisemitic, it's time to consider that maybe it's not some pathological communal oversensitivity at work. Maybe the problem is you.

I don’t think it’s necessary to disparage another group’s claim to a heritage just to prop up your own. White Jews, black Jews, and brown Jews are all Jews. However, any time a group of people move to a new region (like Levantine Jews moving to Europe and Africa) they will begin to look like the local population rather quickly due to intermarriage, conversion, and epigenetic changes. Being black isn’t a disproof to Israelite heritage, and neither is being white as snow.

This is your logic. It's almost as if he generalized about all Jews, denied the holocaust, said he loved Hitler. Companies and people are free to choose not to associate with him. I think the over representation of Jewish execs in Hollywood can be chalked up to nepotism. Hollywood is an industry built on nepotism, and local Jewish communities can be very tight nit. Of course the Jewish people in positions of power in media are going to support and choose members of their own community. These execs have very clearly chosen to perpetuate a culture of exploitation and particularly black exploitation. It's unfair that they cannot be called racist because they have the shield of calling their detractors anti-Semitic. One thing that Jewish people do that others don't is that they spend a lot of time studying and debating the word of the Hebrew God. They do so as children and do so as adults. That scholarship makes them very like to succeed in pursuits where interpretation and debate are important. The rest of us are sitting around consuming the culture that is being fed to us, but for Jewish people, there is a secular life and a spiritual life and the rules are very different. They will consume and create culture, but at the end of the day, their relationship with God is all that matters. If you want to hate them for prioritizing and lifting each other up, go for it. Or you can learn from the lessons of their success and follow suit for your own community.

I think the main problem with Anti-Semitism is that neither side is ever willing to have a fact based discussion about perceptions and realities. Both sides dismiss the other side because of a history of trauma and perceived trauma. But nothing gets resolved because the cloud of perception remains.

That’s true in a way, but the response to that is way more different than Blacks than it is with Jews. While you have huge movements and various groups of minorities AND whites defending Blacks , justified or not, you don’t see that at all with Jews. Jews are the minority nobody likes, it seems, and responses to them are a lot more volatile. Often this is why Jews are more on guard defending themselves. While many public collective Jews should open themselves to criticism, many critics should also open their minds to the hypocrisy when addressing other races.
People gotta understand THIS is what *liberalism* is about, it's all atomized warfare between collections of individuals not groups, there is no "group" its hierarchy and status even beyond simple things like race & ethnicity.

This is exactly it. As a Palestinian myself, I want to point out that advocating against anti-Semitism in general takes a lot of compartmentalization. We are literally controlled and oppressed by people who happen to be Jewish, just within a bubble. We are actively experiencing consistent invasions in the Westbank, there is an active occupation, we are under siege in Gaza, but the international community minimally condemns these actions. It's completely logical for people in my community to feel the conflation of anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism is due to the possession of some conspiratorial level of control.
Antisemitism like anti black racism is ingrained in culture most people will have some of these beliefs unconsciously

The reason we can't talk about any of these things is because the moment you start having a dialog someone wants to cancel you for talking about it and accuse you of taking a side. And so people just start heading back to their corners
Well, it I think its about time, people need to stop running in their corners and bring back dialogue because if we don't if not already damaging our society with the rise of mental illness, confusions, violence on the street increase, politicians creating and incentive fears which results in misguided hate, it's up to us and people like Aba and Preach who are getting a dialogue going and having people think for once to create a better environment for all voices to be heard in a logical and rational way, frankly I think talk show needs to come back..not trash tv.
