    From 1991 and it's still a better vacuum than many sold at Costco today. Crazy.

    My mom used to have one back in the day! It was a good vacuum!

  • @MH-bl8dl
    @MH-bl8dl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I remember my mom picked one of these up from Costco (Price Club back then) when I was in elementary school for use in our finished basement. It was the first upright we had ever owned and I thought it was genius to have tools on board. It was the best of both worlds because we had only owned canisters and central vac up until that point. One of my brothers took it to college a couple of years later and that's the last I saw of it.

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Growing up, I thought the on-board tools on these looked brilliant too. Although the hose is short, the vacuum doesn't fight you at all when using them, so they worked quite well!

  • @bosetech9661
    @bosetech9661 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Also, just a suggestion on your cleaning-experiment... Ive found that raising it up a notch or two will make it pickup better. The lowest setting tends to "crowd" the brushes against the carpeting and they can't sweep properly. I could tell this was the case on your 2nd pass... When I saw some rice rolling along the rubber strip instead of being swept under the brush. But you've no doubt already figured this out! 😉

    I like the look of these older Dirt Devil Deluxe style Uprights, I had the Deluxe 8201 version of this which had the stronger 11 amp motor, and I loved it. I believe these older Dirt Devils are much better built than what they make today. I'd sure take one of these over a Featherlite.

    My aunt owned this vac in the early mid 90s she loved it so much she purchased a second one once the other stopped working they could still be found brand new up until late 90s also believe the one she had was all black. watching this gives me so much nostalgia but also realizing how it wasn’t great of a performer and had low suction although good for the standards of that time period. Any idea what retail price would’ve been on these?

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They were reasonably priced. My guess would be $129-$149 (just a guess). This early 7 amp model had lower suction and little airflow, but the later 12 amp versions of this model were more powerful.
