    I have one and I love how it picks up! I have a cat and I was shocked at how much hair was in the carpet even after my June 2023 carpet cleaning treatment. It's expensive but it will be the last floor vacuum, carpet vacuum, carpet cleaner, and air purifier I will need for a very long time

      Ours from the 80's lasted for years and years and years. I would say it was what turned me onto Rainbow vacuums as I grew up with it as I was the child in the home and we had the vacuum forever and I just thought everyone had a vacuum like that and theirs kept working throughout their full childhood as well too. We have a hobby farm and that water would be so dirty it looked like chocolate milk or like what it was, mud and fur. Never missed a beat and the accessories never broke.

    I'm glad you mentioned cleaning the separator and inlets after each use...this will keep your machine looking new....My gold 2 speed bought in 2006 looks almost just like it came out of the box... and I've used it a LOT overt the years. I agree with comment below. The black rainbow was the best model of all of them (so far)...with the blue and gold 2 speed being a close second.

    I miss my old Rainbow. One time I had it sitting (running) on top of the toilet to reach the bathroom walls. It tipped over sideways but kept running fine. That was a bit scary.

    I hear the new power nozzle does not agitate as well as the previous version, but since the airflow channels are narrow, it concentrates the suction and airflow m.

  • @compactc9
    @compactc9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I guess I just can't get over the "suction reduction' issue. But older models also had low water lift but a lot of airflow and dd well with it too. I just hoped Rexair would have kept with the Rainbow being as powerful as it was in the previous model. I definitely still love my E2 Black

      It seems like the deep cleaning is still there from what I can see.... at least with the redesigned powerhead.... The Powerhead that came out with the SRX when it was introduced was HORRIBLE... thank God they fixed that.... I agree the side brushes look kind of dumb... and would be better if the brushroll were the width of the nozzle...but I guess that's ok... as long as it's better than the previous one.... I'm really not sure what's up with that since they do SOO MUCH research and development on this... At the start of the video when he filled it with a little too much water and decided to dump it... actually, I do that all the time... fill with water about 1/2 inch above the dome and never have issues....I think they must allow for a little extra water and I think it does better..

      I would like to see this comparison too! I bought my SRX new in 2020 so have the first gen SRX powerhead. It sucks really well but is a beast & I find the quick release lever /pedal often releases itself when I vacuum under furniture. A bit of a pain. The new powerhead looks like it’s a bit smaller than mine. This is my first Rainbow vac so I have no experience with previous models or powerheads with the rotating side brushes. I wonder how that would work with berber carpet.

    I have a rainbow e2 series vacuum cleaner (blue). It is excellent, the suction power is the same as when it was bought 15 years ago, however, the parts are a little worn, they are quite fragile. Now I need your advice, should I buy SRX or should I buy rainbow e2 series (black)? Because the suction power is important to me, and I see that the SRX goes up to 60, while the others go up to 80. Practicality is not so important to me because this one is also practical for me, even if I have to change the brush and hoses when I want to vacuum the floor, as I see that with the e2 (black) and SRX models, you only need to replace the brush. Thanks in advance!

      Flushing it is the easiest option, but you could strain it first if you were concerned about that, then throw away the collected debris separately. Rainbows come with some extra work in terms of prep and teardown after vacuuming.

    Most Expensive Excrement I Have Ever Purchased!
    I used to have the gold model from the late 1980s. It was fantastic! Sadly it was given away so I wasn't able to have it refurbished.😭
    Based on that, I decided to get the new one about 2 years ago. I bought it locally and not online. I was able to speak with someone about it. He convinced me that I didn't need the extra large water tank like my old one had or any of the attachments the old one came with because the new one was more modernized. Since I had such great memories of the old Rainbow, I decided to go ahead and get the new one.
    WASTED MONEY!
    The new one is so subpar to the old one.
    Here's why you should steer clear of this machine:
    1. There is no option for a larger water tank which my big house really needs based on occupancy.
    2. The hose can not be reversed and cleared of clogs.
    3. The only way to keep the beater bar going is to constantly pull a finger trigger which is VERY uncomfortable especially with arthritis.
    4. The wheel assembly is built onto the bottom of the motor with only a hinge allowing for removal of the water tank. This means there is no way use a larger tank even if one is made available.
    5. The opening of the water tank is so small that the sludge made from the dirt and water has a difficult time coming out. I have to use my hand to remove most of it. 😡
    6. The suction is ok but still leaves particles in the carpet. The old one did not.
    7. The weight isn't that bad unless you have stairs.
    8. Can't speak too much about the durability because mine is only about 2.
    9. The price was pretty steep; over $3+K. I also have an Electrolux that is also too small and does a similar job but only cost $200 about 6 years ago.
    The only good thing about this vacuum is that IF you have any bugs ( fleas, spiders, roaches, etc.) they will drown in the water. Not a great selling feature.

    I love that the latest SRX went back to the PN12 design that was used on the E2 Black, those do have better airflow at the head (and I love those rotating edge cleaning brushes) compared to that oddball designed powerhead that almost looked like a PN2/PNe design. Though I'm not a fan of how the SRX has identical water lift levels to a vintage D series (Seriously Rexair, that's quite a downgrade!), I do believe the predecessor, E2 Black is the superior model.

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally agree with your comment. I have the E2 black model, first version with the centre flatbelt nozzle (I wish I could get the V2 serpentine belt style) and think that, with its flaws like the lack of easy to change basin and the machine end hose connector that leaks when pulled, it's the best machine Rexair has made with the D4 SE being a close second.

    They do work good but it is like hauling around a shop vac through your house. And you have to take it apart, fill the tub with water, put it back together then pull it around the house. We like ours but pretty much never use it. We bought a Ryobi cordless stick vacuum and love it. You just grab it and walk around the house cleaning. Not cords or huge vacuum to pull around. When we finish vacuuming with the Ryobi, I charge the battery (which takes about 2 hours) and put it back on the vacuum and it is ready to go for the next time I want to use it. And I can clean the entire 2,400 sf house on just 1 charge.

      When I was a little kid and into my teenage life, we had the D2 since it was the newest model available. For literally decades I had always wanted to outright buy one of these vacuum systems. I finally bought my first Rainbow earlier this year. Still lives up to how great it was back when the D2 was the newest model. Speaking of the power nozzle, the D2's power nozzle had a hard plastic strip that resembled a speed bump on the roller. So the power nozzles of that time had both a brush strip and a plastic bump on the roller. Combine the great suction with the beating and brushing, so much dirt & dust was pulled out of the carpets with it.

I have to pick this up and hold it while walking backwards. the hose is just long enough to get in the way of we walking while doing this. the weight of the hose on the handle makes it to where you have to adjust it just so that it doesnt fall over. also, when you go to pull it to advance in your vacuuming, it doesnt track well and tends to run into tables and the like (which isnt good if they are antiques, or have fragile items on them). id rather get a shark for the vacuum, and a rainmate knockoff for air filtration.

      The brushroll is wood with ball bearings on the ends. Not a bad design as far as I can tell.

      I have that one & yes it is a big beast but it works very well, especially on my 2 floors of annoying berber carpet.
      Wonder why they switched from metal bar to wood?

    It's all about the airflow! More or less suction doesn't make it better or worse at cleaning!

    • @VacTech1
      @VacTech1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is true, airflow and agitation are more important. I’m just dubious of the 30% airflow increase claims, due to the 30% drop in suction.

    • @WJCTechyman
      @WJCTechyman ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VacTech1Well, @VacLab demonstrated how much suction you get on one of those gauges with a suction cup. He had gotten about 40" of water lift. This is more or less the average Kirby. Kirby machines, at least the new ones move a lot of air, up to and including 150 CFM. Also, suction really matters if you are lifting water, say through carpet extraction. but airflow is what is used for cleaning. Another kind of vacuum that probably has little suction are those inline-4 Kubota diesel powered leaf collectors you see your municipality use in the fall and those things can move wet, matted leaves with little or no issue.

      @@VacTech1I talked to a rainbow technician who told me that when the airflow increases, the suction decreases.
