I pretty much share Mrs. Lab's feelings with the bagless Elite Rewind I used to have: nice to push, but a bit top-heavy. Wonder if it would be possible to weasel in a spring-assist along the main pivot axis at the non-belt end of the motor...
The reason that the dirt devil feather lite has so much airflow is that it has a very decent dirt cup design were there is only one filter and the second reason is that it has it has a short hose and you can make it longer

Another reason is the Dirt Devil's large diameter feeder hose.
on the hoover i pushed it with my palm under the handle i feel that's where the lightest part of the vacuum is helps it glide
