For me fault diagnosing on these modern day cars absolutely fascinates me! The amount of knowledge required and gained! I can watch “all day” you really show how complex modern day engines are! And your work ethic! also you always seem to work as a team with your staff
Also when you think how much data we can get on a laptop now, when you think it used to be strobe light and feeler gauges, maybe a vac pump if you were posh, the rest was by ear(pinking) or colour of spark plugs lol
When my son started as an apprentice tech the first thing I told him was get good at diagnosis above all else. He took that advice and is now highly paid with a company car and very few techs get a car to drive. Diagnosis is a learned art and something that can't be taught.
100% agree the best technician I know always used to buy heavily depreciated cars he could not afford to fix. Just meant he learnt to rebuild everything and ensured if he was buying parts it was the right one
I originally came to the channel and got hooked watching you rebuild an rs3 engine. How you rebuilt it in an almost robotic way oozing knowledge and explaining everything you did as you went along as well as detailing the exact reason for its failure in the first place, was amazing. I reckon your best content is showing us what you do how you do it and the end results. Not too arsed about the bikes (sorry just not into em) don’t mind the odd bit of showboating round a track (now and again at most) but I enjoy watching you and the lads work miracles on the things in the workshop. There are very few people as capable as you and your team (if at all) - and it’s addictive watching your skills play out.
Just keep doing the stuff that your business is all about. That’s why people watch, the interest for me, is just watching professionals doing a great job. It generates its own humour and drama, keep it real and you’ll always get a following.
Love your videos Stick to day to day running of your business and videos of that I’ve been in this trade 30 years and people don’t understand the pressure you am under to find a fault with a car And the relief you get from finding a fault
Diag video’s are great, as a mechanic it’s fascinating to learn by watching people better than yourself. Also more bike video’s? Race bike prep, between race weekends, repairs, etc… I’m biased because I love bikes but I would 1000% watch more bike content
I love the diag videos. I’m a dealer tech and love seeing different ways of doing things. Love seeing how early direct injection stuff is holding up. Keep up the great work.
Another great video. I much prefer the diagnostic, technical and catch up videos than the projects. You can see projects anywhere but only you can do these deep dives. Keep up the good work.
Keep to the routes of why you wanted a channel coz thats what got us all hooked, diagnosing step by step and engine builds. Your knowledge is more valuable than anything and ur attention to detail when strippping cleaning and rebuilding is on another level too. keep it up. P.S Ric did say Callum was lazy :P.
One of your best releases to date imo. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Great diagnostic analysis, technical strip and rebuild, great father and son moments and a fixed Audi. Top stuff. Personally, I think more videos of diagnosing and fixing shop cars along with playtime activities when they occur would be worth putting some time into. See how it goes for a while then change formula as needed. I'd love more bike videos personally, I thought the MotoGP aero one was one of the best. Keeping customers happy and providing for your family come before TH-cam I reckon........ All the best to Karl in his new venture.
Keep on doing what you like, be yourself and do not worry about pleasing everyone on youtube, I understand the time and effort that you put in these videos. At the end of the day you have to enjoy it and that will hopefully translate into in views and subscription. Personally I watch every single video you made and appreciate the work you guys are doing.!
Got to agree with most. Fault diagnosis on b4stard cars will never be boring, never. You are experts at it and we all learn, so keep on doing it. Indifferent to bikes so cant comment.
Just love the channel and watch whatever you release to be fair. I do enjoy the diagnostic stuff and being a biker I do love anything to do with the bikes. Keep up the great work guys and look forward as always to the next one.
"Move out"???? Pay mortgage/rent, council tax, gas-lecy and every other cost BOLLOCKS TO THAT. Stay at home as long as you can kidda. Great video gentlemen cheers.
Love these vids! Love the character building as well! RS4 is the car I've always loved but never had a chance to own. Vids of what you have to deal with day to day will give people insight and maybe help them be more understanding when it comes to wait times. Whatever projects you do I think has to be VAG, not Japanese, so what about engine swap into older cars? Or fitting turbos to R8s or Lambos? I think the idea of buying a broken supercar and fixing/modifying at the same time is a good way to go
Very interesting. I am in New Zealand and have had the engine on my rs4 rebuilt due to broken valve spring including sleeved block and pretty much new everything. Probably doesn’t make economic sense. I do have similar issues with hesitation under light load when cold so may need to have the pumps looked at.The car only has 65000km but I guess age takes its toll.
Loving the content, the banter is very entertaining. The knowledge you share is so mid blowing. I think the problem is that you're running a business that the youtube channel promotes and slips in and out of. The business is the priority and not youtube. It's easy for people that have made a business from youtube to perhaps not understand the difference. I say keep doing what you're passionate about and the lovers will love and the haters will hate but keeping you happy is whats important. Keep up the good work and thank you for delivering amazing entertaining content.
Stick to what you know and what you enjoy working on. The loyal fans will stick with you all the way. I have to say that what you all do within the field you work in, is great. I love the both format of vids a week. 👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻
great relationship with your son, would have given anything for the same when i was a lad. Whatever about REP you are already a massive success in life.
I've absolutely loved the B7 RS4 ever since it rolled off the production line and often consider buying one....but unfortunately, I just couldn't live with the low teens MPG issue😩
Great Video Ricky! At least I know that you will know what you're looking for when I bring my RS4 down to you when it requires fixing or servicing👍🏻 Like the fact your teaching your son along the way...
I’ve not seen many issues with these types of pumps but I experienced the same symptoms on an A3 2.0 TFSI recently and ended up doing the same as you with replacing the pump and the brass valve. The car drove sweet after that.
Hi Ricky. Love the channel and, in particular, your work ethic. Doing things correctly and even, in some cases, better than the factory is something that few workshops do. It's refreshing to see the attention to detail you and your guys take and you're possibly the best example of "doing things properly" I've seen. RE future content I'd like to share my thoughts. It seems to be that the videos that do well appeal to two distinct demographics of 1. realistic for the viewer to achieve and 2. Complete fantasy purchase for the viewer. Middle of the road content doesn't seem to attract the same kind of numbers. Given that nobody understands TH-cam anyway I'd like to offer a suggestion. More buyers guides. You're knowledge base and experience would make for an incredibly helpful resource for buyers. Personally I watch all of your videos as even if I don't particularly like the content like the bike stuff (sorry) because the banter is as entertaining as the subject matter. Keep the content coming.
Hi Ricky, I have been in this trade for over 40 years, the last 12, running our own business. We build and prepare classic race cars, from the 60's onwards. Time after time, trying to save a customer money equals us losing money to do so. It's just the two of us, me & my Son, hard enough to pay the bills and ourselves these days. Bear in mind the owners are often far more wealthy than we will ever be ! Good luck mate, losing key staff at this time is making your life harder, we understand how you feel.
Always do stuff you enjoy, doing cars just for content is like having a job you hate. I've filmed stuff I'm never using and now focusing my T5 (gets views) & Corrado TDI swap (no views! but is my daily of choice)
Good job lad, I'm sure there was a TPI for misfire under load that said replace the pumps as a pair on the RS4. Thought you would have known that as a old tec support bod!😂 Keep up the good work Ric and want more new workshop tours👍🏻
As a sign off quote, I think that your son needs to learn "look listen and learn" not being rude, I really hope I'm not being too forward, but always watch your videos and I really enjoy the content, many thanks Mr May

I’ve seen issues with injectors using E10 fuel. It destroyed the mesh filters and caused them to move around and block the fuel from getting to the injectors
