Ricky is not only a great tuner and master mechanic but also a great and decent person! Ricky and the whole team at REPerformance are top guys, super knowledgeable, friendly, honest and always willing to help, without seeing the customers like walking wallets (as some other workshops do)! I am very glad that I came to know Ricky and the team and he is looking after my cars! I cannot say enough great words for these guys!
Ricky is the R8/Audi/Lamborghini:V10 Whisperer... He's the guy I trust with my 1-of-333 R8 GT... Straight talking, no nonsense, tell you how it is, got the answers every time! I've now got even more respect for him after seeing this. Great job on the podcast!
I stumbled on Ricky’s channel a year ago and immediately knew “this guy knows his onions”. Sounds like he & I had similarly unmentionable upbringings. That can make or break a person. I got help & I offer a prayer of thanks to them most days.
By a country mile, Ricky's interview & mat Armstrong's are the peak of interest in my eye's. Genuine blokes who have started with nothing & built through sweat & tears & real inspirational business plan & succeeded.
Ive only recently discovered Ricky. Ive been a petrolhead all my life and a paint technician for the past 3 years. Hands down this bloke is fascinating. Were the same age, yet he is totally inspirational to me. His degree of knowledge is by far the best. I could listen to 'experts' in certain fields all day long. Ricky is an expert but hasnt got his head up his own arse. Classy. Excellent podcast. Looking forward to the drive home to listen to him.
What a great interview, to see Ricky in a completely different light, the ups and downs of building his business. Suprisingly finding someone with views on life similar to mine. Him not being ashamed to say you are the best at something. As I was told many years ago, never underestimate yourself and don't mistake confidence for arrogance.
Only recently started following REPerformance and love watching Rickys YT videos. Clearly incredibly skilled, talented and hard working with his heart in the right place. Great interview and an interesting insight in to how he's got to where he is.
Love Ricky, he’s a great lad. Talks a lot of sense and is very down to earth. Admire him greatly after coming from nothing to where he is now. Stumbled across his channel about a year ago through the algorithm of bikes. I have very little interest in cars any more but always watch his content.
Ricky is a real one! No hairs and graces. I would love to shadow him for a day the knowledge he has is mind boggling. I could listen to him for hours. Loved this all the best to you both 👌
Seen this guy pop up a few times, what a real, down to earth fella. Pride in his work, humble and solid priorities of his life. No wonder he’s a success. Subscribed to his channel!
I don't normally watch podcasts, but that was excellent 👌 Really intriguing to hear Ricky's amazing stories, and how he succeeded to get where he is today!
Ricky is a very rare person these day's ... genuine ... his TH-cam channel is always a pleasure to watch ...he could talk about the different colours of dog turds and people would still watch .
Definitely worth adding to my previous comment. Its hard to compliment yourself without sounding arrogant. Yet, Richy just done it perfectly and id agree with him. Shout to Ian at Lichfield and Jurgen at JM Imports. Those guys are the mental 'bar' that Ricky looks up to, those are big names in that field. Imagine being up there with those boys. Amazing. Jurgen and JM are local to me, legendary. Jurgens story is legendary too, just like Rickys. Ive not heard a lot about Ian but man, players!!
This was brilliant on both sides. Very well matched interview and a great incite into how Ricky built up his business. Ricky if you ever hit hard times look me up. You've come too far to lose it all.
Absolutely one of the best interviews I've ever seen. He explains the grit and drive it takes to go into your own business and keep the doors open on a day to day. I watch the Reptuning videos but I now have even more respect for Ricky as a genuine person, family man and husband. Keep up the awesome work 👏 in everything you do in life
I see Ricky has given a very interesting and honest open conversation of the "highs and lows" from his beginnings to his present day. He has shown by sheer termination and extremely hard work, that it has paid off with his success and his own "brand name" is esteem within the performance name's of the car manufacturing world....... Now that's impressive. 👍👍
Can’t really find the words to describe how good it was to watch this upload apart from fantastic love listen to the stories and what goes on behind the scenes of running a business 👍
Ricky's an absolute legend, listened to the podcast to the end while doing some work on my own stuff and it's been inspirational. Based car choice as well with the LB Celica!
Ricky is just an amazing bloke and his team are amazing and his Queen holds it all together for him I wish him all the success in the world he truly deserves it thanks for this vid m8 given us an even deeper insight to his life and business.
Great video, I follow Ricky and REPerformance and it's really interesting to learn about his past and about his total commitment to business, but more importantly his family...his honesty and passion is amazing .,👍
This is the most humbling interview, Rick you are a huge talent with the inspiration, Drive and will to continue growing #RePerformance into whatever aspirations keep you going. A humble, top example of making your own future from starting at the bottom to now owning your very own business which will undoubtedly continue to grow beyond all likely expectations! A real genuine guy who has risked a lot but also a has stood tall at the harshest of times and put family first. Your videos are great and so informative, your following will only continue to grow and it’s great to see a great local business succeed when it’s had, like many the worst economic scenarios thrown at it particularly the last few years. Each time I take my boy to the skate park it’s so tempting just to try and pop in, could spend all day just listening to you and again take heart from what you have and continue to achieve and no doubt with your mentality and heart you will only continue to make RePerformance a name here to stay. Hats off and nothing but praise for all you have and continue to achieve! 👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
“I’m turning 24 and known you 10 years since I was 16 17” wtf!!! Let Ricky do the numbers 🤣 Happy new year boys. Found you both through Matt and Chris 👍
At first enjoyed watching Mat Armstrong, but became more of the same, But recently started watching you. Why I come away having learned something new Thanks Ricky for sharing a small bit of your knowledge
Just watch ur video , loved it pal I was so alike when I own my own garage as a mechanic , I hated cars loved bikes , ur views weee same as mine , I’ve left motor trade now an went work elsewhere, but also work for Pirelli for bsb , love it more than any motor ! Keep up the great vlogs m8 an come say hi if at any bsb round pal 👍👍
A great interview. I always watch the REP vids on YT so its nice to have this further insight into Ricky and hear his very sage view on life - which I think is spot on. Cheers 😊
I thought I was the only one who came straight off the track and drove home, still had my leathers on. Never realised how quick as I was going until I arrived home. Through the lanes from Brands to Hastings. Also had a funny one end of race again at Brands, shut off changed down headed into paddock and lifted my visor, big mistake!!!!
I really enjoyed this podcast . You both speak at brake neck speed & I could bearly follow the line of conversation. Both of you are very skilled at what you do . I had subscribed & looking forward to more of the same .
I have to take my hat off to you Ricky, I was unsure of the first couple of vids that I watched, you came across quite cocky. But actually you can be like that as you have the knowledge to back it up. Great stuff.
When talking about where the clients come from. I will never forget one where his missus was arguing about the cost and the husband was like "Why are you going on about the cost woman, the money is never going to run out" 🙃
Small world it seems. Hi from an Ex Powerstation engine builder / tuner.. Why the F I never did YT or did more track racing I don't know. (I do know) I've literally grown up taking engines apart (built an A series before I even had a licence) My motorsport career ended in 2015 and spent the last 10 years in the wilderness without a workshop of my own, so have been twiddling my thumbs and going insane in the meantime... It's only falling over Mat Armstrongs channel recently that has poked me in the eye and made me realise I have wasted my life away (too stupid to realise) My work buddy at Powerstation went to Litchfield (i mean we worked together anyway and it would have been an easy choice) but I couldn't stomach working for that pay knowing the financials of the GTR scene (Subaru scene was already over and it's no surprise we folded) Ooof....
To be fair this was filmed months ago. Since then i have had more training pn how to structure and speak better! Check out one of the last couple of episodes before this and they should be very different 😃
Soo much to relate re the business and Covid etc. Very similar to me. Covid I was litteraly working 24hrs a day 7days a week just to keep up. But you have to do what I takes to pay the bills.
I know who he is, and I hope he gets the recognition that he deserves. He seems to be only really for the people in-the-know. Mat and Freddie are jovial and really admirable workers, but this guy really knows his shit. :D
Only thing with brining your residential property in to your business is when you sell up for your retirement you can end up paying capital gains tax on any increase / profit on the property value. There are ways around it by buying the property through a self investment pension. Like so many things in business it’s vital to work from scratch with a trustworthy accountant. Either way good luck mate, anyone with your work ethic will always succeed.
Ricky’s business mentor is right. While you might have to run your business off your bank account, you may have to initially, knowing you’ve got to get out of that trap asap.
Great podcast. Been following Ricky for a while now! If your after more automotive business owners stories pop me an email. I had some pretty serious mental health issues and was homeless for 10 years. 5byears ago I finally got my shit together started my business and absolutely nailed it. I’d love to get my story out there and give some inspiration for other homeless people.
Hi mate yes this one was released on the old fishing channel and then lost when we moved over. Thought it deserved a proper edit and a place on the channel for the future etc!
Honestly if money was no object I'd just have a Caterham built from new to my specs for hill climb, sprint and auto tests etc and keep my Audi A4. I've done the Porsche's and fast German cars and fast Japanese stuff.. never had a super car but I'll never own an F40 so the rest doesn't matter 😂 (I'm also the same age as Ricky and yes, F40 is king 👑).
Ricky is not only a great tuner and master mechanic but also a great and decent person! The way he talks about his family 👌🏻. He’s already successful with his family that everything else comes 2nd 👏🏻

Absolutely no sly bragging in that comment at all 😅
@@bryanscott2072ha ha, not intentionally lol 😅

Sounds like he & I had similarly unmentionable upbringings.
That can make or break a person. I got help & I offer a prayer of thanks to them most days.
Could listen to Ricky all day. Proper down to earth bloke who loves just to chat about engines etc.
By a country mile, Ricky's interview & mat Armstrong's are the peak of interest in my eye's.

Awesome. I used to make the Audi TV commercials, it was a blast. I wish I knew how to build cars though!
Ricky is such an insightful guy and a big inspiration. Great podcast.
Ricky is a real one! No hairs and graces. I would love to shadow him for a day the knowledge he has is mind boggling. I could listen to him for hours. Loved this all the best to you both 👌

Of course we know who Ricky is. He built the engine for the fastest Skoda at Bonneville!
I have to take my hat off to you Ricky, I was unsure of the first couple of vids that I watched, you came across quite cocky. But actually you can be like that as you have the knowledge to back it up.

To be fair this was filmed months ago. Since then i have had more training pn how to structure and speak better! Check out one of the last couple of episodes before this and they should be very different 😃
Yep, god gave us two ears and one mouth

Good luck to ricky an whatever he dose ❤
Mat Armstrong leaning on electronics comes to mind.
I know who he is, and I hope he gets the recognition that he deserves. He seems to be only really for the people in-the-know.
Mat and Freddie are jovial and really admirable workers, but this guy really knows his shit. :D
Success… is what makes you smile the most. You could have 10p 10g or 10mill, it just come down to that feel good factor.
44:00 ... 2nd time to the channel. I'm glad you apologised for butting in, it's a fucking pain in EVREYONE'S arse!
I can’t find this chaps Webb site
Did Ricky owned a yellow mk2 leon cupra featured on TH-cam???
He is not as good guy as some of you think.
But I won't air laundry publicly.
But that's life.

why did the engine break? Dodgy spark plug and a misfire? What gets damaged in that instance, that can't be fixed?
Great podcast. Been following Ricky for a while now! If your after more automotive business owners stories pop me an email. Ricky success to me is going wild water swimming in wildboarclough every summer and it cost zero ..not a parking warden anywhere.🌈✌️
Swindon isn’t in the Cotswolds 😂 don’t kid yourself
Lol: My Mum had a 70's Celica ST.. Nothing ever went wrong with it.
