That's the badass Duane Allman doing the electric slide action. He died in his late 20s from a motorcycle accident I think but he had a helluva sound. He was very much inspired by Elmore James.
Duane took the slide, added jet engines to it and rewrote the book on electric blues guitar. Add Dickey’s masterful playing and songwriting and I’m in audio heaven.

What did I miss? True to form Brad. Llex as usual, on point. Seeing the Allman Brothers Band back in the day was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The Fillmore East made it all the more special.
These guys had talent to burn. When Duane Allman finally convinced his little brother Gregg to come and sing for the newly formed band Allman Brothers Band, Gregg had never heard them play before. He said in his autobiography when he walked into the rehearsal room and heard them play for the first time he almost collapsed. He said he'd never heard anything like it and was just blown away.
My folks were post hippie generation and listened to these type of bands while I was growing up and I'm happy I was exposed to these bands at a young age, it helped me to become the musician I am today. Great choice guys!
You got that right on Greg Allman's voice is incredible. His older brother Duane Allman played slide. He was killed before this album was released. He died from a motorcycle accident. oddly one year later the bass player, Barry Oakley died on his motorcycle in roughly the same neighborhood as Duane's wreck.
I have been spamming for this song for 6 months and glad you finally got to it. They used to play the Beacon Theater in NYC every March for 20 nights. I miss those shows so much, every year I would hit at least 4.

Well, that's close.....Derek became an "official Brother" in 99 when he was 20 and stayed until the end in 2014. He did sit in during those years mentioned.

He was riding too fast and ran into a truck that had turned left in front of him. Duane said that whenever he was in Georgia he always ate a peach for peace.
