Gregg Allman wrote this song, played organ, and did the lead vocals. He was only 21 years old at the time and he kicks out amazing vocals like he's been singing the blues for 40 years or more.

Duane Allman is one of the Greatest Guitar Players ever. His slide guitar work is the GREATEST EVER. Rolling Stone magazine ranked him as the Number #2 Rock Guitar player, behind only Jimi Hendrix Listen to the Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore East and you will know why. I'd argue that they're the best southern rock/blues band and their lead guitarist Duane Allman (rest in peace) was one of the best slide guitarists to ever play. If you check them out again I'd highly recommend their song "Dreams". That song is a total vibe.

This isn't my favorite song that y'all have reacted to, but it IS one of my favorite reactions because it brings out the magic in you both. Lex- The Guru. Brad- The Professor. You both approach the songs so differently but I respect both so much. Lex just wants to FEEL. She rides the wave and goes where it takes her. She's prepared to love every one of these songs. She's WANTS to believe. I love that!
But Brad... Brad's a thinker. He seeks to UNDERSTAND. Because intentions matter! He wants to analyze, categorize, and assign. If I could, I'd give him an authentic card catalog for his birthday. He deserves it.

Greg Allman had a great voice for bluesy Southern rock, and with Duane and the rest they were GREAT! I saw them live more times than my old memory could ever begin to remember. I really love “One Way Out” ... but not only because it's a great song but it almost exactly tells the story of what happened to one of my best friends. "Ain't but one way out baby, Lord I just can't go out the door/Ain't but one way out baby, and Lord I just can't go out the door/'Cause there's a man down there, might be your man I don't know/Lord you got me trapped a woman, up on the second floor/If I get by this time I won't be trapped no more/So raise your window baby, I can ease out soft and slow."

Great reaction! The Allman Brothers, Dwayne and Gregg, are about as Southern Rock as you can get! 4 days after Cher divorced Sonny Bono she married Gregg Allman, but she filed for divorce about a week later because of his heroine and alcohol use! She also lived with Gene Simmons of Kiss for a few years back in the 70's! You should consider doing some Cher music! She was the great grandmother of Lady Gaga and even the grandmother of Madonna! Cher's been kicking it since the 60's and if you think it was easy for a Native American to make it during the 60's, she was also fighting gender inequality! Why they haven't made a movie about her baffles me! Watch her video of her on a horse singing Half-Breed, her TV shows of the Sonny & Cher Hour, her solo music career, her movie career, she's conquered every form of media there's been since the 60's! That deserves some recognition! The movie Mask is pretty good too if you haven't seen it. She plays a biker chick with a kid who has a big lion face and he dates blind chicks, it's really wild but she does an amazing job in it!

Great memories right there. The brother of our guitarist used to play Bass guitar for the "Allman Joys" when they were still a local band. We recorded 1/2 an album at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami in early 1970. We walked in and Duane Allman was kicked back on the couch in the front office playing acoustic guitar. Great memories. The first "rock" band to have two drummers.

Frank Zappa covered this on his Them or Us album from 1984. There are a great live version with keyboard player Bobby Martin on vocals. From the same concert are the classic Bobby Brown Goes Down followed up by Bobby Martin singing He"s So Gay. Funny stuff. Also shown on the number Stevie's Spanking with Steve Vai on guitar. Zappa made a live album in 1986 called Does Humor Belong in Music. Some of the things they did would probably shock people today
