- Klints is calling out for Mom and gets up and does a tiny hop at 0:53! Adorable as the chick does a little wing flap and almost face plants. Spilve comes back to the nest at sunset and has a very sweet exchange with Klints and tucks him/her in for the night! You can tell how much she loves her baby! Thank you for watching!

Virsis, a Golden Eagle male, and Spilve, a newly-mature Golden Eagle female, breed in their artificial nest, which was installed in 2010. Most recently the eagles successfully breed here in 2016. The nest is located in a bog on an island managed by the Latvian State Forests. Last year a female (Spilve) appeared regularly but she was too young to breed. For 2020, Spilve laid two eggs - on March 28th and April 1st. Egg #1 is non viable & egg #2 hatched on May 10, 2020.

I just love watching Spilve and Klints together. She snuggles with and gently allopreens her baby and watches over him/her with awe and adoration. My heart is melting!
Excellent photography...amazing starting.. very very loving conversation between mom and Child....great smile of the nest with Fantastic sounds...kid's voice wow!!!!!!
Klints's a little cutie; love beakies and preening from mom! Love the eaglets at this stage wish they never grew up.

I love the little chirps, sounds so cute! This little baby has grown so much, the little hop is adorable. Mom tries to tuck in her baby, but this little one doesn't want to go to sleep just let. Love how she cares for her little one. What a great Mom!

You are welcome!! This is my first golden eagle nest to watch with a new chick! It is really interesting watching how they raise their chick - there are no fish here so all prey is mammal or birds!

I get nervous when he gets too close to the edge of the nest... careful, baby. Nest is kinda small compared to other eagle nests, especially the bald eagles. Also love the attention they pay to each other. Haven't really seen the dad. Again, thank you, Lady Hawk for all you do in creating these videos.

...Virsis is a bit of a silent hero in this script, always on the hunt, and very, very nervous around the baby.
I think this is their first ever eaglet, so he is just making sure to not get in the way unless he has to (their talons are huge). Like the mother, he too seems to be quite a 'gentle' Golden eagle, though visibly, appears to be a little older than young Spilve

OMG, these 2 are quite the pair!! Very demonstrative and tactile, between mother and chick. They remind me of our golden eagles and white chicks. I was afraid Klints was going to go up and over the nest, the way he was moving towards the right side. TYVM, LH, for a glimpse into this nest in Latvia.

Several days ago they changed roles. Virsis was babysitting for quite a long time while Spilve went hunting and later brought food to the nest. Virsis is not as affectionate as Spilve
Hello Marley - In this nest so far, the male has not been as active in the parenting of the chick but he is the main provider of prey. Spilve is controlling the nest and raising their chick - it may be because she is a new first time Mom. In other GE nests I have seen the male active in brooding and feeding of the chicks.
