    I love cooking on the Q! I use mine camping all summer and a favorite is pizza on the grill. I cheat and use the pizza crust like Pillsbury, cut it in half and grill it one side flip, ad buffalo sauce, cooked chicken and cover with cheese! You can't go wrong with pizza dough and the Q. And for dessert, just cook the other half of the dough on one side, butter it up and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar!

    • @GallaghersGrub

  • @victorbenner539
    @victorbenner539 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Glad to see you use the "Q". However doing pizza is a true natural on the kettle and the reason is simple. You can really crank up the heat in the kettle, way above what the "Q" can reach. Wood fired pizza is all the rage and deservedly so. So get a pizza stone or use the Lodge cast iron pizza "stone" and have a party. Great stuff, keep on grilling. 😃🔥🔥🔥

    Can’t wait to try this on my new to me Weber Q300. I do have a question though. What did you do with the rest of the pizza dough after it initially rose? Don’t you have to cook it right away? It’s just me so I’m thinking I may cut a piece of dough, let it rise, and refrigerate the rest.

    • @GallaghersGrub
      @GallaghersGrub  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cooked it a day later and it seemed fine. But only rising the piece you are going to use right away may be a better idea. It could make a difference, but I cannot say for certain.

    Thank you. But I noticed temp was around 400 when you put pizza on with toppings. But when you checked it at 3 min temp was under 300. Did you lower temp when you put pizza on?

    • @GallaghersGrub
      @GallaghersGrub  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe that when the pizza goes onto the grill, it blocks the direct heat from going straight up to the thermometer so it reads a lower temp.
      That said, since the heat source is coming from the bottom, it won't get as hot on top, so you should use precooked sauce, garlic, vegetables...

    Hey my friend.
    Awesome video as always. I just had the same idea a few days ago.
    I have a question: I oiled also the other side before I put the pizza with toppings on the grill. Did you do that too and just missed to show it on your video or does it work without?
    Concerning the dough I got a good hint from an Italian pizza cook. He told me not to flatten it out with a rolling pin or as you did with an excellent Chianti :)))
    It needs to be done by hand using the fingertips first and then the entire hand. This way helps against air in the dough as he said.
    To be true, I have to check that again.
    Dearest regards and thanks again for sharing your video
    Thumb up
    Dee

    • @GallaghersGrub
      @GallaghersGrub  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      After a couple of practice runs this week, I determined that oil is unnecessary for the second side.
      I think rolling out the dough is fine for the home cook, but yeah the pros will spin it around and toss it up in the air.

  • @stevenstucco

    • @GallaghersGrub
      @GallaghersGrub  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I grilled at least 6 pizzas over the past two weeks to prep for this video and have found that you don't need to oil the second side. I'm thinking this is because the dough after the initial cook is no longer raw enough to stick to the grates. Good catch, Stephen!

      I worked on the pizza thing till I got it right. I bought two pizza 10" stones. I use one in the Weber Q and the other to prepare the pie. I use it as a pattern to cut the pie, to stack the pie and transfer it to the warmed stone on the grill. I use aluminum foil the size of the stone under it in the grill. I also use two stainless dowels between the aluminum foil and the stone. It lets the stone heat up evenly, without hot spots.
      It sounds like a PITA and it is but you're turning a bar b q into a pizza oven that works! And works good!
