Thinking about getting a propane or gas grill? Check out my beginner's guide video : th-cam.com/video/abTP4v2mtbI/w-d-xo.html
You need more wind-chimes, I almost heard you.
Lol, I’ll ask the neighbor to add a few more
Yeah stopped the video halfway. Hopefully I didn't miss out on anything important.
lol, when your neighbours own windchimes, you own windchimes. 😂
Yep Dueling Wind Chimes!
Maybe next time you do the video since you're obviously the expert 👍
This is the first tutorial which clearly explains the kettle vents. Bottom vents for main large temperature changes, top vents for minor changes!! Thank you for the great video
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thank you.
Great teacher for sure.
I've used a kettle for years and this was VERY informative; one of the best kettle vids I've seen!
Wow, thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed the video
This is really in-depth and informative for a beginner griller.
I'm just starting off and I would have never checked the manual for the pre-burn.
Saved me a hassle and gave me new inspiration to learn grilling as a skill.
I appreciate it.
I’m glad I could help. Happy grilling
I inherited my Weber from my Dad. He got it from the local Chrysler deal in 1978 when he bought a new Chrysler New Yorker... 45 yrs later, still going strong...
That’s awesome!
Hey, just bought a kettle. Just came here to say I loved your video, thanks for all the explanations. At least I know where to start now :)
Wind chimes are peaceful man! I enjoyed the touch! Thank you for your time making this video
Bro, I’ve been listening & watching as my coals are burning. I’m now motivated to use my Weber grill more often. 👍🏼
You got this! 💪
A little known tip regarding air flow and placement of the lid. The weber kettle lid was designed to have vent pointed at the leading leg. Then direct the leading leg towards the predominant wind direction
This creates the most efficient air control. Not always easy to do, but best practice per the manufacturer. How did I find this information out? I've been selling and using Weber grill equipment for 39 years. Just reconditioned and sold my 39 year old Weber kettle. Bought master touch. Love it. I also own the Weber Smokefire Ex4, Weber Smokey Mountain cooker 14". Homer Simpson Smokey Joe and a Weber propane Gold B grill. I like to cook. I love to eat. 😉
Thanks for sharing your experience!
I don't understand what you mean by "have vent pointed at the leading leg"? Which vent? And the leading leg is the one without the wheel?
@@ronjourard5013 The leading leg is the leg without the wheel. The vent in the lid should align with leading leg. Hope that helps.Thank you.
@tomwadek this calls for a collab. Maybe a cook off. See who is crowned the Webber Wizard.
Use an onion to clean your grill grates. Safe, organic, delicious. Get the grill up to temp and with a cut in half onion scrub the grates with the onion half on a pair of tongs. For extra dirty jobs feel free to use the 2nd half of the onion.
Thanks for the tips!
Been doing this for years! I love when heads turn when I’m wiping down a hot grill with a white onion 💪🏽
why an onion instead of just a metal brush?
@@AsTheWheelsTurn The liquid in the onion steams when it hits the hot grill grates. The hot steam cleans better than the dry brush.
Great tips, I feel confident starting to work with the weber now, thanks Tom!
After about 20yrs w/gas, I'm going back to charcoal & this guy explains everything well. Thanks Tom for a terrific video.
No problem. Glad I could help!
Hank Hill won't like you if you use charcoal.
@@David-bf6pl lol. I remember there was an episode where hank tried charcoal and like it lol
What common issue did I forget to address? Leave me you question below. Also, check out my full review on the master touch premium: th-cam.com/video/y5UxTgt3XFY/w-d-xo.html
Great, no-nonsense video. Thanks
Thanks Tom great video-really appreciate you taking the time to make it.
Glad it was helpful!
To avoid accidentally swallowing a lose metal bristle, even when using a high end grate brush is to use an onion. Cut an onion in half and after the brush has been used, go over the grates with one half of the onion to pick up any left behind bristle, plus it add a great aroma to area. The other half you can throw some butter lemon pepper seasoning and wrap it in aluminum foil. At the end you will have some delicious grilled onion.
I few have suggested the onion method. Only concern I have is that I grill a lot. 3-4 times a week. That’s a lot of onions lol.
What I do after scrubbing the grate:
Fill a bowl with high temp oil/olive oil. Soak paper towel in it and rub the paper towel over the grates. Less chance to have your food stick and grate will be very clean.
@@RRWerken great tip, thanks for sharing!
@@tomwadek I use only a wad of aluminum foil to scrape the grill before and after I cook. More sustainable on the wallet too!
@@rottdog7864 that’s always a good thing with all this inflation now a days
Been doing this for many decades but i found this vid very informative. Thank you.
Glad I could help
This is a GR8 intro to charcoal cooking!!! I started out with a Weber 18" YEARS ago without any of these type tips...was a LONG learning curve! Now have a SNS 22" kettle & a Weber 22" with a Santa Maria set up on it and BAM!!! they are FANTASTIC to cook with especially with the Slow N Sear system they have in them!!! I use all these tips now that I had my "learnin"! Love charcoal cooking! Although I'm a die hard B&B charcoal user, but did start out with Kingsford!
Thank you for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Check out my other bbq videos. I did one on fuel
great video. Very well explained and as others have said this is much better than some of the other professional videos out there. kudos
Thank you, glad I could help. I’ll be posting a follow up video discussing coals this weekend
Excellent video. Thank you for this!
Just ordered my first Weber master , new to grilling in general. So happy found this channel
I’m glad you found our channel too. Thanks for watching.

I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Dude you’re my hero this is amazing. I’m new to the kettle grill and feel very confident giving it a shot now.
I’m glad I could help!
Great video, I have been using a Weber Kettle for over 20 years now and love them. I recently bought a slow n sear and it’s really good for two zone cooking. Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Tom, great info and explanations in this video. Better than most I have watched. Going forward please ditch the metal Wind Chimes they were distracting from your many useful techniques after a while. Your video gives me confidence to go back to the Weber Charcoal Kettle again. Thanks for this info.
Thanks for watching. Yes, I know. They have been tossed in the trash lol. Happy holidays.
@@tomwadek saw this - deleting my comment... 😆
I kinda liked the wind chimes. Made me feel at home.
It was still easy enough to hear him clearly with no issue. Are you hearing impaired? If so then I get that. But I suspect you are just a crybaby and like to boss people around.
PS great video - very thoughtful and thorough… pS love the chimes
This is exactly what I was looking for. Really informative and to the point ✌️. About to purchase 1 this week so this was just what I needed 😊
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Congrats on the new grill, happy cooking!
Fab tutorial (and loved the wind chimes!). 👌
Bought my first Weber. Thank you for this information. So awesome. We love grilled meat and vegetables. Thank you

Absolutely awesome tutorial mate. Thank you.

Great video sir! Thank you!
My pleasure!
I have a chimney starter it is a must have makes everything so easy
Thanks for taking the time to make this video - great stuff! I'm new to the kettle, but loving it so far. Definitely a bit of a learning curve...
No problem. I’m thinking about doing a follow up. I’m glad I could help. Happy grilling
@@tomwadek If you do, I'll be watching!
@@crashcopter6000 thank you!
If you're cooking burgers or dogs, Kingsford is OK, but B&B is king. It lasts a lot longer for low & slow cooks.
Great tips man. I enjoy cooking now and love cooking for my family on my weber kettle . Anything that can make me better i appreciate it
Right on! Enjoy and have fun
New to charcoal and this was the best video I have watched with tios. Thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Easily the most thorough video I've seen on using the Weber Kettle, man. I have two and they're all I use on my channel. This grill not only took my grilling and smoking to the next level but the things I had to learn to use it properly are skills I can use on any charcoal grill. We recently went though a year-long home renovation and had to stay with family. My brother-n-law had a grill I'd never cooked on before. Using basic knowledge like two-zone cooking and vent settings I was able to cook on his grill just like I'd owned it for years. I'd venture to say most people who cook on another charcoal grill couldn't go cook on a Weber kettle without some training. Oh and B-roll will fix that pesky wind-chime problem. :)
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I completely agree. I think the Weber Kettle is the best valued grill in today’s market that is extremely versatile. I’ve learned a lot from the kettle and a gas grill I owned. I feel like I can tackle almost anything. Happy grilling!
Absolutely brilliant, thank you Tom. Turn the volume down a little on your wind chimes!😊
Great quick tutorial, thanks!
Thanks got watching! Please like and subscribe. Happy grilling!
Very helpful for a beginner like me. Thanks for the tips.

Great video! Wow! My Dad used to grill this way and I didn’t pay enough attention when I was younger. This all sounded familiar from my distant past. Thank you for doing this! I have a gas grill but have been wanting to get a Weber kettle grill too.🥩🔥
No problem. I’m glad I could bring up such found memories of your dad. Buy the Weber and pass on your knowledge to your children one day. Happy grilling!
You won't be sorry if you do! I dumped my pellet grill for a gravity fed smoker. Loved it so much I ditched my weber gas for a kettle. They're amazing.
I was just given a Weber Kettle a friend was no longer using! Used the snake method and made my first smoked pork butt! Seriously SO good! And the air smelled like hickory smoke all day. This girl is hooked on charcoal grilling!

I’ve been using an offset smoker now for 2 years, love the thing, thinking about getting a Weber as a replacement to my small gas grill for fast cooks, great informative video
I’m glad I can help! Thanks for watching and enjoy the new Weber. Happy grilling
I have an offset smoker that I use when I am smoking lots of meat, or bigger pieces. But I’ve had a Weber kettle for nearly 20 years now (I just got my second one as the first was starting to rust after being left outside for that many years), and I smoke more on the Weber than the offset. It works great! Look up some TH-cam videos. It’s fun!
Good video mate, appreciate it!
Glad you liked it!
Best info video out there. Thanks
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent video. I have a small Weber kettle, about 18 inches which is fine, but I bought a twenty two or four inch one last year, and no matter WHAT I do, I can't get a long lasting or consistently hot fire. I have the chimney starter and the grates, and I clean my grill grates and use Kingsford briquettes. I have NO idea what else to try, but I'll give it another shot. Thanks for this very informative video.
No problem. I’m glad I could help and you found it informative. Let the chimney starter go for 20-25 mins. Fill it to the top. Also try lump coal. Goodluck!
Fantastic video ! Love our Weber Kettle !
