good way to find a starting brake bias is to turn off your ABS and then go for a long straight with a hard braking zone. Figure out if the front or rear is locking up, then adjust brake bias as necessary. Find out what the equalization point is where your tires all lock up at about the same time, then from there you can adjust that brake bias to suit certain tracks e.g. Spa you want heavier front brake bias due to the downhill hard turns. the more even your braking is the higher braking potential you have before your abs kicks in. in some tracks you may want to use your bias to induce over/understeer but thats quite advanced for steering ratio if you want to be more aggressive you can turn the steering ratio down a click or two and turn the wheel like you normally would, this will throw the car into the corner a bit more aggressively.

Yet another brilliant video on setting up a car you've made it really easy to understand. I've watched other sim racers do these types of videos and they've completely lost me.
Thanks for this video Kevin as I was one of the people asking for this tutorial. I wish I would have seen this a year ago when I started but am happy to have it now. I can't tell you how many others I have watched trying to make sense of this stuff and your explanation is head and shoulders above the rest. You have the "IT FACTOR" for doing these videos brother and I hope it pays dividends for you in the near future and for years to come. I am watching and liking all your vids on smart TV so you dont see me making comments but I am still there.
I'm enjoying the development of my own setups. I don't really care if I'm 2 secs slower than I would be with a purchased setup but I do care if I manage to improve the setup by a 3 tenths. So for instance at Monza, I can go a race laps around 1m49s5 which is at least a second slower than the leader. But maybe I will be able tune the setup a little to get bellow 1m49s which would be a great success. I noticed the faster guys have better stability in turns, their setups provide more grip at high speed corners but they are also faster on straights. So... yep, there is still some work to do. :-) So thanks for the explanation (though I already knew most of it).
This is the just a very basic explanation of what they do individually for beginners. If I were to go into how to properly setup a race car and order of operations etc… that would be a 6 hour video lol. IRL it’s much more than this does that. There is a large element of experience depending on past experiences. Setting up a real race car properly is almost a little black magic lol.
After watching numerous setup tutorials without much success, I stumbled upon yours and it's hands down the most helpful. Just yesterday, during a race, I couldn't pinpoint why my car was behaving oddly despite a decent setup. Thanks to your insights, I made a few adjustments and the difference was remarkable. Big thanks, buddy!

Super good video and very helpful. I'm new to ACC and had a very hard time with the basic aggressive preset and didn't really understand how to do a setup I've watched this video 7-8 over the last few days. After a pretty basic setup I shaved 1.88secs on the cold tire lap out of the pits then shaved another 2secs over 6-7 laps. Car handles souch better and I feel comfortable tweaking the setup and get even more. Thanks for this video
Thank you so much. On that career mode, 4 hour race. Had problems setting up the Jag, now it does okay. Now I am upset at this Stint thing. Such frustration when getting better lap times and then told to pit every 10-15 min thing. Thinking about letting the car sit in the pit for the four hour race. Great vid as always Kevin! Almost all the setup vids out there are for earlier versions, so its great you point out the "glitches" and things that work best in the game now. I think setup is still holding me back a bit, but I still need to improve my driving. Trail breaking and corner exit need work. Practice, practice, practice!!
Yeah Brent lots of practice. Yeah a lot of this information was spread out in a few different of my videos so I just wanted to put it all in one and add a few things. Thanks!
For most cases i would suggest brake pads 2, they are less aggressive and easier to modulate, plus they have a wider temperature range so they work better on tracks with long straights. Other than that, pretty much perfect overview of the setup
Thank you! Although I have never had an issue with brake pads 1 they work just fine. Most people use them for races up to 90 mins. But if that works for you that’s great.

Man!! I have looked at set up vids for ACC and some are decent and some were.... harder for me to understand. This?! This video here has helped me big time! And I'm skimming the surface. I'm gonna get all of this. Today I pumped up my tires to around 26.? in the air department. Increased the front roll bar a couple notches. In Electronics I did what you said but I also wanted to take TC and turn it all the way off and ABC down quite a bit. What's happening then was I loved the speed but the steering was too sensitive to I turned it up to about 14 or 13...? I can't remember... in the steering wheel thing.... And now I'm flying faster than ever with control at Nurburgring Nordschleife. I'm starting to love this course! I'm also gonna buy WRC 10 after seeing what you said about that and how it helped you and some of your very experienced teammates? Is there a specific version of WRC or just the latest? 2. My Crew Chief 4 seems to be lost, especially at Nurburgring. Cause after a while it just shuts up and I hear nothing and it has file path messages stating something regarding registration ? Do you even use this Crew Chief program or is there a paid version that is better to use? I've been doing this for a couple years almost. I'm addicted!! I'm looking at getting a bigger wheel base and a couple higher end wheels. I really like my VRS pedals. My experience made me wonder is your hardware might be what's giving you trouble with TC all the way off? My thought is if a NEWB like me can do it with so much more speed than what I was doing, a seasoned vet like yourself should smoke it! ACC used to seem slow to me but turning off TC and learning some of these concepts your teaching me has made a 100% difference!! I have much to learn! Thanx! Respectfuly Marc "DragonFlySlayer"
Dirt Rally 2.0 or EA Sports WRC are my favourites. If your driving with TC off as a newbie and not having any issues your proablly not maximizing lap times yet. It’s when you get within 1 second of e-sports times is where it gets really hard. I’m glad it’s all helping. I haven’t done any sim racing in almost 5 months so I’ve been out of the loop for a while
@@Bratmouse1 e-sports times eh? Ok that rings a bell. But I'm moving faster. Way faster to where it's lighting me up! Ok I was looking at the wrong one maybe... EA Sports WRC or Dirt Rally 2.0? Either one of these for help in ACC and overall improvement in life? 😉😉🏁🏁🏆🏆 5 Months? Man! .... I just arrive to learn about a "Bratmouse" & he's out of the loop!? Say it isn't so! Alright.... Thanx! Of the top two you mention or recommend, do you favor one over the other? DR 2.0 or e-sport?
Hey thanks! Go setups, or Hymo or I just make my own. Just a heads ups up I’m transitioning the channel to more of IRL car content. I won’t be doing any sim racing anymore.
Great Video. Thank you. I really learn. The only think I really dont understand its how works rebound and fast rebound when you add o less number. If the number is low or high I dont understand how works and how should use it for diferent tracks.
Thanks. The higher the number on rebound the more stability you get. The higher the number on fast rebound the less compliant it be over bumps. It’s a very complicated thing to explain because there so much more to it. But let’s say your under steering on corner exit increase the front rebound. If the car is moving around too much in rear under braking or through entry or mid corner increase rear rebound although with the Meta setups just basically on most cars run as much rebound and fast rebound as you can. Slide the sliders all the way to the right. Thats what seems to work right now for all mid engine cars I’m. It sure about front engined cars as I don’t really drive those. Again these are just the basics I could probally make a 2 hour video explaining all this in detail
Question: Please...... I was watching a GT race on TV and the term mentioned was "Under shifting" It was then mentioned that the driver in question doesn't want this now. In all my ignorance I've never heard of Under shifting but I have thought at times while driving my sim if I'm over shifting or under shifting.... Then there's the gear ratio set up in sims I've seen. 1. Is this why sometimes we would alter a gear ratio maybe for a given track in order to fully shift through the car's total gears to achieve max speed on a given track? Or is that totally not the case? Cause sometimes I'm flying all the way to ... 5th gear but it's time to down shift and position straight break then trail through an Apex of a turn? When would we ever want to change gear ratios? Should there only be one gear ratio set up regardless of track we're on? I've never driven a race car. 🤔
Nice video man.Lots to take in but can you please stop saying that you arent the fastest etc you are faster and more knowledgeable than most of us which is what counts your videos are accessible which is the most important metric. If i wanted knowledge overload and the feeling of watching paint dry i would watch a nils video

Its cool man,you do good work! I just mentioned it because the last video of yours I watched, even my wife noticed it from listening over my shoulder hahah
Yesterday I felt lost in acc 😢 I miss 1.8 and my porsche 2019! The game was so fun then most cars could win a race, now I'm forced to play 3-5 cars otherwise I'm dead last 😢
@sobolanul82 forgott to say its more then physics, for example the audi can drive with full wing without loosing topspeed and it can drive with 0 TC and then the Bentley needs high TC and looses a lot of speed with wing so kunos have broken the ground of cars in 1.9
Daaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmm, I'm been looking for a video that explains what each thing is in a car and how it affects the race, handling all that! I wondering what TC2 is.. I mean, in comparison with the "normal" tc, what's the difference? I just feel that it started nice, and then it ended up starting to rush trough. But still very good!
Thanks! Yeah If I would say everything I wanted to it would be 2 hour video. Lol 😂 The coach Dave website has an excellent written explanation comparing the two. That would help you out I think . Thanks for watching!
time for a second watch because I can't remember all of this. I feel like I'm just losing so much time trying to tune my own car, but I would rather do that than buy a tune.
Wait a second, you sure about that TC2 option not working right? Saw some videos showcasing how it works (TC1 being when it kicks in, TC2 how much it kicks in)... This isn't the case? I mean they put TC1 to 5 on the McLaren and dropped TC2 to 1 to showcase how it went it was very different to both being say on 5, and vise versa they tested TC1 1, and TC2 at like 5 and it was later but stronger..... No longer the case???

Thanx!

5 Months? Man! .... I just arrive to learn about a "Bratmouse" & he's out of the loop!? Say it isn't so!
Alright.... Thanx! Of the top two you mention or recommend, do you favor one over the other? DR 2.0 or e-sport?
I think I'll roll with e-sport WRC.
Hope to see more educational vids! Thank you so much and hope all is well with you. I dig the Rodent!

Awesome video ty I’m a newby and I subbed. Where do u go for setups
@@Bratmouse1 Thank you mate.
Fantastic video
Thanks!
A big take away that I got is, get the tyre pressures adjusted first BEFORE changing anything else.
Yes sir. And keep checking them as you adjust
Nice video man.Lots to take in but can you please stop saying that you arent the fastest etc you are faster and more knowledgeable than most of us which is what counts your videos are accessible which is the most important metric. If i wanted knowledge overload and the feeling of watching paint dry i would watch a nils video
Thanks man! TH-cam comments can be harsh sometimes so I always want to make it known that I know my current place and I want to address humble, kindness, and no elitism in my videos. I know I feel like a broken record saying it.
Its cool man,you do good work! I just mentioned it because the last video of yours I watched, even my wife noticed it from listening over my shoulder hahah
Youre a legend!
Thanks buddy! Hoped it helped!
btw is 27-28 psi is ideal for when you on the race? (warm tire + load) or just on the pit?
26.5-26.8 hot
Regarding Brakekpads: Just DON´T use set 4. Afaik they are used ones "for testing purposes". Not much more to know about those :D
Awesome video
I have always heard, change only one thing at a time.
Yes that’s true. Once you get more experience and know how the car reacts to certain adjustments you can change a couple things at a time.
Awesome video. But I can’t understand english so good. Anyway I appreciate for your work. Thank you.
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Yesterday I felt lost in acc 😢 I miss 1.8 and my porsche 2019! The game was so fun then most cars could win a race, now I'm forced to play 3-5 cars otherwise I'm dead last 😢
A lot of people feel that way about 1.9.
But the physics are much OK now and the cars behave more realistic. Because of the massive changes some cars suffer and they need to work on BOPs now.
@sobolanul82 yes, your right! Physics wise 1.9 is better but BOP is killing the game
Thanks for watching!
thank you
Your welcome!
time for a second watch because I can't remember all of this. I feel like I'm just losing so much time trying to tune my own car, but I would rather do that than buy a tune.
Perfect
Thanks
Why does lower ABS slow down the car? Real life ABS is always a bonus, did the devs make it less potent in the game for gameplay purposes?
Less ABS will decrease stopping distance. But if you go too low we lock up the tires. Not really sure what you’re asking?
Is this for all the cars set up?
It’s just a general overview of what everything does. So yes you can use it for every car. You can even use it setup real life race cars lol.
I , you have a fanatec podium dd2?
No I have. Fanatec CSL Elite V1.1. My full setup is in description
In 1.8 yes. But in the 1.9 update it doesn’t work properly anymore on most cars. To be very quick you should be running all TC at 0.
@@Bratmouse1 fk me, I have been going on the old model philosophy, hahaha. Thnx mate :)
I assume this is something they will need to fix going forward?
Again thnk you :)

@@Bratmouse1 😆indeed... most probably 24h Nord and AC2 are taking too much of their work time, no hands on deck for physics corrections anymore, lol.
Trouble is the “meta” tuning problems
“Beginner guide” lol 40min video later 😂😂 appreciate it tho
lol it’s all beginner explanations. I could make a 2 hour video for almost every individual setup screen alone and go through how to properly setup a race car and how each setting relates and effects the other settings. Lol. 😂

Great in-depth video, the info is appreciated BUT you seriously need to stop saying "Ahh" before, after and in-between almost everything you say !!

Seriously, count how many times you say Ahh, it's insane.....so-much-so that I couldn't watch the whole video in one sitting because AHH gets proper annoying.....Sorry but I mean this as constructive criticism, someone had to say something !!
@@fataldragon69 here is some constructive criticism. If a regular guy spends 12 hours of his time not getting paid making a video for the betterment of the community. Don’t start picking apart what you didn’t like about it. Either you liked the video or you didn’t. There is no need for everyone on social media to always make sure that every idea that pops into there head gets posted or published. Most other channels and people are charging for this information through various ways. I’m one of the few that gives out the info for free so you will like it as is or don’t watch. Good thing I’ve quit sim racing so you won’t have to deal with that anymore. Have fun!
its not real racing though mate. spending 40 dollars for a set up is midnbogglingly silly.
