    • @JETWTF
      @JETWTF 4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      A symbol for chaos on a vampire outfit fits as much as a clown does at a funeral to entertain the grievers. Vampires are very ordered, chaos is their enemy because they don't want their cattle to be alarmed making it more difficult to obtain a meal. They live in ordered covens with their own rules and laws. They infiltrate towns and cities, blending in as much as they can... up to being the court mage of Solitude or simply a husband and wife who runs the local sawmill. Keeping the peace with a lack of chaos serves them and their interests.

      Sam Reddig age doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with it from the start, but the daughters of coldharbour do seem to end up living a long time, if Serana and Valerica are any indication lol. The skeleton on the mountaintop...
    You first two explanations were a bit more of a stretch I think. Though the third theory of it being a nod to Melkor has something to it.
    Melkor was defeated by the Valar and banished in to the void. In short he experienced as true of a death as a deific being can.
    Further, while he had the silmaril embedded in his crown, they were a prize he stole from the Noldor who had crafted them. They were beyond precious as they held the last light of the two trees of valinor (which morgoth/melkor destroyed with the aid of ungoliant). This in turn led to his pursuit by the Noldor and sons of Fëanor and the ensuing wars where these mighty elves fought to reclaim the treasure of their father.
    You also ought to consider the area that those wars took place in. Beleriand. It was a land with several Elven kingdoms, granted alongside those of men and dwarves, but the history of the 1st age is predominantly about the elves. Additionally, the wars ultimately concluded with Morgoth/Melkor's defeat, his 'death' and the destruction of Beleriand.
    Mark also that Orcs are not a race created in and of themselves, in Tolkien's lore, Orcs are twisted and betrayed elves.
    Morgoth is also the one who brought the dragons into being.
    And before I forget, the final battles of those wars against Melkor were fought about his fortress of Angband which was located beneath Thangorodrim, northern, very tall, mountains.
    So with all these facts, we have;
    A skeleton representing true death (to my knowledge you cannot raise skeletons in skyrim with conjuration)
    A crown bearing three remarkable gems.
    A weapon of the elven races and an indicator of times of war.
    Located in an area once held and ruled by elves.
    The same area that has been forgotten by the outside world (i.e Lost)
    A twisted and deformed race of creatures that were once elves.
    A fortress/temple located in the mountains.
    And the snowy environment of being located in the biting north and heights.
    I'd say the skeleton being a nod to Morgoth/Melkor and the end of the 1st age of Arda is a pretty good bet.

    I'm the Soul Cairn, as I was doing the Arvak quest, I remember wandering around to find the skull and I found what looked like a tomb to me. I entered, since tombs hold corpses, and corpses have skeletons, etc, only to be met with a stand or so which required a gem fragments, which I'd previously collected because I thought they looked cool and I had literally nothing better to do as I tried to stay up all night. As a result, I recall there being a strange reaction of there suddenly being lightning striking the center of the room from the stand and the ceiling, the room dark with a grate-like floor I think? I know for sure, however, that an executioner-like figure started attacking me, vomiting as an attack whilst summoning skeletons or something of the sort. Either way, I got completely owned regardless of my relatively high-ish level and quite leveled armor, magic, and weapons. This was a few years ago, and ever since then had I figured I'd found a secret boss or an Easter Egg or something.
    Only recently had I decided to Google it to figure out what the hell actually happened there. Turns out, I just got my ass handed to me by what was quite literally a secret boss, the Reaper.

      ... And that Stone giant, forgot his name. Man, being born in 1992 was good, the following years were great with just everything.
      I grew up knowing how cool it was to build a fortress out of wooden sticks in the local forest, something today's Fortnite-generation will never understand.

    The Story of St. Patrick is actually a glorified genocide committed by The Holy Roman Empire against Irish-Celtic Pagans. The “Driving the Snakes from Ireland” trope is actually a metaphor to the Genocide as “The Serpent” is one of the Totem/Spirit Animals of Irish-Celtic Pagans. The Colours of St. Patrick’s Day being Green is also wrong. The original colours of the St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations were Blue and Gold.

    I always assumed the Chaos symbol pin on the female vampires' capes were some kinda lowkey nod to Molag Bal's domain Coldharbour.
    Now, English isn't my native language but harbors makes me think of the sea and marine stuff, so the pin I always thought was like... a fancy rudder for a ship.

  • @JETWTF
    @JETWTF 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    40:15 What do you mean by "used to"? Selene the character is still just as hot today, Kate Beckinsale is just as hot too. Now I want to watch Underworld again lol.
    Oh the broach on Serana's outfit isn't about chaos but a ships wheel, ships being found in and from a harbor, ships being female as in "Is she seaworthy?". She is a daughter of Coldharbor, Molag Bals plane of Oblivion. She is a female from a harbor and that broach is her wheel. And that same symbol that her broach has looks more like a compass than the chaos symbol which further supports the wheel as that's a compass in a way with each handle representing a numbers of degrees to turn in a direction. Primary directions being the longer and the directions between(northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast) being shorter. North usually being the more notable direction on a compass, but she is a vampire and supposedly evil and that comes with upside down symbolism.
    Then why would it represent chaos? Vampires are not chaotic. Evil but ordered. Lawful Evil would be the D&D alignment. Chaotic Evil would be more werewolves or werebears, they transform and sow chaos in their rampage. Vampires? They sneak into someone's home and suck some blood and maybe not kill them in the process, just left tired and weak from blood loss, make thralls of villagers for a slow takeover of the village, run a skooma den, or be the court mage in the most powerful hold... none of which is chaotic, Vampires are very ordered, has covens, social hierarchy, politics, laws rules and by-laws, they use order rather than chaos. No, Sorry but a symbol of chaos as a broach on a vampire outfit fits like a clown at a funeral.

    • @hroderic9422
      @hroderic9422 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tho I mostly agree, I think the whole idea of vampires darkening the Sun and going into a rampage and probably a world conquest (or just giving the opportunity to every independent vampire clan in Nirn of destroying/conquering as they please) may be a little chaotic. Also they come from Molag Bal, who is in a sense a very "chaotic" daedra, as despicted in TES:O
      Vampires could have hierarchy, rules, politics and so on, but they still are beasts that hunger for blood. They maybe go in disguise or form clans to protect themselves, but if the mortals werent so powerful and organized they probably would go into rampage as werevolves and werebears (who also go in disguise into human society and make clans, tribes, etc.)

      The actual place ‘Coldharbor’ isn’t even a harbor, or on the sea or ocean at all. The name is based on a real place. Land that was fought over during the US Civil War and was the site of some of the bloodiest, one-sides skirmishing of the conflict. “Some accounts refer to the 1862 battle as the First Battle of Cold Harbor, and the 1864 battle as the Second Battle of Cold Harbor. Union soldiers were disturbed to discover skeletal remains from the first battle while entrenching. Cold Harbor was not a port city, despite its name. Rather, it described two rural crossroads named for the Cold Harbor Tavern (owned by the Isaac Burnett family) which provided shelter (harbor) but not hot meals. Old Cold Harbor stood two miles east of Gaines's Mill, and New Cold Harbor a mile southeast. Both were approximately 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Richmond, capital of the Confederacy. From these crossroads, the Union army was positioned to receive reinforcements sailing up the Pamunkey River, and could attack either the Confederate capital or its Army of Northern Virginia.” This is befitting Molag Bal’s nature and the name itself just kinda sounds ominous. Mechanicsville, Virginia is a little over an hour and a half from Bethesda, Maryland. I’m sure that’s why they thought of it.
      Anyway, just a small aside, it has little to do with your take on the symbol - though I also don’t at all agree with your theory. It seems to obviously be a reference in a similar... vein... to the one made in the video. Harbor in the game’s “Cold Harbor” refers to “shelter” - as in, followers of Molag Bal will find a cold and sickening embrace.

    This might be a stretch, but I like to think this is either a reference or at least something influenced by Warhammer Fantasy. One interesting character in Warhammer Fantasy is named Walach Harkon, is the Grandmaster of a group of Vampire Knights called the Blood Dragons, residing in The Blood Keep. The leader of the vampires in Skyrim, is named Harkon, and one of the very first objectives you receive when you start making moves against him is find 2 elder scrolls, each named Blood and Dragon.
