Camelworks Tsun appears to also be a reference to Heimdallr or Heimdall the Norse God who watches over the Bifrost(The rainbow Bridge connecting Asgard to the rest of the realms) much like how Tsun watches over the Whale-Bone Bridge( which connects the Hall Of Valor to the rest of Sovngarde and the outside world... and sadly whales are a no show in Skyrim)

Blood is referencing the blood of the Daedra and Aedra the player must retrieve for Martin. A Fox is referencing The Gray Fox, the leader of the thieves guild. A severed head references the severed head of Mathieu Bellemont's mother. And the cheese is referencing the several quotes about cheese during the Shivering Isles quest line, and may also be referencing the cheese you use to draw in rats to the khajiit village during the daedric quest for Sheogorath.

I always thought Festus Krex was a reference to Uncle Fester from the Addams Family. He describes himself as 'the cranky old uncle no-one talks to' and he mentions killing his wife over a bath. In 'Addams Family Values', Uncle Fester's wife Debbie tries to kill him in the bath.
@@Decwitch1 okay boomer. Jk, I did watch that when I was little, I wouldn't mind a remake of it and several other western shows. It would be cool to see the lessons repeated with modern settings.
To me Festus in New Vegas is a reference to a secondary character of the same in the long running TV Western “Gunsmoke” en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Curtis
Perhaps, the human skeleton inside mammoth skeleton is a reference to the scene in The Empire Strikes Back when Han Solo and Luke hide inside a creature's belly in order to survive a freezing-cold night.
I think the human skeleton in the mammoth is one of two things; 1st: a Star Wars reference where Luke Skywalker hides in his mount to stay warm in the cold to avoid freezing to death 2nd: possibly an ironic reference illustrating a hunter who took down a mammoth and the mammoth then collapsed on him/trapping/killing him
I don't understand this. Personally I think its just meant to be something weird to be found, that tells a story. No way is that a reference to star wars or moby dick. Maybe a reference to something I don't know mind you. Your second option seems reasonable. If this is a reference to star wars then literally anything is. Its like saying people hold swords and that's like lightsabers, so swords are a reference to star wars. Far too much of a stretch.
Camelworks is one of the ONLY youtubers that actually do proper research and effort for his videos. Lets turn off adblock and watch ads for him, it doesnt take as much effort as he puts in his vids.
The moving statues seem reminiscent of the greybreads with the robes and the beards. Almost like they’re somehow watching over the Dragonborn during his battle/journey through sovngarde. Another thing Vulthuryol translates to “death overlord fire” and Smaug’s iconic quote is “I am fire, I am death.” 👌🏼
I've always thought that the bucket is a symbol of bailing out water, as a direct reference to the Flooded Grotto of Gaiar Alata (Mankar Camoran's paradise).
How is there no mention of how the spectral assassin says "shadowmire my old and dear friend" which is a very big reference to how gandalf says "shadowfax my old and dear friend" Please pardon the misspellings of good horsey names.
The reason he says that is actually because by the way what you referenced they meant to be referenced like that is because shadowmere was originally Lucille lachance’s horse in oblivion shadowmere is only seen once in oblivion but you have to beat every quest including the side ones to find this out
Since I knew about the backstory of Erick the Slayer, i've always taken him as a follower. I can't avoid it, I just deeply want the real Erick to enjoy the game with me somehow
So, for those confused about the meaning of "to the pain," allow me to explain. To the pain means the first thing you lose is your feet, below the ankles. Next, your hands at the wrists. Then your nose. The next thing you lose is your left eye, followed by your right. Your ears, you'll get to keep. This is so that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish. Every babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries out, "Dear God! What is that thing," will echo in your perfect ears. That is what "to the pain means." It means you leave your opponent in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever.
"FUS RO DAH!" Dragon spawns and roars "Ah, crap. Why is there a dragon in an underground city?! That's not cool!" Player, if using heavily modded dragons, likely gets killed, or, kills it, and if using kicking mods, kicks it over and over to spite it.
Not sure if its the same Helgi but she is also the person Anise, the witch in the woods between Bleakfall and Riverwood, was writing to. The letter can be found in Anise's locked cellar, and here is a link to what it says: elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Anise%27s_Letter
4:55 Thanks a lot for such a reference! All Russian speaking gamers have always call him Barbos Russian-wise because of this, and thought it was but a funny coincidence. By the way, Barbós was his name, not Barbosa. “Barbosa” is the name's genitive form, “u Barbosa” may be roughly translated as “at Barbos’s”, visiting Barbos. This name used to be very popular to call stray dogs, no one really knows why, and what’s the origin. Also, the stray dog and his domesticated mate sang a song “a human is a dog’s best friend” in that cartoon. (Gods, I’m late, almost dangerously so)
I have heard of Eric, and it makes me so sad, but at least he got a wonderful tour. The way Skyriim seems to be lasting forever means he gets to be immortalized in game for a long time to come. RIP Eric
53:48 is actually a reference to the greek and roman story of Pyramus and Thisbe, in which they are star crossed lovers who plan to elope. However when attempting to run away and meet up, Pyramus sees that Thisbe has apparently been ripped apart by a wild beast while waiting. Pyramus then commits suicide to join Thisbe in the afterlife.
No, Pyramus sees a lioness with Thisbe's cloak and assumes she's dead, but she had gotten away. Pyramus kills himself with his sword, then Thisbe finds him and kills herself with the same sword. Nobody actually gets ripped apart by wild beasts and there is no poison involved. Romeo and Juliet fit this Easter egg better mostly because they actually used poison and a dagger, but also because the Peryite shrine fits with the "plague on both your houses," and they are better known. That said, Romeo and Juliet is based on Pyramus and Thisbe, so it isn't unreasonable to reference both at once.
At 14:45 at the bottom of the first page it mentions the wooden beams were supported by bronze bottoms. Scott Kurtz played Binwin Bronzebottom. Thats a reference too I dare say.
I just bought it again and since you can use all mods on Xbox now it’s the most time I’ve spent on a game since the first time I played through it. So amazing!
The bugs in jars are little play things of Sheogorath. He puts them into the world in order to drive people mad in an attempt to find a reason for their existence.
So, I’ve stumbled on a possible easter egg. Paarthunax, the dragon, and Pertinax, the Roman emperor; one is a dragon who you are supposed to assassinate (according to the Blades) and one is a Roman emperor who was assassinated three months into his rule by the Praetorian guard (who are pretty much the Blades) during the Year of the Five Emperors. I thought it was possibly important to note because of historical parallels could possibly be used to predict future content.
It's most likely a reference to the Necronomicon, a fictional book created by H.P. Lovecraft said to contain forbidden knowledge. The fact that you get the book from Hermaeus Mora (who's design is heavily inspired by Lovecraftian monsters) kinda confirms it for me.
3:32 "Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony."
Another note about the Adoring Fan tidbit. People liked to make jokes or videos of themselves murdering or otherwise betraying the adoring fan (Much like has been done with Lydia in Skyrim). So having an "Adoring Fan" turn the tables on the champion of the arena could be poking fun at that. Is it a stretch? Yes, but I'd buy it.
Kinda mad about the bugs in jars one. I read a really cool and in depth theory about how they were a clue to the end of the world. Mostly though, I just liked the mystery.
57:24 I'm so glad someone mentioned this reference! There's an extra layer to it though, as well. If I remember correctly that is; after defeating the manifestations of his self doubt, anger etc, tombstones will appear with their names on it. This is also a reference to Red Dwarf when you encounter the tombstones of Rimmer's "hopes and dreams" and such That is I think tombstones appear. I really can't remember, but I do remember being reminded wholly of that scene during the quest
@23:11 Gisli&Erikur in Solitude...but Helgi is the name of the ghost girl in Morthal and quite possibly the same girl mentioned in Anise's letter found in the basement of Anise's Cabin. Helgi was more than likely to be groomed to become a Hagraven, as Anise was affiliated with the Hagraven Moira.
7:32 Nice to know that warrior, mage and thief has been "promoted". I was introduced to the Elders scrolls first time in Morrowind, so I dont know about arena or daggerfall. But when you are escorted from pear to the house, where your papers are finalised, inside the first room hangs tree tapestrys representing (you quest it. Sorry I had to :)) warrior, mage and thief.
X Gunslinger X or.....maybe they genuinely didn’t like the video u dumbass. With your logic ur saying that every single movie is good because a lot of effort was put into them
Well what I don't understand is if someone doesnt like a video then fucking watch something else. People think they need to judge everyone and everything. I think he did a good job. Is have to really hate a video to dislike it
Fun fact excalibur is the french translation of excalibur's original name caliburne, which in turn is is the anglicised version of a celtic word that's hard to write in English but comes out to caldewhick which has be translated as sword. So the excalibur just being a steel sword is accurate
Anyone else notice he presents each Easter egg in a way that makes it seem like he’s furthering a point from the last one? Lmao it’s brilliant, keeps me watching even though I need to stop🙄
I remember once my cousin tricked me into thinking had to gather of the bugs in a jar then taken them to the mythic dawn paper, turn it into a bucket, then you would be able to place the bugs in the bucket which I guess somehow triggered a second oblivion crisis. I was dumb.
1:01:30 This may also be a reference to The Hobbit. The book mentions that Bilbo Baggins' mother's side of the family was infamous for their adventurous spirit, and that part of him may have been what convinced him to go on his great adventure.
Thank you for all your contributions to lore, Easter eggs and videos that are possible lore ideas to the Elder Scrolls series, I've been watching these lately more than replaying the games........it makes me look at things in game and appreciate the replay value much much more, I love the mods you use because the folks look much more lifelike the hair especially, thanks for everything
the arrow sound effects tripped me out as i was playing skyrim while listening to this and kept thinking i was being attacked. finally was able to ignore it and then i actually got shot by arrows XD classic
The phrase "tis but a scratch" or "just a scratch" usually said when DLC takes a lot of damage, is a reference to the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In King Arthur's fight against the Black Knight, the latter, when he lost his arm by a sword, speaks this hilarious and famous phrase in an attempt to not show weaknesses.
I'm only at point 16:08 in the video, so I don't know if this was mentioned yet, but the Elder Scrolls has a lot of easter eggs that have to do with H.P Lovecraft. For example, the daedric alphabet is lovecraftian. Another one is Akatosh sounds a lot like Azathoth. In the lure, if Azathoth wakes up and the dream stops, everything stops (including time), and Akatosh is the divine of time. Another one is the tentacle creatures that Miraak has are a reference to Cthulhu. I know there are more I just can't remember them.
HI! I'M THE HUGE KATATONIA FAN! When I got to the point where you mentioned them, I had been passively listening to the video while I cooked dinner, but I had to stop what I was doing to sit and listen to you! This is such an awesome reference, and I'm so glad I clicked on this video to learn it!
Fun fact pumpkin the dog from oblivion is actually a human that was a knight turned into a dog by a mage who of which died and now pumpkin just stays as a dog forever because the mage casted a spell making pumpkin unable to die by age
23:59 no mans sky (a sci-fi game) has the same easter egg with the gek relic which is a statue of stone with a coin placed in its mouth (gek are like extremely advanced argonians with an alien language)
I'm just a new fan since a couple weeks now, but I really like his use of language in most of his videos. I don't mean his vocabulary but more his flow and wordplay. I don't know if it's entirely intentional. byt it's really fun to listen to. Just wanted to say thanks.
Yeah, most english speakers (especially people associated with entertainment, like TH-cam) would just give up with "weird" words. Instead of saying, say Korvanjund, they will say "Kova-something something"
The way he talks, from the words chosen through the perfect pronunciation to intonation which he uses knowing it's what the human ear likes. he is kind of a genius.
While it's disappointing the bugs in jars were a scrapped idea, it's nice to at least have some closure. Also, I'd totally imagine them being like the fairies in bottles from Zelda. Even if that's coincidental, it's just funny to think of. Especially the torchbug, considering the appearance of the fairies in most games
oh googley goley, i had a dream last night of that bearded drauger ( 5:40) and don't know if it was a nightmare. But playing with Barbas is a nightmare, he does not know how to keep his paws off you and could easily get you killed or arrested.
37:14 for me it looks like a reference to the all seeing eye of Sauron from the lord of the rings. It's also the same color orange. I don't know, it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw that orange globe. It has a black patern that looks like the vertical pupil in the eye
Just in case nobody commented this: The character at 7:16 is not Wulfgar from Beowulf. The character shown is another character from the Forgotten Realms setting for Dungeons & Dragons. That Wulfgar is a companion of the Dark Elf hero Drizzt Do'Urden and a member of his party, the Companions of the hall (sound familiar?)
A fun little glitch I remember using is if you open the elder scroll underwater with your weapon unsheathed before you went into the water the properties of swimming would no longer apply to your character and you would unsheath your weapon while under water and be able to run
I don't know if this has been mentioned but Helgi is in the game. She is the ghost kid from the fire in Morthal that burned down the house. If this has already been pointed out the sorry for beating a dead horse.
The second Easter egg with Eric can also refer to the Hobbit as Bilbo's mother a Took as all Tooks were known to be odd and adventures hobbits while Bilbo's father was a "proper hobbit"
I think it's the Apocalypse Spells mod, but I have a spell in my game that allows you to summon weeping angels that suck the life energy from your enemies, but as soon as your enemies look at them, the weeping angels turn to brittle stone, and are easily shattered. Mods are great!
24:50 I'm struggling deeply with the Mandela effect here. I could've sworn that my first playthrough of Skyrim back in 2011, Moira said, "My precious" about the ring...

Dunmeri Secret ,I'm old so I always thought the name was taken from the character in Gunsmoke
@@Decwitch1 okay boomer. Jk, I did watch that when I was little, I wouldn't mind a remake of it and several other western shows. It would be cool to see the lessons repeated with modern settings.
It could be a phonetic stretch to the legendary bad game "fester's quest" about uncle fester too.
To me Festus in New Vegas is a reference to a secondary character of the same in the long running TV Western “Gunsmoke”

Perhaps, the human skeleton inside mammoth skeleton is a reference to the scene in The Empire Strikes Back when Han Solo and Luke hide inside a creature's belly in order to survive a freezing-cold night.
Maera Fey YESSS! This is what I thought.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. xD
I thought the same :P
Awesome! A few more like-minded people and we can start our own society or social movement!
Maera Fey You my friend, are a god damn genius.
I think the human skeleton in the mammoth is one of two things;
1st: a Star Wars reference where Luke Skywalker hides in his mount to stay warm in the cold to avoid freezing to death
2nd: possibly an ironic reference illustrating a hunter who took down a mammoth and the mammoth then collapsed on him/trapping/killing him
I was thinking the first option
What about the one that is like Jonah in the whale or whatever
nick swisher I was thinking the same thing
i was thinking of the revenant where the guy goes inside an elk to stay warm.

45:38 - Let's not skip over the fact that the Oghma Infinium is bound with skin.
Which kind of reminds me of Sally’s outfit 🧟♀️ 🤔 , from The nightmare before Christmas ☠️🎄
It's most likely a reference to the Necronomicon, a fictional book created by H.P. Lovecraft said to contain forbidden knowledge. The fact that you get the book from Hermaeus Mora (who's design is heavily inspired by Lovecraftian monsters) kinda confirms it for me.

57:24 I'm so glad someone mentioned this reference! There's an extra layer to it though, as well. If I remember correctly that is; after defeating the manifestations of his self doubt, anger etc, tombstones will appear with their names on it. This is also a reference to Red Dwarf when you encounter the tombstones of Rimmer's "hopes and dreams" and such
That is I think tombstones appear.

I know the reason behind the bugs in jars... they belong in my house, at the expense of spending time or effort in anything else!
