this perfectly captures the bittersweet nature of rain world, how we still push through the cruelty of life just to experience a fleeting beauty. I don’t think rain world has one clear philosophy, same with real life, the choice between wanting to abandon the physical tethers of the world or continue living to experience life in all of its joy and hardships is not going to be an easy question with simple answers. we need more games like this that are not afraid to have a message, to strive to be a piece of art rather than a mediocre experience that only appeals to the lowest common denominator. not everyone will like rain world, and that’s fine, because the people who do will REALLY connect with it and deeply understand it. thank you so much for making this, that last shot actually made me sob

Fading kitten syndrome is a real condition in which a kitten, usually at a very young age, suddenly dies for what seems like no reason.
Also, love that you made the echo actually move! It makes it feel more ethereal because it's the only truly animated creature in the video

This made me imagine how terrifying it must be to be hunter, you dont know what cancer is, you just notice some pain and bumps on your body. But suddenly, they grow bigger and bigger until its too difficult to walk, and you pass away cause a dumb iterator messed up.

Incredible. Outstanding. Phenomenal. The section at 2:20 is some kind of amazing to me. The song up to that point is rather dreamy; the shifting feel and style, and pacing of the lyrics make it feel like the song is never quite settled *until* 2:20, and the way you demonstrate the visually is stunning. In contrast to everything else, it feels like peace.
I feel like a lot of people who play Rain World have a problem with the idea of ascension. They very understandably feel like this world has so much to offer despite its struggles and that the Ancients were fools for dedicating their existence to escaping it. I know this and I feel it too, but at the same time Rain World as a narrative puts the player in the unique position of a slugcat; low enough on the food chain that survival has to be clawed out every cycle but intelligent enough to understand their struggle, isolated from meaningful connection. Downpour expands the world and gives the player more mechanical and narrative options (and very notably gives Survivor and Monk the option of a happy ending) but the vanilla slugcat is trapped by both the land and the cycle with no way home. It is Samsara, wandering, a cyclical existence that one seeks to escape through understanding (and in Rain World subsequently, ascension). For one whose existence is struggle, ascension is rest. When I see 2:20, it feels like that.
I’m imagining this animatic from the iterator’s perspective. Like, nearly eternal existences of monotony, punctuated by the brief visit from these smaller creatures, like a spike in smooth data. Or a crack on a mirror. And to have it end as quick as a slugcat’s visit, even if their life is millions of cycles long, there is always an instant where they are in the cycle and the next where they aren’t anymore.

This was absolutely gorgeous, I've never seen anyone recreate the Depths glow effect so well before!! And that ENDING - gods i cant imagine the amount of time and LAYERS it must've taken to make that swirling, zooming-out look!

This is absolutely incredible!!!!!!! This song fits perfectly with the tender, bittersweet tone of Rain World, and you have perfectly captured the magic of the vanilla ending. As much as I love Downpour and the wacky characters it introduces, there will never be anything quite like beating the main game for the first time. My favorite sections are obviously the ending, but also the zero-g scenes, and the multiple Monks falling intrigues me- perhaps your interpretation of the Cycle is similar to mine?
